Snooty and ignorant

Mai Mislang (left) and her defender, Abigail Valte, deputy presidential spokesperson
Will somebody please give Mai Mislang, the “hardworking and trusted” speechwriter of President Aquino, according to her boss Secretary Ricky Carandang of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office, a copy of guidelines on social media?

The ones available in the internet are by the U.S. National Public Radio and the Los Angeles Times.

The guidelines have been issued in the advent of what is now called social media (Facebook and Twitter are the most popular) where the line between private and public statements has become blurred.

This part from the NPR guideline should be underlined for Mislang: “Recognize that everything you write or receive on a social media site is public. Anyone with access to the web can get access to your activity on social media sites. And regardless of how careful you are in trying to keep them separate, in your online activity, your professional life and your personal life overlap.”

This should also be relevant to Mislang: “You should conduct yourself in social media forums with an eye to how your behavior or comments might appear if we were called upon to defend them as a news organization (in her case Office of the President). In other words, don’t behave any differently online than you would in any other public setting.”

This is the part from LA Times that should also be underlined for Mislang: “ Assume that your professional life and your personal life will merge online regardless of your care in separating them.

“ Even if you use privacy tools (determining who can view your page or profile, for instance), assume that everything you write, exchange or receive on a social media site is public.”

Mislang suddenly became infamous last Thursday, when as a member of presidential delegation to Hanoi (for a state visit and the 17th Asean summit), she attended a state dinner and twitted her boss, Carandang, that “the wine sucks.”

Carandang didn’t see anything wrong with the disrespectful comments and even asked which one, white or red wine. Mislang’s reply:”Red, the white is fine.” (A DFA source said the wine was Chilean, not Vietnamese.)

Mislang’s disparage of her host didn’t end there. She also tweeted, “Sorry pero walang pogi dito.” (Sorry, there are no handsome men here.)

The tweet on the motorcycles (“Crossing the speedy motorcycle laden streets of Hanoi is one of the easiest ways to die.”) is not as offensive as the other two.

In all these tweets, she put the hashtag ”Vietnam”, which means it is grouped by twitter in tweets about Vietnam. That’s how Mislang, inadvertently perhaps, further internationalized her insults to Vietnam, that went all out to extend courtesy and kindness to the Philippine delegation despite a last minute change of dates of Aquino’s state visit.

A DFA source said the news on Mislang’s blunder was carried by a number of Vietnamese online sites. But the government has “decently kept quiet” which magnified all the more the lack of it by a member of the Philippine delegation.

Mislang has issued an apology through Carandang and a colleague in the communication office, Manolo Quezon. “I apologize for my comments. If I offended anybody, please know that was never the intention. I feel extremely blessed to be in a beautiful country blessed with warm hospitable people,” she was quoted to have said. She has removed her twitter account and I can’t find her Facebook account anymore.

Her apology smacks of hypocrisy. I’m not at all surprised that this happened because this is not the first time that Mislang made nasty remarks in twitter. During the election campaign, she twitted while watching ANC’s “Strictly Politics” that then AFP Chief of Staff Delfin Bangit, who was talking about measures the military was doing to make sure that there would be peaceful and orderly elections, was “pangit” (ugly). It was an early manifestation of immaturity and conceit, that became even more bloated in Malacañang environment.

A reporter friend said she had come across tweets by Mislang about the president calling her up to edit his speech while she was on the treadmill or buying make up.

She must be overwhelmed by the power that comes with being a part of the president’s “think thank” she forgot that as a ghost writer, she was supposed to be a “ghost” and not to be known as being responsible, even partly, for what Aquino is saying in public.

Mislang’s comments betray her ignorance about many things and snooty attitude towards other people. That is evident in her lack of appreciation of Vietnam’s courageous history and remarkable rise from the ashes of war. Vietnam is the only “small country” in Asia that can hold its head high against colonial powers. The Vietnamese defeated and drove away the French in 1954 and the Americans in 1975. Today, Vietnam is performing better than the Philippines in terms of attracting foreign investment.

Despite the boo-boo, Mislang is secure in her Malacañang position. As Carandang said, she is “trusted” by Aquino. She has been with Aquino way back during his Senate days.

