Nawawalang trabaho

  4. hay naku tita ellen, that’s what happens when you have a [fill in the blanks] that’s:

“BUY the people, OFF the people and FOOL the people”

A least we still have OFW remittances which is now in the area of more or less $15 billion/year that really keeps the local Philippine economy afloat. Thanks to all Overseas Pinoys! That’s one extra-ordinary help.

Most of the news reports that I am reading are mixed that says that there will be no recession in the Philippines but it seemed that everyone agrees that there will be an economic slowdown. But! Look at this! For example: this one says that the banking industry is not affected by the recession. This one says that there will be no recession in the Philippines. And this one says that the economy will be gloomy but no recession.

It sure would be gloomy when you see people losing jobs daily! In a situation where people are losing jobs, that means no work. No work means, no production. No production equals? Well, in the bigger formula of calculating GDP, it’s a reduction of GDP. And what does reduction of GDP means again? Ano pa nga ba. It’s called RECESSION. Dun din lang pala mapupunta.

I know, I know, we all need to be careful about the wordings, else, we might cause panic eh sobra na ngang paghihirap. But, what’s in the word? You only need to walk outside of your house in Manila and see the reality. In fact, this is how the Labor Secretary puts it… “This is not normal!” Aray ku!

Not anymore

I didn’t think about it when I was crafting my entry hahaha! Swak na swak actually with someone dun sa me dinoktor na degree hahaha!

  11. chi,
nauna na akong umiyak sa iyo. Lahat ng mga iyan dating kliyente ko. Anong ibig sabihin iyan, e di walang projects, walang bidding, gutom ang TonGuE (Letse, wala pang LPG!)

    Reynz,

  12. Chi,

Just a week or two ago, CNN showed a program on the pirates in Africa (Somalia). Golly, a lot many of their victims that they do not release yet are Filipinos tapos magmamayabang pa si Talandi. I understand that they have been there as kidnap/hijack victims for months now.

But look at the news blackout on these Filipinos para di bistado ang kabobohan ni Gloria PhD daw!

Wala kaming running hot water. Nagpapakulo kami ng tubig tuwing maligo.

Kaya pesteng-peste ako kay Angelo Reyes who kept on insisting na wala raw LPG shortage. Ngayon umamin na.

  14. grizzy,

  15. No Job, No problem, Go in line in Malacanang and get unemployment benefit for six months. It’s about time Gloria pay back the community.LITSI! ay mali “Let’s See” dapat.

  16. Ellen,

Dati full time ang trabaho (40 hours a week) ngayon 24 hours a week nalang. US/Canadian border pag wala kang US visa.

There is MIDAS TOUCH, yang czar, has MALAS TOUCH.

  20. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

Gloria Arroyo will feed laid-off workers with brochures and propaganda materials. This is the best thing she can do to ease the impact of massive unemployment. Laway lang walang aksyon .

  21. That’s right, Manong Diego. The OFWs laid-off from jobs in Taiwan that they invited to Malacañang were given brochures and other reading materials. That’s how this fake midget treats her Heroes! Are they now going to feed their families with Malacañang paper?

  22. @TonGuE-tWisTeD,

The OFWs laid-off from jobs in Taiwan that they invited to Malacañang were given brochures and other reading materials.

I remember somebody left a comment in my blog to the effect that show-off lang to and picture opps.

Now, here’s a very nice article on the Inquirer which talks about the wrong strategies or priorities in the way the government will be using our resources in so far as the implementation of the 2009 budget is concerned. Then again, what’s new, di ba. Here’s an excerpt:

Here the national government will be implementing this year a P1.4 trillion 2009 budget addressed not at the slowing down of the economy that we are feeling now but on various concerns that arose from the twin oil and food crisis that we faced in the first half of last year when the national budget was still being prepared. Oil is now cheaper and food prices, while still relatively high, have more or less stabilized both here and abroad. The new problem is that of the slowing economy – the declining business and disappearing jobs.

  23. I don’t about the solution of Malacanang regarding these problem of unemployment and OFW’s going home.Maybe, she’ll just take anti-depressant pill and sleep over with and wait for a civil revolution to erap este, erupt.

Unemployment is a worldwide crisis.Isaach H has elaborated also the crisis in Canada.Same thing in the middle east where our OFW priming the pump of Gloria’s economics, unemployment is reaching a high barometer and maybe, their only solution is to repatriate our “Bagong Bayani”.

