On the eve of Brig. Gen. Danny Lim’s appearance at the Makati Regional Court hearing (Nov. 29, Thursday, 9 a.m.) on the so-called Oakwood mutiny in July 2003 by the Magdalo officers, two statements were posted at the Sundalo website.
One is this statement by “Para sa Bayan”:
We presently find in existence a dangerous concept where the armed forces now owe their primary allegiance and loyalty to those who temporarily exercise the authority of the executive branch of the government rather than to the country and the Constitution they have sworn to protect.
That is a concept we defy and struggle to eradicate.If you believe you are a man of will and courage with unselfish motives and brave enough to fight against such tyranny, RISE UP AND BE COUNTED!
Para sa Bayan (PSB)
Another one is this statement by the 26 enlisted personnel dishonorably discharged from service by AFP Chief Hermogenes Esperon after they were detained without charges for 18 months. Their lament:
Dahil Ba Sa Kami ay EP Lamang
Heneral Esperon sir, kami ay EP (Enlisted Personnel) lamang subalit hindi ibig sabihin na kaming lahat ay mangmang. Kami ay iyong ipinatanggal sa serbisyo pagkatapos mo kaming ikinulong sa Tanay ng halos dalawang taon na walang asunto o kaso. Kung sa iyong paniniwala kami ay nagkasala dahil sa pagsunod sa legal na utos ng mga nakapangyayari sa amin, hindi ba dapat kami ay imbestigahan din kasama ang aming mga opisyal? Sa kasalukuyan, ang aming mga opisyal ay humaharap pa sa paglilitis, subalit kami ay iyong hinatulan na ma-discharge. Dahil ba sa hindi mo kaya ang magigiting at marangal naming mga opisyal, kung kaya’t kami ay ang iyong pinagbalingan? Dahil ba sa kami ay EP lamang.
Kung iyong maalaala, kami ang mga inaasahan mong mga sundalo noong tayo ay nasa Central Mindanao at Basilan. Buong tapang kaming nakikipaglaban at isinaalangalang ang aming sarili sa kapamahakan para sa demokrasya ng ating bayan. Nasabi mo pa ng dahil sa mga nagawa namin ay nakamit mo ang mga bituin sa iyong balikat. Tiningala namin ang mga bituin na noon sa aming paningin ay tanging nagniningning at umasa na siyang magsisilbing ilaw sa ating sandatahang lakas.
Sa iyong pakakadawit sa Hello Garci scandal, kami ay nalungkot at umasa na ikaw ay hindi kasama. Sumuporta kami sa panawagan ng isang kapanipaniwalang imbestigasyon, na sya ring gusto ng aming mga pinuno, upang sa gayun ay hindi lalong mabahiran pa ang reputasyon ng mga kasundaluhan. Kami ay naniniwala na ang botohan ay siyang batayan ng demokrasya at kailanman di dapat lapastanganin at babuyin ng sinuman. At lalong hindi dapat maging kasangkapan ang sundalo sa anumang dayaan dahil ang kanyang serbisyo ay para sa bayan at hindi para sa isang tao o grupo lamang.
Kami ay naghintay na sana lumabas ang buong katotohanan. Sa pagtatago ninyo sa Mayuga Report, lalo ninyong ibinaon ang inyong reputasyon sa putikan at umayon sa mga ganid sa kapangyarihan, pera at kamunduhan. Iginuhit ninyo ang inyong pangalan sa kasaysayan kasama ang inyong grupo bilang Hello Garci generals na nagdulot ng matinding kahihiyan sa hukbong sandatahan.
Sir, malapit ka nang magretiro at magkakasama din tayo bilang sibilyan. Sa iyong paglabas, bawat makasalamuha mong tao ay kikilalanin ka bilang Hello Garci heneral at ang namumukod tanging heneral na umiiyak sa harap ng telebisyon dahil sa hindi kuno pagtakbo sa halalan ng isang sinungalin na politiko. Ang tanging namumunong heneral ng sandatahang lakas ng Pilipinas na binato ng bugok na itlog at kamatis ng mga estyudyante. Ito ba sir ang iyong pabaon sa iyong paglisan sa hukbong sandahatan?
Para sa amin, ang pagkatanggal sa serbisyo ay tanging mga kabuhayan ng aming mga pamilya ang naapektuhan nguni’t hindi ang dignidad ng aming pagkatao. Taas noo pa rin kaming haharap sa sambayanang Pilipino sapagkat ang aming serbisyo ay walang bahid ng katiwalian KAHIT NA KAMI AY MGA EP LAMANG!

these officers and enlisted personnel are virtually helpless when pitted against the oppressor esperon. they certainly have ranged against them all the powers that be, including the systems of justice. with how events unfold, you’d realize that anything bound for the cause of justice is automatically persecuted by those in power and all is done to keep them in chains.

