It was not Marine Captain Nicanor Faeldon talking in an interview that was aired on television on Tuesday evening, his lawyer said.
“That’s not him. That’s not his style,” said lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles, who represents the fugitive rebel officer in civilian and court martial cases.
At the same time, Angeles said the voice clip could be part of a ploy by the military to force Faeldon out of hiding.
“They are trying to flush him out,” Angeles said in a phone interview Wednesday.
Angeles said her client could be forced to grant an interview to deny the voice clip aired on ABS-CBN, giving troops the chance to arrest him.
“Many strange things are happening when officials are about to retire. It looks like intelligence operatives are looking for a retirement gift,” she said.
“After the nine Magdalo [officers], Captain Faeldon is definitely a prize,” she said, referring to the band of rebel troops that briefly took over the Oakwood Apartments in Makati City on July 27, 2003.
In an interview with reporters at the Subic Bay Freeport, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. denied Angeles’ claim.
“No, the government is not baiting him [Faeldon] to come out, the government is looking for him to arrest him,” Teodoro said.
The defense chief said the military has not furnished him a report on the purported Faeldon voice tape.
The interview was aired on ABS-CBN. In it, Faeldon supposedly expressed disappointment in the decision of nine of his fellow rebel soldiers to plead guilty for coup d’etat before the Makati regional trial court and seek presidential pardon.
Faeldon also purportedly criticized Senator Gregorio Honasan for siding with the Arroyo administration.
Honasan was charged with coup d’etat, along with Faeldon and 28 other junior officers over the 2003 siege, to protest alleged corruption in government.
The charges against Honasan were dropped.
Angeles said Faeldon also never criticized fellow rebel soldiers who had changed their pleas.
She added that the voice did not sound like that of her client.
“When did Captain Faeldon have a Visayan accent?” Angeles said in jest.
The lawyer added that it was unlikely for a fugitive to say that he was going in and out of Metro Manila, as the voice in the tape claimed.
Malaya story
Tago lang Kapitan!
Nagtaka nga ako sa interview na yan and did not believe even a bit it was the Kapitan. Maniniwala lang ako kung manggagaling kay Atty. Trixie and balita, no more, no less!
Teodoro is a skunk cabbage!
Anything could happen in this evil regime. To be safe, let’s not immediately believe what we hear and see even if it comes from a friendly media like ABS-CBN. This giant TV network has changed colors a few times. It’s all about rating and business.
Faeldon. Isa syang tunay na Magiting na Kawal. Mabuhay ka Kapitan!
It’s not correct to just say we don’t care whoever he is. We see Malacanang pulling another trick by using an impostor to mislead the public. Do we keep quiet? Do we allow media like ABS-CBN to be used as a tool by whoever benefits from this? That’s the point.
A sister had long waited for a brother in her death bed, and when he called, she just saved her last breath to say goodbye to him.
Army Scout Ranger Maj. Jason Aquino never made it to see his sister before she died Monday morning. And to this day, that request, although approved by the military court, has never been honored by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Hermogenes Esperon Jr. (www.tribuneonline.org)

My prayers for the eternal rest of your beloved sister, Major Aquino.
Off topic pero marami talagang kalokohan itong si Gloria Dorobo and her minions. May pakulo na naman sila re her first justice secretary who was rumored to be her paramour na isa pang walang ka-taste-taste.
“Graft charges ordered filed vs Gloria’s first justice secretary,” says a Malaya banner, but reading through the whole article, one gets the impression that the target is more like Erap than Perez. Wala silang niloko as a matter of fact.
Dagdag lang sa napupunong kaban ng kabulastugan. Who knows, we may one of these days see the fulfillment of what they commonly say in the Philippines, “Pag napupuno, kinakalos.” Sana nga!
Iyan ang masakit, Chi, not to see a dying loved one lalo na iyong gustung-gustong magpaalam sa iyo. I had that experience last year. Remember? Ti
My sincere condolence and sympathy plus my full support for Major Aquino, et al. Mabuhay silang tunay na mga bayani!
Well, what can we expect from Teodoro?..sa binasaya ti-iodoro yan..so flush him down the drain..madumi..Sugar Honey Iced Tae..
..Capt. Faeldon..we are praying for you safety..May God be with you..
The charge against ex-DOJ Justice Nani Perez by the Ombudsman is just a show. Gee, the case has been filed seven years ago.
It’s only now that they’re attending to it. Even if this is true, Ombudsman will acquit Nani like what happened to the corrupt Gen. Garcia acquitted of two perjury charges. Malacanang is now consistently using the same trick these days: Ignore cases filed against Malacanang friends or pretend to charge them and then acquit them. Until this day, no big fish, military or civilian, identified with Malacanang has ever been convicted. Do you know anyone?
