HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all the 1977 graduates of NEHS. Getting together after all these years is something really to be thankful for. Enjoy your reunion…I am not from Nueva Ecija, but I frequented Talavera years ago, a very dear friend is from there.
ala’y mali ‘ata.
Sayang! The Joson boys were schooled at San Beda and not in the local NE high school.
Speaking of NEHS, this school is located in Cabanatuan.Legend says that the name came from Kaban ng Tuwa meaning Sack of Joy,since the people there seems to be quite happy. Another legend has it that it came from the word Kabatuhan meaning a place full of stones. I tend to believe the first since there are not so many stones there. By the way, the Josons are not from Cabanatuan.
norphil: I like both legends. Indeed I find people from there a happy group of people. Marami din ang bato dian..hindi ba may ilog between Talavera and Cabanatuan. I have fond memories of Talavera and Fort Laur. And talking of Talavera, hindi ba taga roon ang mga Joson?
Ano, naubusan na ba ng topic? Absent kasi yung teacher, wala namang principal kaya walang na-appoint na substitute teacher.
Ayun, nagbulakbol ang mga estudyante!
Graduate ako ng Elevated School of Has Bamboo – Mataas na Paaralan ng Meycauayan.
Bumabaha. Marami isda huli.

Ms. Ellen,
Off-topic lamang po:
I just saw in the news the other day that the office of the honorable(?) noli “kayabang” de castro rescued the three pinays from prostitution in Malaysia. However, upon verification from friends its not true.
According to informations its not him who rescued the three pinays, nakikisawsaw lang naman sya, kasi nga balak na sigurong tumakbo sa pagka presidente nang mayabang na yan.
Accordingly, his office send a letter to another agency in Manila to help rescue these pinays, but before he even sent his letter the three pinays are already being rescued in Malaysia.
Ms. ellen why dont you ask these pinays to validate this report.
The honorable (?) noli “kayabang” de castro, just like her lady boss, the leprechaun, is a credit grabber, why not give the credit to the one who deserves it.

Rose: It’s true, there is a river, Agno river if i remember the name right, one of the longest in Luzon, between Talavera and Cabanatuan.I am not sure if Laur was once a fort but I always remember it as a town. The Josons are not from Talavera but a small town called Quezon where eduardo joson was mayor for many years before he became governor. He was a war hero who became a politician after the war.I am not so fond of their story because they never gave up their arms and private army even after the war. Talavera was a town full of hukbalahaps after the war but most of them stopped after magsaysay.
norpil,
palayan city, where fort magsaysay is located was formerly a part of laur.
thanks mrivera. i remember now, palayan city was made the capital of nueva ecija.
isn’t it cabanatuan city the capital of nueva ecija?
pinalitan na ba?
tanda ko pinalitan, hindi ko alam kung ibinalik uli. i remember it was one of the pet projects of the old joson.
Correction. I’m not from Nueva Ecija. I’m not part of the homecoming. The announcement was just requested by a friend of my niece.
Sorry, I was not clear about it. I was in hurry when I posted it in advance.
thanks Mrivera at norpil.
Norphil:What I remember is Fort Magsaysay was a training ground for new PMA graduates. I spent many weekends at the Fort. There is a beautiful lake by the Club house, which I thought was man made but my friend with whom I was with the past two weeks said it is not. Ang ganda ganda. It was there I saw the military tanks used in WWII were kept then. The kind that we saw in Ellen’s post of the Capinpin trial.. I hope the ones we saw in Capinpin were not the same ones I saw at Fort Magsaysay..kasi I am talking of mid 60s, before you were born. Nueva Ecija is a rich province-after all isn’t it the rice granary of the country. I just hope the ricelands were not made into modern subdivisions. I have been to the ends of Nueva Ecija as well..Munoz where CLAC is (buhay pa ba?) and San Jose where there is a river..deep but beautiful. Again I hope these places have not been “reconstructed” for modern commercial purposes. Sayang!
norphil: hindi ba from Nueva Ecija you can see the ranges of the Cordillera mountains? And this is where Tirad Pass is? This is a historical place isnt it? I was told that the view of the rice terraces from Tuguerarao Cagayan Valley is much beautiful..I have not seen the rice terraces from that angle..Sayang if only we have good roads we could enjoy the beauty of our country.
rose:as much as i would like to be younger, i have to correct the impression that i was born after the mid 60’s.i am probably older than you..CLAC is now CLSU and is a leading agricultural university, probably better than UP los banyos when it comes to rice production. I am not so well versed with the geography of san jose though.
norpil, rose,
rose: yes you can see the cordilleras from the outskirts of cabanatuan.. Tirad Pass, i am not sure if it is on which boundary, nueva ecija or vizcaya. but it is really historical.. del pilar made his last stand there to stop the capture of aguinaldo by the americans.it was supposed to be a secret pass but was given to the americans by a filipino traitor.
Rose, Adebrux:
I was out for a while, belated Happy Thanksgiving. How was the Turkey? I have to do mine which has been the tradition now for over 20 yrs, it was good. Well my topic, I am from Nueva Ecija, yun nga lang di sa NESH (but my father I believed was a product of NESH), sa General De Jesus Academy Batch 76. The Joson’s (Kamlon) are actually our close relatives on my mother side.
Rose, did you watch the parade? AdeBrux, chill the Stella and lets raise the glass, Cheers! Skoll, Salud… Yugyugan na…
Totie: Thanks. I have been away for two weeks- and had a bad case of the “jet lag” that took me a couple of days to come to the realization that I am now in the jungles of Jersey City. Met a number of Filipinos working as OFWs. As a matter of fact in the Pilgrim House we stayed in Tiberias.. the gift shop was managed by Filipino Benedictine nuns and most of them were from Davao and Cebu. There was a group of OFWs (caregivers working in Telaviv) having their retreat as well..The lady I sat next to at the plane told me that her father has a wonderful caregiver from the Philippines..It was nice to hear about it but found it sad that they have to be away from their “young famjilies” and they asked “Manang please pray for us”.
Totie: Did you get to see Chi? Kailan tayo mag get together? Taga Nueva Ecija ka pala. I spent many weekends at Talavera and Munoz. A very good friend (I was with her the last two weeks) is from Talavera and her family was in politics..(kalaban pa ata ni Joson I am not too sure if tinalo siya ni Joson sa pagka governor or vice versa- but I know he was a governor and a House Rep). Maraming taga Nueva Ecija dito sa JC as a matter of fact the family I spent Thanksgiving Day is from Cabanatuan..and I would not be surprised if you know them–have you heard of Maharlika, Inc?
Tongue: I didn’t get to watch the parade- not even in TV..nakatulog ako and besides ang lamig lamig..It is bundle up time again..layers layers na naman -nakakatamad lumabas. But I did go out this morning and it took me more than half a day to go to the Cloisters..I had to get a copy of their book and Cloisters is at the other end of Manhattan. Beautiful sights though..the foliage is simply beautiful..”falling leaves drift by the window” ang gandang tingnan. People took advantage of the sale..stores were opened real early..5:00 am..Macy’s was and till noon the prices of many items were really slashed..kaya lang siksikan. Unbedlievable..
Rose;
My son bought me some designer shirts, shoes and pants but, I can only wear it if it’s been washed 3 times, he gave me a receipts for the credit card.
rose;
No smoking and drinking.Hehehehe!
pareng cocoy,
he he he heh.
Pareng Mrivera;
