The Cervical Cancer Prevention Network Program (CECAP), a shared commitment of the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) and JHPIEGO (an affiliate of Johns Hopkins) in coordination with The Cancer Institute of UPM-Philippine General Hospital is launching a logo making contest as part of its awareness raising program to increase information on cervical cancer, how it can be prevented and treated.
Rationale:
The “Cervical Cancer Prevention Network Programs” is dedicated at empowering the Filipino women by increasing their awareness and knowledge of the disease, making them proactive and providing them with the precise tools to triumph the fight against Cervical Cancer. The logo will embody the identity of CECAP’s Vision and Mission. (Please see attached Cervical Cancer Burden in the Philippines and CECAP JHPIEGO Shared Commitment)
VISION
To envision the Filipino women free of Cervical Cancer.
MISSION
To ERADICATE Cervical Cancer by
1. Primary prevention promoting healthy lifestyle through education and information campaign and immunization.
2. Secondary prevention through Cervical Cancer screening with emphasis on Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) linked to treatment (cryotherapy) in a Single Visit Approach (SVA).
3. Conducting research on Cervical Cancer and HPV vaccines.
To provide the standard center not only for service but also for research, education and training for the medical staff, supportive groups and the public. It shall be a model and referral center for the care and prevention of cervical cancer especially for the underserved Filipino women at par with counterpart centers world wide.
MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES:
1. The contest is open to ALL. Members of the CECAP Program Management Team and Steering Committee Members are disqualified from joining the contest.
2. Each participant may SUBMIT ONLY ONE entry.
3. The logo must INTERPRET AND INCLUDE the theme.
4. The design may be done by free-hand rendered in Markers, Ink, Pastel, Watercolor, Oil or Acrylic or by computer or both free-hand and computer on a 10” x 15” illustration board (1/4 size) using the white background in the vertical format. There are no restrictions in the number of colors used.
5. A rationale explaining the logo must be written legibly in a short size bond paper in not less than 50 words. This rationale must be pasted at the back of the artwork.
6. The logo should not carry the name of the artist.
7. The design of the logo must be certified original and/or officially submitted by the participant. Any complaints that may arise due to similarities, likeness or comparison of the design, the participant will be responsible to prove its authenticity. CECAP, in no circumstances, shall be held liable.
8. Participant must fill out an application form and shall submit one (1) recent 2” x 2” colored photo.
9. All entries must be placed in individual brown envelopes and accompanied with the accomplished application form.
Submission is from October 23 to November 17, 2006 at the CECAP Office, Cancer Institute, Philippine General Hospital Compound, Padre Faura, Ermita, Manila. All entries may be submitted through courier or in digital form (jpg file) via email including the rationale and information required in the application form at cecap_phil@yahoo.com. For e-mail applications, please send through courier or hand carry the signed application form on or before November 25. Otherwise, this may be a ground for disqualification.
10. The logo competition shall be judged on the following criteria: Originality 40%, Significance 30% Overall Impact 30%. Decision of the judges is final.
11. Submitted entries will be exhibited from November 20 to 24, 2006 at PGH. Judging of the Logo shall take place at the Cancer Institute on November 27, 2006. Winners shall be informed through courier and telephone call from a designated CECAP staff.
12. CECAP has the right to use any or all of the design in exhibits/displays and for the publication of any of its information materials such as brochures, leaflets, posters, etc. The name of the participant shall be duly acknowledged. Awarding of the winning entry shall be on November 29, 2006. Three winners shall be chosen. Each winner shall receive a certificate and a cash prize of Php 8,000.00.
13. All designs submitted as entry for the contest shall be considered as property of CECAP.
