On Jan. 14, the Carlos P. Romulo Foundation, Asian Institute of Management, and ABS News Channel will hold a foreign policy forum featuring presidential candidates and will focus on Philippine credibility and competitiveness in the world.
The forum takes special significance at this time when world has to deal with the twin threats of terrorism and economic recession and the Philippines carries additional burden of resources strained by recent calamities and a notorious reputation of lawlessness.
Liberal Party presidential candidate Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, who is leading in all election surveys, has declined the invitation to participate in the forum. Surprisingly, Nacionalista Party presidential bet Manny Villar, who used to have a phobia with presidential fora, has agreed to attend.
This is not the first time that Aquino would be snubbing a foreign-policy related forum. He was also a no- show in the forum on Millenium Development Goals co-sponsored by the MDG Campaign and the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines in October 2009.
Aquino’s avoidance of the Jan. 14 event gives credence to talks that since he was not impressive in the past few presidential fora he has participated in, his handlers have decided to limit his exposure to such activity to protect his lead.
I guess, Noynoy’s campaign strategists have devised other ways for him to inform the voters what substance can they expect from his presidency. They can’t be just relying on Facebook and other social networks, which everybody knows are maintained by other people and not by the candidate himself.
Anyway, the two-hour forum will be held at the AIM Bldg in Makati starting at 10 a.m. Aside from Aquino and Villar, the organizers have also invited presidential aspirants Joseph Estrada , Richard Gordon and Gilbert Teodoro
The candidates are expected to answer the following concerns:
1. The Maguindanao nightmare and the wider challenge of peace in the Philippine South. What is your assessment of the situation in Maguindanao and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, and what policies and programs will you pursue to bring an end to the conflict in Mindanao and Sulu, and install stable government and sustainable development across the region?
2. Philippine foreign relations and international security. What significance do you attach to Philippine relations with the world, what countries and regions are most important, and do you believe the nation should be involved or not in the international fight against terrorism?
3. Philippine economy and international economic relations. What policies will you adopt for strengthening and growing the national economy, how will you expand foreign trade and investments in the country, and what importance do you attach to key economic organizations such as the World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.
4. Migrant workers. What policies will you adopt with respect to Filipino labor migration, the welfare of OFWs, Philippine relations with labor-receiving countries, and conventions for the protection and rights of migrant workers?
5. Philippine competitiveness in the world. What specific policies and programs will you adopt to reverse the erosion of Philippine international competitiveness in the world, and what particular areas do you consider most vital to national interest?
Registration is required. Those who are interested to attend may call Mel Reyes at 885 0921.
Hindi ba sinabi na ni NoyNoy, when elected president he will always make himself and his cabinet members available to questioning. Laban!!
Umatras na nga siya support for women’s and reproductive health bill — baka pa ma-ungkat.
Surprisingly, Nacionalista Party presidential bet Manny Villar, who used to have a phobia with presidential fora, has agreed to attend.
Maybe because Aquino is not gonna be there? He’s intimidated by Aquino.
Pity Aquino’s decided to skip this event (again!!!!!). Would be extremely useful to hear his opinion on the matter. Can not someone do a crash course with him on foreign policy?
Reminds me of FPJ when he was interviewed by Max Soliven… Never did we see a presidential contender who had little to say on almost anything on national tv. Poor Soliven had to painstakingly pull teeth…
They can’t be just relying on Facebook and other social networks, which everybody knows are maintained by other people and not by the candidate himself.
Agree! Dang! This is not looking good… Good thing he’s got the Aquino name, otherwise, people might not even vote him councilor of a district in Manila.
C’mon Aquino, goddammit — show your bloody mettle! Answer the bloody important questions!
I think Erap can answer and explain the no. 1 question easily. He did what other presidents (past and present) can’t and afraid to do, that is to go on an all-out-war against the rebels. That is one tough act to follow as far as I’m concerned. As to the other question like foreign policy, etc… I still have to hear from him explain his policies of those issues. I just hope he is sober during the forum. 😛
I still remember vividly when the military then over run the rebel camps one by one, and as each camp fall to the hands of the soldiers, they put up the one and only flag of our country, the Philippine flag. As to add insult to injury, they even roasted a pig inside the rebel camp. 😛
OT
One reason why the military and the police didn’t back-up and support Erap during the so-called EDSA 2 is because he got all to himself the milk and butter of the generals, thats is the jueteng proceeds.
Takot?
I will not discount that. But there may be a more mundane reason.
There is a US Filipino group that is organizing a simulcast of a townhall meeting/debate to be held at 10 am Philippine time, and 10 pm East Coast time. Most of the presidentiables have agreed.
What could be a “more mundane reason” why Noy2 won’t attend?
There’s a report that Noynoy was number in FB, then Gibo naman daw…
http://alineang.blogspot.com
I will run after Marcos!” Ay patay! 🙂
I really am trying to give Aquino the benefit of the doubt but I’m finding it difficult to know what he really stands for — I’ve been going through his answers and by gum, they don’t mean a goddamn thing.
And now this — he is refusing to join the fora where he can explain himself.
Frankly, I’m finding he’s becoming more and more difficult to sell, er… to buy pala!
C’mon Aquino! Stop beating around the bloody frigging bush. Let’s hear your platform. How the frig will we know where you stand on issues affecting the country if you don’t want to be quizzed. Not enough to say you’ll run after Marcos — the man has been dead and dead as a dead bozo.
