Nang pumutok ang isyu tungkol sa pagbenta ni Mike Arroyo sa Philippine National Police ng gamit na helicopter sa presyo ng bago, ininterbyu si Iggy sa TV at doon nalaman na nasa London pala siya at nagpapagamot dahil sa sakit sa atay (cirrhosis of the liver). Payat nga siya.
Kahit may isyu tayo sa ibang tao, lalo na sa opisyal ng pamahalaan, gusto natin panagutin sila ngaunit ayaw natin na may mangyaring masama sa kanila.
Maraming leksyun ang makukuha natin sa nangyayari ngayon sa mga Arroyo na nasa kapangyarihan ng siyam na taon. Ngayon, bumaligtad ang kanilang mundo. Naka-hospital arrest si Gloria Arroyo at maraming mabibigat na kaso ang nakasampa sa kanya.
Wala sa ospital ang kanyang asawang si Mike ngunit delikado rin ang kalusugan dahil nakaranas na rin siya ng atake sa puso. May mga kaso na ring nakasampa kay Mike.
Naging kontrobersyal si Iggy dahil dalawang beses na sinalo niya ang kanyang kapatid na si Mike sa kontrobersiya. Una ay ang pag-aari ng bank accounts na sa pangalan na “Jose Pidal” pangalawa, ang tungkol sa mga helicopter na ibinenta sa PNP. Sabi niya bilang president ng kumpanya ng pamilya, siya ang nakaka-alam tungkol sa helicopter, hindi ang kanyang kapatid na si Mike.
Ang kontrobersya naman kay Iggy ay tungkol sa kanyang personal na buhay. Ayun sa balita ngayon, sinabi na Lorna Kapunan, abogado ng kanyang asawa na si Alicia Aroryo na baka samoahan ng kaso si Grace Ibuna dahil sa kanyang desisyun na tanggalin ang life support system na siyang bumuhay kay Iggy mula Miyerkules nang nagkaroon siya ng heart attack.
Sabi ni Kapunan, wala raw karapatan si Grace magdesisyun dahil hindi siya ang legal na asawa. Inamin din ni Alicia na hiwalay sila ni Iggy mula pa noong 2005.
Ang unang asawa ni Iggy ay si Marilen Jacinto, kapatid ng negosyante na musikero na si RJ Jacinto.
Noong 2006, nagpalitan ng akusayon sina Alicia, na isang stock broker, at si Iggy dahil sa pera sa kanilang joint bank account at maraming ari-arian. Ang usap-usapan sa business community ay nilimas daw ni Alicia ang dollar account nilang mag-asawa at nakakalula ang bilang. Ang tanong nga ng marami, ‘Paano sila ng nagkaroon ng ganun kadaming pera?’
Hindi lang daw si Iggy ang galit sa ginawa ni Alicia. Pati rin daw si Mike. Ang kumento nga ng marami, ‘Hindi kaya kay Mike pera yun?’
Sabi ng mga nakakakilala sa mga Arroyo, mabait daw si Iggy. Siguro nga. Kaya palagi niya sinasalba ang kanyang kapatid na si Mike.
Depende sa pagkakilalala natin kay Iggy Arroyo, iba-iba ang leksyun na makukuha sa kanyang makulay na buhay.

Hello Ellen,
I have always admired you, your bravery and admirable articles that you have written.
I just want to comment about the late Iggy arroyo’s women…..It is very simple if you get away from all the legal views and make life easier for everyone.
I just think that the wishes of the Iggy should be respected and his daughter Bianca is aware of that. Alelie on the other hand should also respect those wishes even though she is still the legal wife.
She was never there beside Iggy when he had his treatments and I believe that they were separated long time ago.
Mahirap ba yung tanggapin? Wala na sanang questions of legality kundi yung sino at ano yung gusto ng namatay na lang sana ang masusunod.
Aleli should talk to the daughter and ask what is the best to be done and ask about Iggy’s last wishes. Patay na nga yung tao, pinahihirapan pa. Kahit other woman si Grace he was part of Iggy’s life until he died.
I know that in the Philippines mahirap pa rin talagang buksan yung isip ng mga tao.But come to think of it mas magaan yung paglalakbay ni Iggy kung i-respeto na lang sana yung wishes niya.
Patay na si Iggy ano pa yung mapapala ni Alelie? Except to prove that she was the legal wife? Grace was not the reason why they got separated. Mahirap lang talaga sigurong tanggapin na may iba ng mahal si Iggy.
Right now, what they need to do is pray and peace to everyone para okay na rin yung namatay…Saka na lang yung legalidad. For sure Iggy left his Last Will and Testament and doon na sila magbakbakan.
Ngayon respeto muna sa last wishes niya. Let us hear what the daughter will say. Baka pag pinilit ni Alelie na dalhin at iburol doon sa La Vista baka mapanaginipan pa niya si Iggy na hindi maganda.
Let us try to understand and see the whole situation from the human point of view and away from IBP’s or Lorna Kapunan’s point of view….Respect the last wish of the dead, kahit ano pa ito…leave the legal issues for later.

