Speaker Prospero C. Nograles is “seriously considering” dumping the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD and its standard-bearer Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro and joining Nacionalista Party candidate Sen. Manuel “Manny” Villar Jr.
Nograles griped about a Teodoro snub during a recent visit to Davao City, where the Speaker is now running for mayor, and the absence of civility that he said was causing a “total disarray” in the administration coalition barely a month before the May 10 elections.

Gonzales leaves Lakas, joins LP
He did not have to leave the ruling Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrats, his party of 15 years, because he is running unopposed in the congressional district of Mandaluyong City.
But Deputy Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II still decided to support Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
Gonzales, a staunch ally of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the House of Representatives, said he left Lakas-Kampi-CMD not because of alleged funding problems hounding the ruling party.
“I did it because this is something that I believe in,” the congressman said in an interview with reporters.
Abangan, baka si Gibo ang huling mag-jump ship and endorse Villarroyo. Anything can happen in Pinoy politics.
Welcome naman pala ni Noynoy ang mga bata ni Gloria basta sa kanya lang mapunta.
Sana nga totoo ang Villaroyo para lahat na Gibo people, kay Villar na. That would solve his problem of catching up with Noynoy inthe surveys.
Problema lang Noynoy is also doing his own courting of Gloria’s boys and he has alrready won a number like Boyet Gonzales of Rizal,Gov. Loreto Ocampo of Misamis Occidental, Caloocan Mayor Eccheverri,Davao’s Duterte and Rep. Del Rosario.

Party switching is not uncommon anywhere..if one believes that he no longer subscribes to the party programs and ideologies, then switching is always an option…I used to be a follower of the New Democrats, the Socialist Party, as they seems to be soo progressive and it was Tommy Douglas Party, but the New Party was entirely different from what Tommy’s Socialist once was…It turned out a Dud that even its leader jumped to Liberal..But jumping for other reasons, then that is further making the Party System weaker and weaker.
But I think Nograles will have a hard time beating Duterte’s daughter in Davao…All my kins and there are hundreds of them are all for the Dutertes as her mom was also my Nephew main sponsor during his wedding attended and the way I perceived it, Davaoweneos just love the Dutertes.

Tanggapin nating Gibo was not born yesterday pero bulag siya sa katotohanan as far his presidential ambition is concerned. Bakit kamo? Sa kasaysayan ng Philippine politics, may 5 akong nailista na maituturing na pambhira patis sa kandidatura ni Gibo.
1. Siya lamang ang kandidato ng administrasyon na hindi lantaraang inindorso ng party titular head, sa pagkakataong ito, si GMA ng partido PALAKA at kinikilala niya bilang mahal na pangulo ng bansa.
2. Siya lamang ang walang personal na piniling kandidato sa pagka vice president. Kung hindi pa pinagtulakan si Edu Manzano na sana’y sa pagka senador lamang ang puntirya at sa ibang partido pa sasama, walang gustong maki-tandem kay Gibo.
3. Siya lamang ang kandidatong walang complete senatorial line up. Kung noong mga nakaraang panahon, halos magpatayan sa pagtakbo kasama sa tiket ng administrasyon, ngayon ang mga cabinet members o potential candidates nila, tahasang tumanggi at yung iba, kung hindi lumipat ng bakuran, tumakbo sa mababang pwesto at maging sa partylist ay pinatulan. May kumabit at sumabit din sa ibang partido bilang guest candidates.
4. Siya lamang ang kandidatong hindi umaligwa ang rating (pinakamataas ay 8%)at napako sa ikaapat na pwesto na milya-milya ang layo sa nangunguna sa survey.
5. Isang buwan bago dumating ang halalan, lalong tumindi ang pagka giba at mahina na ang kokak ng PALAKA at ang inaaasahang suporta ng mga local officials ay nagka windang-windang na, nag kanya-kanya na dahil sa confusion at higit sa lahat, wala raw pondong dumarating.
Dahil na rin sa hindi matatag ang party system sa Pilipinas, hindi na nakakapagtaka ang paglipat sa ibang partido kapag darating ang election. Sa pulitika sa Pilipinas, hindi ito political sin.

Ang daming kasalanan yang si Davide sa taumbayan. His appointment as permanent representative to the UN did not only violate the Foreign Service law on age. It set the precedent of bypassing the Commission on Appointments.
Since he knew that Sen. Jinggoy Estrada would block his appointment, Gloria Arroyo allowed him to just assume his post there without CA confirmation saying that it’s a UN body and the position is not covered by law. Before him, all those who held that position had to pass through CA.
Using the Davide example, Arroyo wanted to use that again with Alfonso Yuchengco, whom she appointed ambassador to Germany at the overripe age of 87 and with less than two months left in her stolen presidency. It’s a good thing it was exposed.

Remember Erap exposed Lucio Tan as the one who lobbied to him to have Davide appointed as Supreme Court chief justice?
Kung may delikadeza ka ba namang tao, you ask someone with pending cases before the Supreme Court to lobby for you. That suggested that he had previous relationship with Tan who is known to be generous with government officials who can help him in his cases.
Noynoy will win but let’s not expect reforms, as promised. It’s more of the same.

On one hand, Davide appears very opportunistic, top-of-the-line OroCan variety whose motives are darker than you can ever imagine. On the other, he simply has no choice but to return a very big favor he got from Cory. Cory went all-out for him to save his ass! He was sure to be impeached as Fuentebella’s complaint had already been endorsed by then NPC Chair, now Noynoy’s opponent, Gibo Teodoro who had the clout over his Congressional peers to ensure Davide’s goose is cooked.

The equivalent of the US Secretary of State is the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
saxnviolins, thanks for the clarification. But I don’t think GMA wants to be DFA secretary. Unlike in the US where being Secretary of State is a big deal and carries clout, here in the Philippines, it’s no big deal.
