Naka-ambang constitutional crisis

Kahit anong kahig, walang matuka

Truth shall spring out of the earth

This is the speech of Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano last Sept. 5. For your reference:

Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven”
Psalms 85:11

Madam President, Atty. Mike Arroyo I am not sorry! It is not because I cannot humble myself if I made a mistake, but because the administration refused to allow us to present evidence in the committee on justice, you refuse to sign the waiver and so far the bank certification has not proven the impeachment team wrong.

Update on Bolante

This came out in Philippine Daily Inquirer today. This one is straight from Harry Roque, Jr. :

Two months after Jocelyn “Joc Joc” Bolante was apprehended by Immigration Officials in Los Angeles, the official story behind his arrest can finally be revealed.

In a sworn statement before an officer of the US Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), Bolante revealed that two officers were apparently already waiting for him at the jetway shortly after he arrived last July 7 at the LA airport.

Iraq and Philippines compared

(This article, by Jon Wiener, appeared in the Aug. 30, 2006 issue of the Los Angeles Times)

DOES HISTORY provide any models suggesting that the unhappy war in Iraq might have a happy ending? Journalists and military experts are pointing hopefully to the U.S. war in the Philippines at the turn of the 20th century as an example of how Americans can fight a tough guerrilla insurgency and eventually win.

Max Boot, an Op-Ed columnist for the Los Angeles Times, has written that the U.S. victory in the Philippines provides a “useful reminder” that Americans can prevail in Iraq. Similar arguments have been made by Robert Kaplan in the Atlantic Monthly and by the neoconservative American Enterprise Institute.

Alan Peter Cayetano.
