Nangyari ang pagpasabog ilang minuto pasado 8 p.m. ng Martes ng gabi sa Southwing ng Batasan. Palabas ang mga kongresista, palapit sa kanilang mga kotse ng sumabog ang bomba.
Iba-iba ang theory tungkol sa pagsabog. Wala pang umaamin at wala pa ring siguradong findings ang Philippine National Police. Ang sigurado lang ay bomba ang pumutok, hindi methane gas na sinasabi nilang nangyari sa Glorietta.
Madaling i-rule out ang Abu Sayyaf dahil di ba kasama doon si Akbar? Isa siya sa mga orihinal ng Abu Sayyaf at sinasabi ng marami na hanggang ngayon malapit siya sa mga yun.
Ang itinuturo ng pamilya ay ang mga kalaban sa pulitika. Ngunit masyadong malakas at tatak professional ang gumawa ng pagsabog. Mahirap yata magawa yun ng mga pulitikong taga-Mindanao sa hindi nila teritoryo.
Mayrun din nagsasabi ng baka vendetta ng mga elemento sa military, lalo na ang mga Marines, dahil sa trahedya na nangyari sa kanila noong mga nakaraang buwan kung saan sampu sa kanilang nasawing kasamahan sa ambush at pinugutan ng ulo. Marami ang usa-usapan na sangkot doon si Akbar.
May mga nagsasabi rin na pwede rin baka isang grupo sa military na sa kanilang pag-analyze ng problema sa Mindanao, lalo na ang problema ng loose firearms, si Akbar ang isang hadlang sa kanilang operasyon para magkaroon ng kapayapaan doon.
Alaga kasi si Akbar ng pamahalaan, lalo na kay Gloria Arroyo, dahil sa mga boto na kanyang binibigay kahit walang botohan. Sa Hello Garci tapes, maririnig doon ang papel ni Akbar doon sa pagmanipula ng resulta ng eleksyon. Minsan nga wala ng eleksyon.
Sabi ng iba, baka raw naisip na ng pamahalaan na nagiging halimaw na ang kanilang alaga kaya kailangan mawala na. Ngunit maari nilang gawin yun na hindi madamay ang iba.
Ang isang theory naman ay pakana ito ni Arroyo at ng kanyang mga tauhan para may rason para magdeklara ng emergency rule. Hindi niya sasabihing martial law ngunit ganoon na rin yun.
Kahit ano pa man, hindi pa rin maaring sang-ayunan ang paggamit ng dahas. Lalo pa maraming inosente ang nadadamay.
Ngunit dapat siguro mag-isip-sip rin ang mga miyembro ng kongreso na tumino sila. Kung hindi nila matigil ang kurakutan, ang pagpakatuta kay Arroyo, bawas-bawasan naman nila.
Sa ngayon lang, kapag tanunngin mo ang mga tao, walang masyadong naaawa sa kanila.Isipin dapat ng mga kongresista na walang silbi ang bayung-bayong perang kanilang hinahakot kapang mapuno at umalsa na ang taumbayan.

Wahab Akbar has requested a favor from govt on a project, but was turned down…as if he didnt have enough of those “grants” and accomodations last elections. Intentionally or not or even incidentally, he started talking/engaging the anti-GMA forces, and the opposition. (Review the narration of Sandra Cam on the details of her last conversations with him.) And why also the renewed ties with Cam at this time of political uncertainty and GMA’s shaky hold of the presidency. Akbar is an Erap fan and friend. When Erap was released he was among the first ones to invite the former president to visit his province. Erap was about to consider the trip. Akbar may just be as guilty as hell as this government for many irregularities, and the govt has tolerated that, but not when he toyed with the military. The military is an institution that GMA must take care of and appease at this time, they knew too well how Akbar played his cards in the Arroyo game and GMA must now show who or what matters most. One man vs the institution’s credibility hanging on the mercy of this man. The choice has to be made and the line has to be drawn. Only the President thru a reasonable national security assessment can say when enough is enough. A tact so known only to this lady.
No matter how “colorful” Akbar’s background would have been, his own bomb against this government could just be as devastating as the bomb that took his life.

I think the Abu Sayyaf (or MILF) angle seems to be weak, reading from Mon Tulfo’s recent article. Akbar’s July speech also practically indicted the govt (esp. military establishment) – http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=99068. He could have earned the ire of powerful officials.
Complicity and complacency are related. GMA and Esperon are always super praning. Remember that they jailed some of our good men in Tanay and the Magdalo because of the remote possibility that they would retaliate against Malacanang.
In fact, si Gino Guinolbay, wala namang ebidensya sa kanya, but he’s in jail, in part because some bright boy spread the rumor that in case of a coup, he would lead the charge to Malcanang. Whoa! looks like the suspects (according to the police) are the Abus. If you ask people from Basilan, including Akbar’s relatives, they will tell you something different. For me, the Abus are the last guys to be linked to the bombing. Though Akbar denied it, his link with the Abus is undeniably strong.
The bombing incident is more likely a handiwork of experts who are already based in Manila, and have connections with powerful officials (if they are not powerful themselves). Blaming the laxity of security won’t deflect suspicion, a a non-sensical police theory. Piecing together those possibilities would point to people who play around with power and have utmost disregard of human values.

Senator Pimentel is also in the dark concerning the agreement with the MILF (under the auspices of the Malaysians in KL) for the carving of a Muslim homeland in Mindanao. He reckons it will spawn more trouble.

One thing I notice is that the Muslims at bar or under investigation are very truthful. They accept their deeds promptly and even proud of it and no need for liars, I mean lawyers.

Even in the military circles, they are very careful already, as several have been in stockade because of sending emails (personal comments about the government) and even the marine spokesperson was not spared when he asked questions about the “beheadings” earlier as he is expected to follow a “scripted” statement. They say the bomb was not intended for Akbar, it was another “scare tactic” supposedly to move the congressmen to allow the declaration of “emergency rule.” If the military really wanted Akbar dead, they could have easily used a “sniper” fast, clean, and surgical. Unfortunately, nobody is in the mood for “emergency rule” anymore. The HSA will be declared not viable, and there will be more attempts to scare the government and the people to allow drastic measures to be taken.
Lets not blame the muslims too much, honestly, in my younger years I have witnessed how the military can be very cruel. My friend was abducted around 2am, brought to camp, there he was stripped, beaten, and interrogated just because he said “Migs, beer pa” when we were drinking at a local bar. When I was pleading, practically begging the officer that he was my classmate, I showed him IDs, both school and ROTC (as he was an officer also) it was only then that I found out he was taken because he impersonated a military intelligence officer or “MIGs.” I had to explain to them that what he meant was “migs” or “miga” meaning friend na babae in bisaya hence, “migs, beer pa.” Apparently, there were soldiers at the other table who overheard him that night. It was when I offered to call our dean that they relented, good thing I brought his clothes because he was practically naked.
Now my muslim friend is a high ranking police officer in Maguindanao, and if the muslims can get their “independent state” he will be one of the first to get a star.