Besides, if Aquino protected Rico Puno and kept him as undersecretary in the Department of Interior and Local Government and didn’t do anything to sanction former Philippine national Police Chief Jesus Versoza (don’t be surprised if he is resurrected as ambassador ) despite the embarrassment their incompetence caused the country in the August 23 tragedy , what’s Mislang’s Vietnam- bashing tweets?

As Carandang said, “It’s a minor incident.”

And when did Ms Mislang become an expert on wines? (is she comparing it with tuba or lambanog?) By the way, she is quite pretty judging by the image above, only her behaviour and her misdemeanour need a little FineTuning and she will be alright from now on, I hope.

  2. She has good credentials. BS Tourism, UP (cum laude).

She is a member of a rock band, Blue Rats.

Which actually don’t mean anything if you have not learned good manners and right conduct.

  3. saxnviolins saxnviolins

    Ellen:

Tourism is not the course where you find UP geeks, even if you searched with a magnifying glass.

Wine sucks? Just like the speeches you drafted for Noy; especially that baduy one about people power against hunger. There already is people power; but on the side of hunger.

Wala daw pogi sa Vietnam. Nasa paen ang paghuli ng isda. Kung okay ang paen, you get good fish, like blue marlin. Pinky Webb would have been a good bait for good looks. This speechwriter, you be the judge.

  4. saxnviolins saxnviolins

If I offended anybody, please know that was never the intention.

Sounds like Del Castillo’s defense re plagiarism. She should have attributed this to the Supreme Court, or the UP Law Faculty may be up in arms again.

They suck!!!

Magka-jamming sa kantahan si Noynoy at Mislang, enough qualification to be an ASEC in his administration!

Mukhang walang “hit”.

I don’t know what did ms mislang learn during her years in UP that even her usage of words is not appropriate..the word “sucks” would direct many minds to something that is dirty, yet…

He he he…Hapi All Souls Day Igan Chi at sa lahat ng mga Katoto!

Ikaw talaga Igan Vic…ang daming words e bakit pa yong I DON’T KNOW ang isinulat mo ha ne?

BS Tourism graduate should be familiar with protocol and etiquette. No excuse. As for Ricky Carandang, this guy has come a long way from being an ABS-CBN anchor. I’ve always been fascinated by this guy’s fluency in English and the way he wears his suit. Okay ang dating. But very few know that Ricky is not an ideal family man. He’s separated from his Tsinoy wife due to his having another woman. This is no rumor. I personally know the family.

  18. “She has good credentials. BS Tourism, UP (cum laude).”

No offense to her credentials Tita Ellen, but that doesn’t impresses me at all. Ki hakutin nya pa lahat nang laude available sa UP, once you get out of school, it’s the way you conduct yourself ang metrics and not how good the school is. Obviously, unfit for a government position ang sang to. Worse, Carandang is selfishly insensitive na minor lang to. It’s not just the Vietnamese ang pinahiya nila. Pati na rin tayong mga Pinoy. Kung talagang laude laude sya from UP, she should just resign that position at tanggapin ang accountability dahil mukhang PNoy’s dramatics about accountability during the campaign eh hindi totoo. Mga rhetorics lang pala. Hmpt!

  22. Kaya pala medyo familiar sa akin yung mukha. Vocalist nga ito ng Blue Rats, a blues band I had been following some years ago (90s to mid-2000s) around Malate. You might not believe it, but TV host Apa Ongpin once played bass for the band before he went abroad. Mai was a late addition to the band, I think it was my friend Vic Borgailly (drummer for the Rats) who introduced us. Kakagulat yang bandang yan. Big names ang members who came and went – Edmund Fortuno (RIP) on drums, Joey Puyat (whose family owns Astrobowl/Coronado Lanes) on guitars, the top celeb photog Tom Epperson (who works with Apa on Maxim Mag) on harmonica, aside from Apa.

Another square peg in a round hole? I don’t know if the language and attitude rock singers have on stage can be totally separated from her official conduct as ASec. But as her tweets show, it was typical kickass quips during her rockstar moments.

BTW, if its worth anything, one of their keyboardists is JJ Coloma. Note the family name.

  23. BTW, if its worth anything, one of their keyboardists is JJ Coloma. Note the family name.-Tongue

Tongue, Mai is more inclined with the Balay group (Carandang,Quezon, Lacierda, Black and White) rather than Coloma who belongs to the Samar group.

