Maganda at masaya.
May soup kitchen.
Closing down streets for any occasion is not a true right. MMDA should not allow it like what they do to those recalcitrant vendors. Cant they go where the El Shaddai do their thing and not create chaos to those road users tax payers?
The truth as the people see it…
http://www.policy.aim.edu/downloads/GLS/survey%20review%20SHORT%20VERSION.ppt
Valdemar,
We have bigger problems to attend to other than the inconvenience (albeit temporarily) of closing streets for these events. Unless you have a more compelling reason like losing a billion-dollar business or someone actually is dying in your car and you can’t get to the hospital on time because of the road closure – deal with it. A little sacrifice for a worthy cause won’t harm you…
Valdemar, El Shaddai has been using Luneta Park and other public places for their religious activities for free at the expense of tax payers. After their activities like prayer rallies, they leave the trashes and the place is a mess. With millions and even billions of funds this group gets from their members, not even a chapel is built for their gatherings after all these years. So, why don’t we allow Truth Festival to use the streets inasmuch as this is the only way to express their grievances against this government?
I hope this truth festival is not a one time affair. Secrecy is this government’s policy and the people’s right of information has been muzzled. Even the senate didn’t have its way in finding and exposing the truth, because the unconstitutional executive order always comes into play. What this government is doing is an insult to the democratic process of democracy.
This truth festival is one way of exposing and informing the people of the truth behind the anomalies, deceptions and lies of the government. The truth will set us free and so I hope more of this affair will be held in the future as a way to instill awareness to the people and help them make decisions and participate in shaping their future and of the country.
Sorry I missed the fiesta. I’d have gladly donated isang piso sampalin lang ang whore Gloria. I’m wondering if they’ve provided a private Johnny-On-The-Spot for limang piso to urinate on whore Gloria’s face?
Allong Rolly’s line…
I really want to see the great sharp shooter Gen. Martir head the forces in Mindanao right now. Can the government whip out the world-renowned reconditioned “chariots of warfare” that he is famous for. How about the “anti-coup” forces? Its time boys, “cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war!”
At the height of the rally which was about 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., puno talaga ang parteng yun ng Roxas Blvd at Baywalk.
We Have One Common Enemy.
Glad to hear that the Truth Fest was a success.
Malacanang would counter with its own Festival called False Festival.
Ellen, I’m glad to know that you enjoyed eating during the event. How much weight have you gained?
But Im glad that the event was a success one.Kailan naman ang sunod?
The Beijing Olympic ended with a spectacular closing ceremony.
Why didn’t Manny Pacquiao carry the RP flag again during the closing? Once again, RP comes home with zero medal. Not even recruiting Fil-Ams could help. Actually, these Fil-Am athletes were US rejects. They could have tried out for the US National Team but were rejected. At the most, they could be only good on the school level. It’s time that the government considers not sending any team again to the Olympic if our athletes cannot even qualify for the semi-finals.
be,
Be kind to our athletes, kahit papano they worked hard, but I hear there’s some problem with the selection though, that its still based on “bata system” and that there are better athletes but didn’t have a padrino.
Hi Ellen,
I’m glad the truthfest went well, no, more than expected! I’m still here at home recovering from flu, my wife will beat me up if I go. I hope we have another one so I can come this time.
The piso per sampal was a great idea…
Hi, Ellen,
I did not vote for him but at least he had the madate of the people, something we should have respected.
He’s an old man now, I believe he plans to spend the rest of his days being the good guy…chalk up some points with the man upstairs…
Jug, I’m not unkind to the athletes. It’s the people running the country’s sports. Politics and corruption have invaded even our sports.
Jug, rest and take plenty of water. Ako medyo bibigay na rin.
Kapinoyan, the problem between Erap and Lim…I know the reasons. I can assure you that it’s not Erap’s fault. Erap fired Lim. Lim had no choice but to tender his resignation.
Lim left the LP. Now he’s returning. If I’ve the chance, I may share with you what I know what went wrong between the two. Again, Erap was right in his decision.
PIS? Piso Isang Sampal. Hahaha.
Fred Lim dumped the Liberal Party after he lost in 1998 when he foolishly sought the presidency, he’s returning to LP again? And those idiots from LP, they’re accepting Lim only because they hate Lito Atienza of the “other” LP?
