It looks like a compromise arrangement. Good luck!
President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has finally formed his communications group, according to ABS-CBN sources.
Former Presidential Management Staff chief Herminio “Sonny” Coloma, who served under President Cory Aquino’s administration, is set to handle media operations.
Former ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) news anchor Ricky Carandang, meanwhile, will strategize and craft government’s messages.
Palace officials, however, refused to confirm the report, saying they will issue a statement on Monday.
“On the communications group, all will be announced on Monday,” said Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda.
In a text message, Coloma suggested that the public wait for the official announcement.
“It’s premature to confirm, no appointment has been made. Best to wait for official announcement,” he said.
Carandang also refused to answer the calls of ABS-CBN.
Carandang quits ANC
Carandang resigned from ANC on Friday after taking a three-week leave.
“ANC management accepted the resignation of anchor Ricky Carandang, which he submitted Friday, July 9, 2010,” the news unit said.
The communications group is said to replace the Office of the Press Secretary.
Since this is a new concept, the question now is, who between the two has Cabinet rank, and who will sit during budget hearings and at the Commission on Appointments.
Aside from the heads of the communications group, other members are also expected to be named on Monday.
In a press conference on Wednesday, President Aquino said Carandang is part of the team being considered for his communications group, which will be finalized this week.
Carandang has been reporting politics and business for a decade.
He anchored many shows and coverages for ANC, including “The Rundown” and “The Big Picture.”
The former stock broker also served as business manager of Newsbreak magazine from 2001 to 2003.
In June, the Rotary Club of Manila named Carandang broadcast journalist of the year for his work in ANC. — with a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News; ANC
A “good luck” really may be in order…
Having a job in Communications is not an easy task.
Not only are they having the same initial letter of surnames…both C and C also recently had a share of faux pas in announcements: Carandang – Federico D. Pascual, Jr. and Coloma – Malaysian PM.
Well, let’s hope “Curyente” will be the last thing they’ll do.
And, no Cover-ups too!
Here’s to good luck…Cheers!
It’s a good mix. Something old, something new.
The “wisdom and experience” of the old blending with the freshness, energy and zest of the new.
A team worth watching?
Good luck!
Kahit sino sa kanila, basta tell the truth and nothing but the truth. No hiding for props purposes so people can adjust to any given situation.
Chi,
transparency requires honest Communication Constantly, to keep crusade for Good governance alive and kicking! Trust and Confidence between gov’t and people equals economic, political and social success and miracle. Selfless and not selfish, truth and not lies, Good and not evil ……..
Kahit sino sa kanila ang maging head ng binagong Office of the Press Secretary, okey lang.
Bilang isang mamamayan, mas gusto kong makita ang transparency of independence ng TATLONG sangay ng gobyerno – executive, legislative and judiciary upang magkaroon ng tunay na check and balance. Mas maganda pa nga ‘yung dating two party system with an independent as third.
Oblak I think it has something to do with this bscorecard research that has invaded this site, trhough firefox. I’m still finding ways to solve it.

I don’t have any problems accessing this blog; and I use firefox as well.
Sometime back, when I had problems with firefox, but could access this blog with Opera, I employed the lazy man’s solution. Uninstall firefox, and then do a fresh install, from a new download of firefox. I don’t trust my saved download, because if the problem were a virus, it may have affected my downloads as well.
In fact, I keep downloads in a USB stick, so they remain uncontaminated.
Thanks, Tongue.
I’ve opted out of the scorecard research yesterday but I’ll go through your instructions now.
Nag-shut down ang computer ko kaninang umaga dahil sa firefox, that’s when I wrote you, Ellen. Inayos namin ulit ang Firefox dahil na-virus.
Good! Problem solved! Wala ng blank page. The whole day yesterday I have to refresh two or three times before I can view your blog. Merong pang magdidisplay siya for an instant then it goes blank.
Ngayon, wala na.
oooops, I spoke too soon. Nagba-blank uli. But only after a comment siguro. hehehe.
Siguro mas epektibo ‘yung Godzilla Firedragon anti virus system.
I’ve spoken too soon on # 13, about having no problems with firefox. Tried to disable cookies, also did an opt-out.
Am using Opera now. So far, walang problema.
I’ve visited the site Eleen visited, regarding tips to opt-out. Saw your post there.
So far, wala sa Opera.
You want to opt out? Go to this webpage:
http://www.scorecardresearch.com/Priv.html
In the paragraph that starts with the question “Do you use cookies?” look for the second sentence, which states:
Click the word “here”, and it takes you to the opt-out page.
I did it, but it still did not work, despite a reboot, so I am using Opera for browsing Ellen’s blog.
sax: cleaning up your cache and cookies might help. See comment #12
TT:
Did that, ayaw pa rin.
I will find time to do battle with this annoyance later. For the moment, lazy man’s solution na lang.
Have been going over the posts here for two hours now, and no problem so far. I am logged to my home network using my daughter’s account. If I use my own account, I experience blank pages and disappearing ones.
Must be my Temporary internet files folder.
