Tingting Cojuangco lobbying for some policemen in Maguindanao massacre?

Soft heart for policemen implicated in Maguindanao massacre?
Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco, who is running for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance ticket, is lobbying for the dropping of a number of policemen from the list of the accused in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre where 58 persons were killed, a source closely working in the case, said.

Thirty-two of those killed were media workers.

Next month, Nov. 29, the media community and those who value the role of a free press in democracy, will mark the third anniversary of the tragedy that earned for the Philippines the notorious tag of being one of the three most dangerous places in the world for journalists. We share the ignominious label with war-torn countries Iraq and Somalia.

Three years have passed and the victims have not yet been rendered justice.

And here’s Cojuangco, aunt of the President Aquino, lobbying for those involved in the massacre.

If PNoy believes Puno’s Israel trip story, pity the Filipino people

Thanks to Inquirer for photo.
I wish President Aquino would stop talking about “tuwid na daan” anymore.

It’s adding insult to injury with the way he protected Rico Puno, his shooting buddy whom he appointed undersecretary in the Department of Interior and Local Government. He accepted Puno’s resignation last Sept. 11.

“You are testing my level of belief ..”

The House of Representatives spared the public another farce by dropping the planned investigation on the alleged overpriced purchase of firearms for the Philippine National Police and the conflicting versions of Puno’s role in securing the documents on the deal, which included a report questioning his trip to Israel to visit the manufacturing plant of one of the bidders, the Israeli Military Industries.

If Puno was able to get away with stonewalling Sen. Miriam Santiago, chair of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Laws, who conducted hearing, the congressmen are not expected to fare better when it comes to ferreting out the truth. They won’t dare antagonize Malacañang.

President Aquino accepts Puno’s resignation

Statement of Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda on the resignation of Undersecretary Rico E. Puno:

Last Friday, former DILG Undersecretary Rico E. Puno submitted his letter of resignation to the President, through Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. The President has accepted Mr. Puno’s resignation effective immediately.

Statement of Undersecretary Puno on his resignation, September 11, 2012

As Undersecretary for Peace and Order in the DILG, I am entrusted with duties and responsibilities that involve strict confidence, security and protocol. Violating the confidential nature of my duties may expose people to danger or jeopardize critical operations. Hence, I am duty-bound to act with restraint and circumspection, even when subjected to personal attacks in the mass media. This is why I have opted not to react to the speculative accusations that have been hurled against me by some media organizations.

This is the chronology of events that transpired on August 18 and 19, 2012 as I followed the orders of the President:

PNoy’s buddies: ‘they are different from you and me’

Update: Puno resigns. http://www.interaksyon.com/article/42864/dilg-usec-puno-resigns

Pnoy inducts his shooting buddy.
After days of deafening silence on the issue of his favorite undersecretary,Rico Puno,in-charge of police matters at the Department of Interior and Local Government, attempting to get hold of the documents in the possession of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, President Aquino finally spoke and revealed that it was upon his orders that Puno did it.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation in Vladivostok, Russia, Aquino disclosed: “Sometime in the early evening (Aug. 18), tumawag sa atin si Secretary Leila de Lima at pinaalalang may mga confidential folders si Secretary Robredo that needed to be secured. I instructed him (Puno) to seal the office of Secretary Robredo to ensure that ‘yung all of these records will be left intact. And that is the extent of the instructions that I gave to him.”

The killing of Nixon Kua and Pnoy’s fantasy picture of the country’s peace and order situation

Is he aware of peace and order situation outside Malacanang?
We mourn the passing of a colleague and friend, Nixon Kua, former head of the Philippine Tourism Authority, who passed away late Monday evening, two days after he was shot by what police said was a robbery incident in the posh Ayala Greenfields in Calamba, Laguna.

The incident happened in front of the house of his brother, Allyxon, who was also shot several times but survived.

Aside from his brother. Nixon was with his wife, Susan, and two children, Sue Anne and Daryl. Imagine how traumatic it must be for the wife and children.

Nixon’s wake is at Sanctorium on Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.

Nixon’s started his journalism career in the mid-80’s with Tempo, the tabloid sister publication of the Manila Bulletin. He was one of the pioneers of the Philippine Star after the 1986 People Power Revolution. He was assigned at the Presidential Commission and Good Government and that was where I first met him.

Pang-apat na taon ng Mla Pen rebelyun: malaya na sina Trillanes at Lim, si Arroyo, nakakulong

This was taken inside Rizal room, a few minutes before authorities started tear gassing the hotel.

Moner swearing by the Koran. Photo from Philippine Star.

Mike Arroyo back, in fighting mood

Ex-FG Mike Arroyo arrives, hits foes for ‘peddling lies’

Former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo arrived in Manila on Monday after a medical check-up in Hong Kong last week, saying he is now ready to defend himself from accusations leveled against him by his detractors.

“To my detractors, I’m back. You should be ashamed for peddling lies to the public while I was away,” he said at a press conference at the airport.

He said he is ready to face all accusations hurled against him by what he called a “dictatorial” administration.

Arroyo said he would take legal action against the Aquino government for placing him on the immigration watch list, saying it violates his constitutional right to travel.

The untouchable Jesus Verzosa

Former PNP Chief Jesus Verzosa and Chief Supt. George Piano.
Is it believable that then Philippine National Police Chief, Jesus Versoza, signed the documents for the purchase of three new helicopters in the amount of P104.9 million without knowing that two of those aircraft were second-hand and previously owned by Mike Arroyo, husband of Gloria Arroyo?

Is it also believable that Mike Arroyo would decide to involve PNP in this anomalous deal without making sure that the PNP chief is into his scheme?

The seemingly velvet glove treatment of Verzosa in this anomalous deal that cost the reportedly cash-trapped PNP, and in a larger picture, the Filipino people millions of pesos, is intriguing and disturbing.
