At about 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and his sister Imee, a former congresswoman, arrived at the Manila Cathedral to pay their respects to the icon of democracy.
They were received by Mrs. Aquino’s daughter, Ballsy Aquino Cruz, and grandsons Kiko Dee and Jiggy Cruz.
The Marcos siblings immediately proceeded to the coffin and said prayers, after which they exchanged pleasantries with the Aquinos.
They left the cathedral after about 20 minutes.
The Marcoses repeatedly declined interviews with reporters. Bongbong only said, “We are only here to offer our condolences.”
Mrs. Aquino’s daughter Pinky said, “We’re thankful they made the effort to come… Sincere ang wishes nila, nakaka-touch,”
“The least we can do is mag-thank you sa kanila,” she added.
The crowd inside and outside the cathedral had mixed reactions on seeing the two rival families coming together at a time of grief.
“I wasn’t expecting that the Marcoses would be making true their word to come here… It was really a surprise,” said a female college student inside the cathedral.
“Nakakagulat lang ang isang kilalalang kaaway ng pamilya Aquino ay talagang maglalakas loob na pumunta dito at makiramay… I don’t know how I would feel if the same happens to me,” said an employee in one of the offices in Intramuros, who identified himself as “Nash.”
“I think, it is about time (for the two families to make peace)… it is a good sign for unity and we hope that it will be duplicated across the country,” said a nun who was in the queue of people.
Mrs. Aquino’s husband Ninoy was shot at the tarmac in 1983 upon his return from the United States. The killing is being blamed on then President Ferdinand Marcos.
Ninoy was the most vocal critic of the Marcos administration when it started its first term in 1965. Mrs. Aquino was the icon of the “people power” revolution that ousted Marcos in 1986.
The Marcos family was among the first to send their condolences when Mrs. Aquino succumbed to colon cancer on August 1.
The Aquino family immediately acknowledged the Marcoses’ statement, thanking them for their sincerity in offering their prayers.
I’m glad that the younger Marcoses are sensitive to decline media interviews. They know where they stand at those emotional and tense moments. Walang kasalanan ang mga anak ng magkabilang panig.

The Aquino family claimed Marcos masterminded Ninoy’s assassination. Marcos’ ouster was made possible by Cory’s role. During her term, Cory refused to allow the Marcoses to return. Cory also actively participated in Erap’s ouster. Erap reached out to her and then the two became friends.
Both the Marcoses (represented by children) and Erap attended the wake despite the bitter political quarrels in the past. Cory supported GMA until the Hello Garci scandal. Among them, GMA should have been more warmly welcomed by the Aquinos…but not. That’s just to show that Gloria is worse than Marcos and Erap…at least to the Aquino family.
I had a very long blog and it could not go through.
So now it went through! The Aquino family should start reaching out to the Marcoses. Both of them are now in the opposition and are fighting the boobuwit.
Cory was not vindictive. In the Fort Bonifacio stand off, she was all set to join Col Querubin who was one of the coup plotters who wanted to unseat her in the 80s. But she realized then and so did the Col that they both had the same goal, to have a better Philippines.
Afterall, to this day, nobody knows who the real killer of Ninoy is. The killer may still be in our midst and may even be with the Aquinos. We never know. The young Marcoses and Aquinos were too young then to even understand deadly politics.
Cory’s death is the start of a long mending process. I am touched by the efforts of both sides to at least initiate something in the right direction.
Then make it short so it can go through.
During the eulogy, Mayor Fred Lim called Cory as the best President the Philippines ever had. Nakita ko na biglang napayuko si FVR na nandoon din.
Dodong, I was about to say that the villain in Ninoy’s death may not be a Marcos. He may still be in our midst!
Did Danding Cojuangco attend? Imelda did not but her two children did. Bakit hindi nag-attend si Mikey Arroyo kahit wala pa ang nanay niya?
Tungkol naman sa mga Marcoses, siguro isa sa dahilan kung bakit okay ang pagtanggap ng mga Aquino is because they already know who the real mastermind is. At this point, it’s all speculation. We all must know by now who the person is so that there’s a closure to the case.

But as Noynoy showed..he was civil and polite..good manners and right conduct words that don’t mean a thing to Gloria Macapal gal Arroyo..alam niyang hindi siya welcome..pero na guilty conscience kaya thus she swallowed her pride..or talagang walang hiya..Seguro ang sasabihin sa atin ni Mrs. Cory Aquino..ipagdasal na lang ninyo..
Wala naman talagang kasalanan si Apo Marcos sa pagkamatay ni Ninoy sa totoo lang. Apparently, matutupad na rin ang sinabi ng dating pangulo, that history will be kinder to him. Di puedeng iparis si Marcos kay Gloria Dorobo sa totoo lang dahil si Marcos di naman nagnakaw ng boto. He was the only president voted twice!
Totoo ba ang sinabi mo, Rose? Bakit di binato ng bulok na itlog sa labas? Puro ngawa lang pala.

One thing I observed though, her entourage just walked by Cory’s coffin and did not even stop to see her. You can see it in the news perhaps.

Ninoy’s real killer is still very much alive and around.