In America the president is promising a large federal spending project over the course of two years. Numbers as high as $700 billion have been mentioned.America is bankrupt too, but is more borrowing and spending really the solution.

There seems to be a growing understanding that Obama will not raise taxes on the rich as he promised in the campaign. At least not for now. If we assume that Obama isn’t going to raise taxes then it must be assumed that any massive new spending project (in addition to the massive bailout already underway) must be paid for with government borrowing.

But, I wonder, is the solution to our current crisis really having the government borrow money and spend it? If so, how is that different than what President Bush has been doing for the last eight years? President Bush has borrowed and spent over $4 trillion and that obviously didn’t allow us to avoid the current crisis. In fact, some people are actually blaming Bush for the crisis. Why would borrowing and spending another trillion–or two or three–produce different results?

You see, folks in America we can barrow money to solve this crisis, but in the Philippines who will lend Arroyo? She has a tendency of not paying. In the Philippines the big problem I can see is not the unemployment crisis but, a crisis of confidence. Consumers lack confidence in the economy so they’re avoiding spending, and lenders don’t have confidence in borrowers so they aren’t lending. Building bridge to nowhere, Northrail and infrastructure won’t necessarily change that.Confidence need to be restored first so that our government can barrow more money to solve this crisis. As I said, this is a crisis of confidence, not unemployment.

  24. Another problem I can see into this mess is our attitude, we are living beyond our means. The reality is that we’ve known for a long time that we’ve been borrowing 5/6 and saving too little. We knew we couldn’t afford the houses of Villar and lifestyles ( we are not prosecutors working at DOJ or a police general )we were trying to maintain, yet we bought into the hype. The situation simply was not sustainable.

I suspect the solution here is for us to finally face cold hard reality. We have to accept the fact that we can’t borrow our way into prosperity any more than we can tax our way into it. Consumers can’t take on more and more debt in a never-ending effort to obtain a lifestyle that their incomes don’t support. Nor can Gloria continue to borrow and spend money as if it had an unlimited supply. The debt load of Pidal government is becoming a problem for our grandchildren in many decades but for us right now also.

What is happening today isn’t because the government hasn’t spent enough money to help this crisis. It’s because (They deposited the borrowed money from Chinese in Swiss account and we can ask the Euro Generals for that to confirm our suspicion)have ALL been spending too much government money. We’ve been living on borrowed time, so to speak, and the time has come to adopt a more conservative and frugal lifestyle–a lifestyle more similar to that of our grandparents who lived in and learned from lining up early in the morning to buy 3 salop( I don’t remember what is in English,Pounds kasi ang timbangan dito) of NARIC.

The economy will eventually recovery. It always does. But, given the cause of the current crisis, I don’t think any recovery will be possible as long Mrs.Pidal is on the driver seat.

  25. In the Philippines the big problem I can see is not the unemployment crisis but, a crisis of confidence.

Amen. And trust in the people who are supposed to deliver the services due us.

Interestingly though, the last stimulus check I received from Bush before Christmas was for $22. Yeap – ventidos. Leche! Obviously, every Americans forgot about that stupid wasteful spending. But, let me go back to the budget spending in the Senate (Philippines).

On its face, it’s always a nice program. Commerce needs to flow freely so you need infrastructure. Yet, who are the gainers and the losers really? Pretty soon, it will just be another one those so many bulleted list and never-ending Senate investigations. In the meantime, the culprits are enjoying their grand-steal winnings.

Obviously, for commerce to move again during these times, there has to be liquidity. But who has it other those who have already pocketed most of the available monies that’s supposed to be for Pinoys? Given that they build the most fantastic super-highways and bridges in the Philippines, complete with elevator and air-conditioned sidewalks, what good would it do to local entrepreneurs when they can’t even get a loan enough for their operating capital? Forget about who gets to get the loan. The BSP findings alone on (was it Legacy banks?) loan procedures were outrageous if not wicked. Loans without collaterals? Missing loan documents? Loans to relatives? Ugh!

During times of recession, obviously you need to create jobs. There is always this notion that if you increase government spending that it will perk up the economy. Will it? It sure does create temporary employment and activity. But, we’ve seen all those infrastructure programs in the US already, yet we’re still in such in a quagmire.

