In the latest tragedy in Basilan where more than 40 lost their lives, 22 of them members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and one from the Philippine National Police, the public’s heart goes out for the soldiers and the police.
But they are angry at Gloria Arroyo, the fake commander-in-chief.

It’s good to be back in Cagayan de Oro after so many years.
The 5th Mindanao Media Summit, held last weekend at the Marco Resort Hotel, a 30-minute ride from downtown CDO, has for its theme, “Election 2010, Vote for Change, Vote for Peace.”
I’d like to thank James Jimenez, Comelec’s information officer, for giving me his power point presentation for media in the 2010 elections. I and the participants in the media summit found it very useful.
The Media Summit was made possible by the Asia Foundation, USAID, Embassy of Canada, 7107 Island Cruise, Center for Community Journalism and Development, VERA Files, Smart and Coca-Cola Export Corporation.
It’s a pity that Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento was not able to make it although he sent his prepared speech. I had wanted to ask him about the “Source Code” which he mentioned in his written speech.
Here we go again.
Gloria Arroyo orders: “ Annihilate Abu Sayyaf.”
Is anybody taking her seriously?
We are not sure if the Abu Sayyaf, who’s capacity for terror has remained undiminished eight years after Arroyo boasted “Isang bala ka lang” is cowering in fear.
Update from the Inquirer:Dead soldiers mutilated
This statement by Dolorfino raises the question on the government’s policy towards the MILF:
Philippine Star:
Dolorfino later told a briefing in Zamboanga City that the government suffered 23 killed and 22 others wounded.
He added the Abu Sayyaf were aided by gunmen belonging to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
He said 10 of the rebels killed during the firefight have been identified as MILF guerrillas.
The first text message I got yesterday morning was from a friend who forwarded a report from his friend in Cotabato City about a bomb that exploded in front of the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in that city.
News reports later said that four were killed while some 50 people were injured. Three of the fatalities were identified namely Ruby Ramirez, 43, of Philippine Trade, Barangay Bulalo in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, and owner of the lechon house where the bomb was planted; Prince Salem Cang Diaz, grand son of Patricio Diaz, former editor-in-chief of The Mindanao Cross, a local paper based in Cotabato City; Paulo Kahar.
Presidential Adviser for Mindanao Jess Dureza said “This is not an isolated case” referring to a series of bombings the past weeks. He called yesterday’s grim incident “murderous act of insanity” and “cowardly act of treachery and violence.”
House Justice Committee junks MOA-AD intervention
