Ayun sa report, nagre-reorganize daw ang Liberal Party para ayusin ang takbo ng kampanya ni Noynoy Aquino.
Noong isang linggo, may report din na magti-take charge na raw si Noynoy sa kanyang kampanya.
Magandang hakbang ito ni Noynoy at ng Liberal Party at nangyari lamang ito dahil sa pagbagsak ni Noynoy at pag-akyat naman ni Manny Villar ng Nacionalista Party sa surveys.
Mahalaga ang surveys dahil yun ang nag-pupulso ng damdamin at pag-iisip ng sambayanan. Parang thermometer yan. Pinapakita kung ano ang init sa loob.
Ngunit kadalasan ngayon, ginagamit ang survey na parang thermostat, parang ma-impluwensya ang temperature.
Kasi karamihan sa Pilipino, mahilig sumakay sa bandwagon. Sa kanila kasi, pare-pareho alng ang lahat na kandidato. Kaya kung sino ang nangunguna, doon sila. Takot masama sa talunan.
Kaya lang kailangan siguraduhin na ang survey ay gawa ng grupong mapagkatiwalaan. Ang Social Weather Station at Pulse Asia ay may track record na. Maayos ang kanilang paggawa ng survey kaya yung kanila lang ang siniseryoso ko. Yung iba, take notes lang muna ako.
Balik sa re-organization na ginagawa daw ng Liberal Party. Kinuha raw si dating Sen. Serge Osmeña na campaign coordinator. Tumatakbo si Serge ngayon para senador sa tiket ni Noynoy. Kaya maliban sa kampanya sa kanyang sarili, tutulong din daw siya sa pagpatakbo ng kampanya ni Noynoy.
Tingnan natin kung ano ang mangyayari sa re-organization na ito kasi ang campaign manager pa rin ay si dating congressman Butch Abad.
Sayang ang naunang lamang ni Noynoy. Pagkatapos niyang ipinahayag ang kanyang intensyun tumakbo bilasng prtesidente noong Septyembre 2009, 50 porsiyento ang kanyang rating sa survey ng SWS at 14 per cent lang si Villar. Magda-dalawang buwan pa lang matapos mamatay ang kanyang inang si dating Pangulong Cory Aquino noon.
Paano nangyari na noong Enero 2010 ng SWS ay 42 porsiyento na lang si Noynoy at tumaas naman si Villar na may 35 porsiyento? Maraming dahilan. Ang isa ay nagtrabaho talaga ng husto si Villar at nagbuhos sa TV ads. Inayos din ni Villar ng husto ang kanyang organisasyun sa baba, sa buong kapuluan.
Ang LP naman, napasukan ng yabang. Si Noynoy mabait kaya lang ang nagpapatakbo naman ng kampanya niya . kung umasta, akala mo utang ng loob mo sa kanila kung papayagan ka nilang sumali sa kanila.
Kaya mabuti naman na nangyari itong pagbagsak sa surveys ni Noynoy ngayon na kakaumpisa pa lang ang opisyal na campaign period. May oras pa para ayusin ni Noynoy ang takbo ng kampanya.
Ang hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala, etong kay Conrado deQuiros with him/deQuiros saying that to be the next Malacanang rightfully belongs to Noynoy because of the Aquino heritage/bloodline.
Dapat itsa pwera muna ni Noynoy ang tinaguriang “Kamaganak inc” na pinangungunahan ng uncle Peping niya at ang pamilya nito. Maraming botante ang alam ang abilidad ng mga iyon, parang ala FG ni GMA, just IMHO.
Sa banda naman ni Erap, below is quoted from a local paper:
“Medyo kulang kami sa campaign funds pero meron tayong mga kaibigan na tumutulong naman. Alam naman nating sigurista din ang mga negosyante. Based on my experience pag malapit na eleksyon dun na bumubuhos ang suporta,” Estrada said.”
Ang pagtulong ng mga sinasabi niyang mga negosyante ay siguradong may trade off, favors in return. Kaya hindi titino ang ating gobyerno, dahil sa ganyang klaseng utang na loob. Dapat tigilan iyang ganyang style.

Hindi lang naman mga negosyante ang hinihingian/nagbibigay ng donasyon. Pati yung mga fraternities, sinusulatan ang mga brod nila para sa tulong sa pagkandidato.
Ang alam ko, kawawa ang mga taga-Sigma Rho dahil tatlong brod nila ang kandidato sa Senado at pareparehong may tsansang manalo. Kung magbibigay ka ng isang libo kay Enrile, dapat isang libo rin kay Angara at Drilon. Puro may pagasa ayon sa mga survey (puro pa Senate Presidents!).