Then you have this notion to help the rich through tax credits thinking that it will filter down to the poor because the rich will eventually re-invest it in programs that will deliver employment. Well, I guess we’ve see that in the US also. I believe it’s called trickle down economics wherein we’ve all been tricked.

I guess my point is that, the world is in recession – did somebody forget why we are in this bad, bad situation? I’d have to go back to the very lax fed regulation in the United States. The subprime. The fly by night mortgage banks. The credit-default-swaps. The Lehman Brothers of the world, the AIGs of the world, the Maddoff and all his gremlins, etc., etc., that essentially killed investor confidence and so the missing liquidity in the world market because nobody trusts nobody.

If the OFW’s are affected which will now be the headache of the government, it is because, the program since the beginning was really to kick us all out of the country and be the slaves of the world instead of helping us create business that would in turn create more employment such that we won’t be in this situation and we are with our families. I’m not even mentioning the rest of the incessant problems like mismanagement, corruptions which actually contributed to the already worse situation. But heck! When you are receiving $15 billion a year, it’s already an industry in itself or the total Armenian GDP? (Check out the CIA Factbook/Armenia’s GDP) Then your tendency is just to push Pinoys out of the country and work!

It’s nice for the Senate to move and appear to work on solutions to the problem. I’m worried though if they truly understand why this is all happening. So my question becomes, does the projected government spending puts a break on recession in the Philippines and provide jobs? I am one of those who believe that it wouldn’t.

Everybody is right but not all the time. What is apparently true is that we are an agricultural base therefore we concentrate on what the land could bring. Anything outside it is a bonus, like winning three numbers of the lotto and if we lose it, lets not fuss about it as if its the end of world of GMA. Let her do her lies and we do our thing. In the exercise of our minds, we can curse the next guy and everybody else but dont remain lazy, dont just come to Manila and dream up to get a job abroad which could be already passe. Plant camote.

  28. What is apparently true is that we are an agricultural base therefore we concentrate on what the land could bring.–Valdemar.

So true,Amigo. When I was growing up,life then was easy.I can count the number of OFW on my left hand fingers without my toes. You could barely see a husband in town, they were busy plowing the land with “Kalakian”in the ricefeild.Their kids go to school and their wife breastfeed the 7th children and 3 months pregnant for number 8.Rice and camote was abundant with daing hanging in the kitchen the smoke of the firewood while cooking preserved the “daing na dalag” Who need refrigerator and LPG that time? life was simple, you can ask your neighbor to spare you a cup of bagoong and a cooked rice if you’re hungry while he cut your hair Bianzon style for singkwenta sintimos.

Then, here comes what they called “Last Visit” at Sangley point, their son joined the US Navy.In our town almost five families at the same time were having last visit every week-end,they butchered cow for celebration, the father wore “Ang Tibay” shoes for the first time and it was maybe, their first time to see Manila on a rented passenger jeepney for transportation.Every time there was a last visit, those students from the barrio who attend class in poblacion walked so many kilometers or wait for Victory Liner to pass-by every 2 hours.

After few years in the USS NEVER MOVE on the 7th fleet peeling onions and tik-tik kalawang, they spent vacation, english spokening, smoking salem and don’t you ever call them Pedro and Pablo because they won’t talk to you.If you address them PETE and PAUL they will spare you some stick of blue seal.

Those sailors were too selective when in comes to girls, they were looking for a nurse and teachers only. Our town ended up importing public and private school teachers from another town. These sailors who are now retired cleaned up the nurses and teachers professions in our town during that time.

The only business flourishing in the Philippines, mostly in Metro Manila are the “Skin Whitening” and “Boobs” enhancing clinics. With Pakyaw’s growing treasure, he will look like Michael Jackson soon – white and total make-over. At least he’s spending.

Puede kayang may Filipino Pirates on bangka? Sino kayang hoholdapin nila?

  30. With the current economic crisis a lot of people may start to wonder about their job security. Already there is a lot of ‘advisers’ telling dissatisfied employees to find a new job before they quit their current one,so I thought it would be a great time to take a look at some of the most recession proof jobs.

Obviously it is different for everyone based on their own circumstances, as one person who is in a job that would be considered high risk in relation to recessions may successfully keep his job, while others who hold one of the 10 positions below may find themselves out of work.

But here are my picks for the top recession proof jobs.

