“Dissent without action is consent”

Exactly one year ago, Filipinos were glued to their TV sets watching a few, brave military officers led BGen Danilo Lim and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV take a stand against the trampling by Gloria Arroyo of our Constitution and and our democratic institutions.

Following are links to articles on that day:

Majority of the Filipinos believe Gloria Arroyo cheated in the 2004 elections. It’s a criminal act.

That “original sin” has spawned more crimes against the Filipino people: fertilizer scam, NBN/ZTE, Diwalwal/ZTE, Quedancor mess, etc. etc.

But why is Arroyo still in Malacañang”

Because we allow it.

Brig. Gen. Danny Lim’s quote on that day, rings louder today: “Dissent without action is consent.”

It took the blacks in America over a hundred years to gain their independence, equal footing in the society with the other races and to finally have a president they can call their own. We also have to be patient with our movement to clean up our government of corrupt politicians.

One thing is for sure, we can not always just depend on our uniformed brothers to do the work of cleaning up for us. Trillianes and the Magdalos did their share in the Oakwood Siege, Gen Lim, Gen Miranda, Col Querubin did their share in the Feb 2006 supposedly coup (what a crap!). All of them are incarcerated, except for a few who just wanted to be asspweron’s bodyguards now. Siguro naman, the civilians who are just sitting around should carry their fat asses and do something for the country for a change!

Fil-Am spy still professes love for Filipinos

CHICAGO, Illinois – Convicted Filipino-American spy Leandro Aragoncillo is almost half way in completing his ten-year term in prison but he has not lost touch with political developments in the Philippines.

In a hand-written letter to the publisher-editor of New Jersey-based weekly Filipino Express, Lito A. Gajilan Jr., that was published in its latest issue, Aragoncillo “expressed his grief over the plight of the Filipino people and the political conditions in (his native) country.

“I am deeply concerned, as most Filipinos are, that the political course the people are following is simply wrong.

“From the Philippine viewpoint, the Filipino people were made to believe that the current Philippine administration could bring changes the country badly needed.

“But after seven years of seizing power from a democratically elected president (former President Joseph Estrada) in January 2001, her (President Arroyo’s) government lost what popularity it has after being discredited by corruption and inefficiency.”

Aragoncillo, 50, who will be due for release on April 28, 2014 from Big Spring Federal Correction Institute in Texas, also talked about the need for change in the Philippines by electing a leader in 2010 that “not only understands and cares deeply about the issues besetting the country and the interests of the people, but also have the necessary conviction and willingness to invest time and political capital needed to push much-needed reforms.”

    Advice to Barack Obama

A former staff in the offices of Vice Presidents Al Gore and Dick Cheney, Aragoncillo also offered a piece of advice on how the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama should deal with the Philippines: “Over the years, we believe that the great achievement of the US lay in providing the economic and political framework, and incentive for developing the Philippines’ rich resources.

“With the incoming US administration, Washington’s efforts must be aligned with the Philippines’ most pressing problems. As I believe that engagement is crucial to effect any changes in the Philippines, instead of focusing solely on large-scale grants to sustain the Philippine economic growth, Washington should focus on the root causes of the country’s continued instability. This imbalance must be redressed urgently.”

The Manila-born Aragoncillo, a former US Marine and former FBI analyst, was sentenced in July 2007 by the US District Court in New Jersey to 10 years in prison for espionage and other charges, including taking and transferring classified information to senior political and government officials of the Philippines.

His co-accused, former ranking Philippine police officer Michael Ray Aquino, was sentenced to more than six years in prison by the same court for unlawfully possessing secret US government documents.

Aquino is currently appealing his sentence and is presently detained at Federal Correction Complex in Butner, North Carolina. He is due to be released on March 19, 2011.

Prosecutors said Aragoncillo had 10 co-conspirators and four unindicted co-conspirators. Among them are former President Estrada, former Philippine House Speaker Arnulfo Fuentebella and Sen. Panfilo Lacson.

    Remorse

In his letter, Aragoncillo also expressed remorse for spying against the United States to satisfy his anti-Arroyo contacts in the Philippines, by saying, “I would like to let you know that I have accepted my culpability and continue to show great remorse for my offenses, actions and mistakes.

“I still struggle to find peace in my heart, as the mistakes I have committed brought my family pain and undue sacrifices. My deep affection, compassion for the plight of the poor Filipinos, as well as my ideology, has robbed my family the opportunity to enjoy a normal family life.”

In an editorial, the Express, blamed Mr. Aragoncillo for allowing himself “to be used by politicians in the Philippines. He could have done so much for the Filipino people given his high stature in the US government.”

The editorial added, “He did not need the help of the Philippine opposition to make a difference. He did not need to spy on the US government to sooth the stomach aches of hungry Filipinos. He did not need to resort to illegal ways to prove his ideals and love for his home country. Yet, he did, and now he is paying for it.” – GMANews.TV

an american villain but definitely a filipino hero…

and the price you have to pay to become one.

    I salute you, Mr. Aragoncillo!!!

  19. The success of tomorrow’s action depends on our will to sustain it until the next day.

Rather than going home when twilight creeps in, extending the action for at least 12 more hours, in the hope that the studentry will come pouring in on Monday might make a difference.

12 more hours after twilight – maybe that’s what it will take to defeat apathy, and encourage people to question why are we doing it? It it only for ourselves? Or is it something more profound? And maybe, just maybe, they will come.

12 more hours after twilight – maybe that’s what it will take to bring down this Ruthless Regime.

12 more hours after twilight – maybe that’s what it will take to bring forth the Change we wish for.

12 more hours after twilight – maybe that’s what it will take to bring forth the a better country for your child and mine.

12 more hours. Is it too high a price for freedom? Freedom from having to leave a family just to keep the same intact? Freedom from the ills of misgovernance?

    12 more hours.

  20. In an editorial, the Express, blamed Mr. Aragoncillo for allowing himself “to be used by politicians in the Philippines. He could have done so much for the Filipino people given his high stature in the US government.”

    I agree.

Politicians volunteered to become our Servants yet we serve them as our Masters.

  21. Off topic:

Do you know that the former Assistant Agriculture Secretary Ibarra Poliquit is nothing but a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of the Philippines? Now, that’s an “Assistant Agriculture Secretary” people!!!

He said that after resigning from the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the aftermath of the controversial fund mess, he joined the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) as its vice president in December 2005.

    http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view/20081129-175052/Bolantes-ex-agri-aide-PE-graduate

A Physical Education bachelor’s degree became an Assistant Agriculture Secretary and the a Vice-President of GSIS holding the country’s pension fund?!

  25. florry florry

I hate to play as a spoiler but the truth is very few people wants to join rallies or mass actions voluntarily and without pay. The exception maybe was the EDSA 3 after Erap left the palace. It all started at EDSA 1 followed by EDSA 2 where organizers “hakot” people from the poor areas of the city. These people are paid 200 to 500 pesos with free foods courtesy of business people who happened to hate those who are in power. Nobody can blame them because a few hundreds and free food is a already big help for them never mind putting themselves in a dangerous situation. Yes because it’s always these poor and unwashed who provides the warm bodies and who manned the frontlines in every mass action. If ever, it’s very seldom or never that those supposed leaders, organizers, the perfumed civil society were seen in where the action is. And thereafter these poor people not only given any credit but are forgotten until come election time and some mass actions where there warm bodies are needed again.

Gloria is still there where she should not be. Well she did all the right things and pressed all the right buttons to remain in power; while the oppositions did all the wrong moves to let her stay. The oppositions were never united, thanks to the mastery of Gloria in dividing them. And the biggest culprit of them all is Lacson, the spoiler of the 2004 elections.

With this corrupt government people wanted some changes but still with some strings attached. With that note, we can say that the people justly deserved what they got because of their inaction. They have to live with that.

  26. FYI, PhysEd (as a former female teacher prefers to call it bacause she says PE may also refer to Premature Ejaculation) may be an “unsophisticated” course in UP’s SPEAR (School of Phys Ed. And Recreation) but definitely not as easy as some may think. It serves mainly as a school designed to accommodate varsity athletes with their conflicting practice, competion, and academic schedules as well as for future PhysEd teachers who seek superior credentials in teaching PhysEd.

But I fully agree, even such credentials do not count in a technically-demanding department such as the DA, moreso, in the GSIS. In this government,it seemsthe best credentialin one’s resumé is that small sidenote which says: “Dear Sec., this guy is FG’s protegé.”

  27. florry, sorry I beg to disagree, it was not Lacson’s fault that the opposition lost in 2004. Ever heard of “Hello Garci”? It was Lacson who was a legitimate protagonist until Angara and Sotto, and “blessed” later by Erap to draft his compadre, whom we now know better that their compelling selfish interests would make them serve in the evil bitch’s court.

It was moronic that Estrada had pushed FPJ to his death when he could have supported Lacson and it would be the end of Gloria. He was stupid for allowing Angara to run the campaign when it was the same bastard who provided his diary to Erap’s enemies to unseat him.

If there were any spoilers in the 2004 polls, these were Angara, Sotto, Honasan, and Erap himself who manipulated FPJ’s gullibility and underestimated Lacson’s winnability, as well as his network of Police officers all over the country who could have guarded the ballots of their former Chief.

  28. Which brings us to the topic, “Dissent without action is consent”. Between, Angara, Sotto, Honasan, Erap and Lacson, who are giving their consent to the schemes and scams of Gloria? Who is consistently dissenting against the bitch and her minions?

  29. parasabayan parasabayan

The Manila Penn incident was a classic case of “pagbubuyo” ng mga grupo sa ating mga magigiting na sundalo. But the promised civilian support never came. Gen Lim and Sen Trillianes were tricked. This is why, if the Filipinos still have this most hated illegal president, kasalanan din ng mga tao kung bakit nandiyan pa rin sa pwesto yang magnanakaw at sinungaling na yan.

  30. bitchevil bitchevil

I agree, Tongue. Furthermore, INC initially wanted to support Lacson until FPJ came along. Manalo was torn between two good guys, two true opposition. Manalo then gave the two an ultimatum to decide who should be Pres. and Vice. Otherwise, Manalo would support GMA. The threat was to compel the two to unite in one ticket. Because they did not agree, Manalo had no choice but to make good his threat or else his name and the church’s image would be jeopardized. People could argue and say that INC’s votes did not count so much. Gloria cheated just the same. However, it’s safe to say that at least 80% of the INC registered voters obeyed Manalo. So, if there were one million INC members who voted, 800,000 votes did somehow contribute to the Bitch.

  31. It is obvious that the House intends to pursue Charter Change by converting itself to a Con Ass.

Will the people wake up from their deep slumber and oppose the railroading of charter-change?

  32. florry florry

    Tongue, BE
There’s no question that FPJ’s chances to win the presidency was more likely than Lacson. In fact you and me and everybody knew that he won the presidency but was cheated by Gloria. Gloria was able to cheat FPJ because the opposition vote was divided between them and not even a hundred Garci can “doctor” the result if the margin is big enough to manipulate. It was even rumored that he was paid to stay on. If he really wanted Gloria out of the palace at any cost and considered himself as a good opposition and for unity’s sake he should have sacrificed for the mean time and gave way to FPJ who between them had the better chance, but Lacson obviously didn’t have the word “sacrifice” in his vocabulary. It’s just like if I don’t go up, you don’t go up too; and if I’ll go down, you go down with me attitude.