I believe Atty. Angeles. Just watched that news on this hoax planned by the Pidal brigades to discredit a lot many supporters of the Magdalo, including Atty. Angeles, no doubt.
I doubt if the real Faeldon would be that stupid enough to even admit that he has changed his voice and accent.
Golly, sobra namang mang-insult si Gloria Dorobo at mga galamay niya to belittle the mentality of the Filipinos with this hoax!
Chi,
Sa totoo lang napaiyak ako d2…
A sister had long waited for a brother in her death bed, and when he called, she just saved her last breath to say goodbye to him.
Army Scout Ranger Maj. Jason Aquino never made it to see his sister before she died Monday morning. And to this day, that request, although approved by the military court, has never been honored by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Hermogenes Esperon Jr.
So, Ces Drillon is a fool then. She doesn’t even know kung sino yong ini-interview nya!!!
As Mike Defensor said to Jun Lozada, tatrabahoin lang natin yan sa media…
Chi,
Very moving ang story about the death of Army Maj. Aquino’s sister!
Your days will come Asspweron! Something has to end somehow! And JUSTICE will be thrown before your face!
My sincere condolence to Major Aquino and his family! Let’s pray for the repose of his sister’s soul!
Elvie, Irene,
Actually, dito ako na-touched na husto:
“My request to visit my ailing sister had been on his desk since Nov. 2007. That request was endorsed for favorable approval twice by the General Court Martial Panel. Still that request was not acted upon. Now my sister is dead. If he (Esperon) thinks I will beg for mercy just to be able to attend the wake of my beloved sister, Esperon is very wrong. For I beg no mercy but justice…”

Major Jason Aquino is indeed a Man of Honor!
ABS-CBN said they contacted the man claiming to be Faeldon and here’s what he said:
Is this the action of a man on the run? Do you believe it?
Not a bit, Ellen.
I dont’ think Capt. Nick talks that way, it’s not a tone of an officer and a gentleman that is Faeldon.
I don’t believe it, Ellen. This is for me an attempt to make Trixie angry at Faeldon so that he cannot expect any more help from anybody.
From what I heard of the gallant captain, he cannot be this hoax, especially one who seems to even admit na careless at inutil siya! Surely, Faeldon is not that careless and stupid.
Walang niloko si Esperon and his men at the ISAFP. Niloko nila ang mga sarili nila. Besides, doon na lang sa sinabing may usapan na wala naman since there was not even a time to confer with the Magdalos during the Manila Pen siege except for the reporters to try to get a scope as in the case of Dana of Jiji Press alam na nating nanloloko talaga.
Akala ni Dorobo siya lang ang matalino kundi pa nating alam na kamote siya, magaling lang maglagay who reminds me of the caricature of a sipsip who gives a teacher an apple to get an A!
Diyan magaling si Gloria and minions. Manang-mana sa lolo niya.
How come they are very much convinced that was the voice of Faeldon as a gospel truth while they deny the lady’s voice on the Garci tapes to be that of the mighty Glo.
I am just curious why somebody like Capt. Faeldon would risk apprehension just to rant against Gringo? By giving an interview, intelligence operatives would have a good grasp of the general location of Faeldon. His statements would already provide leads as to his whereabouts, if he has accomplices, what would be his pattern of behavior. Also, as mentioned by another blogger, it also provides an opportunity for a leak. So given this risks, you have to evaluate the content of the interview. Was the content of the interview enough for a man of Faeldon’s intelligence and capabilities to risk apprehension? I dont think so. Because if Faeldon was as stupid as that, then Esperon would already have his hands on him long ago.
again, one of Malacanang’s tricks to divert attention from the real stories.
to Capt Nick, may you continue to hold steadfast to your beliefs and ideals….we stand behind you.
OFF TOPIC:
My deepest sympathies to Maj. Jason Aquino and his family in their time of bereavement. Esperon has shown how he has been utterly corrupted by GMA, by not even honoring the plea of a dying sister. Such a heartless gesture when even in war–latitude is given by warring parties for the dead and dying. Truly, Esperon has become a monster without a morsel of Honor in his soul–just like his boss.
GMA, alis na!

Yes, Nelbar.
I still ask for a resolution of the Burgos disappearance. As well as all those who have disappeared or who have been victims of political killings. Do not be mistaken in thinking that we look at the personalities involved…Gringo Honasan was a military man–but i dont think many people here pray for him. Its the ideals and what these people believe in and fight for that matters.
First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt condolence to Major Jason Aquino. We know how much pain you have in your heart even up to this moment, not to have seen a dying sister before her journey towards the great beyond. I’ve read your comment to Esperon and although we know that what you’ve said doesn’t really matter to him (his heart is calloused), it still counts a lot when people like you, in spite of the miserable circumstances you’re in, remain steadfast and insisted on justice rather than mercy. Be strong, sir. We’re pulling for you.