    1. Nursing
Even during economic hardship life goes on. People get injured. people still have sex and get pregnant. There are still accidents and all the other reasons people visit hospitals. They are beaten and whacked by their lender being forgetful to pay what they owe.
    2. Accounting
Just because times are getting tougher doesn’t mean that people don’t need accountants. The increase in demand for accountants can be blamed on tougher accounting and auditing regulations, making this one of the most recession proof jobs.
    3. Education
Kid’s need to be taught one plus one no matter what is going on with the economy, so Madam and Sir are also quite safe when it comes to job security. However location may play a part in where the jobs are located.
    4. Software Design & Development
According to the US Department of Labor, software design and development industry is set to be one of the fastest growing jobs through to 2016! reyna elena,me and you are addicted to blogging.
    5. Administration Assistants
As living expenses increase, it is getting harder to live on less. Which is why there is always a need for administration assistants. As current administration assistants retire or move onto higher paid jobs they need to be replace.
    6. Green Jobs
This is Gloria Arroyo’s favorite and she appointed herself CZaring
Until we counteract the effects that we have had on the earth there will be a need for environmental scientists and other ‘green jobs’ to tackle problems such as global warming.
    7. Police
Crime doesn’t stop as times get harder. In fact it usually gets worse.Burglars and robbers multiply in numbers. There will always be a need for police officers.
    8. Security
Just like with the police, but as more people become unemployed crime increases which is why business’ will look at hiring more security staff to monitor their business premises.
    9. Aged Care
Our aging population will need a lot of support and this will not change even during economic hardship. This is a good paying job compared to waiting tables. These senior citizen have pensions and maybe mansions, they give you gift on Christmas especially those old man, they enjoyed so much if you masturbate them, don’t worry it won’t get filthy, pipe is clogged it needs Drano..
    10. Funeral Services
The sad fact of life is that people die, especially on this crisis,a lot of people will die on stab wounds, gunshot protecting their table and hunger, It doesn’t matter whether its the middle of a boom or recession, there will always be a need for funeral services and imbalsamador… – .

  31. vonjovi2 vonjovi2

  32. Valdemar Valdemar

    Cocoy,

May I add the oldest profession, motel business, KTV bars. We are running out of girls in that trade at the rate the elderly Australians are marrying them off. I wonder if that Smith girl in Subic finally hooked her right Seventh Fleet sailor.

  33. MPRivera MPRivera

Doctor of Economics, pwe! Quack doctor, pwedeng pwede.

  35. Cocoy, I have no problem with your list of recession-proof jobs. Except #7 – Police
Crime doesn’t stop as times get harder. In fact it usually gets worse.Burglars and robbers multiply in numbers. There will always be a need for police officers.

It’s a catch-22 situation, more policemen will be needed because joblessness produces criminals, but many policemen are also criminals, so the more you hire cops, the more crimes.

There’s one big omission from your list – be a government official! The bigger the stimulus package, the more kurakot. Example: tell me, how can you audit the DSWD which personally handed P500 from the electricity bill aid fund to their list of qualified citizens? How many names were padded nationwide? How many of the rice imported for the poor were actually sold to the poor? How much of the Botikang Bayan drugs were later resold to the big drug stores? Or the more rampant – how many 15/30 and ghost employees are included in the payroll of city hall/munisipyo/kapitolyo? The list never ends.

As long as the US economy is bad, all others are also bad. If our economy is good then why send out lots and lots of OFWs in the first place .
For the US economy to be good, the rich countries with lots of dollars hoarded should buy more american goods so that those americans may have more jobs then the money to buy more imported goods instead of these rich countries like China , Japan put their excess dollars in US treasury bonds which is non-productive because these money doesn’t create direct jobs for these big time spenders. What these countries are doing is pump priming their own economies which are useless.

  39. A big congratulations to the administration?

The Philippines has made it to this year’s “Guinness Book of World Records” for having the most number of recorded murders based on United Nations data in 2004, an election year.

  40. Galing ng administrasyon ni Gloria, ano?

Gloria Arroyo and her cohorts also murdered about one million FPJ votes. The Hello Garci sound bytes bounced around the globe million times. It’s also an unofficial world record.

The Evil Bitch has no brain. The ones who came up with all those schemes to protect her presidency were the smart ones. Again, I have to mention “smart” again. Who these evil advisers are, I’m curious to know.
