My choices

On Monday, I will vote all the 11 senatorial candidates of the Genuine Opposition and Martin Bautista of Kapatiran to complete my slate.

I will put Antonio Trillanes IV in number one. I’d like him to win. His courage to bring the truth to the public about Gloria Arroyo and the dignity with which he bore the punishment of an unjust administration showed strength of character. He is needed in the Senate.

A vote for Trillanes is a slap in the face of Gloria Arroyo. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there would be 15 million of us who would be doing that?

Trillanes denied bail

Gringo Honasan, who is allegedly the brains of Oakwood mutiny, aplogized to Gloria Arroyo. He was allowed to post bail.

Nur Misuari, whose rebellion caused the death of several people, was also granted bail to be able to campaign. He is running for Sulu governor. He supports Gloria Arroyo.

Antonio Trillanes IV, GO senatorial candidate, was refused bail. He has been in detention for the past four years for the so-called Oakwood mutiny. No one died nor was hurt in that incident on July 27, 2003.

Where’s justice?

Trillanes moves up to within striking distance to Magic 12

Three weeks after he was granted media access, Genuine Opposition senatorial candidate Antonio Trillanes IV gained 10 percentage points and moved up from number 24 to number 15 and 16 in the latest SWS/Inquirer survey.

SWS said:

Antonio Trillanes IV, who gained 10 percentage points (from 14 percent to 24 percent), moved from 21st place to 15th-16th.

Trillanes’ case shows that “it is not impossible to make up a large deficit within a short period of time.”

The latest (May 2 to 4 SWS survey):

Burgos family tags Bulacan-based battalion in snatching

Update on Jayjay Burgos:

The Burgos family yesterday tagged elements of the Army 56th Infantry Battalion based in Bulacan as suspects in the disappearance of Jonas Joseph Burgos who was abducted by armed men in a restaurant at the Ever Gotesco mall in Quezon City on April 28.

“All indications point to the 56th IB as the culprit,” said JL Burgos, a younger brother of the missing peasant advocate.

The 56th IB is under Col. Noel Clement.

Stoking the fire in the AFP

Genuine Opposition senatorial candidate Antonio Trillanes IV has a good answer to the denial of AFP chief Hermogenes Esperon of reports attributing to him an order for military personnel to vote 12-0 in favor of Team Unity senatorial bets.

Speaking by phone at the Kapihan sa Maynila last Monday, Trillanes said: “Esperon will automatically deny that in the same way that he denied having participated in the Hello Garci operation.”

Esperon was one of the ranking military officers mentioned by Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano in his several conversations with Gloria Arroyo helping them in their operations to tamper with the results of the 2004 elections in Mindanao. At that time, Esperon, who was then AFP deputy chief for operations, was deputy chief of the military’s Task Force HOPE (Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections).

Retired generals warn of plot to hijack 14M votes

Say cheating plan covers 4 regions, 12 provinces

Esperon’s reply: a concoction

By Victor Reyes

AN umbrella organization composed of retired military and police generals and military-based groups said the Arroyo administration plans to cheat in 16 provinces and regions involving 14.7 million votes.

“Intelligence reports reveal the existence of Oplan Mercury Rising. The operational plan has identified specific areas where massive election fraud will be committed,” said a Bantay Boto document, read by Commodore (ret.) Ismael Appari.
