One of the Nora Desmond character’s famous lines is “I am big! It’s the pictures that got small.” In his mind, Joseph Estrada is still the big shot matinee idol, champion and idol of the masses; but the reality is it’s his fantasy of relevance that has enlarged over time even as his box office and electoral clout has diminished. This is not to say that the clout has evaporated totally or that he hasn’t retained his fan base. He obviously still does.
The surveys show him increasing his percentage but it needs to be asked if this is purely a function of his reclaiming his constituency, or more the interaction of official concessions and that constituency rallying because of these unexpected signs of official favor.
Prior to Estrada’s throwing his hat into the ring, the legal consensus was that the Constitution prohibited former presidents from seeking the presidency. This was a view we believe was widely shared by the public. The Palace, for its part, had tried to limit Estrada’s freedom of political action by holding over his head a condition in his pardon that stated he would give up political aspirations. But when the deadline for the filing of candidacies for 2010 approached, the Palace itself announced it had no intention of blocking his comeback plans.
The Comelec, so strict in the case of party lists like Ang Ladlad and presidential candidates such as Nicanor Perlas, lapsed into uncritical promiscuity in the case of Estrada. Where once the legal consensus was that Estrada would have to appeal a Comelec dismissal of his candidacy, the burden of proof shifted to those who might want to oppose Estrada’s Comelec-approved candidacy before the Supreme Court. The possibility of Estrada’s candidacy eventually being voided as constitutionally-impermissible remains; but the hurdles have been magically cleared so far, and this can only foster Estrada’s delusions not only of himself, but also with the electorate.
And for no other purpose than self-gratification: his I, Me and Myself candidacy is premised on recovering the position he lost by virtue of his own indolence, irresponsibility and blitheness after being elected to the presidency in a voters’ revolt against the status quo. Now he is all about restoring the status quo, pre-Edsa Dos.
It is as if Edsa Dos had never happened. Ironically, he has become joined at the hip with the administration that replaced him in the sense that both have reacted to Edsa Dos with an insistence on impunity. Estrada insists he never did any wrong; Arroyo insists (along with Estrada) that Edsa Dos itself was wrong and both prefer that all memory and commemoration of it be discarded and forgotten.

The comeback Estrada wants is not about the country. It is about addiction. The same lust for gambling, drinking and womanizing that led Estrada to bungle the presidency is making him run regardless of how his nostalgia for lost power promises nothing but a return to failure.

This editorial from the Philippine Daily Inquirer refreshes my memory of how this paper treat Erap from the beginning. They have been his no. 1 critic for some unknown reasons since time immemorial. You know it is a fact that most of their writers and correspondents could be bought. Ramon Tulfo started it all. I am not surprised therefore if this paper resumes attacking Erap, now, that he is cleared to run by the Comelec. A neutral paper should know how to respect decisions otherwise they lose the credibility of being fair and partial.

We should ban both the Namfrel and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting because they are just instruments of manipulations against the will of the people. PPCRV is a Jesuit control organization which is supportive of Noynoy. They are not neutral organization. If the race is close, they will give the winning margin to Noynoy. Namfrel was part of gloria’s machine to cheat and during the time of Cory they cheated in favor of Cory.
In 1992, Fidel V. Ramos won the presidency by capturing only 23 percent of the votes, with a mere 900,000 plurality over his closest rival. Our people accepted his victory, because the elections were validated by an independent and competent Comelec supported by a credible PPCRV.

