Ito ang impresyon na nakukuha ko ng mga opisyal ng pamahalaan habang pinapanood ko ang hearing tungkol sa Legacy firms ng Senate Committee on Trade and Commerce sa pamumuno ni Sen. Mar Roxas.
Dahil sa recess na, tatlong senador lang ang dumalo ngunit maayos ang hearing. Kasama ni Roxas sa pagtatanong sina Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile at Sen. Rodolfo Biazon.

Kung titingnan natin ang dahilan ng financial crisis sa Amerika at ang eskandalo sa nakakalason na gatas sa China na yumayanig ngayon sa buong mundo, ang puno’t dulo ay kasakiman. Ang walang kabusugan na pagnanasa ng ilang tao sa pera.
Hindi ko masyado alam ang pasikot-sikot sa mga bagay na financial (kaya hindi talaga ako yayaman) ngunit ang pagka-intindi ko sa nangyari sa Amerika ay ang malalaking mga investment firms katulad ng Lehman Brothers ay pera sa mga sinasabi nilang “subprimes” o mga negosyo na hindi masyadong establisado ngunit malaki ang tubo. Yan ang magic word: malaki ang tubo.
Dito sa mundo, lahat may kapalit. Kung gusto mo sigurado, wala masyadong risk, maliit lang ang tubo. Kung gusto mo malaking tubo sa maigsing panahon, sumali ka sa mahilig sumugal. Kapag tsumamba, jackpot. Kapag minalas naman, bagsak. Ganun ang nangyari ngayon sa Amerika.

Umalma ang Philippine Nursing Association sa “practical nursing” , ang shortcut na kurso ng nursing na pinapa-iral ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Ito kasing CHED ay nag-introduce ng practical nursing program na matatapos sa loob ng 12 hanggang 18 buwan. Ang regular na kurso ng nursing na nakasaad sa Philippine Nursing Act ay apat na taon.
Ang “practical nursing” ay iligal, sabi ng PNA.

With seven years to go, the Philippines is in danger of not meeting all the targets that have been set for countries to provide “Education for All” by 2015.
“Education for All by 2015 – Will we make it?”, a midterm review of progress across the six EFA goals released recently by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or Unesco, said the country is “at risk” of not achieving the goals on adult literacy and gender parity.
Adult literacy in the Philippines stood at 93 percent in 2004. But the number of adult illiterates stood at 3.78 million in 2004 and is projected to rise to 4 million by 2015. Forty-six percent are females who can’t read, write or count.

Dahil sa ganitong sitwasyon, maraming estudyante ang napa-ihi na sa kanilang pants. Ang iba kung saan na lang. Kaya daw ang baho-baho na ng kubeta at ng paaralan.