That’s precisely what I said in my article Mai Mislang should be aware of:

“ Assume that your professional life and your personal life will merge online regardless of your care in separating them.”

  25. florry florry

A BS Tourism degree doesn’t include the study of rudeness and how to insult people much more a foreign country. Mislang seemed to believe that with Noynoy as her boss, she is on top of the world, that she can do and say anything without regards to the sensitivity of the object of her dim-witted comments.

Insulting a host country where you are treated with hospitality and respect is some kind of animal instinct that doesn’t know any rule on good manners and right conduct.

And insulting a host country where you are a state guest is never a minor incident.

    Ito namang isa, bakit malapot?

    Noy: Mai siopao sauce yan.

Too bad Mislang did not have an open mind. Yung turn-off ang nakita. In the case of Mario Battali, he claims to have an epiphany when he went to Vietnam, and sampled the street food. Hayun, pasikat agad sa Iron Chef, with Vietnam inspired dishes.

  31. saxnviolins saxnviolins

Yung quip about siopao sauce, inspired yan by Reyna Elena’s blog.

  34. Vietnam cuisine is one of the best in the world. It’s influenced by the French and Chinese. That’s why Vietnamese restaurants click in many parts of the world.

    http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/11/01/10/aquino-back-manila-defends-speechwriter

Aquino also came to the defense of his speechwriter, Assistant Secretary Maria Carmen Mislang, after she posted rude tweets in her Twitter account.

Aquino said Mislang is young and could easily make mistakes. He also said Mislang wrote him a letter to explain what happened and apologized for her mistake.

    Ano ba yan?

  38. kapatid kapatid

Apparently PNoy is the apologist for this bunch. Banking on his still high ratings.

    Mislang should know better.

Hope she invites me to her house for a cuisine and wine tasting, and I shall tweet / FB how “well-stocked” her wine cellar is, and would write Mr. Hugh Johnson OBE about her collection, so it could included in his 2011 Wine Guide.

    Loaded with pun.

  39. Mon Mon

If indeed she has no idea that her comments were offensive, something is wrong with her thinking. And if she is sincere in posting that she feels extremely blessed to be in a beautiful country, then judging from her deleted tweet and her now-published apology, something is terribly wrong. If she’s sincere with her infamous tweet and her apology, then something is horribly wrong with her.

And her bosses, including P-Noy apologizing for her, being young and all, have shown once again how Malacanang is telling our young people that it is okay to be rude, provided you are with the powers that be. If this early in P-Noy’s reign, people around him are acting like arse holes, one dare not imagine the level of moral and intellectual corruption around P-Noy after a year or two down the road?

  40. manuelbuencamino manuelbuencamino

So I guess the problem is she like gazillions of people did not bother to read NRP or LA Times guidelines on tweets and all that. But it’s ok to share thoughts with friends, di ba?

Did she intend to broadcast it to the whole world so that lahat ng mga aspiring Miss Manners could chew out her ass?

Maganda, matalino, magaling kumanta, at walang pretenses.

  41. Becky Becky

Even if you did not read the guidelines of NRP and LA Times, basic good manners yan. You don’t disparage your hosts. Bastos ang ginawa niya.

If she was sincere (walang pretenses) in here tweets, why in her apology nagpa ek-ek pa siya ng “I feel extremely blessed to be in a beautiful country blessed with warm hospitable people.”

  42. Mon Mon

“Carandang said Mislang has been reprimanded and has voluntarily deleted her account.”

Kung may delikadesa pang kaunting natitira, and she’s not feeling pompous already, she should have offered her irrevocable deletion from P-Noy’s Malacanang. Then again, being young, I guess she wants to travel some more, at our expense, hopefully, finding a “pogi” she can hook up with?

“He said they have also provided guidelines to Palace officials on how to handle social media.”

Which means?

    Hhhhmmm…

  43. manuelbuencamino manuelbuencamino

Akala ni Mai yun tweet niya ay sa mga kaibigan lang pupunta, don’t you get it? Get a life, your self-righteous eck-eck is pathetic.

  44. Becky Becky

Okay to share thoughts with friends, di ba?

Walang problema dyan. Mag text siya Why didn’t she text Carandang and her friends? Why Twitter?

