Ninoy assassination a closed book for Aquino sisters

Ballsy and Pinky
Twenty-seven years after the murder of opposition leader and former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., his daughters say the search for the brains behind his assassination is over, and that the Aquino family has already achieved justice.

Ma. Elena “Ballsy” Cruz and Aurora “Pinky” Abellada, elder sisters of President Benigno Aquino III, say it’s time to move on. The two, however, stressed that their brother may not necessarily share their views.

“For me, that’s so long ago,” said Abellada. “We know who did it. Many of them are dead; let’s move forward. I don’t know if human rights advocates will get angry, but for me, you cannot hold these ill feelings for long because in the end it’s you who will suffer.”

If indeed the Aquino sisters knew who is or are the masterminds behind their father’s murder, then why keep it for themselves and not seek justice for Justice sake? I have read and known cases of murder older and less celebrated than that of their father and the families and the authorities never give up until such time when evidence presented itself to bring the cases to closure. suspects had been known all the time, yet it is a matter of waiting for sufficient evidence (thanks to science and the acceptance of dna as evidence)to bring the case to court. and perhaps testimonies of witnesses who might in the end wanted to clear their concience.

Yes, Pinky and Balsy, some of the perpetrators may already been dead, yet some maybe still alive, it is not a matter of vengeance, but to know what indeed transpired that fateful day your father was murdered in cold blood.

It maybe a closed book for them, but as far as our political history is concerned it cannot simply be forgotten…it is part of history just like the Nalundasan case of Marcos, and many other events…ano yon computer pag delete ay wala na?

Ballsy, Pinky and Viel are the saving grace of Filipinas, they are the symbol of decency, simplicity, integrity, humility, morality and wisdom which is long lost among many filipinas and even filipinos today.
    May their tribe increase!

  4. Cardinal Sin sent a priest to spy on the convicted soldiers to find out just who the mastermind was. Cardinal Sin was dismayed with his report: no it was not Marcos.

After a while, the media stopped pointing its finger to the dictator but there’s a twist: Ninoy was killed by the Marcos regime. Strange, the killer is a regime?

There are clues. There was also the driver of the van who allegedly saw exactly what happened. He was not called to testify. Nobody wanted to hear his story. Where is he now? Sgt Martinez has a very compelling account but no, Cory would not lift a finger to follow the lead. There is also a certain Col. Valerio who is said to be hiding in the US but the family of the murdered Ninoy seems uninterested. Odd. I imagine that happening to my father, if I had the power and resources, I would go to the end of the earth to find the damn mastermind.

But can we handle the truth?

The assumption that Marcos killed Ninoy is a core element holding an important narrative together. You take that out, make a categorical confirmation Marcos has got nothing to do with it, and what do you make of the entire narrative upon which the so-called Ninoy heroism or Aquino Legacy is woven? Masisira ang kuwento.

So it makes sense to keep at least the shadow of doubt.

Then there is also the matter of conscience, the ugly implication that we condemned to prison and destroyed the lives of those innocent soldiers.

  5. There are so many theories, its easy to come up with one, even Kennedy’s death is still shrouded in theories. The fact of the matter is that the family has come to grips with what happened and accepted it, so the healing process…its not true that we condemned innocent men, they had their day in court. The justice system is more reliable in ferreting out he truth than creative imagination conjuring conspiracy theories…

I believe every Filipino wants to know the truth of the country’s history, especially this one with Ninoy!

  8. The words of dying men are incontrovertible. Custodio and Doy Laurel both cleared Makoy on their deathbeds.

The special panel created by Ninoy’s and Makoy’s brods in Upsilon Sigma Phi also cleared Makoy.

27 years and not a single evidence has surfaced that points to Makoy at the mastermind.

  9. If Cory’s pet K-9 deserves to be buried with military honors at Libingan ng mga Bayani, how much more a soldier, a former president at that?

Let’s bury the dead and start the healing process. This time FOR REAL.

Saw a video of Bongbong Marcos being interviewed. When asked about the Ninoy case, he simply answered “They’ve (Cory) been in power for 6 years and they have all the gov’t resources at their disposal…. “

Cory and her revolutionary government have all the powers to wrap up the case but for some reasons she didn’t do it because she may have no proof or evidence and witnesses to pin down the only person she suspected of masterminding the murder.

Now her daughters are claiming that they knew all along who are the killers, but also chose to just close the book and forget it, because as they said the country must move on.

So do we take it just like that? A closed book with footnotes in big bold letters at the back-cover that says, they already made up their minds who are the killers but left the public guessing?

I think that is being deceitful.

Now, if you really know the killers, the best that you could do is to fight until they are put into their proper places and not just leave them to savor on their freedom. It’s not only justice for the family that we seek but for the whole country that had been left waiting for answers. It’s not just a pet dog who was killed; it’s the father, the most important man in the family so every possible thing must be done to get justice.

Knowing something and not doing everything to put an end to it leaves an ugly taste in the mouth. It can only mean that there’s really no desire to end and put closure on the case. On their part it is best that the memories of Ninoy will not be forgotten and remains in the minds of the people. They want that the name Aquino will be forever talk about and idolized as a martyr and the best way to hold and maintain it is to leave the case as an unsolved murder.

    Now, that’s really neat!