Esperon’s evil deeds are always at the expense of his officers and personnel. Likewise, government’s evil deeds are always at the expense of the people. these powerful but merciless tyrants just do not know what they are doing… they really do not know the damage they continue to cause..
These EPs are Gen Lim’s underlings. It must have really pained him to see his men dishonorably discharged. EPs are the “workers” of the military. Those in the higher positions couldn’t possibly carry on a mission without them. They are the first ones to fight and die! To treat them like disposable “items” is just horrendous! I wonder what impact this action of asspweron to these EPs will have to the EPs still in service? It can deliver a wrong message-why work so hard to follow the chain of command when you end up losing your job anyway. So the EPs will just take things for granted in the field. They will no longer strive to fight hard!

Bishops join Trillanes, Lim meeting in Makati – reports

Two Catholic bishops critical of the Arroyo administration went to the Manila Peninsula hotel where Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Brigadier Gen. Danilo Lim proceeded after walking out of a Makati City courtroom.
Novaliches Bishop Antonio Tobias, Infanta Bishop Emeritus Julio Labayen as well as Fr. Robert Reyes were seen going into the hotel room where Trillanes and Lim held a closed-door meeting, separate reports said.
News coverage teams were barred from entering the meeting room, and were told to stay at the third floor lobby. Trillanes’ group reportedly assured that journalists will be given updates.
Former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr, a critic of President Arroyo, joined Trillanes and Lim in marching along Makati Avenue from the court room. – GMANews.TV

Gen. Lim’s Withdrawal of Support Statement
“Today, we address all decent Filipinos to announce that now is the time to end the sufferings and miseries inflicted upon us by the illegitimate Gloria Macapagal Arroyo government and start a new life, a new Philippines. The die is cast pursuant to our constitutional mandate as protector of the people and state.
And by these acts the officers and men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police supported by the masses of our people and the various political forces give substance to the constitutional provisions which says the Philippines is a democratic and republican state.
Sovereign peace resides in the people and all government authority emanate from them. That we take the faithful steps of removing Mrs Arroyo from the presidency and undertake the formation of a new government.
Mrs Arroyo had occupied the presidency under a questionable mandate publicly disputed by a vast majority of Filipinos. She stole the presidency from President Estrada through unconstitutional and deceitful means and later manipulated the results of the 2004 elections to perpetuate herself in power.
We have individually and collectively tried all means to resolve this legitimacy issue through the normal electoral, juidicial, and congressional processes but Mrs Arroyo used naked power through the issuance of Executive Order 464 and other executive proclamations and the sheer weight of numbers to paralyze the impeachment process procured at the people’s great expense to fustrate us at every turn.
After all these have failed our people tried to air their grievances in peaceful street assemblies. They thought they were exercising a combination of constitutional right which no official or agency of government may legally abridge but they were stopped and dispersed violently with cannons from firemen and truncheons from the police.
The abuses of our government continue the deliberate the deliberate refusal or failure of the dubious leaders to castigate and prosecute the people responsible for the scandalous Hello, Garci electoral cheating, the Joc-joc Bolante multi million peso fertilizer scam, Impsa bribery, the Jose Pidal and Jueteng scandals involving billions of public funds, the North Rail Project, scandal, the Venable contract scandal, the NBN scandal, the wholesale bribery of congressmen in Malacañang as well as the unabated and unresolved extrajudicial killings of citizens particularly journalists and members of the judiciary and the use of military and police officers for some unlawful mission.
Among others, these are clear proof of her failure for good and decent governance. There are numerous illegal and immoral activities and transactions conducted by these government with impunity that betray the citizens and the state of their pristine right to exist as a people with decency, dignity and integrity.
With all the avenues closed by the use of naked force, no other means remain but for the officers and men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to exercise their constitutional mandate and to take the side of the sovereign people against this illegitimate and unjust president.
We take due indulgence and apologize for any untoward disruptions attendant to fighting this righteous cause.
We are confident that the will of the sovereign people will prevail. The end of the corrupt and vicious government and its bogus leaders is long overdue.
We support the political and economic reforms that will be initiated by the new government regardless of the personal cause it may impose on each one of us.
We therefore call on our people and all the government around the world to give the constitutional rescue initiated by our patriotic brothers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police a chance to work.
To the task of organizing a new government and pursuing a program of total and no nonsense reform, we commit our full support.
We shall do whatever we can too to prevent any backsliding to the corruption and abuse of power of the immediate past and advance the cause of truth, freedom and justice, peace and progress for all Filipinos. God bless the Filipino people. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas.”

as lay member of the Catholic Church, i likewise enjoin my fellow church members to reflect on the statement of Bishop Ted Tobias, of Diocese of Novaliches (Quezon City) to support the men of honor in and out of the military service.
during normal times, i would definitely frown on people resorting to extra-constitutional measures and only those suffering from delusion would claim that the country is in tranquility with our present scumbags-administrators .
however, as heaps and piles of horrifying mis-governance affecting the nation, and open plundering not only of national coffers but as well as the collective honor of our race; i must say, Go with God !, Go and Support Unselfishly these selfless individuals wanting to redeem our national pride and honor.
