The celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19 becomes more meaningful because the public will be able to view the original manuscripts of his famous novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, at the National Library, courtesy of the German conservators who have meticulously restored the national hero’s works.
Aside from “Noli” and “Fili,” the conservators worked on Guillermo Tell, Rizal’s translation of Friedrich Schiller’s William Tell.
The project of restoring Rizal’s works is a joint project of the National Library of the Philippines and the German government.
“The ultimate objective (of the restoration project) is to leave a legacy to another generation,” said NLP Director Antonio M. Santos.

This reminds me to revisit them for further appreciation of Lolo Jose’s works. I remember when I first read them I have goosebumps all over my body while cursing, parang lumalaki ang ulo ko!

Ellen, Joeseg’s son Noli was named after the book. Pinagpipilitan ni Joeseg na mismong haba ng Noli Me Tangere and ipangalan sa kawawang baby, hahaha! Ganyan kamahal ni Joeseg na Jose rin named after our hero Lolo Jose naman. Pero na-override yata sya ni misis. Yung isang anak ay muntik ng pangalanan na El Filibusterismo naman. hahaha!

para sa isang Filipino,hindi ba mas maganda basahin ang mga isinulat ni rizal sa salitang original??bilang isang Filipino,karapatan natin na mag aral ng castellano,salitang nag bugkos-bugkos sa atin at nagtulak sa ating mga bayani upang mag karoon ng revolution,salitang nagturo sa ating ninuno kung ano ang kahalagahan ng palabra de honor.

Conchologist si Lolo Pepe, kanino kaya nya pinamana ang shell collection? Ang ganda sigurado ng koleksyun nya.
If I may add, Joe, Pepe was also a sportsman. He excelled in fencing and shooting.
Sabi pa ng kaibigan ko, kahit di raw si Pepe nakapag-specialize, nagpractice din siya ng Gynecology. Hehehe.