Don’t forget, you are applying for a heavyweight job, man! Get out and show us your platform… What’s wrong with you????
I actually don’t give a shit if the guy is bald, balding or balded… I don’t give a hoot if he can shoot a fly or a mosquito in the air. I don’t even care if he prays 10x a day or that he’s the darling son of Cory and Ninoy. I don’t care if he’s fat or what not.
What I care about is to have HIS answers to the 5 questions in Ellent’s list (among others.)
So, Aquino, let’s have it! (At the rate he’s going, we might end up having shithead Villar for president!)
Between now and the May elections, you bet na marami pang forums na tulad nang ganito. I am more interested doon sa Comelec-sponsored forums with many other media outfits covering those events. As of now, haka-haka lang ng iba yun kung bakit ayaw umattend ni Aquino after attending other forums weeks ago. . hehe
I just hope hindi ma por nada ang mga forums (or is it fora?) dahil ma por nada ang election…is Comelec ready for automation or will it be back to mano mano..
Noynoy’s rule and his best weapon – Silence. No talk no mistake.
His knees are not strong enough to carry him to the forum and scared to death that he might expose himself as ignorant and know nothing when it comes to foreign policy. Foreign policy is a must and I wonder what a combat shooter has to do with being a president.
A presidential aspirant should accept all challenges and challengers to prove that he is capable and worth the peoples trust to lead the nation. But not to Noynoy. Better shut his mouth, duck and be safe to protect a survey result.
Just leave it to the memory of Cory and Ninoy and the name Aquino to carry him to his disired destination.
How pathetic one can be!
From the Philippine Star column of former Foreign Secretary Roberto Romulo:
Sen. Richard Gordon, Sen. Manuel Villar and former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro are to be congratulated for graciously agreeing to take part in the two-hour forum and provide the Filipino public and interested foreign observers a glimpse of their policy views on major issues of national and international affairs. This is to the service of the nation and to their campaigns.
Regrettably, two other candidates – former President Joseph Estrada and Sen. Benigno Aquino III – who were invited to join the forum as early as October last year, begged off a few days ago citing conflicts with their schedules.

So, attendance to these forums(yes Rose, acceptable na to ngayon) is now compulsory all of a sudden? What about the forums that he has attended in the past? Just because he is skipping this one, Noynoy is already afraid to discuss foreign policy? Ibinigay na nga mga tanong di ba? Will this be the last forum delving on a candidate’s outlook on foreign policy issues? Galing at Talino? U bet u will hear him mouth impressive discourses about his take of foreign policy issues. Oh, I will also bet Gordon would be a delight to have in any forum! Artekulit and bright, why can’t he disassociate himself from Putot? Villar? Nevermind! Erap? Bahala na si Tedanz. . .lol. . .why is Aquino’s non-attendance such a big deal all of a sudden? And the campaign period has not even started yet! So what kung mahina si Aquino at magaling sina Pandak, Gibo at Gordon magsalita? May tiwala ba tao sa kanila? You can speak eloquently all u want and people will still not vote for you! Erap only knows that very well in 1998. Roco was arguably the brightest and the best speaker in 2004. Why didnt he capture the imagination of the voters?
Foreign policy? Baka for rain policy?
He he heeh!
Just for fun.
Dapat Philippines first. Filipinos first.
Respect foreign policy while upholding ours when in our own country.
Agree, MPR..”Dapat Philippines first. Filipinos first. Respect foreign policy while upholding ours when in our own country.”
Henry,
Good of you to defend Aquino with such passion… all in your honour. But it would make a lot of difference to hear from the man, the candidate himself.
And truly, without the least bit of malice, I’d like to hear Aquino to tackle the issues that I believe are important, eg., poverty alleviation, polpulation control, corruption at all levels, human rights, his view on corruptions committed by the Macapagal dynasty, law and order, criminality, etc.
I don’t believe that it would be to his disadvantage to speak of these things today or even before the official campaign season begins. Nothing like getting to know the man as early as possible. He is still an unknow quantity as far as I’m concerned, save that he is the son of Cory and Ninoy. They are now irrelevant in the scheme of things as far as I’m concerned.
What is relevant to me is today’s Aquino, the candidate, the man who wants my vote and the votes of the others. Whatever derogatory things are being said about him should be immaterial provided he can face the thorny issues at hand.
He is applying for the highest political office of the land — it is imperative that he tackles these issues head on, nothing wrong either if those who don’t know him want to hear from him first hand. We cannot just dismiss people’s interest in these issues… they are legitimate and Aquino must explain himself, there should be no excuses…
I think Noynoy’s showing up in these forums will do more damage than his not showing up. Lets face it, everytime he opens his mouth in public, his opponents’ ratings go up. Packaging him as a secret “macho” gun-wielding dirty harry type doesn’t help either, as the expression on his face each time he gets excited reminds us of some “downs syndrome” special child. not discounting the the “ab” (singular for abs) as he has one heck of a arms cache down there…
An image of a strong, silent, hard working, reliable, boy-next-door-type would be better. Less talk, less mistakes…less promises, more deeds…maybe he’s saving his voice for the genuine vistory toasting SONA’s later on, who knows? An anti politics, super nontraditional civil servant?