Beg to disagree. There are two kinds of elites in the Philippines, if I can sum it up this way. One who use politics and believes in status quo, and the others who believes in free market and the rule of law. Obviously Madrigal is the latter, that’s why she is well like! Considering Villaroyo, derision comment may not be true considering that he is the beneficiary of biggest funding coming from this elitist group who believes in status quo, as seen on the amount of funding spent on his campaign, TV ads and the like!

SumpPit knows fully well what is happening. If you all remember, SumpPit posted a short message of warning in the other thread, I think it was a week ago. I did a follow up on it, I researched it. What I found out is frightening and very depressing. It did not sink in right away when I found it. I guess, I was in the state of denial or I was not really convince yet because it seems like the data is not complete. So, I did a little more research until I found something that really convinced me. I was in the state of shock and still am.
I don’t know why SumpPit did not even try to explain it here in this blog on what he knows. Maybe because he was/is afraid that bloggers here will ridicule him.

Maybe you should learn how to read between the lines and not to swallow hook line and sinker, every word and statements from all tradpols politicians not only Noynoy but also the others. Ang mga taong basta na lang lumulunok sa sinasabi ng iba at mga politiko, ay mga Uto-uto, kasi pumapayag silang ma-uto ng mga politiko.
The best one can do is use some common sense. Why politicians are telling all those things. Because these are good sound bytes for the people they are courting to vote for them. These are the things that these politicians know that people want to hear because of their hatred of gloria. It’s election time and all of these politicians, no exceptions, say things that are pleasant to the ear of the people, and even promise the moon to win votes.
Now it’s just up to you and everybody else to sort out what is doable and impossible. The mind should be a two-way street, let some in and let some out.Have an open mind, not a mindset.

I totally agree with LP being “mayabang”. It’s an eye-opener for them that, it is not the LP after all, it’s Tita Cory all along.
On the positive side, Noy has been roused from his sleep, as it should have been. And Serge Osmena, rejoining as Campaign Coordinator a.k.a janitor, I expect more fire from this campaign, and strategies changed.
I still would vote for Noy.

Questions arising about the constitutionally of CJ appointment by Gloria to the SC, Noynoy exposed his ignorance of the law by threatening a co-equal branch of government.
Oh Noynoy, the ignorance, yabang and arrogance are showing. These traits are supposed to be not from a presidential candidate, but the eagerness to present himself as tough, he went well over the limit and exposed himself instead as dictatorial all of which as a result of his ignorance, yabang and arrogance.
A commitment to vote for Noynoy will be another big setback for the Philippines.

I think this comment is from someone that has run out of logical ideas to put forward on why Noynoy should not be voted for president. It is somewhat a low level comment in my opinion.
I think a president who is tagged as one of the most corrupt in the world is most embarassing than having the the looks of NOynoy. Just because Erap has good looks just does not make him qualifed for the presidency. Wow, hope not one of your relatives have the look of one whose looks you have maligned here.

Many knows that this election is about selecting someone who can do the least damage (if were wrong) and at the same time do the most in terms of progress understanding that there’s no PERFECT candidate for president. In the end of the day, the choice will be limited to the top two Noynoy and Villaroyo, or three if Erap can make it on 30%+ standing, simply because this is what the people want. Naiintidihan mo ba? How can you say “uto-uto” when reality is we have to choose from these top three candidates and that many wanted to vote it out instead of something else, para sa pagbabago!

If the title of this thread is true, Noy’s camp must have learned quickly from what happened in the US, specifically the state of Massachusetts. Their Atty General gunning for the late Ted Kennedy’s senate seat was feeling complacent she was just sitting around not campaigning in full-force thinking being a Senator was in the bags! She was dumped!
Noy was in the same predicament, seemed content riding the two silverhorses of his late parents’ immense popularity. Now, Villar is catching up furiously and panic set in. Do they have time to repair such damage? Who knows…..But Gibo should also campaign diligently especially in the Bicol region and the Visayas, and Mindanao. I do believe he can win the North or at least garner more votes than Noynoy.

