“THE LAW APPLIES TO ALL OTHERWISE NONE AT ALL” is a famous line from an American President adopted by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim while still in the active service as a police officer. The phrase amply describes the application of the law in a democratic society such as ours. In the preservation of democracy, many of our country’s finest men and women, from Lapu-lapu to our latest battle casualties, have laid their lives for our country.
Last Feb 25, 2008, the leadership of the AFP ad the PNP staged a walk of UNITY along EDSA under the glare of the media. “Televised for the world to see”, according to General Esperon, “it was spontaneous”, like all the flops that happened. It was another big lie!
Days before it was made, a directive made it a mandatory duty for all police and military officers. Esperon said that we should let democracy work but he made hostage all the service commanders to toe the line otherwise their future in the AFP will be short-lived. If we were ordinary citizens, may be his mantra for democracy would have somehow earned brownie points against his being labeled as “HELLO GARCI” general, a moniker that will follow every “Esperon” who will ever step on this planet. Lest you forget sir, let us refresh your memory
Two years ago sir, you have accused, investigated and caused the imprisonment of fellow cavaliers whom you said, attempted to join the people’s march at EDSA, the same route your feet actually trampled upon. Today, these officers continue to languish in jail despite the fact that they were cleared by the investigating panel, the result of which you caused hidden for almost six months. If it were not for the internet copy, it would have disappeared into thin air like the “Mayuga Report”.
The attempted march Sir was their response to the public clamor to know the TRUTH behind the “Hello Garci” scandal which was dividing the nation. It was intended to show the people that their Armed Forces stand by what is right and will support the search for truth. Truth is an essential element of democracy for it is the only way where we can hold every citizen accountable for their actions, whatever their status maybe. Today marks two events, two years apart. As fellow cavaliers, we can’t help but seek answers from you sir.
Sir, in the language of law, there exist an ocean of difference between an attempted and a consummated act. For allegedly attempting to march at EDSA, you sent fellow cavaliers to prison. On the other hand, you directed other officers to join you in a walk at EDSA and actually consummated the act. Have you ever thought or accepted to be punished by imprisonment along with those whom you forced to walk with you?
On the nobleness of purpose, your prisoners were only demanding for the truth which, if it were left to hang will blemish the entire AFP. On the other hand, you said you marched for unity. Unity for what sir?
You have linked arms with Sir Razon who doesn’t even know the difference between kidnapping and protection! What would dispute an unmarked passport “mamang pulis”? Our fellow cavaliers, whom you imprisoned, and who attempted to march at EDSA to join the masses in their military uniform, just like you did….would they remain free today if you were in their company, sir?
If you have discovered that the attempted march of your prisoners were meant to hail Gloria to the high heavens, would you still have reason to bastardize the military justice system by sending the AFP spokesperson to relay your marching orders to the panel every hearing sir? Again to reiterate, these officers were never part of your scandal, they just wanted to preserve democracy by protecting the ballot as a fountain of free choice – the power emanates from the conscience of the governed. We have detainees in the AFP because of your questionable involvement in the “Hello Garci” scandal. Because of this, our idealistic senior officers were prompted to call for an investigation to preserve the institution and democracy. You have failed to explain satisfactorily your involvement thus it leaves a bad taste in the mouth whenever you speak of democracy.
We agree that we should be united along with our partners in the PNP to preserve democracy. You have to submit yourself in the equal treatment of the law and immediately incarcerate yourselves if you truly believe marching at EDSA in military uniform is a crime at all. Remember the basic doctrine of leadership, “do as I do”, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. You have caused the division in the AFP and effectively prevented the rule of law. No wonder, nobody respects you at all Mister Esperon sir.

We, the junior officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, feel utterly embarrassed by the irrational actions of our senior officers who marched at EDSA last 25 February. While they call it “Unity Walk”, we see it as a depraved display of partisan politics. That walk of unity might as well be called a “WALK OF SHAME”. We enjoin all decent-minded CAVALIERS to put a stop to Mrs Arroyo and Esperon’s blatant corruption of our organization. This has got to STOP, Sirs!!!

Professionalism in the armed forces and adequate remuneration and benefits of its member shall be a prime concern of the State. The armed forces shall be insulated from partisan politics. No member of the military shall engage, directly or indirectly, in any partisan political activity, execpt to vote.” And, so help me god. As you can see as shown on the picture an evidence, rule of law to these corrupt military, matter not. They’re nothing but scamp, good-for-nothing. The only things they’ll respect are brown bags coming their way. I also wonder, if they obtain a rally permit to be on the street? What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. “Armed forces shall be insulated from partisan politics?” Does it mean anything to those parading for evil bitch Gloria?

Chi, I heard that Yano is more decent than the other senior officers. But seeing him march with these vultures made me doubt what I heard about him. But according to the letter of the junior officers, asspweron made this march a mandatory one instead of what he alleges that it was spontaneous. Those who refused to march would have gotten a memo of non-compliance, maybe even a demotion. I could see the displeasure in Yano’s face! This asspweron is really a shameless cheat of staff. Personally, I am sick and utterly tired of all these anonymous military officers and soldiers thinking that everything is about them. As far as I’m concerned, this country would be better off without these meddling military men and women–and I call it both ways, whether pro-GMA military puppies or anti-GMA military adventurists (or wannabes). More so these anonymous bastards who think they can threaten (it is a threat) the government and civilians with their military might. If these junior officers are so brave, why hide behind the cloak of anonymity?
This tradition of military supremacy over civilian rule should end. We civilians should wield the power and not the other way around: heat…kitchen…out.
