Senators revive call on Gloria to resign

Senators yesterday renewed demands for President Arroyo to resign, saying her “misgovernance” is pushing the country to the brink of political upheaval.
“President Arroyo should resign and turn over the government to Vice President de Castro as caretaker until 2010,” Senate minority leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. said.
Majority leader Francis Pangilinan said Arroyo’s resignation is the only constitutional solution to avert civil war.
Pangilinan’s statement was also a reaction to the claim of President Fidel Ramos during the July 2005 political crisis that there is no possible substitute if ever Arroyo steps down.
“Meron tayong Saligang Batas na nagsasabi, kapag nagbitiw sa tungkulin ang Pangulo o kaya’t matanggal sa isang impeachment process, ang papalit ay ang Vice President. So itong sinasabing civil war o itong sinasabing political stalemate, may solusyon ito. Magbitiw sa tungkulin (ang Presidente) and let the constitutional successor take over,” Pangilinan said.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson said time is running out for President Arroyo.
“If Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., an acknowledged supporter and ally of this administration, can speak of numbness to corruption by Mrs. Arroyo, how would the rest of our people think of their president?” Lacson asked.
“Malacañang must be concerned when our people, amid the spectacle of brazen stealing, shameless lying and unprecedented hubris by any leader of this country, become numb enough to force another ouster,” he said.
“The country cannot afford any more unconstitutional changing of the guard, lest we live up to become Asia’s most prominent ‘banana republic.’ I cannot help but give an advice, unsolicited as it is, to Mrs. Arroyo: Reform now. Your time may be running out,” he said.
Press secretary Ignacio Bunye said Arroyo has a mandate to serve until 2010.
“We maintain that the Armed Forces are loyal to their commander-in-chief and they will adhere to the chain of command as far as that mandate is concerned,” he said. – With Jocelyn Montemayor
We need a President who can stand there, look at us straight in the eyes and give us the terrible, awful, sad truth. For once, we would love to have a president who doesn’t throw his or her spin-doctor rhetoric at us.
He or she would see the truth as a non-negotiable necessity .He or she would see full-disclosure and transparency as a tool of a functioning democracy and not an enemy to his or her plans.

PRESIDENT Fidel Ramos yesterday denied a statement of Environment secretary Lito Atienza that he gave cash gifts to lawmakers and local officials during his term from 1992 to 1998.

I believe him. Easy to distribute cash from the contingency funds, why go through the trouble of breaking the rules? Perhaps, she wants to make the “bribees” believe that the money is hers and hers alone and so when they receive their bag of money, they are expected to be personally be beholden to her. Problem with Gloria is she’s so used to breaking the rules that bribery has become second skin to her.

Bienvenido Abante, listed in the House website as a “Minister of Gospel,” Wednesday admitted receiving five bundles of P100,000 each, or a total of P500,000, from a person wearing a barong shirt — one of many involved in the distribution — during a breakfast hosted by the President last Thursday.
Abante said Ms Arroyo herself was present during the distribution of cash.
“The men in barong came out and began handing out paper bags, the floral type, glossy,” the congressman said in a telephone interview.
He said the bundles of cash were right inside the paper bag with no more wrap or cover.

The staffer refused to be party to such shenanigan and left.

I have all the admiration for the AFP when in 2000 they were able to capture all the bases of the MILF, including Camp Abubakar, which the MILF claimed, will never fall… inspite of the prediction of failure for these endeavors of their good for nothing ex-commander in chief FVR … ( and thank goodness for ERAP’s stubborn refusal to halt the offensive against pressures from these creatures who stole the AFP modernization funds… )
That goes to show that when the cause is just, inspite of the inadequacies and no American troops involved, the AFP can…

I don’t think that death penalty should apply to ERAP… it was a kangaroo court that convicted him… walang pinagkaiba yan sa kangaroo court that sentenced and hanged Gen. Yamashita in WW2. But I will strongly agree that it should be applied to the next one… but I am still willing to give those B@#tards their day in court! However, hang them when they are found guilty and perhaps the next one will think twice of committing plunder! Kailangan lang na may masample-an na big fish… I am willing to donate the extra lethal injection chemicals needed to match their FAT bodies!

This reminds me of the time when my group and I were referred to the office of the GLORC when she was SWD Chief. I was disgusted when we were told to contact instead KOMPIL that I learned from a journalist friend was in fact her fund-raising arm for her political campaigns.
I was actually proposing to help in the Erap’s government program for the streetchildren with fundings coming from a foundation supported by the Japanese government. But when I found out that the criminal was only interested in getting such funds for her campaign, I declined to give her that satisfaction. I contacted Erap directly and he promised to attend to it himself. Unfortunately, he was removed by the Pidals supported in fact by a now sorry bloggers on cyberspace!!!
Jamby Madrigal was probably recommended to that position under GLORC because of the good reputation of her relative, Pacita Madrigal Gonzales, who was Chief of the Social Welfare Administration when I was growing up in good old Philippines when bribery likewise existed but in secret!!! 😛

