Samahang Magdalo will support the presidential bid of Sen. Francis Escudero.
This was announced this morning by Magdalo Party Secretary General Francisco Ashley Acedillo after the first Magdalo national convention held at the UP hostel.
Sino kaya ang susuportahan ng Samahang Magdalo para presidente? Siyempre oposisyun ang kanilang pagpipilian. Hindi naman pwedeng ang kandidato ni Gloria Arroyo na si Gilbert Teodoro.
Mamimili sila kay Chiz Escudero, Noynoy Aquino, at Manny Villar.
Sa aking pag-uusap sa karamihan sa kanila, ang pinagpipilian ay sa pagitan ni Chiz at ni Noynoy. Basa ko mas kiling sila kay Chiz dahil sa kanyang kongkretong programa sa pagreporma ng pagpatakbo ng pamahalaan.
Sa umaga ng Oct. 25 (Linggo), ipahayag ng Samahang Magdalo ang kanila susuportahan na kandidato sa pagkapresidente sa kanilang kauna-unahang convention na gaganapin sa University of the Philippines Hotel.
Sabi ni Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Magdalo party chairman, na hanggang ngayon ay nakakulong, ang kanilang desisyon ay resulta ng pangkalahatang desisyun na nakabase sa pagkatugma sa kanila ring programa ng pagbabago para sa kabutihan ng taumbayan.
Ang dating grupo ng mga batang opisyal sa military ay binuksan para sa mga sibilyan at umaabot na ngayon ang kanilang mga miyembro sa 20,000 sa buong bansa.Hinihintay nila ang approval ng Comelec sa kanilang application bilang party list group.
Apat sa mga Magdalo na opisyal ang tatakbo sa iba’t-ibang posisyun sa darating na eleksyun: si dating Air Force Lieutenant Francisco Ashley Acedillo, national spokesman ng Magdalo, at tatakbo para congressman ng first district ng Cebu City; si former Lt. Senior Grade James Layug ay tatakbo naman bilang congressman ng Taguig at si Captain Dante Langkit ay sa Kalinga.
Si Capt. Gary Alejano naman ay tatakbo bilang mayor sa Sipalay, Negros Occidental.
Susuportahan ng Magdalo ang kandidatura para senador nina Brig.Gen. Danilo Lim and Marine Col. Ariel Querubin. Hindi obligado sina Lim at Querubin na sundin ang desisyon ng Magdalo.
Kung tutuloy si Chiz, bet ko ang Magdalo is for him. If not, no choice din sila but Nwoy. Malabo na suportahan nila si Villar dahil sa tainted masyado na si Mr. C-5 Taga and I don’t think na ang simulain at objectives/goals nila ay pareho ng sa richest Pinas senator.
Ano ba ang pagkaka-iba ng RAM sa Magdalo? sa pakiki-lahok ng RAM sa mala-karnabal na prosesong elektoral, noong katanyagan nito, ang iilang PROMINENTENG LIDER ng RAM ay unti-unti at tahasang nilamon nang sa pagiging TRAPO, na ang Magdalo ay ganun rin ang patutunguhan at kasasapitan nito.
Si Chiz, hindi ko nakikitang tataliwas sa kontrol ng NPC (PARTIDO), at sa dikta ni Danding.
Si Noy, may kakayahan ba itong ipatupad ang repormang agrayo sa kanilang Hacienda Luisita, o dili’y kaya, ipagtuloy niya ang tunay na laban ni Ninoy, na walang dikta ng mga pamilyang Cojuangco?
Mas makakabuti para sa Magdalo at para sa bayan, na ang MAGDALO ay huwag nang mag-endorso ng kandidato para sa pangulo, dahil kung ito’y ipapatupad nila, ang diwa’t sa pagpapatuloy ng Dakilang Rebolusyong 1896 na siyang adhikain ng MAGDALO ay isang panaginip na lamang.
“Ang prosesong elektoral sa pilipinas ay kahalintulad sa isang kural ng mga baboy, kung sinuman ang nagnanais na baguhin ang kinagisang kultura’t kalarakan, dapat siyang pumaloob sa kural at mangisabsab sa lapangan ng baboy, datapuwa’t hindi dapat siya magpakababoy. Sa ganun masidhing intensyon na hindi maging ganap na baboy, unti-unti niyang itinataboy ang mga lehitimong baboy sa kural, pagkaraka, ang kural ay muling bubuhayin bilang bahay nina luz, vi at minda.”
Masmabuti kung neutral stance ang Samahang Magdalo para sa pagkapangulo. Si Gen. Danny Lim nasa partido ni Erap-Binay. Samantalang si Col. Ariel Querubin ay nasa partido ni Villar. Talagang magulo ang pulitika.
Again, it is easy for all of us to pre-judge these idealistic soldiers. Kung meron lang pera at tunay na organization ang mga sundalong ito, I bet they will not affiliate with anyone of these presidentiables. But the reality is, they are just a new group. They need structure. They need to reach all the people (from A to Z). I can not blame them if they will seek to affiliate with a party who can help them with their goal. Nonoy is backed by the big business people and the rich (whenever I say “elite”, I get stoned). Chiz, although he is young and idealistic just like them and has not enriched himself as of yet, still has to cling to Cojuangco for financing. If they affiliate with Nwoy or Chiz, they are saying, ok lang ang mga mayayaman na maging hari ng bayan.
As of now, personally, I would just be content that Lim and Querubin have affiliated with the “opposition” parties. Ideally, these two should run together but maybe they are too “heavy” to carry together. Parehong mga walang pera ang dalawang ito. Let us face it, they need a party to help them win.
They are better off being themselves (the remaining Magdalos) and those who are running for an office affiliate with whomever they think can help them. Suportahan at igalang na lang nila ang mga desisyon ng mga ito. The group does not need to endorse a specific party as their affiliated officers who are running are already aligned with different parties anyway. Keep the rainbow coalition for now.
In the future, as more of their members are elected into office, they should start bullding up their national leaders. They will be a group to contend with in the 2013 and 2016 elections. All of the incarcerated officers will all be out of incarceration by then, hopefully. Idealism is too far from reality! Kung gusto nilang magsilbi, they have to go through the path that is known to the people. Kapag nandun na sila sa kanilang mga pwesto, we can then judge them.