  33. martina martina

Isang taon na ang Manila Pen incident where the few brave soldiers risked their lives to free Pinas from the clutches of the fake president, and here we are worse than a year ago all because we left Gen. Lim and fellow Magdalos in the dark. We are so pathetic as a whole.

Compared to Gloria indeed Obama is an angel. kahit na ang sabi si McCain is a white devil..compared to Gloria he still is an angel…and si Mike Arroyo?..San Miguel marka demonyo.. it is a matter of opinion..sabi nga ni Garcia Gloria is like Jesus Christ…kailang kaya siya paipako..let us not wait for Holy Week para ipako siya sa Pampanga..sana bukas pag gising ko wala na siya…

BE, as it is shaping up, Obama is a CLINTON Angel. He is pretty much picking all the Clinton proteges. But I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Too early to tell how effective of a president he will be. I will give him two years to prove himself.

  50. parasabayan parasabayan

I watched the news and the police arrested 47 rallyists on their way to Manila Penn to mark the anniversary of the Manila Penn Walk. The anti-riot police blocked the streets. Wala daw permit ang mga nag-rally. Why did they not secure one? Mayor Binay would have given them one. Huwag kayong mag-short cut. Do it the right way para there will not be any reason for not allowinbg you to rally.

  51. bitchevil bitchevil

Obama picked most of the Clinton guys because they were competent and successful during the Clinton Administration. Economy was great during Clinton’s time. And that’s what Obama badly needs at this time. Economy is the top priority. But of course it’s also some kind of pay back to the Clintons who campaign heavily for him during the last stage of the campaign. I’m more concerned with his Chief of Staff pick…Emmanuel. Emmanuel is a Jew with strong ties to Israel. This doesn’t look good to the Arabs who supported Obama’s candidacy. Without offense to the Jews, they have long been controlling the world’s economy and politics.

  52. bitchevil bitchevil

Do you know why rallies these days don’t succeed? Because Malacanang police and soldiers are already waiting for the rallyists hours and even days before the announced rally. This was not the case during Erap’s time. Erap allowed the people to protest freely in the streets. We have not heard of anyone arrested or jailed at the height of Erap’s ouster. Gloria learned this mistake. She now makes sure it will not happen.

  53. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

I’d assumed that no one really know much about the March, a photo-op session, I suppose?

  54. bitchevil bitchevil

How much the march? Is there a price on march? You must be thinking about Planet March.

  55. balweg balweg

Remember Martina…more than 11 million Pinoys ang sinabihan mo na walang K si Erap in layman’s word?

If not…very good dahil di ka accountable sa mga sufferings na kinakaharap natin sa ngayon since Gloria’s darkest days!

I’m thinking about the graduation of all kids this coming March!

  58. bitchevil bitchevil

We’ve long acknowledged that Erap is no saint. Why do people keep on looking at his weaknesses? If taking jueteng money to help the Muslim Youth Foundation and other pro-poor porjects was a crime, then be it. If being a drinker and womanizer is a human weakness, then let it be. The question is why did people elected him for so many years as a Mayor up to Senator, Vice President and President despite his vices? What I don’t like about Erap is his too forgiving attitude. He has practically forgiven all who conspired in his ouster. Then now, he’s even considering of forgiving Chavit Singson. WHAT?

  59. balweg balweg

    Golberg,

  60. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

  61. balweg balweg

WHAT? A nice question BE?

Kaya masakit sa aking kalooban but i need to accept the reality and truth bakit nangyayari ito sa ating bayan…mula ng ako ay nagkaisip at dumating sa edad na ito eh i tried my very best to be a good citizen and God fearing Pinoy, so that’s why i challenge anybody whoever under estimate our broken-hearted and less fortunate Kababayang Pinoys?

I have only a simple life and i’m still keeping it purely, so i can stand in their face with honor and dignity.

Galit ako sa taong mapang-api at mapanghusga sa kapwa-tao, but my anger is only according to the Lord’s standard.