That’s why Philippine politics is a big mess.
The Erap-Lim conflict started with the garbage proposal. The current collector for San Juan was asking for the garbage contract right after Lim won. It was widely known that Totoy Uy of Leonel was pro-Atienza, so JV (not Jinggoy) sought a meeting where Lim, the garbage collector, and Erap were present (Erap was still in Tanay then). Lim promised and then sat on it until he later refused. So, Leonel was retained. It reached a point when Erap pleaded Lim to just grant three districts only: Sta. Mesa and Sampaloc, which are adjacent to San Juan. Nothing happened. Calinisan was sore at Lim. Again, because Lim kept promising. But, I don’t know the details about Calinisan. Alcoreza was just the public reason. He is close to Lito Atienza. During the time of Erap, Angara was mad at Alcoreza. Lito went to Erap, bringing Alcoreza. It was finally settled with Angara.
This time, the son-in-law of Lim who’s a former policemanan wants the slaughterhouse. There could be a huge offer.
Last June 24, Araw ng Maynila, Lim proclaimed Erap as one of Manila’s “most outstanding”. It’s a yearly ritual anyway. Erap gave word that he wouldn’t be able to attend. To please Erap, Lim sent a common friend, Manoling Robles to Greenhills. He brought a paper bag with P3 million. Erap angrily returned the money.
It seems like that bansot is using Lim or Lim himself is trying to bribe Erap. If Erap accepted the bribe then Lim can say that Erap accepted the bribe, complete with witnesses and documents. When election comes then Limm will use it against Erap if he accepted it.
BE, galing ng info mo a. Who is this Calinisan naman?
The relationship between Erap and Lim started to cool when former Police General Jose Calinisan and Gen. Diaz, both trusted lieutenants of Erap resigned from Lim’s staff. Calinisn is the former PRO3 Director while Diaz is Erap’s former PSG Chief. But the rift actually started right after Edsa Two. Lim was then DILG Secretary who was tasked to oversee the Police and Local Government. At the height of Erap’s ouster, Lim asked permission to leave the emergency cabinet meeting saying he was going to talk to these people. Then, Erap was surprised to see him on the stage with GMA and other officials who turned against Erap. However, Erap has a forgiving nature. I think it’s even his weakness. He forgave Lim just like he forgave others who betrayed him. Erap even endorsed/supported Lim as Senator and Mayor. Erap was the one who bankrolled Lim’s candidacy in Manila. If not for Erap, many stronger candidates from the opposition like Ping Lacson would have won as Manila Mayor. What an ingrate, this Lim !
Bitchevel,
Shame on the El Shaddai din pala.
Truth has been so elusive. Truth has many shades of colors. Truth has set us free to tell unfounded rumours. I wonder what kind of truth do we want to tell the people in church or at the TV programs and even in the “truth” newspapers. Or we just feel what we want is always the truth? Courts are not even the bastion of truth. There are three of them saying the truth. Otherwise all of them are liars.
BE, why did Calinisan and Diaz resign from Lim’s office? I learned only a few weeks ago that Diaz is no longer with Lim. Ano ba ang nangyari?
Hi!
What a big frustration for me bcoz I was not able to attend kinda rally. 1st I am not aware of the schedule & 2nd I was attending a seminar. Congrats to the organizer and I am expecting in the near future a big, big rally that all sectors of the society will join and will take action. Its been a long time since the patriotic Magdalo was in jail. I want to ask all bloggers this question, ” Aanhin pa ang damo kung patay na ang kabayo” Hindi ba dapat ang mga Bayani ay buhay habang sila ay binibigyan ng Parangal. Magdalo soldiers deserve this. They sacrifice everything for us and for the country.
From what I know, Lim denied some of Erap’s requests so that the latter could recover at least some of the money he spent for Lim last election. Erap’s loyalists whom Lim accommodated for a while, Lim removed. Lim was made President of Puwersa ng Masa without contributing a peso. Erap got fed up.
As for Calinisan and Diaz, they could have a project that could augment their income which Lim rejected. The reason why Calinisan and Diaz were in Lim’s staff was because the two helped Lim won the election. But, the two’s resignation was just among the many things Lim did to Erap. Erap lost his patience. Lim should realize that it was Erap who talked other candidates to withdraw running that led to Lim’s easy victory in Manila. Even Erap has fired Lim, Lim did not say anything against Erap because Lim knew he was to blame. Knowing Lim to be a tough person, he would have reacted strongly of his removal from the Party if he was wronged. I don’t think Lim would be able to request Cory to mediate. The problem got out of hand.
Also Ellen, the other reason was the demolition of Dealco Co., a slaughterhouse in Tondo owned by Councilor Alcoreza’s family. Delfin Alcoreza approached Erap for help to stop Lim from demolishing his slaughterhouse; but again, Lim denied Erap’s request. The elder Alcoreza and Erap were very good friends even before Erap became President. That all the more angered Erap.
There’s now a recall movement against Lim and many of the Barangay Officials have already signed. Let’s wait and see for further development.
BE,
My god! If this is the state of our opposition, no wonder Gloria managed to stay in power inspite of apparent incompetence. I pray we can et our act together soon or else we’ll see Gloria for the next 20 years or so (or Gloria clone).
Hence there was nothing Erap could use as a carrot for Lim to pander to his desires kaya in frustration, kung anu-ano ang mga pinagsasabi ngayon ni Erap na patutsada kay Lim.
Before, Erap chose to endorse FPJ over Lacson in the 2004 elections. Sayang, he could have validated this fear sana. 🙂
Anyway, Lim and Lacson appear to be twin bullheads. Add to them Bayani Fernando. Like Lim in 1998. Like Lacson in 2004. Maybe like BF in 2010.:-)
Whether you agree or not, Erap’s charm will be a factor in the coming election. Whoever he endorses will have a good chance.
This was proven in the last Senatorial election. Unfortunately for the Presidency, FPJ was cheated.
Kapinoyan, you said Fred Lim has conviction and principle? Oh yea? What did he do to Erap in Edsa Two? Yet, he had the balls to join Erap’s Party. He also bolted out the Liberal Party and now desires to return.
That was the right thing to do in 2001. In fact, the only right thing which the people could have done. And I do not regret being there to help make it happen.
Unlike the Catholic Church and many other leaders of that event, Fred Lim had not expressed regret having stood up for the cause of ousting an inept and bacchanalian presidency. That’s conviction.
Grudgingly admitted, Erap would still be a factor not only in the forthcoming elections, but in every affair of the state for as long as the actor in him lives. Look, he now parlays the role of a victim of injustice. But increasingly his imagined bailiwick, the masa, is not as caring anymore.
The politicos are his unthinking fans. They are deluded Erap’s horde is just behind him, but really all they see are their blind imaginings. Unfortunately, these politicos are the ones who have the stature and the means to see their thoughts in print, heard in the airwaves, and seen on tv. If Erap were truly that influential, John Osmena would still be a senator today. 🙂
Sorry, I don’t support Erap making a comback in Malacañang. He had his time, he bungled it. He does not have what it takes to become a chief executive.
Based on what Bitchevil related on his feud with Mayor Lim, Erap has not gotten over patronage politics which was the curse of his short term stint in Malacanang.
Away ng magnanakaw lang pala yun.
Why don’t you challenge and dare Erap to run and let’s see? I myself don’t want him to run again. But if only to unite the opposition and remove Gloria…and show skeptics like you that Erap still has the support of the masses, why not?
Gabriela, I always respect your opinion in this blog. But this time, I don’t agree that Erap bungled. He was a victim of grand conspiracy. He was betrayed by those people whom he trusted. And if you’re a member of the Gabriela group; I understand your position. Gabriela belongs to the many militant groups that shall keep on rising up against any government. Ever since, the Leftist groups has always been against the government. They’re pushing for a different ideology. Whoever the next leader is, these militants would continue to rally and march in the streets.
