In an article written by Gil Cabacungan, Inquirer reported that Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey Arroyo” yesterday pushed for tighter regulation of the Facebook, the world’s leading social networking site, after he claimed to be a victim of a “malicious attack” by one of its members.
“My picture was posted on Facebook with a caption saying I was shopping for wine at the height of “ondoy”. This is another malicious attack on my person. It is so depressing,” Arroyo wrote in an e-mail response to the Facebook post which has appeared in several blogs.
Arroyo claimed he was in Malacañang last Saturday and that it was difficult to cross Katipunan from the village where he lives because of the rising floods. “How could I be at Rustan’s on Katipunan Avenue at the height of Ondoy when Katipunan was impassable at that time? For the record I was in Malañang with my family trying to mobilize rescue and relief operations for people of Metro Manila and for my constituents in my district in Pampanga,” he said.
I first saw the photo with a man that looked like Mikey looking at the liquor section at the convenience store almost midnight of Sunday. My understanding was that it was taken on a Sunday, a day after the great deluge. In reposting the photo, I captioned it, “Where’s Mikey in Ondoy’s aftermath”. .
In the reposting by other bloggers, however, I noticed it was made to appear that the picture was taken last Saturday, at the height of typhoon Ondoy.
SIDE-TOPIC : I saw this in FilipinoVoices. Baka may nangangailangan pa.

Mikey lashes out at Facebook bloggers
The Daily Tribune
09/30/2009
Presidential son and Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo yesterday lashed out at bloggers of a popular Web site who posted his picture describing him as a callous public official busy shopping for alcoholic drinks even at the height of Typhoon “Ondoy’s” wrath last Saturday.
In a text message, the young Arroyo, though not denying it was him on the picture posted at Facebook, said it was rather impossible for him to stop by at Rustan’s Supermarket on Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City last Saturday to pick up some wines as the bloggers suggest as the street was rendered impassable by the floods. “My picture posted at Facebook with a caption saying I was busy shopping for wine at the height of Typhoon Ondoy is another malicious attack at my personality. It is so depressing,” Arroyo said. “How could that be possible that I was at Rustan’s on Katipunan Avenue at the height of Typhoon Ondoy when Katipunan Avenue was impassable at that time?”
The presidential son claimed at the height of the typhoon, he was at Malacañang Saturday with all members of his families helping mobilize rescue and relief operations for areas affected by the storm.
“On record, I was in Malacañang at that time with all my family trying to mobilize rescue and relief operations for people of Metro Manila and for my constituents in my district in Pampanga,” Arroyo said.
“It’s so unfortunate that while we were so busy then trying to help ease the sufferings of our kababayan, some people had the guts and the temerity to peddle malicious innuendos at the expense of others,” he added.
The Pampanag solon suggested instead of resorting to grandstanding gimmickry at his expense, the bloggers should also busy themselves helping their countrymen who are still reeling from the effects of the worst natural calamity the country had experienced in decades.
“Basta ako, I still have so many things to do to help our poor countrymen who were severely affected by Typhoon Ondoy. This is not the time to deal with people who are peddling half-truths and half-lies para lang sumikat.”
While acknowledging that blogging, the latest craze to hit the Internet, is an exercise of freedom of expression, Arroyo said he believes it should still be regulated as it has become more susceptible to abuses by unscrupulous people.
“Nonetheless, I hope that Facebook and other like mediums be regulated so they can never be subjected to abuse by some scrupulous people. Facebook is easily susceptible to abuses as people can easily hide their identities,” he stressed. “Masahol pa sila sa kwentong barbero.” Charlie V. Manalo
mikey,
No matter what you reason out to defend yourself from comments and criticisms, it is not proper for a decent (ka ba?)public official like you tob e seen in places where you are not supposed to.
“Mikey Arroyo finds Facebook posts ‘depressing”
The Filipino people find Mikey Arroyo’s stealing, cheating, lying depressing.
OT:
An article in PDI has the title “‘I’m sorry’ robber arrested in Japan“.
May salpicao style fish (fried with lots of garlic), which Pidol calls prigalo (pritong galunggong).
Baka substituted for Ligo and 555.
Whatever, Saturday or Sunday…Mikey getting paid by the people had no business buying liquor at the time when a public service is a must from a people’s representative like himself.
30 September 2009
First off, please lang, the picture of mikey is really no joke, at this time of a very “depressing” time for our kababayan, it is not right to make fun of a “person”.
Teka, teake! parang hindi tama a. What I meant to say is, stop making fun of person, who is already a joke!,
Yeah, like he’s mother he could be in malacanang helping her inutile mother and hogfaced father. Helping them take care of their loots!
Another thing, why only two months of all their salaries??? they could eat lavishly in New York and Washington, why not these TONGressman and senaTONGs give up their pork barrel to assist our kababayans, after all, pera pa din ni juan delacruz yan e, kaya nga lang inaangkin nila.
Eto namang si leprechaun gloria, you have a big source of funds, but still you don’t want to release it. Instead you are crying for help from other countries.
prans
Talaga, atty sax, and never come back.
Pinakain ng gourmet food ang 620, what happens after…gutom din tulad ng hundreds of thousands na hindi pa dinadatnan ng rescue.
Another spin for world’s consumption eh?!
Mikey pushing for tighter regulation of the Facebook.
Yabang!

Or hie yourself in hell, pronto!
Swak na swak mo, Mike (#7).

Abdollah, pranning, and others.
Take note that I edited your comments and changed sentences all capitalized to small letters.
This is an advice from one who has been in the communication business since time immemorial. Contrary to what you think, sentences that are all in capital letters do not attract readers. It does not made readers read what you have written.
In fact, it turns off readers because it is screaming especially if you put several exclamation marks.
If you want to emphasize, you may make it bold. If you have to capitalize it, talagang bihira, bihira lang.
As I have said time and again, bloggers are intelligent. They will understand your message even if it is in small letters.
For a pleasant blogging. Thank you.
To all bloggers in Ellenville and elsewhere:
