The military has ordered the arrest of Lt. (s.g.) Nancy Gadian, the Navy officer who has exposed alleged corruption involving funds for the RP-US Balikatan exercises in 2007, for breaching military discipline.

She was also declared a “deserter” after going AWOL (absence without official leave), the military said in a briefing yesterday.

Lt. Col. Edgard Arevalo, Navy spokesman, said Gadian will be restricted to Navy headquarters where she is attached unassigned.

Ayan, may assignment na si Ambassador for Peace and Understanding Manny Pacquaio.

Sa interview ni Judge Jorge Emmanuel Lorredo sa ANC, tinatawagan niya ang champion na boksingero na pumunta sa hearing ng kasong perjury na isinampa ni Mike Defensor laban kay Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada sa Mayo 28 sa Manila Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 26.

“Nanawagan ako kay Pacquiao na pumunta siya sa May 28 sa courtroom ko, I will allow him to talk to Mike Defensor and Jun Lozada,” sabi niya.

Controversial Manila court judge Jorge Emmanuel Lorredo revealed Wednesday that someone from Malacañang is trying to persuade him to inhibit himself from the perjury case of NBN-ZTE star witness Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada.

“Kahit anong pressure ng Malacañang sa akin, hindi ako mag-inhibit (Malacañang cannot pressure me to inhibit),” Lorredo, presiding judge of the Manila Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) Branch 26, said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News.

Lorredo said that his refusal to inhibit from the case is also meant to protect his fellow magistrates at the Manila MTC.

I posted in my blog the news item that a few hours after boxing great Manny Pacquiao was named ambassador of peace and understanding by Gloria Arroyo, Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez appointed him “special assistant to the Secretary of Justice on intelligence matters.”

Gonzalez’ order said Pacquiao, who holds the rank of master sergeant in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, “may coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation in the enforcement of this mandate.”

In a matter of minutes, my blog, which is classified as political, turned hilarious.

Marami ang nagsasabi kay Manny Pacquaio na huwag pumasok sa pulitika. Sa akin naman, sige, Manny, tumakbo ka.

Sa ating sistema ngayon, para magiging kandidato kahit anong posisyon sa pamahalaan, kailangan lang naman ikaw ay Filipino citizen, registered voter, marunong magbasa at sumulat. Lahat naman yan qualified si Manny.

May political party na si Pacquaio ngunit sabi ng Comelec , local lang ang accreditation.Ang balita, sa Saranggani tatakbo si Pacquiao para congressman. Walang problema yan dahil ang age requirement para sa pagiging congressman at 25 taong gulang.

Col. Ariel Querubin, detained on charges of mutiny for allegedly planning to withdraw support from Gloria Arroyo in February 2006, revealed his plan to run for the Senate in 2010 in a letter first published in this space last Saturday.

Malacañang made a mocking reaction.Deputy presidential spokesman Anthony Golez said, Everybody is free to dream.”

He added, “Hindi ko kilala si Colonel Querubin, ang pagkatao niya, ang pag-defy niya sa chain of command, nakikita ko, to me that does not show any good [I don’t know Colonel Querubin personally but his defying the chain of command, the way I see it, does not show any good].” .

Hours after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo named him “ambassador” for peace and understanding” boxing icon Manny Pacquiao was also appointed “special assistant to the secretary of the Department of Justice on intelligence matters.”

This time, it was Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez who issued the appointment through DO 344, dated May 8.

“In the interest of public service and with the provision of existing law, Master Sergeant Emmanuel Pacquiao has been hereby designated as special assistant to the secretary of the Department of Justice in intelligence matters,” the order said.