Feeling ko ang tunay na mastermind nang pagpatay kay Ninoy ay hindi si Marcos, feeling ko isa sa mga tauhan ni Marcos. Parang may conspiracy na naganap kasi.
Ang mga remnants (or mga personalities) ng regime ni Marcos na lalong lumakas nung panahon ni Cory, malamang sila ang nag orchestrate ng assassination of Ninoy. Yan ang tanging gusto ko mabunyag, ang tunay na nagpapatay kay Ninoy. Sana mabunyag na ito, kung sabagay ang mga feeling kong nagpapatay kay Ninoy sisingilin narin ng tadhana, malay niyo magkasakit narin diba at magkaroon ng health problem, pero sana mas maganda kung may mag sasabi ng totoo para matapos na ang isang madilim na chapter ng ating bansa.
Tungkol naman sa corrpution, wala na akong masasabi, dahil marami pa namang cases na nakabinbin para sa Marcos. Sinasabi ni Madam Imelda, may ilang cases na na acquited siya, pero meron pa kasi natitira kaya matapos muna lahat ng cases na yan bago siya mag sabi na innocent siya.
Its a good start, what Imee and Bong Bong is doing was something noble. Sana maganda ang maging simula neto.
Ang ganda naman ng ipinakita ng mga Marcos sa pagpunta sa lamay ni Pres. Cory, 2:30 ng hapon, kasi naman wala silang dapat katakutan sa mga tao kahit lantaran silang magpunta, pero yong anak ni Gloriang si Mickey (mouse) ang daming alibay. Para sa akin, mas gusto ko yong panahon ni Marcos kaysa ngayon, kasi kung totoong nangurakot si Marcos, nag-iisa lang siya at marami pang kasabay na projects na nagawa, pero ngayon lahat yata ng nakapaligid kay Gloria kasama pa mga bayarang congressmen, asawa at anak puro naging instant milyonaryo, lalo na si Iggy Pidal na biglang nagkaroon ng malaking account sa banko at ari-arian sa U.S. Hindi rin ako masyadong naapektuhan ng martial law ni Marcos kasi ordinaryong tao lang ako na walang dapat ikatakot, curfew hours lang problema ko kasi hindi ako maka-uwi pag natapos paglalaro ko ng madyong ng alangang oras. Happy ako na magka-ayos na Marcos at Aquino at lalong happy ako na magretiro na sa politika si Gloria at hayaang subukan naman natin ang iba, huwag lang si Kabayan.

Now who among these leaders mentioned heeded the lessons of History?

By land, and ibig sabihin yung kabuhayan ng tao. Of course in the rural setting, land is letteraly lupa. In the urban setting, that means yung trabajo ng tao–Economic opportunities ng tao, yung mahihirap, which constitute the vast majority of the Filipino people.
Simply translated, kung sinong presidente isinisisi ng tao sa kanilang kahirapan ngoyon, here and now, siya ang worst president the Philippines ever had.

Benta na lang po o iregalo ninyo kay Unano, hindi po ba iyong kabaong na iyon ay may wiper ang salamin, para maalis agad yong dura. Madam Imelda, siguro hindi na yon para sa iyo – SIGE NA PO IREGALO NA NINYO ANG KABAONG NA MAY WIPER ANG SALAMIN SA PEKENG PRESIDENTE.
Kalbo, ayaw ni Putot na wiper lang ang meron. Kailangan daw e bullet-proof yung kabaong. Jusme! E kung barilin nga naman siya.

Ang kabaong ni GMA ay bullet proof pati glass at bomb proof pa. Not only that, she shall be wearing bullet proof vest inside the coffin. Then, while her coffin is being carried and brought to the cemetery, a battalion of PSG security would be surrounding her to prevent assassin from going near her. Ganyan katakot si Gloria kahit patay na.
I bet takot na ngayon si Gloria Dorobo kaya nilalangisan na ng husto si Imelda at mga anak niya through Greggy siguro na pinsan ni Pidal. Mantakin ninyo ang magiging puwersa kapag nag-combine ang mga Marcos Loyalists at Cory’s Laban. Tindi niyan!

Balak nga ng mga ungas, gold-plated ang kabaong ni Gloria pero ngayon yata sisiguraduhin nang bakal ang gagamitin para di madaling masira kung may magbomba.
Mukhang may nightmare na baka matulad siya doon sa mga namatay sa bombing sa Makati na sabog-sabog ang mga katawan dahil sa bomba. Kailangan kasing pagbayarin siya sa nangyari doon. Sai nga, “Lintik ang walang ganti!”
Dahil siya ang nakaupo, regardless of whether or not peke siya at walang alam daw sa pinaggagawa ng asawa at mga alipores nila, command responsibility siya. Iyan ang di pa niya naiintindihan hanggang ngayon na dapat na inaako niya.
Tangnanay niyang very vain ang dating. Ayaw daw maging popular pero hilig magnakaw pati ng pansin kahit di naman pinapansin. Nag-aaksaya pa ng pera ng bayan na dapat ginagamit sa pagpapabuti ng mga katayuan ng mga pilipino na di na dapat pang ini-encourage na mangibang bansa at doon magwala sa bansang di naman nila bansa. Kinakawawa tuloy ang lahat ng mga pilipino dahil sa kanila.
