Ang reaksyon niya ay kailangan raw mag”sorry” sa kanya si Pimentel.
Nahihibang na itong si Defensor. Gayang-gaya siya sa kanyang dalawang amo, si Gloria at Mike Arroyo, na humihingi ng “sorry” kay Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano.
Ginagamit lang raw siya ni Pimentel para isulong ang kanyang interes.
Sabi ni Pimentel, bakit siya mag “sorry” kay Defensor? At bakit naman niya kailangan gamitin si Defensor na mabaho ang tingin ng taumbayan.

Ibinulgar ni Pimentel ang kawawang kalagayan ng 28 na Filipino nurses, kasama ang topnotcher sa board exam ng pagka-doctor noong 2004, sa New York dahil sa hindi pagtupad sa kontrata ng Sentosa Recruitment Agency (SRA)..
Ang usapan daw ay sueldo ba $21 hanggang $35 bawat oras, housing allowance, libreng insurance, libreng pamasahe papuntang New York, malawakang training at 8 hanggang 12 na oras na trabaho.
Hindi natupad lahat ang usapan at trabaho kalabaw ang nagyayari sa kanila, walang overtime pay, walang housing allowance. Hindi maayos ang kanilang tirahan. Dahil sa kukunti ang kanilang kita, wala silang pambiling gamit.
Nagreklamo sila sa POEA (Philippine Overseas and Employment Admnistration) at nag-isyu ng preventive suspension order laban sa SRA.
Tumawag si Defensor kay Cecile Rebong, consul general sa New York at kay Rosalinda Baldoz, POEA administrator. Sinabihan niyang huwag galawin ang SRA. Kaya noong June 8, inalis ang suspension.
Sa kanyang privilege speech, sabi ni Pimentel, “I cannot understand how in the world a department secretary could have the gall to act in a manner that in effect obstructs the interest of justice and causes prejudice to the interest of the people he is sworn to serve.
“That is something that we probably will never know under this government whose penchant for the suppression of information knows no bounds and whose desire to confuse the people equals the despotically deceptive record of the martial law regime.”
Ang masasabi lang ni Defensor, “Pananagutan ba niya ang 270 na Filipino na maganda ang relasyon sa Sentosa? Pananagutan ba niya kung magkakaroon ng bias laban sa Filipino dahil hindi nila gusto ang ating pamamalakad?”
Ang isyu ay ang naapi na 28 na Filipino nurses at ang kanyang pagtulong sa nang-aapi sa kanila. Yan dapat ang sagutin ni Defensor. Masyado naman siyang defensive.

Burundi Vice-President Alice Nzomukunda has resigned over corruption and human rights abuses that she says are hampering her nation’s progress.

Ask your provider to give you a dedicated IP that will monitor any outside interference. I did that and has since been “bug-free”. The internet brigade had stepped up its monitoring operations. I don’t know if you can buy citizenship but if you have the money, the shortcut is to “invest” or set up business in a European country; the investor will be granted the equivalent “green card” which you can later upgrade by applying for citizenship.
The Chinese are doing it and they are all over the place here.

RP to sell biggest property in Tokyo
The Department of Finance (DOF) said yesterday that it will sell its biggest property in Tokyo, Japan within the year.Finance Undersecretary Gaudencio Mendoza Jr. said the bids and awards committee (BAC) will meet anytime next week to finalize the terms of reference of the planned privatization of the Fujimi or Kudan property. The asset is a major real estate property of the Philippines in Japan which is located in the prime commercial and residential district of Fujimi-cho, Chiyoda-ku in Tokyo, Japan. He said the lot size is at 4,361.85 square meters. It is also the site of the residence of the Philippine ambassador to Japan. According to Mendoza, the Office of the President has approved the DOF’s request to fasttrack the property auction to raise more funds for the government. Government still has to determine the latest valuation of the property before it firms up the terms of reference for the sale this year. The Philippine government, through the DOF, has already signed the 50-year service development agreements with Berg Co. Ltd for the Naniwa-Choproperty that carried a net present value of ¥759.3m (P334.85 m) and Obanoyama property with a net present value of ¥449.6m(P198.27 m). =–Phil.Star

The Supreme Court in 1992 declared all Philippine properties in the Philippines and abroad as patrimonies and cannot be sold without a national referendum. Over in Japan, what we unhderstand about a national referendum is that it cannot be sold without a national election. Hindi puede ang usap-usapan lang sa Congress that is dominated by tongressmen.
Anyway, the reparations treaty provides that we can file a case against the Philippine government if it breaks this rule even in a Japanese court, which has in fact jurisdiction over the property being originally owned by some Japanese royalty. Most of the properties given to the Philippines were properties sequestered from Baron Mitsui, who was actually stripped off of his title after WWII. I shall provide the authorities here of the copies of the above news from Nelbar. At least, over here the voice of the people holds, and is authority!