I would love to send a copy to the Minato Ward, which raised a good amount of money for the victims of the landslide and typhoon in Leyte, etc., para malaman nila kung saan napunta ang pera ng mga hapon! Sa panahon ni GMA, sayang na sayang ang pagkakataon sa wastong paggamit ng salitang Moral Recovery, sapagkat minsan nang ginamit ni FVR ang MORAL RECOVERY, kaya lang hindi ‘Express’ kundi ‘Program’. Ang KUDETA ay maaring magmula sa Pro-GMA military o sa panig ng mga Anti-GMA military, pero tignan rin natin ang pagpasok ng grupo ng FVR, maari rin mag-Anti-GMA… Samakatuwid, labo-labo na iyan!!! Iyong mga sundalong papa-gitna ay maiipit… ibig sabihin, huwag na tayong umaasa pa sa isang mapayapang pag-aalsa, ang esensiya ng PEOPLE POWER ay natapos na, at ang pinakagrabeng senaryong maaring mangyari ay magpapatayan muna ang mga kapwa-pilipinong sundalo. Tanggapin natin ang katotohanan, nasa “Kasundaluhan” parin ang maaring makapag-kontrol sa ating lipunan sa yugto ng kasalukuyang “magulo at di-matatag na kalagayang politika”.
Gunitain natin ang penomina ng “EDSA POWER”, lehitimo ang esinsiya ng EDSA 1, at lahat ng bahaging bahagdan ng lipunan ay lumahok, at subalit maliban sa grupo ng CPP-NPA-NDF ay lumahok sa mga ilang huling araw ng pagbagsak ni Marcos. EDSA 2, sa ngayon ang halos lahat ng kaalyado ni GMA nang ipanumpa siya ni DAVIDE ay tumiwalag na, maliban kay JDV-FVR, at ang grupo ni NOGRALES. Sa EDSA 2, ang lahat ng political spectrum ay lumahok, naroon ang Bayan, Sanlakas, Akbayan, mga middle class, civic society, at iba pa… Sa EDSA 3… mga national political personalites, at ang grupong PMAP, at mga kasapi ng prominenteng religios sector… Sa tatlong EDSA POWER, ang una’t ikalawa ay naging mapayapa dahil may military component, iyong EDSA 3 ay walang military component at pawang mga masa o mahihirap na Pilipino ang nagpamalas ng kanilang galit!!! Nang dahil sa isip nila’y … sila ay dinaya sa pagpapatalsik kay ERAP na kanilang inihalal bilang Pangulo. Tanging ang EDSA 3 lamang ang naging marahas, at nalagpasan nito ang damdamin ng “1st Quarter Storm” (sori po, mga katoto), dahil ang hangarin ng masa ay lusubin ang Malacanang upang mabawi ang kapangyarihan na sa paniniwala niya ay nayurakan ang kanilang dignidad at karapatan.…ito’y umaabot sa bilang na 60 ~ 80 libong katao, na mula sa masa, na handang magsakripisyo ng kanilang buhay, at itama ninyo ako, kung ako’y nagkakamali, halos lahat ng mga masang pilipinong lumusob sa Malacañang ay dating kasapi sa prenteng organisasyon ng kaliwang grupo.
Paghamon:
Huwag na tayong umasa pa sa EDSA 4, at wala nang halimuyak ang EDSA POWER! Marahil, sawang-sawang na ang MASANG PILIPINO… sila’y nagkaroon ng “trauma” sa nakaraang EDSA 3, malamang sila’y hindi na makikilahok sa anumang ‘peoples’ uprising’. Tignan natin, ang kaganapan ng PAGHAHATOL kay ERAP, nagpapatunay na lamang ang Masang Pilipino ay napapagod na rin. Kaya, nga ang sabi ni Ka Jake Macasaet, ang 85 milyong Pilipino ay naduduwag sa ngayon kay GMA, dahil pinapabayaan na lang natin na maganap at patuloy na maganap ang mga diumanong korapsyon. At tama lamang na magmasid at mag-aral ang mga Masang Pilipino, natuto na sila, nang dahil sa EDSA 3, habang sila’y lumalaban para sa kanilang karapatan nang lusubin nila ang Malacañang, sila’y umani pa ng mga panglalait… kesyo mga bayaran, mangmang, adik, magnanakaw, at patay-gutom… Ngayon, sa tingin ninyo ba? Lalahok pa sila? Hindi na malamang, dahil sa isip nila, wala namang mangyayari… at kung kayang nilang tiisin si GMA, at dahil matagal na silang nagugutom, at nagtitiis sa gutom, kaya’t kung magkaroon man ng “civil war”, balewala sa kanila, kasi nga “sanay na sa hirap at gutom”. Ngayon, ang mga civic society at mga middle class na lamang ang may pagkakataon, kung hindi pa kayo nakakaranas ng gutom… huwag na ninyong pangarapin na magkaroon ng “KUDETA” o kaya’y manawagan ng GMA Resign!!! At kung manatili man si GMA hanggan 2010, okey lang sa