8)For the movie industry, he established the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (MOWELFUND), Inc. which has now become a robust organization that provides industry workers with financial and professional assistance.
9)He is the Founder and President of the ERAP Para sa Mahirap Foundation, a foundation that offers scholarship assistance to poor but deserving college students.
10)He also established:- a)the San Juan Progress Foundation, b)the San Juan Police, c)Fire Trust Fund, and d)the Friends of Joseph Estrada, which offers free burial assistance for the poor folks of San Juan.
11)In 1987, he set his sights on a Senate run and handily garnered a seat. He was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Public Works. He was Vice-Chairman of the Committees on Health, Natural Resources and Ecology and Urban Planning.
12)In the Senate, Joseph Ejercito Estrada was credited with the passage of, among other major pieces of legislation, the bills on irrigation project and the protection and propagation of carabaos, the beast of burden in the rural areas.
13)As a senator, he was one of the so-called “Magnificent 12” who voted to terminate the RP-US Military Bases Agreement leading to the withdrawal of American servicemen from the Clark Air Base in Pampanga and the Subic Naval Base in Zambales.

17)He funded the Philippine Drug Abuse Resistance Education (PhilDARE) Program on August 24, 1993, to address the growing problem of drug abuse among the youth.

He put up the ERAP Muslim Youth Foundation because it was his campaign promise for the people of Mindanao. In the Mindanao State Colleges, in Marawi City, he promised to send one hundred (100) Muslim Youth yearly to Australia and America.
When he was elected President, he spoke on January 25, 1999 of his project Muslim Youth Foundation in Smokey Mountain, and in Angelicum College in Sto. Domingo Church at Quezon City during the launching of the Educational Reentry, Agenda for the President to the Poor.
To comply with this promise, he asked his brother-in-law, Dr. Raul de Guzman to put up the Erap Muslim Youth Foundation, whose articles of Incorporation was duly registered with the SEC.
Former President Estrada was automatically the Chairman Emeritus of the foundations that he established. He was the number one fund-raiser but he is not a signatory to the checks of the foundation. The seed money of the foundation came from his salary. He sponsored an Erap Golf Tournament which raised P27,000,000.00, some part of which went to MOWELFUND and most of it to the Erap Muslim Youth Foundation. Funds were also raised from Valentines Ball at Manila Hotel and from solicitations from his businessman friends and classmates.

Firm helps build Gawad Kalinga houses for Camp Abubakar folk. During the Estrada presidency, the foundation aimed to help families of soldiers who died in line of duty. The families received big sums of donations from various financial institutions and charitable institutions that had remained untouched to this day.
“I always have the welfare of our soldiers in mind. During my administration, I saw to it that soldiers killed or injured in line of duty and their families received appropriate benefits and compensation they deserve,” Estrada said.
At the same time, children of the fallen soldiers will receive scholarship assistance from the “Erap Para sa Mahirap” Foundation with donations that had remained intact from the time it was first established when he was mayor of San Juan.

Anyhow, the SC decalred that all those who filed their candidcaies are deemed resigned, does it mean he bitch is also considered resign? how about the senators who are also running, are they deemed resigned as well?

If these two were able to unite in their power grab from Erap, there’s very little doubt that they can do it again, the problem is they are both greedy and will not give an inch, but ultimately Peping will prevail and get the lions share, due to the fact that the president is his loving nephew Noynoy.

I know the real score with regards to BNPP, meron big faults according to the engineering experts. Bakit ko alam? Kausap ko sila e. I’m not against power plants, nakatira ako sa Yuropa and ‘merika for many years run by power plants. Pero yan sa aking hometown ay dapat talagang ipasara, hindi na nga raw mariripeyr, sabi ng bayaw ko na kasamang nag-conduct ng study recently. Huwag ninyo kaming patayin dun a, dahil lang galit kayo kay Cory Aquino.

There is nothing irregular about the decision on appointed officials considered resigned. The decision was not yet final, and the Comelec filed a motion for reconsideration. It was just fortuitous that the composition of the Supreme Court had changed, so the correct (in my view) side won. (This may indicate the probable independence of the new appointees, as opposed to the sipsip that is Presbiterio Velasco and Kachura (Kachura in Kapampangan means pangit).

If Aquino is thinking of taking charge (has he taken charge na ba?), he should include clarifiying his party’s position. It wouldn’t do well for someone saying that he’s taking charge or is in charge to turn a blind eye to the Magdalo issue and hopes that it goes away. The problem is there — what better way than resolve the issue before election time.
I do hope that Aquino and Roxas are not belittling the candidacy of these young officers. I can understand that Ermita can do that, i.e., belittle Lim, Layug and company, but Aquino and Roxas? I would like to think they have better intellect than Ermita.

That is why Macoy never touched the Laurels. Like he said, I know how to reciprocate.

