Endorsement ni GMA kay Carpio-Morales

Update: Mike Arroyo opposes nomination of Atty. Ernesto Francisco as Ombudsman

Carpio-Morales
Why is she afraid of Carpio-Morales as Ombudsman?

The unnamed powerful man behind Maj.Gen. Carlos Garcia

The mysterious powerful man behind Maj. Gen. Carlos Garcia is once again mentioned in the news following the outburst of retired Commodore Rex Robles after the suicide of former Armed Forces Chief Angelo Reyes.

Robles, who belongs to Philippine Military Class ’65 said his closeness to Reyes goes back to PMA days because he was the yearling, the academy lingo for mentor, of Reyes who was in Class ’66.

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday said investigations into alleged diversion and conversion of the military budget might lead to Malacañang during the administration of former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo.

The following version of that controversy which has now involved Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV , PMA Class ’95, is the result of my interviews with Robles, Trillanes and talk with other sources even before the Ombudsman entered into a plea bargain agreement with Garcia, the subject of the congressional investigation which has led to more revelations of corruption in the military.

Beware of Cha-Cha as Arroyo’s Trojan horse

Related article: ex CJ Puno: It’s time for charter change

Cha-cha tune is being played again and we should be wary and alert.

Last Sunday, a friend working in the House of Representatives alerted us that Gloria Arroyo and her allies are ready with the charter-change operation and they are just waiting for the right time to start it. She said Arroyo has the “budget” for it.

Arroyo has already made the first step when she filed on her first day as Pampanga 2nd District representative last July 1 a set of bills including House Resolution 8 calling for charter change through a Constitutional Convention. It was co-authored by her son, Camarines Sur. Rep. Dato Arroyo.

Arroyo ‘disappears’ from new P200 bill

I like this. The past years, I have been refusing to accept the P200 bill as a form of protest because I consider Edsa Dos a farce that installed a fake president. Even if she did not completely disappear from the P200 bill, at least hindi na namamayagpag.

Next time you get hold of a new, crisp P200 bill, don’t be surprised if you find it difficult to locate the picture of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. It has been relegated to a small corner of the bill and the new dominant photo is that of the tarsier, a specially protected animal species found in a few places in the Philippines.

Due for circulation this month, the newly designed peso bank notes will showcase on the reverse side the country’s top tourism spots.

The picture of Arroyo’s inaugural ceremony in 2001—printed at the back of the existing P200 bill—will still appear on the bill, this time on the front side, although a bit too small for anyone to even decipher her face.

It is on the side dominated by the picture of her father, the late President Diosdado Macapagal.

Gloria Arroyo must be happy with De Lima

Continuing Gloria Arroyo's crusade vs Lacson
I applauded Justice Secretary Leila de Lima for the excellent job she did in the investigation of the Aug. 23 hostage-taking tragedy.

I admired her for standing her ground with the recommendations of the Incident Investigation Review Committee even as President Aquino did not adopt them to protect persons close to him.

But I am disturbed by De Lima’s eagerly executing the assignment Gloria Arroyo had given to the Department of Justice which was to make sure that Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson is put behind bars. It’s implementation was not carried out when Lacson went underground towards the end of her term.

What crime has Lacson committed against the Filipino people that he should be behind bars? None.

But Lacson has exposed various government anomalies involving Arroyo and her husband Mike . While in power, the Arroyos were able to stall investigation of the scams which were leading to them.

Seven cleared of mutiny charges; Miranda, Lim, Querubin’s motion denied

by Victor Reyes
Malaya

A jmilitary tribunal yesterday cleared seven military officers of the charge of mutiny filed against them in connection with the alleged plot to overthrow the Arroyo administration in February 2006 but sustained the charge against nine other accused.

Cleared were Col. Orlando de Leon, Lt. Col. Marine Achilles Segumalian, Lt. Col. Custodo Parcon, and 1Lt. Belinda Ferrer of the Marines, and Maj. Leomar Jose Doctolero, Capt. William Victorino Upano, and 1Lt. Homer Estolas of the Army.

The seven, in a second motion for reconsideration for a finding of not guilty, said they did not violate Article of War 67 or mutiny.

The court presided by Maj. Gen. Josue Gaverza said it granted the motion “for being meritorious.”

It denied the motion of the nine others for “lack of merit.”