If we don’t look at the whole picture and expect Noynoy to measure up to our templates of statesmanship, debating prowess, charisma (the normal traditional politicians’ template) we’re in for a big disappointment. If he doesn’t win, its Villar, Gloria’s boy…Noynoy may not measure up to our expectations as a politician now, but does that really matter? How many Filipinos care about intelligence? well thought out platforms? speeches? the usual song and dance? What most people look for in our leaders right now is “HOPE” and being the scion of Ninoy and Cory, promising to continue the legacy, is probably a lot better than Noynoy pitting his wits in forums or debates….I hope…
Noynoy’s non-attendance in forums = less talk = less mistakes…less lip service, less promises, just an assurance that he will work for what is needed…no razzle dazzle of debating prowess or witty remarks…an anti politician politician…
Anna:
I fully understand where you’re coming from. My point is, why are they trying to make it appear that Aquino is trying to duck these forums because he doesn’t know about foreign policy? C’mon! What are they? Psychics? Why the insinuation? It’s as if Aquino is expected to attend all these forums sponsored by such and such a foundation in partnership with foreign this and foreign that! Bull! Do u really expect this particular forum to see the front pages of these foreign corespondents papers abroad? The type of questions were already asked in previous forums for all we know. Why this fixation on this particular forum? Sabi nga ni Rose, ordinary folks couldn’t care less about foreign policy! The issue closer at home is about government corruption! Eradicate this and other countries will have a kinder image than what they have of our country and its leaders right now. Gibo, Gordon and Villar can shout themselves hoarse that they are the best prepared and the best debaters until they’re blue in the face for all I care but they still won’t win! The issue in this election has long been determined. It’s not gravitas, it’s not knowledge of the law, it’s not business savvy. It’s about corruption. Now, let me ask. Among the frontrunners, who do u think has the least connection with Gloria and her rapacious cabal? Is it any wonder then that 40 plus per cent of the voting populace would cast their lot with Aquino who his critics say is everything his ‘distinguished’ adversaries are not? So, how do u explain the numbers? Why can’t people trust them? How do u solve a problem like Aquino? Blame the voters? Blame the lawyers! They made it easy for Gloria to have her way with the law. . .
…I wouldn’t show the gun toting videos though, as the guy’s facial expression when excited is the perfect picture of a downs syndrome special child – a very disturbing image of a presidentiable…stick to the strong, silent, hard working, reliable, approachable, boy-next-door type…
Under normal situations, I would have agreed that qualifications of the candidates would have been the paramount consideration in choosing our leaders. But we are not in normal times. Pandak and her ilk have so devastated everything in their path that we are left gasping for breath and people clamoring for respite. Look at Obama. Why did the American people choose a black neophyte senator with no impressive legislative accomplishment? Audacity of Hope? You bet! George Bush so battered the American economy and the American image overseas that the American people wouldn’t vote for anyone even remotely connected with Bush and cast their luck with Obama instead. His detractors can criticize all they like. They are not President. He is. Same with Aquino. His critics are entitled to say anything they want. Par for the course. . .You win some. . .You lose sum. . .he won’t lose sleep over it. . .
Looking at Noynoy through traditional politics’ templates will end in disappointment…Lets face it, he’s just a guy we asked to run for president because the alternatives would mean a fate worse than death for the Philippines. Personally I don’t really like Noynoy, then again, so what? Lets look at it from another angle, he won’t be much of a strong, dominating leader type, probably not as visible micromanager as Arroyo…we’ll have less government but more people and private enterprise initiatiative as we could finally realize that we can’t expect the government to give us a living, probably even lesser corruption, lesser greedy people in power?…I hope…
some. . utak sugarol. .putik. . .lol
Jug;
Agree with your observation. That is how democracy should really work. People are free to determine their course of destiny. Government is there just to provide the blue print and a level playing field devoid of booby traps.
Look at Obama. Why did the American people choose a black neophyte senator with no impressive legislative accomplishment? Audacity of Hope? You bet! — henry90

Noynoy was a Congressman for 9 YEARS (1998 – 2007) and authored about 5 House Bills, NONE was passed into law.
He serving as Senator from 2007 to present, his only accomplishment is RENAMING STREETS made into law.
——x—–
Barrack Obama was a member of Illinois Senate( 1997 – 2004)
and US Senate ( 2005 – 2008).
In the year 2003, he passed legislation to expand healthcare coverage to 70,000 children making Kidcare, state Childrens Health insurance program, permanent. The legislation also extended health insurance to uninsured parents, which added up to additional 84,000 parents. After he found there were 13 innocent death row inmates, Barrack saw to it that death penalty reforms were changed. Also, Illinois became the first state where videotaping an interrogation became mandatory. Even Law enforcement agreed that recording questioning would help the prosecutions chances. As the Chairman of Illinois Senates Health and Human Services Committee, Barack Obama unanimously led a legislation to be passed on racial profiling by the police, which means maintaining records of the race, age and gender of the drivers detained. For low income families, Obama created Illinois Earned Income tax credit which offered tax relief.
Obama made efforts to correct the disparity that existed in the state of Illinois where veterans were receiving less disability benefits as compared to other states. As a result more disability claims specialists were hired for the regional office in Chicago and claims of veterans were re-examined. Education was his top priority during his Senate years. He passed a legislation to carry summer education programs which emphasize mathematics and problem solving skills. He worked on to get black colleges eligible for grant money.
