Carandang resigns from ABS-CBN. ANC Management accepted the resignation of Anchor Ricky Carandang, which he submitted Friday, July 10, 2010,” the statement from ANC read.
According to sources, Carandang has accepted the offer to be part of the communications team of President Benigno Aquino III.
Earlier Friday, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa said that they were still talking to Carandang and Manolo Quezon III to be part of the team.

Obviously, di nila priority ang paggawa ng bagong website na yan. I myself didn’t even attempt to open the OP website in the 9 years that Gloria was President. Why should I? Everything you need to know about the President and his activities is in the news anyway.
Mas mabilis pa nga mag update pag sa news mo inabangan o kaya dito sa Ellenville. Si Obama nga sa Facebook na lang inaabangan ng mga gustong makakuha ng latest policy pronouncements nya. The interaction is even faster unlike in the official website which is controlled and is just being used as a one sided propaganda vehicle. If we come to think of it, how many hits a day would you expect from that site? Very minimal. One way traffic nga lang kasi. Mas maganda pa nga sa facebook e. Next to Obama and one other that escaped my memory, Aquino is the third political figure in the whole world with the most number of following. This phenomenon can be attributed to the faster feedback mechanism that is inherent in this social medium where ordinary citizens can easily interact with the President. One can’t do that in the OP website that’s why most people won’t bother to go there. Just think of the latest anti-wangwang campaign in facebook where the numerous reports of facebook members who supported this initiative were already delivered to the President himself using Facebook. I don’t know how the old school advocates view this but I think Aquino is just being true to form with his unconventional approaches to problem solving. Just my take. 🙂
Henry, other forms of social media are okay to be tapped in communication dissemination. But the OP website is the official website of the President. It’s importance cannot be overstressed.
Blogs, Facebook, Twitter and other forms of New Media hasten information dissemination but it has its dangers and a government office, especially the office of the president can’t leave it to informal media to be its information arm.
As I have said in my previous article, “Standoff in the Malacañang’s press office”, the problem with the OP website was a reflection of the power struggle in PNoy’s organization that he should deal with decisively.
I’m in touch with the persons involved and everything is ready for the website. All that is needed is authority. When PNoy decides who is the communications director, all systems go na.
It should be Carandang and Quezon, specifically Quezon…whats there to think about pa ba?

Well, that’s as far as I can connect this comment to the topic at hand. It’s because I’ll take exception to Dawin Lacierda’s term “landmines” which I’ll assume as being implied to have been planted by the previous administration. I’m pretty sure there are a lot more “landmines” out there.
But how about the “landmines” that they themselves placed within their turf that apparently has detonated or just waiting to explode from sudden missteps and miscalculated moves?