inyo, dahil hindi naman kayo nakakaranas ng gutom… Ito’y usapin ng paghamon sa “RESPONSIBILIDAD” bilang isang MAMAMAYANG PILIPINO, tiyakin natin sa ating sarili, kung handa ba tayong maglaan ng sakripisyo sa ating bayan… kung nakahanda ka… alin sa dalawang pinakamahalaga sa iyong buhay at dignidad ang maari mong isakripisyo para sa iyong kapwa-Pilipino, sa bayan, at sa Diyos? Huwag na nating sukatin ang tulad nina Trillanes, Danilo Lim, Miranda, Querubin, Father ED, Ka Roger (At mga di kilalang lider ng NPA), ang mga di kilalang lider ng Pilipinong Muslim na mula sa MILF at MNLF, sa grupo ng RPA-PPA, at sa mga responsableng natitirang lider ng bansa, at higit sa lahat sa libo-libong OFW.
Paglalagum at Panalangin:
Ang MORAL RECOVERY EXPRESS ay hindi isang panghilod!!! Na sa loob ng 100 araw ay kaagad na malilinis ang nakakapit na libag ng korapsyon sa lipunan at sa pamahalaan. Marahil, hindi lamang ako ang nangangarap sa isang demokratikong lipunang mapayapa, maunlad at malaya. Ang higit nating kailangan sa kasalukuyan ay isang tunay at ganap na pagbabago. Huwag na tayong mag-aksaya ng panahon, mula sa panukalang National Recovery Program, na ini-akda ni Honassan, ay maaring makapagsimula muli ang Sambayanang Pilipino, sa pagkakaisa ng lahat ng mga armadong grupo’t rebolusyonaryong mula sa AFP, NPA, MILF, MNLF, RPA-ABB, YOUng, MAGDALO, at iba pang grupong rebeldeng military… Kung paano ito mai-sasakatuparan, mula sa MORAL RECOVERY EXPRESS ay mangyari na maging behikulo ito ng mga kasundaluhan na may tangan na PAG-IBIG SA DIYOS at sa BAYAN. Sa anong kaparaan, uulitin ko po, tanging ang mga kasundaluhan parin ang may kapangyarihan na magbigay ng liwanag at apoy ng pag-asa, dahil sila ang may hawak sa pinakamalaking kapangyarihang arsenal, datapuwa’t ito ay maghahatag ng pinakamataas na sakripisyo. Balikan natin ang kasaysayan, ang kudeta ay pintuan lamang para sa pagbabago, subalit kapag ang liwanag ay nariyan na at naagaw na kapangyarihan, ano ang susunod na pangmatagalang plano’t pananaw sa kinabukasan ng Sambayanan? At ang naging resulta sa ating kasalukuyang kalagayang pampulitikal at ekonomiya, sa nakaraang EDSA 1 at EDSA 2 ay isang DAMBUHALANG BANGUNGOT. Tignan natin ang panukala ng YOU noong sila’y aktibo pa, sila’y nagsusulong ng “COUP CUM REVOLUTION”, di ako alam ang detalye nito, dahil nabasa ko lang sa pahayagan. Marahil, ang Moral Recovery Express ay maaring paigtingin pa tulad ng MORAL RECOVERY REVOLUTION!!! Dahil ang kudeta ay hindi natatapos lamang sa isang yugto ng “power grabbing”, ito’y panimula pa lamang… kaya mga katoto, ingat po tayo sa pag-uudyok sa ating mga kasundaluhan? Sa aking pananaw, ang MORAL RECOVERY REVOLUTION ay hindi ko maaring angkinin; ikaw, ako, sila, tayong lahat ang nag-mamay-ari nito, dahil para sa KALIGTASAN NG BAYAN ay walang monopolya ng kawastuhan. At ang MORAL RECOVERY REVOLUTION ay hindi lamang nakatuon sa moral balyus, bagkus ito’y nakapokus higit sa paralismo ng kaligtasang material at ispirituwal, na kung saan, ang kaligtasang ispiritwal ay nahahati sa dalawang salik, sa ispiritwal na pagiging Pilipino at sa Ispiritwal na may PAG-IBIG sa DIYOS.
Kaya’t tayo manawagan kay Padre ED… na paigtinging niya ang paghahasik ng KATOTOHANAN, at para sa kasapian at sa kasundaluhan ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas… kayo’y mag-kaisa para sa KATOTOHANAN, at ISULONG ANG MORAL RECOVERY REVOLUTION, kabalikat ang iba’t ibang rebolusyonaryo’t armadong grupo. On the other hand, baka naman may pakipkip din si JdV kahit kaunti para hindi siya masipa sa pagka-speaker niya. But I doubt that his “pakipkip” is as big as those distributed by the Malacanang emissary.

Am still hopeful that another people power will come soon enough to check Gloria’s endless sins. Sorry, I don’t agree with Petite’s analysis about the masses becoming “reluctant rebels,” if I may put it in that phrase. The phoenix will rise again, it’s just a matter of time or timing.
