A squid is a marine tentacled animal which uses for its defense a cloud of ink which it expels from a special sac.
In a hostile situation, a squid squirts large quantities of ink to conceal his flight. That’s what Virgilio Garcillano is doing now in his continuing attempt to cancel his crime of thwarting the will of the Filipino people in the 2004 elections.
Last Monday, in preparation for his testimony in the House of Representatives tomorrow, Garcillano released through his lawyer, Eddie Tamondong, the names of politicians who allegedly talked to him on “election matters” in 2004. As expected, he named congressmen who were active in the impeachment drive against Arroyo: Francis Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano, Roilo Golez, Clavel Martinez.
Escudero, Cayetano, and Golez vehemently denied having talked with Garcillano on the 2004 elections. Golez did not mince words calling the former Comelec commissioner ‘s accusation as “crazy and a lot of BS.”
Between Garcillano and the three congressmen, I would put my money on the latter anytime.
There has been no statement from Martinez yet but I can imagine that what she will say will confirm Garcillano’s election cheating operations.
During the impeachment deliberations last Sept. 7, Martinez, who was formerly a supporter of Arroyo, tearfully related that she gave P2 million to Michaelangelo Zuce, a relative of Garcillano who claimed he operated for his “uncle” in 2004.
Martinez said the P2 million was 50 percent of what was asked of them to ensure the victory of her husband, Celestino, against Gwendolyn Garcia, who was declared winner in the Cebu gubernatorial race.
Sandoval and Suarez have all admitted talking with Garcillano, which in a way, would support Gacillano’s allegations.
But the case of Lanao del Norte’s Macarambon confirms what was heard in the Hello Garci tapes, that he was operating in Mindanao although his official assignment was in Southern Tagalog and Bicol. In ANC’s Strictly Politics two weeks ago, Macarambon admitted having talked with Garcillano when his leaders were having a hard time with PNP officers assigned in polling places.
When asked by host Pia Hontiveros why he talked with Garcillano when Comelec chair Benjamin Abalos was the officer-in-charge of Mindanao, Macarambon lamely explained that Abalos was not available so he talked with the well-known master operator. The congressman said Garcillano acted on his request.
The Hello Garci tapes showed that Garcillano knows the operation in the Autonomous region for Muslim Mindanao like the palm of his hands.
While Garcillano is spewing all those names that he supposedly talked with in 2004, Tamondong said his client denies ever talking with Gloria Arroyo as heard in the Hello Garci tapes. They will, in fact, not entertain any question on the Hello Garci tapes tomorrow.
It’s possible Garcillano will be able to get away with his tactics because the committees that have invited him are chaired by congressmen allied with Arroyo.
Garcillano and his handlers, whoever they are, must really think so low of the Filipino people. They think we are all stupid to believe his tale.
Last Monday, Sen. Serge Osmeña was at pains explaining his suggestion on what to do with former Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano which appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. He suggested something that we hear is done in torture chambers.
Osmeña said “I received a text asking what the Senate would do if Garci appeared at a hearing and lied through his teeth. I replied, ‘pull out his teeth.’ It was a joke, of course. But by not printing the question, my reply is taken out of context. Have to be careful about text jokes in the future.”
For the lies that Garcillano continues to heap on the Filipino people, he deserves to have his teeth pulled. But then, what if they’re false?

Garci was on a honeymoon with his wife in a fake 4-star hotel somewhere in Sabah. Gracie donned her fake silk negligee for the occasion and was getting ready for a fake torrid romance with her lover. But Garci said, “Wait a sec sweetheart… gotta get ready first!” and stood up.
Without much ado, Garci opened his mouth and took out his fake ear and hurriedly put it away in the fake cabinet; he then took out his fake cotton trousers and unscrewed his fake leg and put it in the cupboard too; but that wasn’t all – by this time Gracie’s eyes were about ready to pop out of their sockets – he took off his fake hair and dumped the fake coloured toupé inside the cupboard too. As if that wasn’t enough, Garci went for his eyes and took out one of his fake eyes and put it away too. The last thing that he put away in the cupboard was his fake teeth…
Then jubilantly, Garci beckoned his bride, “Ready Gracie sweetheart? C’mon over here!” but all that Gracie could mutter was, “Where? Inside the cupboard?”
Ha!Ha! Ha!. You know, the best way to handle Garci’s continuous lies is to take it as a joke. We should not allow him to ruin our day.

Best Points raised so far:
(1) The hearing is not covered by the SUB JUDICE rule because a witness such as Garci may not file a case, such as Garci did this past week, which would give him the excuse to refuse to answer certain questions merely because they are the subjects of that case.
(2) No one has claimed to own any of the voices in the Garci conversations that have been made a part of the Paguia testimony, therefore as far as the House Committees are concerned, there is no COMPLAINANT claiming the right of privacy that RA 4200 seeks to protect. Asked pointedly if he was doing so, Garci said no, just hiding under Davide’s cloak. Therefore Chairman Teddy Boy Locsin stated the Commmittee members may continue to propound questions freely while Garci was at equal liberty to invoke any reason he pleases to refuse to answer.
(3) “Crisp” Remulla closed out the morning session with a powerful series of questions that continues to WEAVE a NICE LOOKING TRAP for after lunch. Maybe the Judas Goat has wondered into a corral with some YOUNG and OLD TURKS in it that won’t take the BAIT!

Garcillano and his handlers may have thought that with their overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives, Garcillano can lie through his teeth and easily get away with it.

I’ve been reading the blow by blow account of the Garci circus act in the House of Representatives.
Seems to me the so-called Garci hearings on the alleged Gloria Macapagal election rigging last year are a total, utter, stupid dud! Garcillano is turning the whole country into a low-class circus ring.
I really see no point in going on with the Garci hearings. The man is a friggin immoral lawyer who will just parry questions. The more I read of the blow by blow account, the more sceptical I become about the what the legislature is trying to achieve. No truth is gonna come out of those hearings except that Garci is convincing everybody else that he’s an inveterate liar.
Thanks to Gloria’s allies in the House, Garci will walk out of the House at the end of the day, feeling supremely victorious for having outsmarted the entire legislature. He might as well stick his toungue out at them and say “Beeeeh”! (I sincerely hope his fake teeth fall in the process, at least that would be funny.)
The best and only thing to do is to bound and gag Virgilio O. Garcillano and fly him him to Scotland Yard for lie detector tests and be done with all these Congress hooplas. If the tests show that he’s not lied then good on Gloria Macapagal but if the tests show that her phone pal Garci lied, the people of the Republic of the Philippines should be allowed to hang both Gloria (the liar, the cheat, the thief) and her friggin phone pal Garci from a lampost, tarred and feathered!
The one and only question should be: Did Garci rig election results in favor of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo? And do you really think he will admit that he did? Is anyone naive enough to think he will tell the truth? The answer is a big NO!
So, what’s the use? All these posturings, the questionings and all the blahs and blahs and more blahs are just a waste of people’s rations.

I just want to state my comment on the on-going Garci-Hearing in congress. This is a ploy to make the very corrupt Commissioner Virgiliano Garcillano come out in the open so it will stop the roll-balling attention the Citizen’s Congress is getting from its own hearing. But then again, will Garci talk about the tapes? Of course not. It will divert our attention on the real issue. Have you noticed that the issue he’s trying to make us talk about is whether he went out the country or not? An obvious dirty plot being forced upon by Gloria and her ilks to muddle the real issue.
This will be just like the impeachent trial where the issue was crushed by paying off the majority of our money-greedy congressmen.
