Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos, meanwhile said, they will proclaim on Wednesday the top ten winners in the senatorial race. They are, Loren Legarda (GO), Francis Escudero (GO), Panfilo Lacson (GO), Manuel Villar (GO), Francis Pangilinan (IND), Benigno Aquino, Jr. (GO), Edgardo Angara (TU), Alan Peter Cayetano (GO), Joker Arroyo (TU), Gregorio Honasan (IND).
In the last two slots are Antonio Trillanes IV and Aquilino Pimentel IV, both of the Genuine Opposition.
At number 13, trying desperately to get into the Magic circle is Miguel Zubiri(TU).

First of all, if there are no other Catholic countries in Asia, not even a fake President like her can use the superlative “most devout.” Gloriang tanga, ang “most” ay ginagamit lang if there are at least two other things to compare the first thing with. Even my grade school kids know this. Tanga.
Did you perhaps mean that the Philippines is the “most devout” Catholic country in the world? Kung gayon, it’s even more devout than Vatican itself? Aba’y kung gayon, ikaw pala ay more popish than the pope.
Second of all, if the pope wishes to praise the Philippines for its piety, well and good. But please, Gloria, don’t act like a KSP and remind him about it. Boy, did you really have to treat the pontiff to your patent crassness?
Thirdly, Ratzinger is a hundred times sharper than you so he doesn’t really need any geography lessons. He already knows that the Philippines is the only Catholic country in Asia. So cut the crap, Ok?

Guys, let me capsulized the statements of the new Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, the Honorable Antonio Trillanes:
1. It was an “injustice” to keep the group of ex-Marine commandant Major General Renato Miranda, ex-Army Scout Rangers chief Brigadier General Danilo Lim, and Marine Colonel Ariel Querubin in jail. Other people deserve to go to jail, not them.
2. They (Gloria and her cohorts) miscalculated. They thought pouring in P200 million for each candidate and adding one million [votes to each candidate] would be enough to propel them to victory.
3. When queried if he would ask Zubiri and Recto to concede, Trillanes said: “I will leave it up to them and their conscience. If they want to win through cheating, it’s up to them.”
4. Will pursue charges against Comelec officials involved in the alleged cheating operations. He said he would reveal evidence on the supposed anomalies in due time. These erring Comelec officials shouldn’t tamper with the people’s will.
5. The only way for this country to move forward is to move Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo out of the way. Will support her impeachment.
6. Asked what he would say to those who downplayed his chances of winning, Trillanes said: “They got the message loud and clear. More than a protest vote, it is a vote for change.”
7. Lastly, he said he would not ask to be removed from his Marine Brig detention.

The race to the finish certainly, could not be likened to that of Biazon and Barbers way back, for you know or at least must have realized that the last CoC’s to be counted would have to come from Maguindanao, a place where elections at best was conducted surreptiously in some banana plantations ran by local warlords, and in its worst, in many towns no elections was conducted at all.
To concede, at this juncture, would make electoral nightmare in the area lighter to unmake, and reforms possible to institute. What could be the better way to provide a lasting legacy on your name, to the province?
Thus, if you continue to pin your hopes out from this province’s results and cinch the 12th and final slot given the tampered and adulterated votes; does not it make your victory, Phyrric, a hollow one, at the expense of a lone province?
To concede is the only honorable option left. Or face the real possibility of being a lameduck representative of Mindanao.

Though I agree in his reasoning that senators should avoid airing their personal opinions in case they sit as “judges” in an impeachment trial, I think Escudero should not have spoken out that harshly against the one issue that galvanized the people together into voting overwhelmingly for GO.