  45. Becky Becky

  47. rhytmo rhytmo

@VIC – You were talking about “usage of words”, right? Here are a couple of lapses from your comments. The second one made me stop reading the comments section altogether. I have family and friends that are from UP, but I am not.I hope you are not, too!

    1) “And when did Ms Mislang becomes an expert on wines?”
    – “become” should’ve been the word used

    2) ” I don’t know what did ms mislang learned during her years in UP that even her usage of words is not appropriate..”

    -again, “learn” should’ve been used.

  48. rhytmo, thanks for your correction. I’m sure those are typo errors. I’ll correct them.

  49. Mon Mon

“Akala ni Mai yun tweet niya ay sa mga kaibigan lang pupunta, don’t you get it?”

Most of us did get it – that what is being espoused with the above quoted line is, “in front of the public be decent, but once only with your friends, be ‘yourself…?'” – hhmmm… tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell mine to avoid them 🙂

  50. so, should she be removed? or given another chance?

  51. Mon Mon

For most young people who are NOT in such a sensitive position – officially identified working for OUR president, a reprimand and perhaps urged to attend a self-development workshop would be “logical.”

For someone who even has a Cum Laude in her credentials, one would not be surprised if she did resign her post to save the Office of the President from a prolonged embarrassing position such as this office now finds itself, the President no less – of defending her.

  52. Mon, she will not resign. Aquino has re-affirmed his trust on her.

Ellen, this is exactly what is disturbing to a lot of people who want P-Noy to succeed. I am one of those people because I am in this country, I am a taxpayer, and the rise and fall of P-Noy, whether I like him or not, has a resounding repercussion not only to ourselves, but to my children and the young people we all try to assist in making a sense of what we call “Iniibig kong Pilipinas.”

Had it been Ms. Ma. Carmen Mislang committed this lapse of judgment, representing a private corporation, she may have simply learned a lot from this event. No one is a saint, and she may have been unthinking when she tweeted her sentiments. But it is exactly this lack of awareness how sensitive her position is that is reflective of the people around P-Noy.

It is decent to forgive, and it is more decent to apologize and resign. What is indecent here is seeing our very own President of this Republic absolving Ms. Mislang of her lapse of judgment, even after the fact of insulting a whole nation like Vietnam in her official capacity no less.

I was one of those who wish to be proven wrong about P-Noy because it is the Filipino people who will benefit from my lapse of judgment.

  55. From Robert Mediado, who describes himself as “technical writer”:

Mai Mislang thought that Vietnamese are not using social network so she commented on that. Mislang does not know about Vietnam. This country and her people sufferred for many years, and they should be respected. The Vietnamese are good people like their neighbors, Cambodians.

She is a speech writer? Wow, she must know about writing professionally. Is she beautiful (commenting there is no pogi dito, bakit ung boss ba nya pogi)? I don’t think so…

  56. rhytmo rhytmo

“rhytmo, thanks for your correction. I’m sure those are typo errors. I’ll correct them.”

@ellen- You are so kind…but a spade is a spade and word tenses are quite hard to pass as typos. People tend to get intensely narcotized when making online comments that their own incompetence in simple written communication takes the backburner. To think that the online community is after Ms. Mislang’s hide for a “communication lapse”… this is cyber-comedy at its best. Peace…

Whoa. I know her! I’ve seen her band in Skarlet’s bar. She has a strong and interesting voice, and the band’s quite good too. Her tweets really do seem like she’s from that crowd. Perhaps she’s not really finished with the transformation from rocker to speech writer to the President of the Philippines. That, indeed is a huge change. I’d just like to say that I’m willing to give her a break, and the chance to prove her worth in at Malacanang. She may have committed a huge mistake, but she has apologized, and I’ve to acknowledge that I’ve also done some mean tweets and fb comments, and I’d like to measure other people with the standards I use for myself.

hey guys, what`s wrong if she write`s ” walang pogi dito ” isn`t that pogi is just a pilipino slang word`s.. i don`t know even pangit we call pogi.. so what`s the big fuss?? pag sinabi bang pogi is that a term for handsome or beautiful?? maybe she can say when i say walang ” pogi ” means walang pangit dito..!! di ba even pangit sometimes we call ang pogi?? i don`t think there any wrong on her statement.. just because she is working with the president she have no right saying slang tagalog..?? i look at tagalog dictionary and there is no ” pogi ” words..!! so what`s big about it..