As a member of minority party in 109th congress, Barack created legislation to control conventional weapon and nuclear material smuggling. It became a law in 2007. Along with Senator Tom Coburn, Barack Obama passed a law to bring more transparency in the system.
He passed legislation where he demanded that gas stations be given tax credits who have installed E85 ethanol refueling pumps.
Barack Obama has worked for the last twenty years as a community organizer, a civil rights attorney, a constitutional law professor, a Sate Senator and then U.S. Senator.
http://barackobamabiography.org/
What is “Audacity of Hope” all about?
A “political biography that concentrates on the senator’s core values,” according to the Chicago Tribune,[5] The New York Times noted that “Mr. Obama’s new book, ‘The Audacity of Hope’ … is much more of a political document. Portions of the volume read like outtakes from a stump speech, and the bulk of it is devoted to laying out Mr. Obama’s policy positions on a host of issues, from education to health care to the war in Iraq”.[1]

So, what is the position of Noynoy or his platform?
Why Noynoy does not want to talk? Noynoy just want to talk to himself in the corner facing kubeta.
George Bush so battered the American economy and the American image overseas that the American people wouldn’t vote for anyone even remotely connected with Bush and cast their luck with Obama instead. — henry90

Just look at the people around Noynoy, they are the same self righteous yellow people who grabbed power from a constitutionally elected President Estrada.
American people voted for Obama because of his campaign motto which is “Change.” They are sick of Bush. How can there be “Change” here in Pinas when the same self righteous yellows are running the show.
Worst, Noynoy himself is a thief together with his mother. Do you expect “CHANGE” from thieves themselves?
When Americans voted in the past USA presidential elections, Barack Obama was NOT an unknown, the Americans knew what Barack Obama says he intends to accomplish in his first years in office. Above all, he said he was going to get American troops out of Iraq. NoyNoy says he will ???????
Barack Obama said that he will raise taxes on those making over $250,000 A YEAR. NoyNoy says he will ???????
Barack Obama — Democrat — says he will institute tighter regulations over the insurance and banking industries. NoyNoy says he will ??????
Barack Obama described his plans for job-creation in Detroit and in main street USA. NoyNoy says he will ????
NoyNoy Aquino is a blur — no promises made, no promises to keep. No comment, no mistake. LABAN!!!!!
Cory Aquino is well respected by many Filipinos for her contribution to real freedom in our country, as well as, other parts of this world. She’s not perfect but tried her best to make a difference and no way near being a thief as you suggested!
Speaking of real freedom:
Yeah right, they have the real freedom of the Kamaganak Inc. to dip their hands in every cookie jar they can hold onto.
Real freedom to give back Meralco to the Lopezes for nothing, not even for a song.
Real freedom to circumvent the Agrarian reform law to save HL from being “reformed”.
Real freedom to massacre and be massacred.
Real freedom to violate the constitution.
“Heck, even his mother, Cory Aquino, was found, in her early days in Malacañang, to have deposited in her personal account, a check meant for the National Treasury.”

Xman and Florry…
All I’m saying is the woman is resting in peace. Di ba kayo namatayan in your lives?
kung totoong mahusay si Obama..bakit bumababa ang kanyang rating? totoong he is putting changes..binawasan niya ang Social Security benefits ng mga Senior Citizens..pinipiga niya ang mga Senior Citizens sa health care benefits..pro abortion siya..sa mga Christiano particularly the catholics abortion is murder…could this be what “population control is for him?”? Right of Choice? Who created Adam and Eve..Ang sabi sa Bible..God did! bakit may it is the woman’s right? God created a man and woman, bakit ngayon mayroong “gay”…hindi ko tunay maintindihan…I am just an ordinary person….si Obama nga pala “Harvardian”..so is Gibo..
It’s not about disrespecting the dead. It’s about truth. The real freedom is to expose the truth whoever gets hurt, dead or alive.
Cory, now dead, has been out of the presidency since 1992. Cite one criminal case filed against her while in office or any congressional hearing about graft and corruption. Have you heard of any cases filed against her after she left office when she no longer has presidential immunity? Why didn’t they file cases relating to Mendiola and Luisita massacres against her? Can’t prove anything except rumors and tsismis? Compare this with the corruption scandals in the Ramos, Erap and Pandak presidency, all of which were investigated by Congress. Was Noynoy ever investigated before in connection with any case BEFORE he filed his candidacy for President?
So, who’s afraid of forums? Live na nakikinig from overseas through live streaming!
This certainly debunks rumors that Aquino shuns forums. Sa lahat na nasa ibang bansa, listen the on line streaming of DZBB for the presidential forum. . .
Worst, Noynoy himself is a thief together with his mother. Do you expect “CHANGE” from thieves themselves?
——————————
So you would prefer Villar then? or Gordon? or Gibo?
Given the choices we have who is the logical one? By elimination, we don’t have anyone else. So we’ll just have no elecions then and stick with Gloria for the time being?
And whats wrong with returning a company to its rightful owners? If we like a scenario where the government can take away what we worked do hard to build, what kind of future do we have for private enterprise?