1. Money stolen from the people won’t cure your disease. Yes, it will afford you expensive treatment. Imagine, having your treatment in London. But it will not save you.
2. Money stolen from the people does not translate to a happy family.
3. Money stolen from the people won’t buy you good reputation.
Moral of the story: Don’t steal people’s money. Even if you are just fronting for your brother.

Bakit nagwawala ngayon si Alelie when she did not even take care of Iggy in his deathbed, sumilip man lang ba sya?
Sa kasong ito ni Iggy, I can now understand clearly why in some States there’s a common law marriage.
Lesson: Huwag nmong sundin ang nakakatandang kapatid kung masama ang pinagagawa, maagang kang mamamatay.
Sobrang iyak daw ni GMA at ni FG nung nabalitaan nila na namatay na si Iggy. Hagulgol nilang sinabi na: “Ang pera namin na pinaghirapan naming kitain (nakawin), mapupunta na sa asawa. Huhuhu.”

I humbly disagree with #2.
I look at it at the point of view of the woman who was legal and faithful.
Yes, the legal have the option to just remain quiet… again?
Me thinks Iggy should have resolved this before dying. He should (assuming he did not) made a legal declaration of what he wants to happen. He should have reached out to his wife. And truly Iggy left the issue hanging by still being married legally speaking to someone else.
Assuming that he did not, then the kabit should politely reach out to the legal wife (pakumbaba na sya) and did not misrepresent herself. She should know her place, na di sya yung asawa.
Let us also remember, that there are reasons why we afford the married wife the legitimate status. And that includes inheritance and also possibly insurance reasons.
Di ko rin alam kung may anak si Iggy at si Alicia. People should consider that.
Si Grace, granted mahal sya ni Iggy (which i wonder to say bakit? haha) can not claim any of the abovementioned and thus should not have misrepresented herself.
I hope we don’t confuse this Iggy episode as a good reason for divorce. We should remember that the fault is with Iggy.
Pahamak talaga tong mga Arroyo. Even in death they causes problems to society.

There is a TMZ episode talking about Kobe and his wife’s divorce (a lot pertains to American setting) but one important item i remembered on that well played episode:
The court does not want to get into who’s fault, who’s right, who’s wrong. (California is a no fault state). At the end of the day, the court sees the agreement both parties entered, and decide on that.
Bottomline, legal is Alicia so all parties should have considered her and not downplay her.
That to me is what it is should be. They claim this is Iggy’s wish. or that. Sabi lang nila yun. Not unless may legal document at it does not superseed the previous agreement (marriage) unless napagusapan nila itong magasawa, binding pa rin yung kasal.
Which is why i fault Iggy on this. He should have reached out to Alicia and not put a proxy war using Grace dahil talo si Iggy dyan.
In short, duwag si Iggy. Dapat hinarap nya yung problema (him knowing time is near) and fixed everything.
I’m never impressed with Kapunan (representing the wife), but i think Kapunan has more merits to comment on this matter than a bitter fruit.
Chi, remember what I posted last year about Iggy’s state of health ? I said he would eventually die because scarred liver due to cirrhosis is irreversible. Even a liver transplant is not a guarantee he would have lived long. Kung baga eh, he was doomed from the start.
Ang ipinag-tataka ko lang, bakit pumunta pa siya ng London para magpa-gamot ? Kayang-kaya ng mga duktor natin na gamutin siya sa Pilipinas (kung halimbawang puwede pang gamutin). In the US, before the patient is wheeled into an emergency room, it is SOP that names with their corresponding signatures of people assigned to decide on what has to be done in case the life support system will be taken down is readied by the hospital or the social worker assigned to the patient. The patient assigns the signatories or the decision makers on turning off the life support. This is if the patient has not prepared a durable trust and if the real spouse is not around. This eliminates complications of legalities after the death of the patient.
Kaya siguro todo ang iyak ni pandak at fatso, paano na ngayon yung “Jose Pidal” account at mga iba pang mga bank accounts nila na nasa pangangalaga ni Iggy?
Could work both ways too, katulad ng nangyari kay Gen Reyes. Noong nagpakamatay si General, hindi na hinabol ng gobierno and mga perang nakaw niya. The wife and the children get to enjoy the “loot”. The evil couple could very well enjoy the same thing. Lahat ng “loot” na nasa pangalan ni Iggy eh hindi na hahabulin ng gobierno.

Perhaps, he chose to live in London until his death per instruction of his pig brother who also gave him instructions to stash Pidals millions somewhere in Europe. whoever is the legal guardian of the patient at the time the decision has to be made, (not necessarilly the legal wife) then the decision must be respected…one has to remember that Britain follows the Common law and not the written law of the Philippines.
Actually, in most commonwealth countries if Iggy has executed his will, he can deny any one the right to his wealth including his legal wife and his Children and give all his money (illgotten or otherwise) to me and Grace.