RE: Her tweets were not for public consumption so the issue of whether she should stay or go does not merit consideration.

    >> ‎”Our Services are primarily designed to help you share information with the world. Most of the information you provide to us is information you are asking us to make public.” — Twitter.com privacy policy, see 3rd paragraph under Information Collection and Use.

RE: Pathetic is when people get their panties in a knot over something they weren’t even supposed to read in the first place.

    >> Oo.

Question to the general public: Wala bang YM ang blackberry?

Hanoi is such a beautiful place to visit. It’s a confluence of traditional, colonial and modern Vietnam. Maybe Mislang was so busy that she did not have time to appreciate the beauty around her. Because of fatigue from too much work, the wine tasted bad and blurred her senses. She should be given rest — eternal rest from government work so we could wait in peace for the PNoy’s term to end.

‘Aquino said Mislang is young and could easily make mistakes’, that mades Mislang to be feel protected by the head of the country, that clause made herself has the face to show infront of her fellow workers (because they might be all the same protecting each other), feeling comfort of without resignation will alleviate her shameful act but already marked on all pinoy citizens across the globe. Mr President should look for the replacement who are having standard to represent the country along with his team not having ‘mababaw’ morality. Being young is not an excuse for this kind of position Mr President, handling the whole country is not a game which you can say ‘better luck next time? no, it still lack next time’.

  74. Mon Mon

    Blind loyalty is extremely dangerous.

“But obviously it went too far [It’s supposed to be less formal, less official] – if they can’t make the judgment themselves, we have to make the judgment for them,” – Sec. Ricky Carandang

    http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20101101-300944/RP-officials-temporarily-stopped-from-tweeting

Normally, it is perfectly expected of responsible adults to help young people arrive with their decision-making process, and sometimes, even make the judgement in their behalf.

What is perplexing is Sec. Ricky Caranandang does not seem to realize that his statement is far from reassuring; it actually brings to fore what is more disturbing – that the people under him are supposed to be *responsible adults* who are well aware – even before their number one principal was elected – of the sensitivity of their posts, the gravity of their private and public behavior – thus, the responsibilities and accountability they voluntary decided to carry with them: the Seal of the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines.

A half-baked apology sans accountability have now placed the burden of ones folly on other people. Had it been her reflexive response was to plainly apologize for a tactless posting, and then submitted her irrevocable resignation, these could have earned her some genuine forgiveness and perhaps, regain some morsels of self-respect.

Do you think that because Mislang has deleted her twitter account that her tweets are forever gone from the internet?

Guess again. There is such a thing as an RSS feed, and quite a number of sites subscribe to Twitter’s. This means that Mislang’s tweets have been scattered like the proverbial irretrievable feathers, all over the internet, and not just Twitter.

Every time his staff screws up, Pres. Noynoy consistently defends them. Saying the writer is young so she could commit mistakes sends a wrong signal to the other staff in the Palace. They are licensed to make mistakes as long as they are young. But what about staff who are older? Hindi puwedeng magkamali? The way I see it, Pres. Noynoy is telling us that we should expect mistakes to happen in his administration. By always coming to his men’s rescue, Noynoy is telling us that he too would commit mistakes not just once, twice but many times. If this is his attitude, the future is bleak for this administration.

Or is it all social-climbing, to be around rich and famous bandmates who don’t even need their musician’s wage, like Joey Puyat (of Puyat Steel, APO Cement, Astrobowl, among many businesses), top fashion photog Tom Epperson who charges thousands per hour, Cowboy Santos (son of the estranged couple – concert producer Nilo Santos and rockin’ mama Tessie Alfonso a.k.a. *sigh* If they weren’t for public consumption then explain the #vietnam. Putting that on your tweet means you WANT that tweet to show up in the feeds that monitor the word “vietnam”. Mislang put that in her “walang pogi” tweet which she intended, even if it was written in Tagalog, to appear in that feed. Why else would she take the extra effort to put the “#vietnam” there?

Not for public consumption my foot! Mislang has more than a thousand followers on her twitter account–something she may be quite proud of. More than a thousand followers sounds public to me.

It gets heady when you are young, and near the center of power. I remember in the 90s, that stupid phrase “power lunch”. What the F is a power lunch? Kumain ka ng coryente?

