Natawa ako sa reaction ni Rep. Roilo Golez sa rekomendasyon ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines na suspindihin ang justice secretary ni Gloria Arroyo na si Raul Gonzalez.
Sabi ni Golez, dahil sa rekomendasyon ng IBP, dapat ng mag-resign si Gonzalez dahil yan ay galing sa kapwa niya abogado. Hindi lang magiging mababa ang paningin sa knayna gpagkatao, pati na rin ang posisyon.
Inulit ni Golez, na kababayan ni Gonzalez (pareho silang Ilonggo), ang kanyang panawagan na ang natira na lamang na marangal na alternatibo para sa kanya ay mag-resign.
Una kasing sinabi ni Golez kay Gonzalez ang magresign nang pinabakasyon ni Arroyo ang mga prosecutors at hindi ang mga taga Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency bilang naiiwang marangal na alternatibo.
Nagalit ni Gonzalez sa PDEA, lalo na kay Major Ferdinand Marcelino, na nagbulgar ng suhulan sa DOJ para ilaglag ang kaso laban sa “Alabang Boys”.
Sabi pa ni Golez, “Ngunit hindi ko naman sinasabi na yun lang ang natitirang alternatibo.”
Oo nga naman. Meron din namang alternatibo na hindi marangal. Ang kumapit sa posisyon.
Ang rekomendasyon ng IBP ay tungkol sa alok ni Gonzalez noong 2007 eleksyon sa mga barangay captain ng Iloilo na magbibigay siya ng P10,000 bawat isa sa kanila na magpapanalo ng Team Unity tiket ni Arroyo ng 12-0 laban sa Genuine Opposition. Sabi ng IBP, nilabag ni Gonzalez ang batas sa eleksyon na nagbabawal ng pambibili ng boto at ng Code of Professional Responsibility for ng mga abogado.
Sampal nga ang nangyari kay Gonzalez noon dahil sa lahat na barangay sa Iloilo, nanalo ang oposisyon, pasok pa si Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV na nakakulong at walang pera para sa kampanya.
Siyempre ang reaksyon ni Gonzalez ay yabang. Wala raw siyang paki-alam sa IBP. Siyempre naman, nakadandal yata siya sa pader ng Malacañang.
Hindi ito unang beses na nahaharap si Gonzalez sa suspension. Apat na taon siyang nasuspindi simula noong 1989, nang siya ay Tanodbayan. Sabi ng Supreme Court ignorante raw siya sa batas ng kinuwestyon niya ang desisyon ng Supreme court sa kasong Zaldivar versus Gonzalez.
Hindi kaya galawin ni Arroyo si Gonzalez. Utang na loob ni Arroyo kay Gonzalez (at kay Sen. Kiko Pangilinan) ang pagproklama sa kanya na nanalong kandidato sa pagka-presidente noong 2004 kahit nandya siya.
Sa akin, ayaw kong mag-resign si Gonzalez habang nasa Malacañang si Arroyo. Gusto ko ituloy niya ang pagkakalat niya sa DOJ.
Ano ba iyung hinawakan ni Gloria kay Gonzales? Parang malapit sa gitna ng hita kaya napayuko si Raul.

Malulungkot ako kapag nag-resign ang The Goon sa Bastusan Republic kasi ay mababawasan ang aking mamumura ng malutong.
UKG reported that prosecutor Resado and his wife deposited P1.6M on Dec. 2, 2008, the day when he passed the DOJ resolution, which dismissed the complaint against Richard Brodett, Joseph Tecson, and Jorge Joseph.
Resado said this money came from his wife’s lending business. Further investigation is needed.

COMELEC legal department chief Ferdinand Rafanan yesterday said that the mere fact that Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez offered P10,000 to barangay captains in Iloilo to ensure an administration sweep in the 2007 elections already constituted an election law offense.
“Base sa ating (election) law, ang pag-offer ng pera ay maituturing na vote-buying, which is an election offense,” Rafanan said.
Rafanan said it is highly unlikely that the Supreme Court will suspend Gonzalez.
“I think it doesn’t fall in the category. Sa regulations dapat may case of dishonesty, graft and corruption or betrayal of public trust,” he said.

Gonzales can weather this storm.Let’s pause for a while and let me defend Gonzales on his disbarment,based on my street justice experience this case is easy to defend.Of course this is not the vote of confidence I am looking for at this time. Hopefully, I can offer something a little more useful… or at least something easier to implement.Somehow maybe I can able to “spin straw into gold” by looking closely and creatively at a case,or the gold turn to a chicken shit.
I will start my opening argument in enumerating some psychological facts that impaired Gonzales judgment.
As we all know,Gonzales suffered a moderately severe frontal lobe brain injury due to side effect of his medication.The effect did not severely impair his IQ or his “test taking” skills but it did severely affect the centers of the brain that regulate judgment and inhibition control. Fortunately the brain injury could be seen on an MRI scan made in China brokered by Abalos. Formerly Gonzales was a strong average student in high school until he graduated law school but,i’m going to conceal how many times he took the bar exam,that’s (Attorney client privilege),after his kidney transplant performed by a Chinese doctor and the organ donated by a rapist,murderer,whino,drug addict donor, Gonzales’s life quickly unraveled.He eventually developed a severe methamphetamine addiction, dropped out his pants and urinate in “Golden Arinola” in the presence of his secretary.Due to his incapacity to go to the bathroom it is understandable that no “sexual harrasment” involve and, despite his determined efforts to perform his job as a justice secretary,the temptation of bribery could not be avoided.
He now has severe mental health problems in addition to his kidney transplant malfunctioning. His doctors doubt he will ever be able to support himself and medical expenses without his job as a loyal cabinet member of the president.
How could you allow that to happen if you will disbar him? For the devil sake and forgiveness of heaven,where are you conscience?You are giving Secretary Gonzales a death sentence because if you disbar him,you are taking away everything from him,his life and his living.We are all lawyers and we all know business out there.