But a friend of mine converted the file into video file for burning into DVD, etc. and easy viewing on TV. Met him in Tokyo in 1990 when I was asked to interpret for him. Medyo ilag nga ako kasi alam kong isa siya sa masigasig na nagpaalis kay Marcos. We became good friends since then, and the more I associate with this good man, the more I learn and admire his dedication and commitment to do what is best for his country and people.

I posted the following comments in Quezon’s blog as a follow on comment to a blogger from the US – they were borne of my interaction with member friends of associations in France; I’d appreciate and would like very much to have your comments on how our kababayans feel about the issues besetting our country today. Thanks.
“OFW domestic helpers here perhaps, do have a lot more to lose than Fil-Ams. It is true that they are also afraid to be “black-listed” (whatever that means because I personally believe they have a right to join rallies if they think they ought to); I was told personally by some people that they feel intimidated about expressing their thoughts on political issues – they’ve been chided often enough about becoming “too political”, i.e., “O kayo diyan, huwag na lang kayong masyadong maingay! Ang dami na ng problema ninyo, dadagdagan pa ninyo!”, etc. were apparently said to a small group of people by a member of the embassy during a Sunday gathering; you will be surprised that OFWs here do feel strongly about issues at home and speak about them during the Sunday gatherings.
The Fil associations in France seem to have become the more politically oriented and organized among the Fil associations in the Schengen nations as a result of the backlash they suffered in the hands of Ambassador Rosario Manalo; they also have keen and good leaders. I know some of their leaders whom I meet quite often.
Also, they were among the ones here in Europe who openly supported Gloria right after the toppling of Estrada and showed their support en masse when she came to visit. So they feel all the more strongly about the two issues I mentioned above, which to me, are rather reasonable and not over-ambitious. However, as you say, they have their own personal aspirations to fulfill for folks back home and would rather not cross swords with whoever is in a position of authority at the Embassy, besides of course, the time that an overt pôlitical activity would require of them is not really conducive to take on the said activity.”

In Bayern, where I live, there are approximately 7,000 Filipinas around. I’d say, 95% of them are married to Germans. If I’m not mistaken, most of them are also leading a good life with their partners now, unlike 25 yrs. ago (that’s how long I’ve here)! For one thing, majority have good jobs and are well-paid. As far as I know, alot spend their vacatons to our beloved country almost every year, and the whole family at that! You see, those who came here with no occupational skills, strive to learn the language as soon as they can ! Ganyan ka-smart and mga Pinay dito!
Germany has also a special program for housewives who’d like to earn extra money. As long as one is willing to do those menial jobs, like janitorial jobs for 10 hours a week or working as salesgirls in fast food outlets on weekends. At dyan magaling ang mga kababayan natin! Ika nga, you’re earning HONESTLY, at hindi nagnanakaw so walang dapat ikahiya! Pre-requisite lang, speak the language!
About their reactions to our country’s political and economic situation, at least may mangilan-ngilan nang nagigising, tulad ko and some of my friends. It will take time. Comfortable kasi ang buhay dito!