I agree that Erap has not totally gotten over patronage politics. It will always be part of our system the same way that traditional Filipino traits like “utang na loob” will always remain. On the other side of Erap, let’s not fail to see his natural kindness and forgiving character. Those principal players in his impeachment and ouster like Tito Guingona, Cory, Angie Reyes were forgiven by him. If only for his forgiving trait, I salute him.
kapinoyan,
Erap could have been an easier president to deal with compared to Gloria. He had the people’s mandate to start with, duly elected without the maneuverings ala “hello garci.” He may have been the least qualified president we had, but looking back, he still had some scrupples, there were lines he would not cross…now with Gloria, there are no lines. Before, it was patronage to monopolies, business, church, cronies, etc. with millions of Php jueting money involved, now its been elevated to patronage to foreign powers with millions of Usd involved.
If you ask me, we went from the frying pan and into the fire.
BE,
Gabriela is not with Gabriela, its just her handle.
Yes guys, we went from the “barya-barya” to high stakes treason…Rich countries like to throw their money around, why not cash in ourselves? Well, I gues some people have already. Gloria is an economist, do not let her fool you into thinking she is dumb. Inept at leadership maybe, but she’s a guru at filling up her purse, in this case Swiss bank account…
Thanks jug…but she speaks like that of a Gabriela. I’m not trying to defend Erap; but the man has his weaknesses and mistakes too. When you’re on top and the leader, you need to accommodate people as long as it’s not too much. Erap was into jueteng, yes. But, the bulk of the money went to his friends, projects and the Muslim Foundation. Now compare his to this Evil Bitch…all the money went and continues to go to the Pidal Family’s pocket.
I remember when Erap first became San Juan Mayor. He gathered all the gambling lords and told them to take it easy. If they wanted to continue, they must give a big share of their earnings to the San Juan Municipal. And that was what happened. From these funds, Erap was able to improve San Juan to what is is today. There are times when one has to be practical. This is not to say that condoning gambling and other illegal trades is okay. But, if one cannot totally eliminate them (tell me what place is clean), then playing the role of Robin Hood is not exactly that bad.
In the end, no one can dispute Erap’s love for the poor…and the poor love Erap. People have accepted Erap’s good points as well as bad points. Why can’t you?
And to further drive a point, do you know that gambling and other forms of vices are still rampant in Isabela and Pampanga? When Gov. Padaca got elected, she promised to end all forms of gambling in Isabela. But was she successful? No. When asked why, she replied “I cannot say no to my local leaders, the mayors who need it for their constituents.” Same with Gov. Panlilio who was even a Priest. Bong Pineda and his group are still lording over the jueteng business in Pampanga. Why can’t Panlilio stop them? So you see, Erap is not alone and will never be alone in failing to totally eliminate gambling. As I write, the casinos have tripled in Metro Manila and more in the Provinces. The Cagayan Port Irene, recently accused of illegally importing second hand vehicles, is also into gambling and casinos. Well, maybe someone like Ping Lacson could solve it. When he was the PNP Chief, he refused to accept the bribes offered by the gambling syndicates.
I agree with you perfectly, Juggernaut. We went from the frying pan into the fire. And it looks we’re even going somewhere hotter than fire, especially when choices are narrowed only between evils. GMA and Erap? Administration and Opposition? Erap to run just to unite the opposition? Is this all we’ve got for choices?
I wouldn’t want me to melt, and hence I’d always resist going along with the horde in a thoughtless journey to hell. No, I refuse that these are our only choices.
I believe we are a nation of many true patriots. It is just that the public seems not to notice because it is the haystack of trapos that always hog media attention.
If we can only group together and start early enough, we can help catapult the likes of Kapatiran (remember them from the 2007 elections?) into public consciousness, and eventually into the helm of government.
BE,
Panlilio is trying to stop them, now he’s been isolated, persecuted, and in danger of being “recalled.” The mayors have lost so much business opportunities already.
If Panlilio loses this battle, the country has lost its one instance of true people power election, that is, not beholden to any patrons and once again allow the old ways to reign.
Lacson was a “loose cannon” even in Erap’s time, but the damage he caused was “managed” by transfers and a promotion (he was successfully neutralized by transferring him to the capital).
Kapinoyan,
Agreed on Kapatiran, I met Atty. Lacson once and bought a couple of his books. Although I admire these people, I can’t help but have a doubt in my mind if they can pull it through, they’re too clean, idealistic, and uncompromising. Its fairly obvious that they are not proficient with the “wheeling and dealing” thats been the hallmark of Philippine politics.
