No general and senior afp officer can surpass and even match the virtues, intellect, principles and chutzpah of Bgen Lim. It would be an insult to Bgen Lim if somebody in the AFP is likened to him. Gen Lim has long proven himself to possess both physical and moral courage.

2. Lives within his means. A very simple man.
3. Never hesitates to act.
4. Fights unflinchingly and unselfishly
5. Never passes the buck and readily accepts responsibility
6. Very humble man; not an attention-grabber nor advertises himself. he never ingratiates.
7. He can stand by his own.
8. A very dependable man.
when time comes and gen Lim’s sacrifices are rewarded, the filipinos can be assured that he will not become one of the corrupts and corruptors.

Unless there is a Plan C.. for us to engage the services of the NPA. There is no question at all on their patriotism.

Gen Lim is a very unassuming person. Often silent but when he opens his mouth, he speaks his mind, brutally frank and only the truth. Everything he writes comes from his heart.

Parade a tribute to
soldiers’ sacrifices’

THE Armed Forces yesterday justified its decision to revive big but expensive parade of soldiers, battle tanks and flybys of aircraft to celebrate its 73rd anniversary today, saying this is befitting in paying tribute to the sacrifices of its men.
“(It’s) to recognize the heroism of our soldiers, to appreciate the help of the civilian sector and to mark the history, the glorious history of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” said AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Ernesto Torres.
The last time such a parade was held was during the time of then AFP chief now Bases Conversion and Development Authority chief Narciso Abaya five years ago. His successor, Efren Abu, dispensed with the parades in 2004 as part of the government’s austerity measure and claimed savings of millions of pesos.
Abu is now the special envoy to Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines – East ASEAN Growth Area.
This year’s anniversary celebration led by President Arroyo will feature a flyby of several S211 trainer jets, which had been converted as fighter planes, during the ceremony’s pass in review.
“It’s not actually expensive…It will just be a parade and the troops will be coming from those that are in Metro Manila and in nearby places. There will be components from the SF (Special Forces) and SR (Scout Rangers),” he said.
The SF and the SR are elite units under the Army’s Special Operations Command based in Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija which is among the military units in the forefront in the counter-terrorism campaign.
“It’s just a matter of organizing things, using only a minimal amount of budget,” Torres said.
He said he does not know how much has been earmarked for the event. – Victor Reyes

I agree with you. Gen. Lim is one of a kind. He can never be so alike in many ways with anybody. He can stand on his own and does not need to piggy-back. He also shuns personal comfort in favor of his subordinates. He does NOT live off the misery of his comrades in arms. A very simple man, he lives within his means. He does not crave attention for himself, but would rather invite attention to plight of his soldiers and countrymen. He stands tall over those who claim his virtues. Truly an officer and a gentleman.