    Couldn’t agree more…

  106. Manuel,

Por da last time : Mislang’s tweets were meant for her friends’ eyes only and not for public consumption.

But why were they in the public domain? They went on line (?) and the minute they did, she committed the indefensible, i.e., ‘bad mouthing’ her hosts. The only thing she can do is to bow her head in shame (which she apparently did) and to ask for fogiveness.

  107. Let’s put it this way: She becomes a fair game the minute her disparaging her hosts went on line.

  108. One of the most admirable nations in the world, bad wine or not, is Vietnam. No other people or nation in South East Asia, as Ellen remarked, could say with pride that they kicked out colonial powers with such courage and determination.

And I agree with Ellen, Vietnamese cuisine (my favourite Asian cuisine) is tops 🙂

Hurrah Vietnam and the Vietnamese! May your tribe increase!

  109. Anne, the wine is Chilean, not Vietnamese.

I read that Vietnam has just started wine making and it will take about ten more years to be in the market. The Philippines could not even claim to aspire to be in the wine market in the next decade.

I fell in love with their bread the moment I tasted one during my first trip there in the early 80’s. I bought a basketfull and brought home to Manila. Surely something they learned from the French.

  110. Ellen,

the wine is Chilean, not Vietnamese.

Hahahah — now the Chileans won’t be happy… Anyway, I guess the Vietnamese were cutting costs. And good on them.

By the way, some wines wine “do not travel well,” specifically young Chilean wine (and this is the reason why some wines on your favourite supermaket racks in Asia aren’t very good). Wine doesn’t have to be expensive to be good or to be truly vintage just that some of them suffer when they travel.

Philippines is one of the South East Asian countries that is a favourite market for Chilean wines.

She should have gotten used to them — tee hee. Maybe she prefers California or Australian wine, which, incidentally, Chilean wines can compare relatively well to.

But as ever, there are good Chilean wines, bad Chilean wines, good and bad California and Australia wines too — all a question of “how well they travelled” as they say in wine lingo… Beaujolais Nouveau which is a favourite social drink in Pinas (and elsewhere in Asia) come Beaujolais time “expires” after only a few days when they arrive in Asia and become good vinegar thereafter — the same Beaujolais which “expires” later in Europe is a bit more “drinkable”, but tastes a tad worse after just a few days in Asia.

The thing about Fete de la Musique here is that it has gone beyond the cultural boundaries of the French (the fete is celebrated every 24th of June, not the 30th).

Didn’t know that Pinas celebrates “Fête de la musique” on the 24th June. We celebrate it here on 21st June every year.

  116. Ah, Tongue, she has a preference for du vin corsé just like the guy in the park who’s consumed his 2nd bottle of wine by 8 in the morning 😀

  117. Anne, bands play these one-peso gigs only for the exposure. With her bandmates from prominent families, money isn’t a consideration at all. That’s why I like her band. It’s all about playing music.

  118. Anne, she’ll prolly prefer drinking mouthwash instead.

  119. John, I was asked a smiliar question by Anthony Taberna this morning at UKG and my answer was, it depends on the priorities of Aquino. In the case of the Aug 23 tragedy particularly Rico Puno and Jesus Versoza, Aquino put friendship above competent, honest and respectable public service. The same thing happened in the case of Mislang.

His governance will depend a lot on the quality of people around him. You know the possibilities for leaders who misgovern.

  120. On the other hand, John, I would prefer Noynoy keeps her. TV nowadays is boring, I’d prefer to be entertained by accidental comedians. And idiots.

  121. Tongue,

Yep, I know — a friend used to sing in a band that played in the Hotel Peninsula lounge and other hotels (can’t remember the name of the band anymore); they were all execs during the day and enjoyed singing in the evening playing old favourites. Very impressive singing and instrumental playing folks. (My friend has died since, not on account of singing or playing in the band though.)

Incidentally, Ellen, speaking of singing and whatever… Current DND chief, Volt Gazmin likes to sing too — great karaoke singer he truly is. He took me to one karaoke gig station (can’t remember where – hahaha) and he belched out songs like there was no tomorrow. I am curious now. Hope somebody uploads that clip.

  141. Ella’s homecoming concert will surely bring back old memories. Pers Lab will always be Ella’s anthem. One of the first songs I learned to play in Jingle mag.