Can we do a “Panlilio” on a widescale basis as in nationwide? Then again, the priest won in Arroyo’s bailiwick, without the millions needed to campaign, there must be a chance…there has to be…
I agree with you, why does it always have to be a choice between two evils? We deserve someone “good” this time, the people have suffered enough…
kapinoyan,
I too was part of the “oust Erap” movement. I really didn’t expect Gloria would do this, all the time I was thinking she would just act as “caretaker” while the the administration does damage control to Erap’s blunders and while we are still looking for a viable “leader.” I assumed she would step down gracefully to the will of the people for the sake of the country…
The problem with Erap in giving his generous forgiveness to everyone is bordering on katangahan. Why? It seems to me that for Erap to give his forgiveness to someone as if there is a condition attached. As if Erap has to prove to that someone, that gravely wronged him, his sincerity. As if Erap is saying to those he had forgiven like….. ok I had forgiven you and as a proof you can sleep with my wife. By the way, that’s an extreme example to drive my point.
What I am saying is if you had forgiven someone it is unconditional. You don’t have to prove anything. You had forgiven them and that’s it.

“That was the right thing to do in 2001. In fact, the only right thing which the people could have done. And I do not regret being there to help make it happen.”
Ang kapal ng mukha mo, pare. What is right about it? Removing a constitutionally elected president of the republic who has a landslide victory and had the most votes in presidential history. It is right to remove him by coup d’etat? Erap never hindered the impeachment just like what this bansot is doing by giving bribe to them. Why they did not go thorough the impeachment, huh? Instead, they used the orchestrated mob rule.
Yeah, that’s what you call kapal ng mukha mo conviction.
etcetera,
I believe that what Kapinoyan means is that it is right to get rid of a president that did not come up to our expectations, whether it was Erap, Marcos, or even Gloria. It could have been our “crowning glory” as a democratic country and determined people if it was not a “misguided” one. We have to admit it, we were taken for a ride. The movement was well meant though. Gloria managed to take advantage of the fact also that after that debacle people are now wary of similar movements, conditioning our minds that “pare-paraho lang lahat” and whoever we will replace her with will be even worst…
What kapinoyan wants to point out is that we should not settle for any less evil, but choose a leader that is not evil at all. I know you get the point, right?

What do you mean by that?

“The politicos are his unthinking fans. They are deluded Erap’s horde is just behind him, but really all they see are their blind imaginings. Unfortunately, these politicos are the ones who have the stature and the means to see their thoughts in print, heard in the airwaves, and seen on tv.”
Are you saying that during the election of 1998, the media was biased toward Erap? What a joke. During that time, the media went in all direction in their choice for the presidency.
Are you saying that the media is biased now toward Erap because he is a victim of injustice?
juggernaut / Kapinoyan…. nice exchange of thoughts!
buti pa si Gloria maraming na pera. ung ibang nagttrabaho sa gobyerno, wala! when will we wake up. lalo na ung militar, kelan tayo magigising sa katotohanan niloloko lang tayo ng gobyernong it. gamit ang retorikong “professionalism” and “insulated from politics” nagagawang magbulag bulagan tayong lahat. baka mamamatay tayong di pa nasisilayan ang bukang liwayway.
Etcetera is obviously angry. It shows in his choice of words. It could be his rage caused him to completely misapprehended the context of my earlier comments.
Relax lang. Peace po sa lahat.
When the SC Chief was administering oath to GMA at Edsa, “Acting President” was mentioned. You guys know what “acting” means. How she became the President was as a result of the effort of Davide’s effort in making her installation constitutional. Erap was not sick; he never resigned. He temporarily stepped down to avoid blood shed. The impeachment was stopped due to those anti-Erap walking out.
I agree that Erap’s forgiving attitude is a weakness. I can even imagine that if Chavit Singson would be humble enough to apologize, Erap might also forgive him. I don’t think Erap expected something in return in forgiving his enemies.
If there were favors given to him, I think they could be given voluntarily by these people who he forgave to show appreciation and gratitude. The issues between Erap and Lim were different.
opps, Erap bashing? I did not vote for the guy, but he deserved to complete his term of office. Erap’s impeachment was well monitored by media and we are witness to what went on. Injustice davide was already in cahoots with gloria, who with fat boy has been salivating to takeover Erap’s presidency. I watch the impeachment but did not agree the way injustice davide acted. More when he ended up swearing in gloria and ruling on the case later. So, kapinoyan, here we are suffering gloria instead of Erap. Let him be.