  63. chi chi

I can not forgive the bitch for what she has done to my beloved country and people.

Forgiveness without justice in Gloria’s case is a plain hypocrisy. Justice first before forgiveness.

  65. bitchevil bitchevil

Balweg, why did Toney thank you? What for? You have not terminated the Evil Bitch yet.

  66. eddfajardo eddfajardo

  67. bitchevil bitchevil

You came from America just to join the rally? Come on. Anyway, good to hear that.

  68. “Dissent without action is consent”

Actions don’t have to be localised, eg, Manila — can be done abroad too by Filipinos living abroad.

Voltaire said, “One must be prudent, but need not be timid.”

Will see what’s being done this end. But I have an idea and am mulling the idea of bashing Gloria in a “public forum” but have got to think about the hosts, the ones who have issued the invitation. You see, I was thinking of accepting, for the first time ever, an all Filipino community Xmas party where I’m based and I’ve been tasked with making a contribution to the raffle… I was thinking of asking them if I could speak and if I’m given the mic, then I will just make short rant.

Seriously thinking of doing this even if I make an ass of myself (shit, what do I care!) because I know that most of the Filipino labouring people here are pro-Gloria (or at least that’s what I’ve been told.)

    We’ll see.

    We shall see…

  69. eddfajardo eddfajardo

Yes, Bitchevil, natapat lang na I’m back in Manila when this event is happening again. I’ve been in this similar situations before but looks to me our kababayans have been hopeless na sa mga ganitong pamamaraan.

Hangga’t may katulad nina BGen.

  72. Daldalan lang ba ito? I doubt!

  73. parasabayan parasabayan

Do not underestimate the power of “daldal”. Everyone you see, you should daldal against the evil bitch! This way, the effects would be exponential!

  74. chi chi

  75. I suggest each of us follow whats in our hearts, no need to have a pissing contest on whos more patriotic than who.
    Just do it

  76. bitchevil bitchevil

All our hearts call for the blood of the Evil Bitch !

  77. I suggest each of us follow whats in our hearts, no need to have a pissing contest on whos more patriotic than who.
    Just do it – juggernaut

    I second the motion.

  78. chi chi

    Indeed.

  79. bitchevil bitchevil

    I third the motion.

  80. balweg balweg

    kevrhimar,

Power of cydaldalan is very powerful if all concerned individuals have common goals and we understand each other point of views.

We need first to settle our differences and to write-down our main agenda before to move on, in such case we are all prepared to face any consequences and obstacle during our mobilization to fight the evil bitch and her minions.

Right now, ang masang Pinoy e still divided and they have owned agenda to pursue and we cannot meet our objectives if we are not aware or serious in our cause.

This cydaldalan has nothing wrong to do if we will pursue our open minded pont of views, comments, suggestions, recommendations etc. etc.

Let’s be fair and accept the reality that we are all looking and searching the best solutions in our political standoff against the evil bitch.

The ball is now in our hands so we need to be carefull on how and when we will kick-out the ass of the evil bitch?

Be patient, the roaring lion is ready to devour us if we all not carefull dealing with them. EDSA II, Oakwood and Manila Pen ano ang nangyari? Di ba pinulut lahat sa kangkungan!

  81. balweg balweg

    BE,

The table NOW is close! Let’s move on…

  82. bitchevil bitchevil

You should 4th the motion, balweg.

  83. kevrhimar kevrhimar

Maski si Gloria Dorobo, I bet you kilala ako!

We are here in fact to discuss how we can kick the criminal out of the palace by the murky river.

Lim.

  87. balweg balweg

    grizzy,

I’m proud of you…although we did not see each other, but true our www super highway communication…ang bilis ng ating ugnayan di ba.

Your courageous character and nationalistic love to our country is a good example to those who betrayed our constitution and beloved mother land.

This is my life and loyalty to our country and people but NOT to the evil bitch and her minions.