Lets stop belaboring rich people for a while and focus on becoming rich ourselves instead of giving in to envy and bitterness. All of us are given the same 24 hours in a day, brains, hands, feet, etc., its just a matter of who is more motivated than most…
The presidency is not the panacea to all our problems, from what I see its our apathy. We complain about Gloria but we have not done anything about it. Now we have a chance to change the scenario, we still don’t like it…Noynoy is not even an issue anymore for me, because even if he becomes president he can’t make unilateral decisions anyway…at least we take out a fake president and replace her with someone the “people” really chose, then we take it from there…

..you can learn and do more by listening than talking..

kaya para sa akin…it is better to watch and listen and do what is right…
para sa akin…a righteous man who believes, trust and is faithful to God, who follows His commandments is all we need to fix our country…mayroon ba sa Presidentiables…wala pero who is the lesser evil? it is ours to grab…Look! Watch and Listen….Come Bantay Come..Pepe and Pilar yan….hindi Shakespeare!
. .Si Erap lang ang di sumali no? Sax, take note of the time. . .si Erap lang ang di pa gising! Baka may hang over pa kaya di sumali sa maagang forum na ginanap sa De La Salle Zobel sa Ayala, Alabang. . . lol
Can you provide a link henry?
Isa lang ang nakita ko, the ANC debate, hosted by Ted Failon. Nandoon lahat, including Erap. Note Ted’s greeting – “Magandang gabi Pilipinas”.
Anu iyong sinabi ni NoyNoy — wala naman palang kaibahan sa patakbo ni GMA sa plano ni NoyNoy about farming and rice-policies. Also about eVAT.
Anu iyong sinabi ni NoyNoy — walang kaibahan sa patakbo ni GMA ang plano ni NoyNoy about farming and rice-policies. Also about eVAT.
Sorry Sax. Walang link yun. Live all over the Pinas yun sa DZBB, a local radio of GMA 7 which was streamed live online. Si Erap siguro may hang over. . .may kasunod pa yun. . .different venues, different questions fielded by the audience themselves. Walang advance preparations. Much better di ba?
Nakita ko na. Ginawa ng De La Salle sa Alabang. Lugar ng mayaman (old rich or biglang yaman).
Fair enough. . . As i’ve said earlier, it won’t be the last of these forums. . .magsasawa mga tao dyan. . .it’s not true then that they are shunning these forums. . .people are sometimes just too quick to insinuate when a candidate absents himself in one forum. . .case closed. . .
there’s an upcoming VP forum i believe. kelangan din natin sigurong bigyang pansin ito. ang mga taoing ito ang mamumuno sa atin kapag may nangyari sa susunod na prsidente
Somebody should suggest to Noynoy that he should hire a double to portray an image of him as a strong, hard-working and reliable boy-next-door persona. That is to keep the facial expression as an excited child with “downs syndrome” be hidden from the public. Making him play the role is so easy to conclude as fakery. The role is for a seasoned actor and for him to do the part is not advisable because he will not be able to contain it. It is his personality.
It’s just too bad that original Noynoy can not be “photoshopped” to make him appear as a strong, hard-working presidential material as some wished him to be.
Somebody should suggest to Noynoy that he should hire a double to portray an image of him as a strong, hard-working and reliable boy-next-door persona.
Hahahahahhah!
its correct for Noynoy not to attend, because important questions of whether they would pursue the criminal cases to be filed against gma or not was not included in the questions to be asked. the main problem of phil at present is the massive corruption and grave moral decay wherein the goods were punished and harassed while criminals were rewarded, this kind of society will lead to chaos and breakdown sooner or later. only a new president with the moral character of Noynoy will reverse the evil trend and bring back our nation to the right path towards good governance
empty rhetorics and campaign promises are worthless and now used to continue fooling gullible Filipinos, people are tired of lies, lies and more lies.
Noynoy bashers are a sorry lot. . .After proven wrong about the rumors of his non-appearance in forums, they are are again nit-picking on his physical appearance. . .losers. . .
Mukhang lalong aatras si Noynoy from attending more forum.
Here is another blogger’s comments.
http://simpliving.blogspot.com/2010/01/noynoy-to-lose-more-of-lead-in-surveys.html
We are not bashers of Noynoy but a truth seeker, what is the TRUTH about Noynoy? The answer is he is a certified thief and a certified incompetent “special child”.
As I stated in the above statements:
Noynoy was a Congressman for 9 YEARS (1998 – 2007) and authored about 5 House Bills, NONE was passed into law.
He serving as Senator from 2007 to present, his only accomplishment is RENAMING STREETS made into law.
What do you call someone who did not accomplishment anything during his public office years? A certified incompetent special child.
Noynoy spent NINE YEARS as Congressman in his district receiving pork barrels at 70 Million pesos per year. That’s about 630 Million pesos in nine years? What did he do with it? What do you call someone who did nothing on 630 Million pesos pork barrels and put it in his special pocket? The answer is a THIEF or a special child thief.
Noynoy is not even fit to be a barangay captain. Well, a special child barangay captain might do.
“How is Tarlac?
Gordon had claimed that the Aquino family was given opportunities to make the nation great but “regrettably failed to deliver.”
“How many more chances do you want? What is Noynoy Aquino’s ability in local government? He hasn’t been tested even as a barangay captain. Even in legislature, what law did he craft whose benefits are being felt by the people?” Gordon had said.
He had added that Aquino “had in [his] family a president, a vice president, four senators, congressmen, governors—all the posts in Tarlac, but how is Tarlac?””