Half if not majority of those who joined the ouster of Erap in Edsa 2 regret doing it. Some reconciled with Erap; some even became his supporters today. What does this indicate? It was a mistake ousting him. Years after Marcos was ousted, Marcos bashing also was the game of the day. But when people saw how Cory governed; how his brother’s Kamag-anak Inc. milked the country, how the late Cardinal Sin influenced her every decision, people began to change their opinion about Marcos. Some even went as far as asking “Were we better off during Cory’s term than Marcos?” Same question is being asked today. We now ask: Will we commit the same mistake if we oust Gloria? This time, the answer is a big NO !
Even the late cardinal sin apologized to Erap. This is the time for bashing Gloria.
Did the late Cardinal Sin apologize to Erap? How could he do that in his grave? Nope. I never heard about Sin’s apology.
Had he done it, it would be widely publicized. Sin (RIP) was known for his arrogance and meddlesome attitude. At the height of Edsa 2, Sin ordered Cory and Davide to go to Edsa. If Sin really wanted to redeem himself, he would have done something to GMA while he was still alive. But no, between 2001 and until his death, he did nothing and allowed GMA to mess the country.
BE,
Its in YouTube, before he died of course, I just can’t find it again, I’m looking…
bitchevil, yes never heard too that RIP sin apologized to Erap. Even his adjutant now a bishop never mentioned an apology did happen. But I guess Erap has forgiven sin. Its the guys fault, being forgiving. I don’t know if Erap has forgiven davide, do you know if he did or didn’t?
Jug, Sin might have apologized to Erap when he was already in heaven or hell. Erap might have forgiven Sin but not his sin.
Only Christ can forgive our sins.
The only Bishop who openly apologized was Bishop Tobias. Sin’s protege Bishop Soc Villegas never apologized too when in fact he was Sin’s close adviser.
I suggest that let’s drop the topic about Sin since the man is already dead. There’s a saying that we should not speak ill of a dead person. However, it’s an undeniable fact that Sin played a major role to the sufferings of the country today. Many well meaning Catholics left the Church since 1986 because of Sin.
“Many well meaning Catholics left the Church since 1986 because of Sin.” – be
Pun intended ha? 🙂
Lesson: Abide and give full respect to the Pinas Constitution!
bitch, reur marcos ouster: i admired the guy. his 1st term made the filipinos proud…we were the envy of asia. his departure to hawaii produced lots of version of why and how. reagan before he went to bed instructed bush not to touched him…but, anyway, looking back, getting him out of the country was the best option since he was a very sickly.
if he stayed, imelda would have taken over assisted by gen ver and the romualdez clan….while aquino was the worse imelda would have been a nightmare.
coel, that was why Ninoy hurriedly returned to Manila because he learned Marcos was very sick. When Ninoy was killed, Marcos was under surgery or undergoing dialysis treatment. He could not have masterminded it. After learning Ninoy was killed, Marcos threw an ashtray to Gen. Ver during the meeting. According to sources (not from me), it was Imelda-Danding-Ver who planned it. Some say Ver was not one of them because the man was 100% loyal to Marcos. He would not do anything without Marcos’ order. Some say it was then Gen. Custodio, then Avsecom Chief, who took care of operation. But, the guy is long dead now. Another theory was FVR (on order of CIA?). Remember, he was then the number two highest military official next to Ver. Ramos was the PC (Philippine Constabulary) Chief and AFP Vice Chief of Staff. You may say the above are mere speculations. But, it’s worth analyzing. One thing is certain, Marcos was not part of it.
bitch: i am one visayan that admired him. in his prime no one came close to what he has accomplished…..take it or leave it..this is solely my opinion.
coel, I hope you don’t call me Bitch. I prefer Evil.
Evil, now?: this sounds better than of course the previous. mine was without malice.
It was Neri who called GMA Evil; and it was Gov. Salceda who called GMA Bitch. That’s why I call Gloria Arroyo Evil Bitch and my handle becomes bitchevil.