Our kababayans in France have not reached the pinacle yet of success, that is if we equate white collar jobs to success. Most of them, I’d say the majority are still doing household help jobs.
There are many who have graduated to better paying jobs and have elevated status today but on the whole, you will find that most of them lack the language skills to compete for white collar jobs on the French market.
Also, this may be due to the fact that Pinoys and Pinays in Europe were attracted by the UK and Germany first and most Filipino professionals naturally went to those two countries first and I reckon the “exodus” started some 2 decades ago. When Germany sort of made it difficult for Filipinos to trek there, the lesser skilled workers went for the other places like France, Belgium, Luxembourg…
I can only surmise that the ones who trekked to the BENELUX countries (along with France) did not possess the determination to learn the language, hence they were left behind by the kababayans working in Germany and the UK. Why do I say this? Because those I’ve met who have been in Belgium or France for quite some time, still do not speak the language and live in a ghetto like environment, content to live among themselves.
From what I’ve observed, there’s been little interest in the culture that the said nations offer and when that happens, it’s very difficult to join the upper-strata of society.
But I do believe that their children or Filipinos born in France and Belgium are now different. Many 18 year-old Filipinos and older have become full-pledged French and Belgians.
I wrote a post in my own blog about a few Filipinas who are doing good in France. They came as domestic helpers and have graduated into better jobs through sheer hard work and of course, as you say, learning the language. But they are still a trickle.
Wouldn’t it be just great if many could follow their footsteps, at least in Europe, after all, Europeans on the whole are civilized, by that I mean they accept anyone who is willing to interact with them and who are interested in their culture.
Those who came as spouses of French or Belgian nationals, of course, had the advantage. They are treated much like their spouses, i.e., as citizens of the country and have access to the same social and economic privileges as those who are naturally-born French or Belgians.
Am glad to observe around our “community” here, that Filipina mothers are really concerned of their children’s education.
Being one of the elders in our Filipino community, I really persuaded the newcomers to learn the language because this is the key to a better life here; not only in landing a job but as a wife of a national. We, the elder ones, organized a Self-help group and it really worked. We don’t have so many, “mail Order Brides ” coming to the country lately (Germany has been very strict on this practice for quite sometime now) and if ever there are new ones, their husbands or their relatives see to it that they learn the language immediately!

The Fil associations in France could do with some help from their German counterpart!
They are extremely close-knit in France and help each other when things go wrong but I still have to see a unified effort to learn the language or at least the determination to communicate in French.
It is estimated that there are more than 20 thousand OFWs in France but majority are illegal so I reckon that makes it difficult for them to go to school and learn the language, although I must say, the community themselves could organize a language course, don’t you think?
I’ve already suggested this to a friend of mine who happens to be the co-chair of the federation of Fil associations and he thought it was a good idea but he says, members might be worried about the expense.
My own maid keeps telling me that she would look into language learning “soon” but hasn’t gotten to that stage yet, it seems. There are evening language courses offered at city hall for a minimum fee of 200 euros a year. I told her that I was prepared to pay for the course because to me it is uncanny for a person to have been here more than 5 years and can only utter a few phrases, not even enough for her to jot down phone messages.
Filipinos in the UK are a little better off. Just like many of the early immigrants in Germany, a lot of them have better work status. (The first nanny of my oldest son was a Filipina nurse who worked for me for 2 years and thereafter moved to Germany and worked as a nurse.)
Many are nurses or in the care business. A lot of them have also set up their own businesses. They have less difficulty evolving because they speak the language.
Same problem in Japan, Anna. Filipinos do not really learn how to speak proper Japanese, and they are contented with that. The maids here are limited to working for foreigners. Japanese are not privileged to get foreign maids. There is the restriction because in principle, it is recognized as something like slavery especially when they work 24 hours a day that is not allowed by labor laws. The truant Philippine government would not even look into such kind of ruling and teach Filipinos to defy the law by playing ignorant!!!
Nevertheless, at least, we have a crowd to depend on when we want to organize a street demonstration here versus the Ale Boba and her countless thieves.

language is a problem for fil immigrants in non english speaking countries. for those married to locals, no problem. some people i know here in norway still speak their own and send their children to english schools for some reason or another, only to find out that language is the key even to their children’s future.some even sent their children to the pinas because they are not accepted to higher educational institutions. unfortunately or fortunately here you cannot pay for your education, once you are not qualified for the academics then one must go to the professional schools. the worst is that some fil look down on professionals like plumbers, carpenters, and the likes. they want their children to be doctors etc.fortunately for us fil here in norway, social security is from cradle to grave.some can even visit the pinas yearly though jobless.but i do not even try to correct them since i am past that stage and it is their life anyway.

It is really an excellent idea to motivate our fellow kababayans to learn the native language of their adopted country. Yes, we did have self help language classes before with the help of Caritas. There’s also an Adult School which offered language classes for a mere 59 Euro per Sem. Now that I am “semi-retired” from my job, I can devout myself in helping our kababayans in the future.

I like the cartoon at Tribune today, and I am saving it as it depicts the present state of the nation.
I find it really unbelievable that the Ale Boba and her thieves are given free reins of the government with graft and corruption more glorified that say during the Marcos regime.
Nevertheless, I would have more faith in the Filipinos than what the Internet Brigade want to achieve blogging here to make even the most daring to chicken out.
Worse is when people like Anna or Spartan are prevented from blogging here to counter the chicken heads and manduduro trying their dumbest to make those calling for return of the rule of law so that justice will prevail, and the criminals sent to jail where they rightfully belong look stupid than wiser.
Be sure your PCs are protected because this legion knows how to send viruses, bugs and worms. One who has followed my advise has told me that he has filtered over a hundred spywares in his PC. One was surprised to find that his computer was actually infected. I told him to get an AVG virus buster. For total clean-up, I use BCWipe.
i wonder about this virus busters. last week i could not enter in the internett in my laptop which use mozilla firefox and got message like avg controll center ready for upgrade but how can one upgrade without going into the nett. anyway i use now either my wife’s stationary or my office stationary computer.

