My son wants to be an MILF commander,” said 38-year-old Abdulbasit Benito, a peace advocate based in Cotobato City. “He wants to fight soldiers because they are causing displacement and poverty.”

Benito’s son, Hareeth Djibril, is eight years old and likes to play war games with his friends and classmates, imagining they are fighters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Hareeth enjoys watching Star Wars, the Japanese manga series Naruto whose main character is an adolescent ninja, and TV programs showing aircraft carriers and war planes.

But Benito, executive director of Bangsamoro Center for Justpeace, is doing everything he can to help end the war in Mindanao so that Moros can return to a normal life. After all, he suffered from that war. “I was a victim of war. I was born in an evacuation center. My mother and sister died of hunger in an evacuation center. I don’t want my children to experience that,” Benito said.

  1. This peace process thing has been going on for too long…what exactly is needed here? what do they want? is the country able to give them what they want? are these reasonable? are these within the bounds of the constitution? There are so many horror stories because of “all out wars” being waged her by pseudo macho types, maybe its time we know what the content of the negotiations are, are these open to the public or confidential na naman? I believe this practice of dumping indecent amounts of money here has not been working at all…can these people be trusted to govern themselves? are they willing to account for funds send to them so they like all other local government units can be audited? are they, as a whole, as a people, willing to subordinate themselves to the sovereignty of the Philippines at all?

hindi pa ako ipinanganak problema na ito..matanda na ako ngayon problema pa rin ito…sa palagay ko problema forever na ito so there is nothing we can do but wait for the end of time and let us just in the meantime pray for peace if we still know how to pray..total both Christians and Muslims believe in God…

Yes Rose, and we are really living in the end times. Although we are hoping for a good government na maski papaano ay ma-experience naman natin na gumaan ang ating buhay dito sa lupa. But 2008 until 2015 is the Sabbathical Seven Years celebrated by the Jews. And it is interesting to know that there are 4 Lunar eclipses and 2 Solar eclipses during the last Jewish Sabbathical year Sept 2014-Sept 2015. And those eclipses exactly coincides with the Jewish Feasts especially the 2 Passovers and the Jewish New Year. Sa dami ng problema sa mga gobyerno sa ibat-ibang bansa pati na ring ang mga catastophies, and from the looks of it ay lalong gumagrabe, we should be preparing for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ dahil siya lang ang may perfect government. Sabi nga sa bible, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God, Muslim man o Kristiyano.

our hope is in God…and He expects us to follow his commandments…but do we? si Gloria ay saradong katolico daw..(whatever it means)…put did she follow the ten commandments when she was pre4sident?…graduate siya ng Assumption Convent a very exclusive school for the rich…na sa tao ang pagsunod..na sa atin ang pag-asa..but the government should make available all the opportunities..sana Abnoy’s government will..ang sabi nga makitid ang daan para pumunta sa tama…si gloria ay simple lang ang pasok sa umpisa…labandera daw siya…and she was true to her words..she did the laundry exccellently..she was an excellent labandera pati ang kaban ng bayan ni labhan niya…ang sabi seguro madumi ang pera kaya lalabhan ko na…at dalhin sa ibang lugar…hindi ba tayo ang simula ng pagbabago?…we can do it and let us do it…simulan na natin ang pagbabago…game na ba kayo? Pilipinas win na win! wowowee…..

Luz, nakatatakot tunay ang nangyayari sa mundo.. catastrophe..sa China, sa Pakistan, sa Phil..are these not God’s signs for us to change our ways? is He not asking us to go to Him for help? and for us Catholics..remember the poem “Lovely Lady, dress in blue..teach me How to pray…God was just your little child, teach me what to say..did you lift him up gently on your knee..just like my mother did to me..lovely lady dress in blue..teach me how to pray..” Christians and Muslims we all know how to pray..let us do it..and with all our prayers..collected
    togther we will win…

The problem in Mindanao is still there because no party, the government on one side and the MILF on the other side never wanted to achieve peace. This is a very big source of funds, “money” both for the military and the MILF.

Nagkakapera ang mga AFP officers sa budget nila at pagbebenta ng mga armas sa kalaban; ang MILF ay suportado rin ng ibang bansa sa middle east, kaya sino ang may gusto na mawala ang kita nila.

So never expect peace to be attained, not in the Aquino regime, not in our lifetime and not in a hundred years as long as greed remains in the hearts of both sides of the parties involved.

    19 August 2010

As I see it, both the government and MILF leadership does not trust each other. Just like the recent news that the MILF said they are ready to fight the “FILIPINO” soldiers, even claiming to have 60,000 arms to fight the AFP.

There are claims and counter claims from both sides of violations of a certain artcile of ceasefire agreement. There’s no trust on both sides.

As what Erap did in 2000, overrunning camp abu bakar, just to be returned by gloria in the name of “PEACE”. But what happened when the supposedly signing of MOA-AD in Kuala Lumpur failed? the MILF went on their way and wrought havoc in the fragile Philippine territory in the south.

I agree, that it would be a big loss to the business minded leaders on both side.

  10. Agree with balweg re isang bansa isang diwa…I believe its what the majority of the moslems want also, its just a handful thats making all this trouble…