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view/20100110-246465/Rivals-taunt-Aquino-What-have-you-done-in-the-past
O nasaan si Erap mo? Bakit tahimik?
As I said, if we look at Noynoy through traditional politicians’ templates, we will never like him. If we look at achievements alone, we’re better off sticking with Gloria Arroyo, as her report card (SONAs) are glaring recorded landmark achievements!
If we are looking for someone who can get things done in the context of Philippine politics, lets have De Venecia back, or we can just look at all the Arroyo allies who got big pork barrels.
Getting things done here means compromise, wheeling and dealing, payoffs, etc. Gordon is the best example of tradpol there is, he can wheel and deal, compromise, talk your pants off (and ears), then again, do we still want these people still?
All Noynoy will have to show for himself is that he has no track record of “wheeling and dealing, compromise, payoffs, etc.” and his family has no record of “stealing” basically, he has nothing going for him except CHARACTER, which no one elsd in the presidentiable list has.
Maybe its time to have a paradigm shift in terms of the way we look at and choose leaders? At any rate, we need a transition leader asap just to cut clean from Arroyo politics, and this is our chance, then we work on from there. We have to do something drastic (but legal) inorder to at least start some changes, nothing can be done as long as Arroyo and her cabal are still in power as they dominate our institutions. Where do we start? The logical move will be to cut off its head and putting Noynoy in isn’t too bad.
The guy has never lusted for such power or riches, if we left him alone, he could even have had a better/quieter life away from the stress of politics. Villar/Gordon, etc., these guys have an obvious obsession with becoming masters for the universe and have shown that they will do inorder to get there…
…food for thought…
There is an article in today’s Inquirer where NoyNoy gives answers to people questioning his leadership and managerial abilities. NoyNoy says he can lead.
Between Villar and Aquino, I will go for Aquino…
The former has a record of major fraud, robbery, lyings, kowtowing to Joma’s red brigade (just like Gloria — tapos, he will make traydor to them), etc etc. Simply put, he’s a daylight highway robber…
The latter [Aquino] merely has a shallow Senate record — and I don’t mind that, after all, the Senate is one useless institution that can boast of nothing except being a place for shitheads to grandstand… that Aquino has decided not to grandstand in a futile assembly of dickheads should not be taken against him.
Here, Henry… Lighten up. Here’s a film about Noynoy Aquino. (Watch it to the finish…)
Aquino, Henry’s Hero!
…we need a transition leader asap just to cut clean from Arroyo politics, and this is our chance, then we work on from there. -jug
Agree 100%,jug.
Agree with Jug too, Chi… what he says makes sense.
Sadly, there’s not one among the presidential canidates who epitomises the ideal president.
And so, we as voters are saddled with a huge problem, i.e., to choose from among presidentiables who are not fit to be president. But that’s politics.
And because we are in [the Philippines] a less than ideal world, we have no choice but to vote for the lesser of two evils or the better of the two unsuitable candidates on offer… Gloria’s would be despicable legacy has left us with a dilemma of the most cruel proportions…
Anna and Chi:
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, let me stress that I have no problem with the other guys here rooting for another candidate of their choice. That’s perfectly understandable. My only beef though is that sometimes, their criticisms are not grounded on well-established facts but on the say-so of such and such columnists whose opinions are well, their own opinions. Though I am not in the least surprised, wouldn’t it be better if the hysterics are toned down in the discussions rather than needling the candidate solely on his physical attributes or the seeming lack of them? While this is par for the course, it obviously betrays the detractors’ lack of cerebral issues against a particular candidate just to pull down his numbers. Whoever is your choice, I respect it and I expect u to defend him passionately as I do in the case of Aquino. If others can’t help bashing him needlessly, I’ll gladly return the favor anytime. . .hehehehe
From Magno Redondo:
I’m an apolitical person, but I am terribly disturbed by three ingenuous spins by the Noynoy Aquino campaign about the incident in August 28, 1987 when he was shot by rebel soldiers:
(1) “He put his life on the line to protect his mother from military rebels that penetrated Malacanang’s security.”
(2) “He got shot in the neck protecting democracy.”
(3) “Noynoy saved the nation that day.”
In support of his presidential bid, Noynoy Aquino has posted these blatant fabrications on his official website and is allowing his supporters to circulate it on the web. What does that say about his self-proclaimed incapability to lie?
What’s the truth about that shooting?
Here’s part of the report of that incident by Seth Mydans for The New York Times on August 30, 1987, headlined “Aquino’s Son Says Rebels Opened Fire as He Spoke”:
“Today, his left arm in a sling and his neck bandaged, Mr. Aquino told of pleading for his life as a soldier decided whether to shoot him again.
“Mr. Aquino said he had gone out late to ‘attend to a personal problem’ across town, accompanied by bodyguards in his own and a second car.
“He said he had discounted rumors of a military attack, thinking they might be another ‘zarzuela,’ or comedy, like previous coup threats. But when word came that firing had begun, he rushed home because ‘my instict [sic] was to help my family.’
“Shielded by Bodyguard
“When the soldiers opened fire on his car, he said, a bodyguard on the seat beside him, Joseph Galleta, ‘managed to pull me down and shielded me with his body.’
“In a second burst of fire, he said, Mr. Galleta was seriously wounded and thrown from the car.
