Perwisyo ang mga mukha ni Arroyo at Ebdane

Kahapon, nagkaroon ng landslide sa mountain highway ng Antique papuntang Iloilo kaya nag-detour ang mga sasakyan sa daan ng Anini-iy.

Naging apat na oras ang biyaheng karaniwan ay tatlong oras lang.Mabuti na lang maaga ako umalis sa aming barrio (4:00 n.u), hindi ako nahuli sa aking 10:25 ng umaga na flight papuntang Manila.

Maraming ilog na nadadaan sa pagitan ng Antique at Iloilo. Sa aming dinaadan kahapon maraming tulay ang inaayos. Mabuti naman sana dahil ginagawa kaya lang ang nakakainis ay nag naglalakihang billboard na may mukha ni Gloria Arroyo at Public Works Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane.

Being connected

It never ceases to amaze me that I’m able to access internet from my remote corner in Antique, even if the connection is so slow and intermittent.

I have always dreamed of being able to file my stories from our place in Guisijan while listening to the chirping the birds surrounded by orchids, bromeliads, heleconias, lirios and milflores. It gives me so much pleasure that it has become a reality.

Our barrio has come a long way from my elementary school days when the only telephone in the barrio was a public phone, in a black box – double the size of a shoe box- installed in the balcony of a community official.

May escalator na sa Antique

May Gaisano Mall na sa Antique. Wow, kahit paano, palatandaan ng asenso yan.

Natuwa naman ako ng makita ko ang Gaisano sa San Jose nang dumaan ako doon noong Miyerkoles galing Iloilo. Wala na kasing eroplano na nagse-service ng Antique kaya via Iloilo ako kung umuwi sa aming baryo sa Guisijan, sa bayan ng Lau-an.

Ang Guisijan ay banding gitna ng Antique, na napagitan sa Iloilo at Aklan sa isla ng Panay Mula Manila, 55 na minuto papuntang Iloilo sa eroplano at tatlong oras pa sa bus bago makarating sa aming lugar.

Trillanes:incarcerated but productive

When the third session of the 14th Congress opens on July 27, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV may be able to be part of it from his detention cell in Camp Crame via the modern technology of teleconferencing.

This could be the start of the realization of the mandate that the Filipino people bestowed on him when they voted for him senator despite the fact that he was in detention and a thorn in Gloria Arroyo’s neck.

But despite his incarceration, or some say because of it, he has come out to be one of the most prolific members of the Senate having authored and co-authored a total of 285 bills and 21 resolutions in the first two years of his six-year term, mostly in line with his advocacies as poverty alleviation, national defense and security, affordable and accessible health care and education, and environmental protection.

Two more bombings: Jolo and Iligan

Update: More than two hours after the blast, another bomb went off in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte province around 10:40 a.m.

Police said the blast took place at the corner of Sabayle Street and Cabili avenue, in front of a lending firm. An Army jeep which was passing by the area, was hit in the explosion. At least six civilians have been reported injured in the incident.-ABS-CBN online

Update: Maj. Gen. Juancho Sabban, commander of Task Force Comet. said he believes the bombing in Cotabato City on Sunday and today’s blast in Jolo are unrelated. He points to the Abu Sayyaf as suspects in today’s blast as a diversionary tactic because of their intensified pursuit operations.

The suspect in last Sunday’s bombing is the MILF.

6 dead, scores wounded in Jolo blast

Six people were killed and more than 40 others were wounded in a bomb attack in the predominantly Muslim town of Jolo in Sulu province, Tuesday morning.

Sulu-based military spokesman Lt. Col. Edgard Arevalo said an improvised explosive device exploded between a gasoline refilling station and a hardware store along Sanchez street in downtown Jolo around 7:50 a.m.

Dasal para kay Cory Aquino

Tuwing tanghali, may misa sa Greenbelt para kay dating Pangulong Cory Aquino. Ito ay siyam na araw na novena na nagsimula noong Miyerkules.

Alam ko na maliban sa mga dumadalo sa misa, marami ang nagdadarasal kay Cory na ngayon ay maselan ang kalagayan dahil sa kanyang sakit na cancer of the colon.

Sinabi ni Deedee Siytangco, ang spokesperson ni Cory, na pinagpasiya na niya pagkatapos ng konsultasyon sa kanyang mga doctor at pamilya na hindi na ipagpatuloy ang chemotherapy. Inalis na siya sa Intensive Care Unit at nasa private room na siya. Ito ay para makakapiling niya ang kanyang mga mahal sa buhay.

‘Change not possible under GMA’ – Trillanes

From the office of Sen. Trillanes:

antonio-trillanesSenator Antonio Trillanes IV supported the public clamor for an election in 2010 by saying change under the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is ‘not possible.’

“Any illusions of change are simply not possible under the administration of GMA,” he said in a published annual report.

According to the same report, Trillanes was ranked sixth in the Senate for his 285 total bills on several advocacies as poverty alleviation, national defense and security, affordable and accessible health care and education, and environmental protection in only his second year in office.