In my book, The Philippine Daily Inquirer has lost all credibility where Erap is concerned.
It’s one mainstream medium that has never been objective where Erap is concerned so it’s very difficult to believe that they will ever be objective at all.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer can boast of helping topple a legitimate president of the Republic while the impeachment process was going on. We all know that the Inquirer is complicit in the violation of the Constitution.
In that respect, to me, although the Inquirer does report ‘judiciously’ on other matters outside of Erap (I’m also dubitative on many of its reports) they cannot, however, claim to hold the high ground when it comes to writing the truth.
The Inquirer and many of its columnists are partly responsible for the political chaos this country finds itself in and are a huge cause of why Gloria is in power today.
So to the Inquirer, I’d like to say, bugger off! When you have atoned for your sins against the Filipino people for being party to the shitting of the Constitution, then you may claim a high ground, but you truly need to crawl to get there for you to regain some credibility. Otherwise, you’ll remain the lil parochial newspaper that’s populated by lil people with lil minds from lil parochial places.
Erap Wins,GMA Declared Martial Law
Day after the May 2010 Presidential Election in the Philippines,Erap wins and the Comelec declared a failure of election and at the same time Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declared Martial law.The country is in chaos. Hundreds of thousands people in all walks of life then it swell to a million of angry citizens will protest and march on Malacanang demanding Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s head. Some of these citizens will be accidently shot and wounded by the PSG but one of the angry protesters actually gets to Sec.Eduardo Ermita who is found lying in a janitor’s closet outside of his executive secretary’s office with a strange grin on his face. No one knows why.
The press secretary,DND secretary, and the chief-of-staff are also found there, skipping arm in arm and circling the body praying, “Hail Mary”
The event will be the catalyst for the national mobilization of angry citizens of all persuasions to take the country back. Media outlets that keep the status quo will become targets of that anger. They are boycotted and go out of business. Local politicians who refuse to listen to the people will also become targets.
They are voted out of office.The speaker of the house is accidentally trampled to death when the sons and brother-in-law of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo run from the House floor and flee for their lives. He dies with a strange grin on his face and beyond recognition. The only one who knows why is a partylist congressman who could not control his laughter, and he is not telling.
All business are close and will fail from looting. Foreigners and tourist arm with Polaroid camera will witness the depth of the commitment and determination of the Filipino citizens to put an end to these mad midget woman in Malacanang. Hold and departure order are upheld and enforced, any plane that will attempt to move in all airport runways will be shot by RPG. These tourist begin to prefer a known quality of life in their home country to the uncertainty of living in the Philippines.
The Vice president elect Jojo Binay immediately mobilizes the Philippine Army reservist in a huge circle around Ayala Ave.in Makati.Trillanes and Gen.Danny Lim’s also manages to capture the heavily guarded Peninsula hotel together with there loyal boys,the soldiers loyal to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo surrendered and join them. The yellow armies of Noynoy and the orange followers of Manny Villar conceded to Erap and also join.
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo finally step down. Col. Ariel Querubin handcuffed her and a bullet proof unmarked police car brought her to unknown location for interrogation. Anti-corruption Task force are on the loose to hunt all GMA neocons for graft and corruption,plunder and election cheating.
Some Comelec commissioner will be sued for cheating because 75% who voted for admin candidates are all resting in peace at loyola memorial park,Forest lawn and municipal cemeteries with the same fingerprints.15% are flying voters, and only 10% are legitimate voters. Despite the aggressive efforts of the Comelec and thugs to cheat Erap, and quite surprisingly,failure of election through action of cheating is upheld by the Supreme Court in this case Comelec Commissioner as a party of cheating are found guilty of violating the constitutional rights of Filipino masses.They are sent to jail for life and the fine are enormous. They files for bankruptcy and in its wake is never seen or heard from again.
Vilma Santos finally divorces from Ralph Recto and remarries Edu Manzano whose wife had previously filed for and won a divorce claiming he was, as most of American passport holder finally figured out, a complete idiot. Unfortunately, on his wedding night, Edu who had a little too much to drink, trips and falls from a third floor patio. He survives the fall, but dies from suffocation as his left foot somehow ends up in his mouth.
Shortly thereafter, I win the lottery and retire in Zambales to spend the rest of my long life enjoying Bikini watching along the beach. Because of my big mega million winning, I become the richest man in Zambales. I use my wealth to create food, jobs, housing and health care for the poor in my hometown.They want me to be their governor but, I refused. Then, in a start, I wake up from my best sleep ever with a smile on my face. No one knows why. I actually believed this BS and it took a while for me to realize that it was just a cruel pork adobo induced dream. I find myself again in that familiar large room with no furniture or windows and the nice padding on the walls and floors. I do remember now. I don’t know what got into me about smoking. I had to do it. I mean, I couldn’t stop myself. I was surprised and astounded that I was doing it while I did it, but I had to do it.
You know, back when Christopher Columbus first saw natives smoking tobacco on Cuba, back in October 1492, he thought it was a helluva thing. He took some tobacco back to Europe and ever since then everybody who smoked some has wanted to smoke some more. But what Chris didn’t tell many people was that natives all died at about age of thirty-five and almost none of them lived to be forty years old.But, for me I passed that line drawing in the sand.My friend who never smoke throughout his entire life died by a vehicular hit and run on his way to store to buy cigarettes for his father at young age.

What can one expect from the Inquirer?
Ways back then when Estrada first entered the presidential derby their full resources and machinery together with Cardinal Sin, Cory and the civil society were all out against him. It’s the yellow people’s newspaper and in the forefront against Erap. They have thrown everything against him including the toilet bowl, fortunately for Erap his down to earth and unpretentious dealing with the poor saved him the day and swept those yellows down under with a landslide victory all over the country. Sadly however those yellows lacked the sportsmanship and graciousness of a loser and so from day one of the Estrada presidency, they plotted to grab power. A conspiracy among the church, Makati businessmen, civil society, military and even the Supreme Court succeeded in grabbing power and in place put Gloria as their president. A clear violation of the constitution, but for this group they assumed that they are above the law and they are the law, and a complete disregard of the voice of the majority of the Filipinos who voted for Estrada.
Victors share in the spoils of war. They all lined up for Gloria and these yellows got more than their fair share in the power-grab. Even Cory and Noynoy got their share thru the SCTEX interchange, and were provided soldiers to murder the poor workers in the Hacienda Luisita which is a private enterprise and property.
And these yellows and civil society, Makati businessmen are all lining up once again at the back of Noynoy in the hope that they will hit the jackpot once again. They know that they can easily let Noynoy dance to their tune. They were once insiders in Gloria’s circle and they contributed to the corruption and miseries of this country. Their interest is only for themselves and their businesses and nothing for the poor. Events and history has proven how this group manipulates and monopolize wealth and power for their own end.
Now it’s up for the Filipinos to decide come election day who will be their choice to lead them.

Not Once, but Twice nilang winalang-hiya ang Saligang Batas at panggagago sa taong Bayan. Why expect the editorial as written to be objective where Erap is concerned or somebody else for that matter, considering it’s the new paper or its editor’s perspective. Whether the editorial is dubitative, complicit, distorted, etc. not meaning to agree that it is, its the new paper’s or editor’s point of view or opinion and anyone reader can decide whether to agree or not with regards to it’s content, as we do now. Whether the newspaper serves its purpose credible or not, it’s not different than any other newspapers in our country and will write as they please.