    Paksyet, para akong quickmelt cheese!

Eniweys, it’s good to take a diversion once in a while, Ellen. Rather than sit and wait when the zigzag road will finally hit the straight and narrow path, if it ever will, let’s enjoy the bumpy ride muna, hehehe.

While I may be partial for good ol’ Rock and Roll and Jazz, I make it a point to check out all the other genre once in a while. It gives me a more mature perspective in the appreciation of the art. Classical/Opera today, maybe death metal or R&B/Funk tomorrow.

That’s why I particularly like artists who take risks and blend in two different music types in one go. Like Jerry C and Funtwo metal-shredding Pachelbel’s Canon in D minor. These two guys have over 100 million combined views for this song at YouTube. Like piano prodigy Maksim Mrvica and former Michael Jackson Lead guitarist Jenniffer Batten playing Korsakoff’s Flight of the Bumblebee.

On the other hand, there’s a lot of vids showing Pavarotti and Friends showing the tenor singing U2 songs with Bono or his version of “Too Love Will Kill You” together with… nah, not our Jovit Baldovino, but Queen’s Brian May.

West Wing…e fiction yan kanilang inspirasyon! Kaya naman pala! Gosh, they are idiots!

we all know that once you post it in the internet its permanent.
even if you delete it its there in the servers or have you heard about screeshots/screen capture?
so please use your common sense (if there is one).

you’re a public servant & your accountability to the country & people is great.
so be responsible enough in what you say or post in your fb or tweet.

baliktarin natin yung situation- what if the vietnamese peeps would say:
“ang papangit naman ng staff ni pnoy, lalo na yung short haired girl
with the oily face” ano kaya mararamdaman mo?

even if you look like marian rivera still you dont have the right to insult any people or race.

  146. “John, I was asked a smiliar question by Anthony Taberna this morning at UKG and my answer was, it depends on the priorities of Aquino. In the case of the Aug 23 tragedy particularly Rico Puno and Jesus Versoza, Aquino put friendship above competent, honest and respectable public service. The same thing happened in the case of Mislang.

His governance will depend a lot on the quality of people around him. You know the possibilities for leaders who misgovern.”

But if it were up to you, would you ask the aquino gov’t to fire her for this?

(now, i havent been following this puno/versoza issue either, but from what i hear, mas seryoso yung allegations laban kay puno at versoza. kung totoo yung mga ito, dapat si puno at versoza na ang mag-resign. kung hindi sila mag-resign, aquino should fire both of them.)

  147. Observer Observer

The reason why it stays in the internet even though the actual source or publisher of content erased it already in their website is because of “content aggregator.”

Ten years ago there was no such thing as content aggregator. So when the original source of materials deleted it in their website, it will not remain as a permanent record in cyberspace.

#155 Rockford. “pinalamon ka na nga lang nang-insulto ka pa.

Tumpak! Besides, matanda na ang 29 para maging bopol, nandyan nga sya sa Palasyo ng mga ewan!

I clicked #120… dyoskoday, ganun sila! hahaha! “kung hindi masyadong maganda, huwag masyadong maarte’ sabida ni Alessandra de Rossi, ahahay! Endi nga ‘masyadong maganda’ kundi ngetpa e! 🙂

  153. But if it were up to you, would you ask the aquino gov’t to fire her for this?

    — Johnmarzan

What say you fellow Ellenville residents?

  154. I wouldn’t fire her if I were the president but would relegate her only to a task out of the public eye; forbid her from ever referring to her work or to Malacanang services in public while in presidential employ; and the if she ever committed another public gaffe, fire her most unceremoniously. Take it or leave it sort of thing.

Mapakla siguro yung red wine na nainom niya, typical of red wines.

  156. yes, it’s PNoy. This was taken when he was a senator.

  157. 2b1ask1 2b1ask1

Pres. Noynoy is a heavy smoker but not a drinker. To me, that’s unusual. One who drinks usually smokes and vice versa.
Maybe I’m getting older but it looks like those working in Malacanang and government are now getting younger and younger.

  158. kristhine kristhine

im just a simple working girl who does her work everyday and i always do my best at my work. Can the president’s assistant do her work with delicadesa?

Do you know what you are doing?

Mr. President please remind your staff to be more careful on what they are doing. Your staff is so stupid not to know these things