“‘I believe the rebels wanted to be sure we were killed,’ Mr. Aquino said. ‘Someone approached me and wanted to use his M-16. I pleaded with him and tried to reason it out with him and everything and he hestitated [sic].’
“As the soldier hesitated, Mr. Aquino said, he prayed. ‘I was doing my act of contrition and all that. I was asking for more time because I didn’t want to die like that.’”
Need anything more be said?
Thank you Ellen for letting the TRUTH out.
Now, what can Cory’s PSG can say about that? Cory’s PSG was peddling these lies to the hilt about Noynoy’s heroic stand during the ambush of rebel soldiers.
Noynoy is not only LA LAMYA LAMYA but a special child LIAR.
The rebel soldiers spared Noynoy’s life because they realized that they are dealing with a special child begging for his life.
Readers of this blog are not stupid. They can tell if your postings are just plain WORDY BULL.
TRUTH is life.
The rebel soldiers spared Noynoy’s life because they realized that they are dealing with a special child begging for his life. – x-man
—————————–
I don’t know whether to brand you an idiot or just plain high on something? Maybe so many people have used the word “rebel” too much that its become a good word already?
Those “rebel” soldiers are the enemy of the state and of the people at the time, get your head on straight.
…whats wrong with begging for your life at gunpoint, wouldn’t you? And they were ambushed for Pete’s sake, walang magaling na lalaki dyan, even the best soldiers can fall that way…
Hey, Noynoy looks palamyalamya, I agree…then again, I was just judging his appearance, I don’t know him personally…I don’t like him, but after listening to myself sounding pettier everytime I realized I was sounding like an idiot too…one thing I always do, learn from my mistakes, I make a lot of them, but thank God I look at the mirror from time to time…
There are worst things a man can do, begging for one’s life at gunpoint is the least of them…if you should condemn someone, it should be those rebel soldiers, and the ones who ordered them to do it…
All Noynoy has to do is be himself, let Gordon, Gibo, Villar do their song and dance – their past actions are more articulate than their glib tongues…
Another wordy bull
Cory’s PSG, I am waiting for your response. I am not interested to talk to Mr. Wordy Bull.
. .hehe
Well put, jug.
The point here is not about begging for his life. It is about what he posted in his website
as mention above:
(1) “He put his life on the line to protect his mother from military rebels that penetrated Malacanang’s security.”
(2) “He got shot in the neck protecting democracy.”
(3) “Noynoy saved the nation that day.”
It sounds like a bare-faced lie and only Noynoy and nobody else not just anybody who will prove otherwise, or else he will be exposed not only a liar but an ultimate manipulator.

You wish. .dream on. . . . . .maglalabas lang ng balita New York Times pa ginamit. Para kunwari, may semblance of credibility. .
“Benigno S. Aquino 3d, known as Noynoy, was one of hundreds of civilians killed and wounded in fighting between mutineers and Government trooops that lasted from shortly before his arrival home until late that night. ”
Hundreds killed or wounded in Aug 87 coup(tawag dun God Save the Queen). Ows? Talaga? Hundreds ang namatay at nasugatan? Mas marami pa sa Dec 89 coup? Peks man? hehehe
. .may dagdag-bawas na yan. . .walang pinagkaiba yan dito sa dyaryo sa Pinas. . .lalo na yung peyborit mong Tribute. . .lol
Yes, all Noynoy has to do is to be himself. He doesn’t have to be portrayed as the strong hard-working boy next door image.
OK, Character, what is that something special character about Noynoy? That he said so, that he is good and all the others are evil? Maybe elaboration is needed.
Hope, What kind of hope Noynoy is offering the people, to win the lotto?
Noynoy is offering himself to lead the people in other words he is applying for the job, and we the people as the prospective employer can demand from him to submit his resume and in there he should specify what are his plans and what he intends to do for the people and for the country in the next six years; he should bare his team whether they are previous members of gloria like the Hyatt ten, or Mr. Evat Recto, Mr. Noted Pangilinan-Cuneta, Drilon or from the Palaka; he should also bare who are his relatives still in the barn of gloria, like Peping and Tingting, Paul and Lupita; he should be clear about his foreign policy in this time of globalization, what he will do with the OFWs, his ideas on climate change and environment, world trade and many others.
I don’t mind whoever wins in a clean election and as he is the one leading in surveys, we as employers have the right to demand all of this from him. Sadly though, nothing in the form of any platform has been presented by him. We the people as the employer can not just rely on whatever character he is supposed to possess, or whatever kind of hope he is offering us.
Nothing beats a form in black and white.
Platform? Eto o. Kinopya ko uli sa itaas banda na post ko only for u Florry. . .baka makumbinsi ka pa e. . .hehe:

This is taken from Noynoy’s website:
From the Archives: Noynoy Aquino saved the nation, 1987
NOYNOY AQUINO SAVED THE NATION, OH QUESTIONS LEFT UNANSWERED!
From Hilarion Henares Jr’s column Make My Day
on the Philippine Daily Inquirer, August 31 1987
What was Noynoy Aquino doing outside at 1:30AM, when everyone else was asleep last Friday? A date with a girlfriend, a party, a night club caper?
No matter. He saved the nation, this Noynoy.
Up to the time he was accosted by rebel soldier in front of the St Jude Church, everything seemed normal, and the surprise attack was going on smoothly.
When he identified himself, the rebels opened fire, and that woke up Cory and tipped off the Presidential Security Forces.