You can’t make a person fight for something he does not want to end as a matter of fact. Moderators and Owners of blogs and forums for Filipinos recognize this legion as a matter of fact. One group led by the daughter as a matter of fact that I doubt even the most persuasive among us would be able to convince to stop supporting and promoting her mother or father for that matter would even try to post publicity stunts of doctored figures like for example how much they have fed the slum dwellers at this and that depressed areas, but the truth is the dwellers have not received anything at all. Another group is the anti-Boba pretenders who would fan the group with all kinds of provocations even revolution as a matter of fact but when it comes to real action, in the end the coward or cowards hibernate. Then you have the in-between who should I think be taken for a check up in the head.
Years of advocating with all kinds of people, and nationalities, I have made up my mind not to try to persuade anyone to join the advocacies I am in. I show by example rather than try to do that. If they are convinced, fine. If not, I lose nothing. Something like take it or leave it. Who cares, because the truth is too many cooks actually spoil the broth!!!

To Ellen and Chabeli, the Filipino community will be hosting a huge welcome mass for Gloria and are expecting 700 Filipinos to attend but they aren’t sure. Ambassador Ortega met with some 50 Pinoy leaders here and each of them is tasked with a “duty”. I’ve just discovered that Gloria is very popular among our kababayans who are “excited”, quoting one leader, about the visit of Gloria. Why am I saying this because I don’t think anybody will have the chance to do a pie throwing. I refuse to attend the mass welcome ceremony because, I will feel hypocritical about it.
I will attend the rally together with anti-Gloria protesters; the rally will be a mix of¨Pinoys, Belgians, Dutch, French… organizers expect no more than 100 people to participate in the rally but local Belgian and European media will be on hand for the occasion.
The organizer of the Stop the Killings in the Philippines protest would have liked Philippine media to cover and so I asked a very close friend of mine who works for the Philippine Star to do it and will cover the demonstration.
Gloria will be meeting with the Prime Minister of Belgium and the President of the European Commission in succession. She will also be at the Senate, Belgian Parliament to discuss federalism, parliamentary mode of government with members of the Belgian parliament.
Two Belgian parliamentarians will be demonstrating with the anti-Gloria group tomorrow; unfortunately, Gloria won’t see the demonstration because the group managed to get rally permit only for Place Schuman, in front of the European Parliament – I suppose, she will be whisked away to other venues.
According to the organizer of the rally, they will not demonstrate in front of the St Michael Cathedral where the mass-reception ceremony will be held in order not to put off the Pinoy OFWs or the Fil community here. They cannot demonstrate in front of the residence of the Belgian Prime Minister because the place is no rally zone.
Their main objective is to call the attention of European parliamentarians to the plight of Filipinos who are opposing Gloria in the countryside and so, prefer to stage the rally in front of the European Parliament.
The rally will be attended by Filipinos from Migrante Europe and by members of Philippine local NGOs who have friends and connections here in Brussels.
I will brief you further when I see them on the spot tomorrow.

E itong si pandak bruha kaya, palitan natin ang birthday ng pinangangalandakan nyang magaling na ama!, palitan natin ang suot nya sa mga portrait sa malacanang?, palitan natin ang pangalan ng macapagal highway pagka nasipa na sya sa EK!!! tingnan ko lang kung di siya maghubad sa galit HAHAHAHA!!!…just look at our maps, pagka nagpalit ng liderado ang mga administrastion, nagkakandarapa silang palitan ang mga pangalan ng kalye in their name. Mga leche!!! Kadiri nalang imagine mo kung may pangalang Paquiao highway?!!! i have nthing against this guy who makes millions for bashing other peoples face (or having his face bashed)..but please, merong guidelines and criteria naman on naming streets, national highways, landmarks, etc para sa isang bansa!!! nay ko po naman!!!..noon nga gustong palitan ang Philippines d b?…ako for one kahit na may pagka notorious na ang connotation sa Filipino(am generalizing pls…), i am proud to be one in one way or the other kahit hindi ako puro…i’d rather have PILIPINAS PASSPORT than any other name!!!!