In UP, we were once required to attend a symposium by our activist teacher (Ms.Legasto, I think) conducted by a an American from a group similar to Greenpeace. He focused mainly on the workmanship and materials but admitted that the design is up to standards. I was convinced then it was really dangerous until the next day when my Physics 72 Professor Abito who’s also a Director of the Phil. Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and was also part of the BNPP project, refuted in class all the speaker’s arguments. What sticks in my mind is, “That guy is stupid enough to forget that we would be the first ones whose lives are at risk should an accident happen because we will be there when it will be first tested. This is the culmination of my career as a physicist and also those of my colleagues’. Our collective reputation, PAEC’s and that of UP are all at stake here.” (I’m paraphrasing him.)
Few years later, I find myself working in the company (Asia Industries) that sold the Nuclear Plant. All documentation of that deal was part of my archives and suffice it to say, all the equipment, materials, contractors, management, and supervision were all industry’s finest. Except for the local civil works contractor who obviously had no prior nuclear plant experience. (But who did?) The main contracts for the plant were not in my possession though. But a substantial portion of the project’s peripheral equipment, including consultancy contracts and several project studies, was available then. Before somebody stole all of those files. Or kept them safe from me and my probing staff. Or maybe sold them to JJ Vergara and/or Herminio Disini himself.
Every aspect of the construction was overseen by highly-experienced American engineers jointly-selected by Westinghouse and Napocor (USS Engineers, Inc., if I remember correctly), of course, the locals had their own consultants and a few Japanese from the joint venture (Kumagai Gumi of Japan + Disini’s Summa Construction = Summa Kumagai, Inc.) This was only the first of 12 nuclear plants Marcos had planned to put on stream, I don’t think ANYBODY would be that irresponsible, Westinghouse especially, to risk future contracts by allowing the inexperienced Pinoys’ full discretion on the quality of work they sought to deliver. The workmanship, despite what “experts” would later claim, was overseen by the industry’s top guns every step of the way, the very same people who are still supervising hundreds of power plant construction sites, mostly in Asia.
Some 32 countries have nuclear power plants operating efficiently, not all of them are first world. Everyone of them had their share of the nerve-wrecking first-time energization – no spectacular explosions so far. Believe me, forget the nuclear reactor first, but switching on the main circuit breaker on any large project the first time takes a lot of courage not just for the guy with the lever but everybody else on site – contractors, suppliers, designers, engineers, and owners. My electrical foreman who does this makes one big sign of the cross before latching the gears on it is not uncommon to see other people secretly doing the same behind us.
Look, in civilian nuclear power plants, there had been ONLY 2 major accidents, 3-mile Island and Chernobyl, despite about 13,000 cumulative reactor-years of operation worldwide, most minor accidents came from military and/or experimental reactors which is not our concern.
The accident in 3-Mile Island’s 880MW reactor, which New York Times (and many Pinoys) wrongly claim as the twin nuclear plant of BNPP (only 650MW), had no fatalities even if a core meltdown had occurred and some radiation leaked. The radiological effect to the humans affected was still within limits the investigators even initially ruled out meltdown.
Chernobyl was different, the 40 plus firemen and plant personnel who died there were fighting a raging fire caused by graphite, a large part of the Chernobyl population were exposed to radiation the most notable was thyroid cancer in a few children.
But that would not happen with the Westinghouse design which features a containment building which would restrict radiation during core meltdown within its 12-inch special-grade concrete walls that radioactive particles would just be washed down by high temperature steam. Chernobyl didn’t have that. They used graphite which was flammable.
What probably convinced many Filipinos and later on even Cory’s government was the argument of the likes of the American activist-speaker in UP and their “newly-informed-experts” or plain leftist adherents was the overly-exaggerated doomsday scenario of large populations dying from cancers, decades of environmental damage over the whole of Central Luzon about to be caused by a dormant volcano, or a magnitude 9 earthquake, some people’s imagination may have been tickled to include a Hiroshima mushroom cloud, too. Teh BNPP has so far survived several strong earthquakes and one huge volcanic explosion nearby sans any structural damage.
[What a nuclear plant simply does is use energy from one nuclear rod at a time to boil water and produce steam in order to continuously rotate a turbine connected to a dynamo that will generate electricity. In a nutshell, conversion of nuclear energy into electrical energy. No explosions.]
The fatalities data coming from nuclear plant installation accidents side by side with those for other sources of energy is a rout. The single biggest one is 2,500 deaths from a collapsing hydroelectric dam in India and a similar incident causing the death of 1,000 the next year in India, too.
But over time, methane gas explosions from mines that supply coal-fired power plants way outnumber nuclear deaths. China, for example, averages 4,000 deaths per year in coal mine methane explosions. Compare that to 13,000 cumulative reactor-years with less than 100 fatalities from only 2 accidents. Westinghouse plants, even if these were built to the old OECD standard, was conservatively designed and stringently adheres to the one-accident-per-10,000-years specs.

