Update:

Malacañang statement:

In keeping with the President’s longstanding position that the cause of justice and sustained reforms in ARMM require live coverage of the Maguindanao Massacre Trial, Secretary Herminio Coloma of the PCOO has instructed NBN4 to undertake a gavel-to-gavel coverage of the trial.

We should never forget this.

Frankl’s ‘Man’s search for meaning’

This Holy Week, I’m reading an old classic bestseller, Viktor E. Frankl’s “Man’s search for meaning .”

Thanks to Juggernaut for introducing me to Frankl’s masterpiece.

Frankl was Europe’s leading psychiatrist. “Man’s search for meaning” is about finding humanity in the most inhuman environment which was the Nazi concentration camp.

Philosophy professor and writer, Gerald F. Kreyche, describes”Man search for meaning” as “The story of a man who became a number who became a person.”

MTRCB considers suspension of ‘Willing Willie’

by VERA Files for Yahoo

Suspension ruling out April 7
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is expected to rule on Thursday, April 7, on the controversy over the March 12 episode of TV5’s early evening variety show “Willing Willie” where host Willie Revillame goaded a tearful six-year old boy into doing a sexually suggestive dance while the audience laughed at the child.

But if for some reasons they would have to delay the ruling, MTRCB Chair Grace Poe-Llamanzares said, “There are talks of a preventive suspension. That’s one option.”

Another MTRCB official, who asked not to be named because he was not the authorized spokesperson, said, “There’s no question about the suspension. What is being discussed is for how long.”

Read reaction of Jan-Jan’s father to outrage over son’s humiliation and cry

CHR condemns the March 12 episode of Willing-Willie as “an exploitation of the child’s innocence and demeans his inherent dignity for entertainment’s sake. “ See complete statement in comments section.

A move to teach Willie Revillame a lesson by calling on a boycott of Willing-Willie’s advertisers is being circulated online.Details below.

TV-5 and Revillame apologize

From GMA-7 news online:

Jan-Jan’s father speaks: ‘Maraming natuwa’

Most of the criticism about boy “macho dancer” Jan-Jan was aimed at TV host Willie Revillame, but a few angry reactions referred to the child’s parents who permitted him to be laughed at and humiliated on national TV.

GMA News Online tracked down Jan-Jan’s father, Jojo Estrada, a salon owner from Quezon City, who saw nothing wrong with the spectacle that earned his son a tidy P10,000, which was spent on a new Portable Sony PlayStation and bike.

On his son’s dance:

“Talent ‘yun ng anak ko, simula nung 4 years old sinasayaw nila ‘yun, kahit sa school pa. Ako’y tuwang-tuwa. Napaluha ako sa tuwa.”