Regarding the alleged telephone interview of Capt. Faeldon on T.V., I’ve noticed a couple of things that was highly unusual of the speaker. First was his open criticism on Honassan. It is not the character of a genuine Magdalo soldier to openly criticize a fellow Magdalo. By now we have all observed that not one of the Magdalos said anything damaging to those of them who have changed their plea from “not guilty” to “guilty” in exchange for their freedom. Senator Trillanes is in detention for more than five years but he has never put the blame on Honassan for abandoning them. When asked by the media of their (Magdalo) comment concerning the abrupt change of heart by the nine co-accused, all of them mentioned that they respect the decision of Gambala and company. Secondly, this impostor, during his entire interview, never mentioned anything about the group’s ideals and its continued struggle against this present administration. No message of encouragement was given to the remaining Magdalos still in detention. Lastly, he even mentioned his pattern of movement! Information such as having less hours of sleep (an hour of sleep at times), difficulty of moving from place to place, etc., … Capt. Faeldon isn’t stupid to give such statements. If it was indeed Capt. Faeldon who gave this interview, he wouldn’t even have the time to air his grievance against Honassan. Instead, he would have continued to insist for justice not only for himself but also for his comrades still in detention.
Sometime during ex-president Aquino’s regime, Honassan, a fugitive at that time, was eventually caught because of giving a personal interview. Though the interviewer was blindfolded on his way to Honassan, he told the military about the humps on the street leading to Honassan’s safehouse. The humps then indicated that the area was a subdivision. As the blindfold was removed, the interviewer noticed a distinct tower from a window view. It didn’t take long for the military intelligence at that time that the place was somewhere in Valle Verde, Pasig. Since Honassan had a bounty on his head, it’s not hard to figure out that the interviewer cashed in on that one. I hope Capt. Faeldon would not make a mistake of just offering a personal interview to just any personality in the media. There are some people in the media who share the same sentiments as most of us bloggers. We know who they are. But there are also some who only value their jobs and possibly the T.V. ratings the station would be getting for such interview. The one million peso bounty on Capt. Faeldon’s head is an insult. You can never measure in terms of money what these men in the Magdalo are worth. The ideals that these real soldiers are fighting for is priceless. These men are worth being addressed as Captain, Major, Colonel, Senator. Except of couse for Honassan. Besides the mistakes in spelling and grammar at my blog yesterday, I addressed Honassan as “Senator”. I believe he doesn’t deserve this title. He has long allied himself with this administration care of Enrile, his patron. I can’t help but be suspicious of some bloggers who call Gloria “President Arroyo” or Esperon “General”. Could it be that it was a slip of their subconscious to have addressed these undeserving people such distinguished titles? Some kind of a force of habit? Since this administration is fully aware of Ellen’s stand, it would not be a surprise if they plant a blogger or perhaps two, just to monitor “what’s going on.”

You hit it right on the spot!
Excellent post, George.
Maiam Grizzy,
From what I heard of the gallant captain, he cannot be this hoax” Parang si Atty po ang naging low class.
Ma’am Grizzy, not Maiam.
Laywer Trixie Angeles “insisted that it was not the real Faeldon who was interviewed over a television phone-patch last Tuesday, noting that it could be part of a military effort to trace her client’s whereabouts”. http://www.tribuneonline.org
Atty. Trixie also said that Capt. Nick vowed to continue fighting this fake government.
“Bacarro also said the military has not validated whether the voice on the tape was that of Faeldon since the quality of the audio is not clear.”
Ano yan, another “I have two (tapes) discs”?! What a moron!
I don’t like what ABS-CBN did, airing the tape which the station itself did not validate. Ang ginawa lang ay follow-up interview of someone who was too willing to be caught! It’s not responsible reporting at all! Nakakaduda itong ABS-CBN!
Ow, kaya pala…Asspweron’s boys “are working hard to capture Capt. Nick Faeldon before his retirement day”, Ernie Maceda said in his column.
Trying hard to flush out the Kapitan ha. This is a kind of emergency to make the Ass happy and to show off that his evilness deserves the DND porfolio. Asspweron does not have to prove to Korap Gloria anything, e siya lang naman ang buhay ng impakta.
Ingat!
Breaking news. Lumitaw na ang fake Faeldon and he has claimed that he was hired by the PNP to imitate Faeldon and partake of the P1M reward. http://www.gmanews.tv/story/90585/Man-PNP-hired-me-to-mimic-Capt-Faeldon
As usual, PNP Chief Razon now denies it like how he denied in that unsuccessful kidnap attempt on Jun Lozada. All government and military agencies of thie evil GMA government are consistently behaving the same…deny whenever their evil acts are discovered.