Nuclear power plants have been the safest source of energy and the industry continues to improve its systems, passive monitoring and controls, and redundant equipment are common fixtures that has even reduced further the risks to humans and the immediate environment.
I believe the mere fact that it was a Marcos pet project during those days was reason enough to mothball it. Then add the abolition of Geronimo Velasco’s Ministry of Energy which later proved be the biggest fuck-up Cory ever did that we ended up paying more expensive IPP contracts to this day. A few years later, Cory’s government was on its knees begging Velasco to sell his excess power in his Republic-Asahi Glass Plant to Meralco. Velasco sold and laughed all the way to the bank.
The experts on the “other side” have over time used the local civil contractor as their whipping boy to justify that the plant was defective. Well, the contractor was also a subsidiary of Herminio Disini’s Herdis group – Westinghouse’s local distributor, and also the underwriter of the plant’s insurance, APFCOR, was Disini-owned.
Upon Cory’s assumption of the presidency, Nicanor Perlas, the anti-nuclear activist was hired by Malacañang then to serve as adviser to Cory. That sealed the BNPP’s fate.
I believe the mere fact that it was a Marcos pet project during those days was reason enough to mothball it.
Tongue, I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that that was the reason why the Westinghouse plant was mothballed. None whatsoever. Pure vendetta.

We are renovating our country home right now and have decided not to go for gas installations, eg., heating, etc. and instead for electricity as source of energy. We believe that gas will eventually become more expensive due to dwindling gas sources whereas cost of electricity will remain stable — reason, France’s main sources of energy, i.e., more than 80%, are nuclear.
The UK has now lined up a plan for renewing and building nuclear power plants too. Finland, I believe has lined up a second one. Obama’s platform includes setting up nuclear power plants too.

If I may add to the above, the Chernobyl accident happened 2 months after EDSA 1 revolution. The plant’s mothballing was pushed by influential interest-groups following Cory, among them Del Lazaro and the Zobels (for the interest of Shell Phils) and the Lopezes, too (who wanted out from the restrictions of Napocor) after getting back ownership of Meralco without spending a single cent.
These groups exploited the inexperience of the newly-installed Cory for their personal gain and years of suffering to the electricity consumers.
Agree ako dyan, Tongue, na dapat inayos at pinaandar kaagad ang BNPP pero naging pulitikal na ang issue. Kaya ayan at sira-sira na at kung maripeyr man ay mas malaking gastos at delikado na kesa magtayo na lang ng panibago na aayon sa modernong structures ng power plant.
Nuclear is the only way to go, no doubt.
BUT the consequences, hundreds if not thousands of years down the line is questionable. We can argue of course, heck we’re already dead; that’s the other generations problems.
Problems and future problems:
1. The former U S Naval Base Subic’s nuclear wastes are not fully cleaned up. Both US and Philippines are ignoring these problems.
2. Where does the radio-active wastes be stored from BNPP
years down the line, if activated?
Handling of radio-active waste is very delicate, from it’s transport and storing. And after the state of Nevada spent almost 10 billion dollars for a repository to all of America’s almost 80,000 metric tons of nuclear waste – oppositionists cries and won, and now what? Again nuclear does a lot of good BUT when it comes to finding a place to bury the “rotten” part, every state is crying “not in my backyard” bullcrap!

Was indeed struggling to give you a response since Tekla, este Tesla wasn’t in Liberal Arts (Jose, Boni, Lapulapu were more popular). My answer was in a layman’s context, however.

Just curious. I’ve encountered wireless power transmission before but my understanding of the subject is that this is about power transmission without the benefit of the use of cables as oppose too nuclear power generation which is about power generation by controlled nuclear reactions (i.e. nuclear power plant such as the mothballed BNPP). Two different subjects in my view. If you want to pursue this subject related to wireless power transmission studies, DOE have good info online and it’s free.

I’ve professed my incompetence in technology, modern or otherwise somewhere here or in other blogs. I just abhor people like you who comes out with outrageous claims and pretend to know them all. Unless your motive is to impress me you’re more technically genius-oriented and more educated than me, which I could care less.