Without him, the rebel forces would have surprised the Palace Guards and might have captured Malacanang ang Cory at her residence.
Cory is right, this was a Ngo Dinh Diem (or Salvador Allende) operation that was meant to kill her and her family. Otherwise the rebels would have never fired on Noynoy…but they did and luckily showed their hand.
Without the surprise factor, the Palaca guards readily dispersed the rebel attackers and forced them to go to Camp Aguinaldo.
The tide eventually turned. But can you just imagine what could have happened if one rebel with a hand grenade penetrated the President’s bedroom? Or captured the Aquino family and forced Cory with a gun at Kris’s head to announce their takeover of the nation?
http://www.noynoy.ph/blog/2009/12/17/from-the-archives-noynoy-aquino-saved-the-nation-1987/#more-899
Cory’s PSG, noong panahon ni Cory ay supported sya ng US government at US media.
Cory’s PSG, what some bloggers say about Noynoy pointing 9mm pistol to the protesters during the Hacienda Luisita tradegy.
Miguel Ang says,
Saved the nation? What’s the connection between identifying himself then and the salvation of the nation? If Cory was killed together with her whole family, would that really thwart the nation? Was her administration efficient enough to count her death a great loss?
How did that Noynoy saved the nation again?
“Though Noynoy was armed with a 9mm pistol, he chose not to fire back.”
ARE YOU SURE? WERE YOU THERE? OR JUST BECAUSE HE SAID SO?
How about the news when he pointed his 9mm pistol to the protesters during the Hacienda Luicita tragedy? He did not opt to fire back against people assaulting him with gunshots but he was ready to kill defenseless protesters who were just voicing out their concerns?
IS THAT SOMETHING YOU CONSIDER HEROIC?
And yes, I was there when he pointed the gun towards the protesters.
Maaring US government pwede. Pero US media?
Complementary news article on the Philippine Daily Inquirer, August 30 1987:
A son’s “instinctive reaction” to rush to his besieged mother led Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III right into a rebels’ ambush.
Noynoy, his left arm on a sling, met reporters yesterday to deny rumors that he was seriously injured during Friday’s dawn attack on Malacanang Palace by two busloads of rebel soldiers.
President Aquino’s only son said he was at the Dasmarinas Village residence of Executive Secretary Joker Arroyo past midnight when he heard radio reports that Malacanang, along with other government installations, was under attack.
…
He said he saw rebel soldiers positioned on the streetbend near St Jude’s Church, a stone’s throw from the Arlegui house. They were lying prone in an ambush position on both sides of the road, facing Sta Mesa Rotunda instead of the palace.
He said he slowed down as the rebel soldiers signaled them to stop but then there were other contradictory orders, Noynoy said.
He heard one say, “Balik ka sa kotse.” while the others shouted, “Dapa, dapa sa kalye.”
“We failed to respond primarily because they had what looked like a tank beside them. This was also another indication to me that they were friendly forces,” he said.
As he stopped, he said he tried to reason out with them. “I identified myself and everything but they still fired at us.”
He said he and his bodyguard were hit in the first volley.
He was nicked in theleft arm and hit by a piece of slug below his left ear.
Though Noynoy was armed with a 9mm pistol, he chose not to fire back.

Langya ka Xman. .
Chi, agree with Jug too.
While I am not exactly enamoured of Aquino [the son], I wouldn’t take it against him if he indeed begged for his life during those terse moments (and I thank God, I never had nor hope to go through that experience.)
It’s human to react that way and anyone who says that a person is duwag because he/she begged for his/her life to be spared while a gun is pointed at his temple, is not being realistic.
One thing that we must be very clear about is that those troops who attacked Malacanang to kill Cory and her family were enemies of the state as Jug pointed out. Cory’s presidency was legal…
(I’m trying to be as objective as I can — reflecting only on points raised against Aquino the son that I believe should be put in proper perspective… I’m not at all a great admirer of Cory’s presidency — there were pluses and minuses as ever but that’s another story. And as most old time bloggers here know, I vehemently, virulently denounced her participation in the coup d’état that led to the toppling of a duly elected president of the republic.)
We have to do something drastic (but legal) inorder to at least start some changes, nothing can be done as long as Arroyo and her cabal are still in power as they dominate our institutions. Where do we start? The logical move will be to cut off its head and putting Noynoy in isn’t too bad. – juggernaut – January 11, 2010 1:28 pm

Agree with you jug. In my view, Noynoy and LP has no problem convincing those who had been or had experience the real peoples power 1986, the previous young ones. They know what it is in reality with similarity problems we have now! What they (Noynoy and LP) needs to concern themselves are those young voters who have no real understanding on what and who to vote for affecting their future and there are MANY in cyberspace! A lot less of Erap’s masa also commands a big vote currently looking for someone to stand by them.
To make what you said a reality, Noynoy young organizers, framers and voters, who understand what it is where voting for needs to be very visible and start participating in this exercise! On the ground and in cyberspace! (just an unsolicited suggestion!)

Here is the history of the Inquirer.
http://www.inquirer.com.ph/history.asp
The history shows that it was supportive of Mrs. Aquino in the snap elections, and even invited President Aquino to the inauguration of its new offices.
I remember the first few issues were about the Galman-Aquino murders, and the newspaper looked like a tabloid, because it was less than ten pages.
