Huwag gawing sangkalan ang Panginoon

In preparation for post -boxing life, Pacquiao builds political dynasty.

Campaign lies?

Thanks, Secretary Lacierda for this statement: “Campaigning is campaigning. There were words that were exchanged during that time but we move on for the sake of the country.”

At least now, we know how to take your words, the words of President Aquino and all politicians in the coming campaign for the May 2013 elections.

Many of us were not wise enough to have taken your and your partymates’ words seriously in the 2010 elections. That’s a valuable lesson learned.

Lacierda made the above statement when asked about the inclusion of Cynthia Villar, wife of Senator Manny Villar, in the administration 2013 senatorial ticket.

Senatorial aspirants can’t resist opportunity in other people’s misery

Valuable political exposure 1

This picture of President Aquino’s visit to Barangay Tunasan in Muntinlupa accompanied by Liberal Party 2013 senatorial aspirants is generating controversy in social media. Among those with Aquino were Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas, Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon, former sectoral Rep.Riza Hontiveros, TESDA Administrator Joel Villanueva, and Aurora Rep.Sonny Angara.

Some comments:

Mae Paner: Siguro mas okay na di kayo ma expose na ganito kasi we cannot afford you guys, esp our president PNoy sick. Ang perception pag w Kris, wannabee senatoriables, Mar, tapos open truck, parang nangangampanya! So i guess you are hitting two birds w one stone?

Thinking of going into the political arena

Dati kasi, noong 2010, inisip niya noon tumakbo.

Admin ticket is LP,NP,NPC,LDP coalition; plus Koko Pimentel?

The latest survey by Pulse Asia on the senatorial preferences for the May 2013 elections shows that five in the top 12 will likely be in the Aquino administration ticket which would be composed of Liberal Party, Nationalist People’s Coalition, Nacionalista Party, and Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino.

They are re-electionists NPC’s Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Loren Legarda, who are in the top two in the survey; NP’s Alan Peter Cayetano (3); independent Antonio Trillanes IV (9), and Rep. Edgardo “Sonny” M. Angara (12).

NP’s Rep. Cynthia Villar is in number 14, which is not a bad position. With a good media strategy and grass roots organization, there’s a good chance for her to make it in the Senate. Her husband, Manny Villar, is on his last term.

Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas is number five in the survey, which is good position if all he wants is to return to the Senate.

Koko Pimentel dares UNA to make a choice between him and Zubiri

From Interaksyon:

Former President Joseph Estrada said the United Nationalist Alliance will tackle Monday the letter-request to him of Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III for the Binay-led UNA to drop former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri from the senatorial slate of the coalition for 2013.

Koko Pimentel
Pimentel, who will seek reelection, said he cannot share the campaign stage with Zubiri, who he said clearly enjoyed the fruits of election fraud and had even once accused the then-opposition alliance of Estrada and Vice President Jejomar Binay of having perpetrated it.

In a letter to Estrada dated May 21, 2012 and obtained by www.interaksyon.com on Thursday, Pimentel said he cannot run with Zubiri in the same senatorial ticket for various strong reasons and cited his basis for seeking the exclusion of Zubiri—who sat for four years on the Senate seat that Pimentel should have had for six years— from the UNA ticket.

Zubiri had resigned last year from the Senate, citing “principles” after it became clear that Pimentel was about to be upheld as rightful winner by the electoral tribunal.

No such thing as strange bedfellows in politics

Who was it who said,” In politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies, just permanent interests?”

That is evident in the alliances that are being formed in preparation for the 2013 and 2016 elections.
The early bird is the United Nationalist Alliance of Vice President Jejomar Binay and former President Joseph Estrada, which includes Gloria Arroyo loyalists Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay and Candaba mayor in Pampanga Jerry Pelayo.

Reports said while Estrada is okay with Arroyo’s allies, he is not keen on an alliance with Manny Villar’s Nacionalista Party.

It is understandable if one recalls that it was Villar who railroaded the impeachment complaint against Estrada in 2000 which eventually led to his ouster in January 2001 and the installation of Arroyo in as unelected president.

But then, if Estrada can embrace the loyalists of Arroyo, who put him in jail (although she eventually pardoned him) it’s intriguing why he remains antagonistic to the NP.

Anyway, reports said NP is talking with the administration party, the Liberal Party for a 2013 alliance.

This one really makes me laugh.

How are the proponents of “Villaroyo” and all the operators of the Aquino campaign who came up with those C-5 and Daang Hari extension expose now going to promote the senatorial lineup that would most probably include NP’s Alan Peter Cayetano and Cynthia Villar?

Mag-endorso na lang si Erap

Estrada during the 2010 campaign with running mate Jojo Binay

Using the Arroyo stigma again for 2013 and 2016

Target of Arroyo stigma campaign
Come to think of it, why would Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay and Miguel Zubiri want to be in the United Nationalist Alliance, a coalition that former President Joseph Estrada and Vice President Jojo Binay are forming for the 2013 senatorial elections, and not under the political party of Gloria Arroyo, their benefactor?

We can only guess that they themselves know how unpopular Arroyo is. They want to use other political vehicles and they have found this in UNA.

This has nothing to do with loyalty because we believe Magsaysay remains solidly behind Arroyo. It’s being practical. Actually a smart move. And opportunistic.

We are intrigued, however, by the decision of Binay, who is not shy about his 2016 presidential plans, to allow the two to align with him knowing the political damnation people tainted by Arroyo, imagined or not, suffer. Remember how the “Villaroyo” tag doomed Manny Villar’s presidential bid?

Not surprising that Liberal Party leaders and anti-Binay operators immediately picked up the slant and pastin on Binay the Arroyo stigma. Binay had to remind the public of the time when those are now styling themselves as anti-Arroyo used to be her ardent supporters.