Tama ka sa yong pananaw. If I were the others, i would stop calling other people “elite”. Parang stereotyping kasi e. Instead na nakakatulong pagbuklurin ang ating lipunan, parang pinapalaki lang lalo ang hidwaan. Dont get me wrong. It’s just that the term ‘elite’ is being used loosely to paint yung nasa middle income at pataas na mga elitista. I just dont get it. Kahit nang nasa serbisyo pa ako parang allergic din ako sa mga elite-elite na term na yan. Na kesyo pag PMAer ka, u graduated from an elite academy. Na pag scout ranger ka, elite army soldier ka. Kahit sa marines, da elite soldiers sa afp, meron pa ring mas elite. Yung mga force recon marines. I can cite other examples and so on and so forth. My point is, elite na sundalo ka man o hindi, tinatablan ka pa rin ng bala. Ganun din siguro sa political spectrum. Siguro dapat ng tigilan ng mga political scientists ang stereotyping/labeling na to. Lalo lang kasi tayong pinagsasabong ba, kaya there is that great divide ika nga. Sa mga Magdalo bahala na kayo kung sino gusto nyong iboto but as we have taken our sacred oaths before, labas muna tayo ng serbisyo at saka sumali sa magulong buhay ng politika. Peace mga kapatid.
Henry, I think those running are all resigning from their positions once they file their certificate of candidacy. Those actively in the Magdalo group are those who are already out of incarceration and out of service. Sila yung binigyan ng “deal” ni asspweron. To me, these Magdalos who made a deal with asspweron got the short end of the stick. But they are now actively helping those who are still incarcerated who have ambitions to continue serving the people when elected into office.

Highly unlikely, Fidel Ramos was hero and highly respected by the masses. Gibo Teodoro, despite his impeccable pedigree and outstanding scholastic achievement, is another mediocre government functionary. Gibo is high in IQ low in EQ, that is a real fact.

Magdalo group endorses Escudero’s 2010 presidential bid.
Allan, Danding is bailing out on Escudero and it looks like Legarda is not aligning with him too. Escudero needs more than the Magdalo endorsement. He has to have the organizational and financial backing too as well as a winnable vice. But if Escudero is a real leader, he will go through all these pitfalls and emerge stronger than ever. I wish him well.
