Only 2 out of 10 strongly agree that Aquino government isn’t corrupt- survey

Most important to Filipinos
Filipinos do not ask much from the government, results of EON’s Philippines Trust Index survey this year showed.

All they want is that their government “not be corrupt.”

Cora P. Guidote,SM Investment Corporation senior vice president for Investor Relations, one of the panelists in the presentation of EON PTI survey results last Monday, took note of that saying that normally, one says he wants an honest leader.

“The consciousness is about corruption,“Guidote said adding,” How can we aspire for an honest leader when we don’t even articulate what we want for a leader. “

An honest person is more than just not corrupt. It involves a higher sense of morality and integrity. One can be “not corrupt” but not totally an honest person.

No formal meeting but Aquino hopes for pull-aside talk with Xi Jinping in APEC

Two embarrassing incidents were in the minds of officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs when they decided not to request for a bilateral meeting between President Aquino and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Nov. 10 and 11 Leaders Meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC to be held in Beijing.

But DFA officials are working on a pull- aside talk between the two leaders on the sidelines of the summit of 21-member organization.

In the forum Wednesday hosted by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines, Aquino said: “The Chinese side does not ask for a bilateral talk; the Philippine side does not also ask for it. Both of us, I guess—and I am hopeful—are looking for a solution that can be win-win.”

And why should Aquino go to the wake of Jennifer Laude? Who he/she?

Asked last Wednesday by Raul Dancel of The Singapore Straits Times during a forum with the Foreign Correspondents Association if he was going to the wake of Laude, the transgender who was murdered by a member of the United States Marines Corps last Oct. 11, Aquino said he doesn’t go to wakes of people he doesn’t know.

His complete answer: “You know, in general, I don’t attend wakes of people I don’t know. I find it—and I’m speaking for myself—I’m uncomfortable in trying to condole with people who don’t know me and… Parang how can I say that I really sympathize with their loss and have some relevant discussion with them on trying to assuage, ‘di ba, their loss at that point in time? If I know the person somehow or the person is close to me… For instance, I went to the wake of the mother of Governor (Alfonso) Umali recently. The mother of Governor Umali had entertained me in her house in the years previous and Governor Umali is very close friend. In Leyte, I went to the unanticipated demise of the wife of Congressman Boying Cari, and I had a chance to talk also to his children—the eldest is 23 and the youngest is Grade Six. As a general rule, I attend wakes wherein there are some connections, so that ‘yung I don’t want to be a burden but rather I want to help them at their time of grief.”

No one can accuse Aquino of not being transparent. He does not bother masking his arrogance.

Leachon: 21- day exit screening for Filipinos in West Africa before coming home

The Philippine College of Physicians, headed by Dr. Anthony Leachon, is recommending that the Philippine government require returning Filipinos from West Africa, where there is a widespread outbreak of the killer disease Ebola, to undergo exit screening there before being allowed to come home.

That is on top of the quarantine required upon their arrival in the Philippines.

The exit screening, Leachon explained, should be quarantine for 21 days, blood tests and questionnaire before traveling back to Manila.

Upon arriving in the Philippines, Leachon said they should also be quarantined for at least seven days to a maximum of 21 days.

Leachon said the longer quarantine is important based on the new findings of the World Health Organization that the incubation period of Ebola is 42 days and not 21 days.

The suspected killer of transgender Jeffrey “Jennifer” Laude, Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton of the US Marine Corps 2nd Battalion 9th Marines, is in the custody of the United States.

A statement by the U.S. Embassy in Manila said Pemberton “ is being held onboard USS Peleliu while a joint Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Philippine National Police investigation is conducted. The United States will continue to fully cooperate with Philippine law enforcement authorities in every aspect of the investigation.”

USS Peleliu, which is in Subic Bay for PHIBLEX 15, a joint amphibious landing exercise, was due to leave Tuesday but its departure was put on hold because of this crime involving one of the American soldiers.

Vice President Jejomar Binay’s 350-hectare luxury estate is so stunning, stupefying and appalling he can kiss his 2016 presidential plans goodbye.

The images shown of Binay’s sprawling property in Batangas during the hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee assault many aspects of the ordinary citizens’ senses: sense of values, sense of propriety, sense of proportion.

To give the public an idea of how big 350 hectares is, former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado said the Binay farm is equivalent to “six Luneta Parks, 10 Araneta Centers or even half the 700 hectare San Juan city.

Puzzling numbers in Pulse Asia’s latest survey

At last, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas numbers moved up.

In a survey conducted by Pulse Asia, Roxas numbers almost doubled in a matter of two months. From seven percent last week of June, it jumped to 13 percent second week of September.

What could be the factors that contributed to respondents finally discovering Roxas after years of ignoring him when asked who they would vote if elections were held at the time the survey was conducted?

Disqualify Binay to level playing field for 2016

VP Jejomar Binay did not present proof to debunk corruption allegations allegations against him.
All these investigations on the alleged corruption of Vice President Jejomar Binay are primarily to level the playing field for the 2016 presidential elections.

That’s because surveys showed that Binay is way, way ahead of other politicians who have ambitions to run for president in 2016.

When Pulse Asia asked 1,200 representative adults, 18 years old and above last June 24 through July 2, who they would vote for president if elections were held at that time, 41 percent said, “Binay.” That’s a good number. Analysts say that a presidential candidate has to have at least 40 per cent of the votes cast to win the presidency.

Aquino insults murdered journalists

Marlene Esperat, Gerry Ortega , Nilo Baculio, Romy Olea must be turning over in their graves now with President Aquino’s latest insult against murdered journalists just to defend his administration’s dismal record in putting a stop to the killing of journalists in the Philippines.

In Brussels last Tuesday, Aquino was asked about human rights violations in the country. In defending his administration, he cited as an example the killing of journalists that has earned for the Philippines the ignominious reputation of the third most dangerous place for journalists, next only to strife-torn Syria and Iraq.

“For instance, in the media killings, some who used to work in media died. Did they die because they were investigative journalists? Were they exercising their profession in a responsible manner, living up to journalistic ethics? Or did they perish because of other reasons?” Aquino said.

This is another example of Aquino’s warped thinking.

Run, PNoy, Run

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have lost track counting the number of somersaults that President Aquino and his spokesmen have performed on the issue of whether he wants to stay in Malacañang after his term ends on June 30, 2016.

To save myself further aggravation, I decided to “like” President Aquino’s Facebook Page which was brought to my attention by singer Leah Navarro.

Navarro, a certified PNoy loyalist, said: “ Have any of you visited the President’s Facebook page? It’s Noynoy Aquino P-Noy . It has over four million likes. You’ll see a clamor for the President to stay on for another term. It’s pretty awesome – thousands of people have posted, commented on, or just ‘liked’ this suggestion that he stay on for another six years.”
