We are appalled that the culture of impunity among certain government officials appears to have spread to an extent exceeding that of all past administrations. This impunity seems also increasingly evident in many agencies of government.
A glaring example is that of COMELEC Chairman Benjamin Abalos who had no business in allowing himself to be entertained by officials of ZTE Corporation, a potential contractor of the Republic, particularly considering he had an important electoral exercise to administer. His indiscreet conduct and absence from his official duties could only have happened if he believed he was immune from sanctions. We therefore reiterate our call for Chairman Abalos to resign.
Dept. of Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza needs to think very carefully about the charges leveled against him by Congressman Carlos Padilla. Like other questionable projects, the ZTE deal will be rejected by the court of public opinion and, sooner or later, evaluated and ruled on by our own independent courts of law. Sec. Mendoza should prove his worth and rescind it now.
Should he choose not to do these, we would support a full investigation by the Senate of this highly questionable project given the huge expenditure of public funds involved. We also demand that the government publicly release a copy of the contract as mandated by Article III, Sec. 7 of our Constitution which states that “The right of the people to information on matters of public concern shall be recognized.”
The secrecy about this project, despite repeated demands by the public, is contrary to the principle avowed by this Administration for complete transparency in matters of public interest and to the provisions of Republic Act 7925 which emphasizes that “public telecommunications services shall be provided by private enterprises.”
We are heartened by the courage of journalists and fiscalizers who bring to light the anomalous activities of public officials who believe they are protected by their position. We join them and encourage others in expressing public outrage at these questionable acts and the growing culture of political impunity.
We call on President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to heed our pleas and take immediate action to rectify blatant wrongdoings of public officials, lest she be accused of condoning them.

manhid na si gloria. wala na siyang pakialam kung ano man ang isaloob at isipin ng sambayanan dahil wala naman silang magagawa kahit maglupasay pa sila sa pagpapatalsik sa kanya. ano ang ginagawa ng kanyang mga bayarang tagapagtanggol sa dalawang kapulungan ng kongreso?
Money is the main reason for being there. However, they can fool us once, twice, trice….always as before but not all the time. To borrow an idea from a friend of kutkut, its the people who will have the last say now.

This administration is nothing but a den of thieves. They cover up for one another, and the public, whose money they steal, be damned. There are now so many controversies, we can no longer keep track of all the lying, cheating and stealing going on. Remove the whole lot of them, starting with their queen.

A case in point is the charge of one US Senator for his public washroom scandal. I don’t know if he has resigned. That was a simple sex scandal; but he was hit real hard by the public and media. Walang siyang magawa kundi aminin at mag-apologize. Saan tayo makakita ng ganoon sa Pilipinas? Politicians commit immoral acts right inside their tinted government issued vehicles. Kadalasan sa mga 5-star hotel naggu-good time. Sa mga club at bar. Hindi nahihiya. Open and lagayan at hingi ng mga pabor. Never in the history of the Philippines have public officials been such thick faced and committed crimes with impunity. Saan man nanroon si Marcos ngayon, siguro inggit na inggit kay GMA. Kahit si Hitler maiinggit.
Shameless Philippine elections chief Benjamin Abalos does not have the sense of decency before and after the 2004 presidential election fraud and its subsequent cover-up. He is more like a Mafia gangster boss. Does he not see anything wrong by offering $10 M bribe to Jose De Venecia III? He didn’t have the decency to let the Filipino nation know what really transpired in China’s ZTE $329 M misdeal. Abalos’ resignation is not enough. Does he have the courage to redeem his honor by committing the Japanese style hara-kiri?
Mr. Guerrero, Abalos has never heard of hara-kiri. Siguro ang alam niya “hara-kiki”.
Hahhaaah! Baka hara bira-kiki ng Tsinitas?

why, Vito Corleone if he were alive today, would turn green with envy, and would look like a foolish schoolboy compared to his Philippine-based disciple—Abalos, who perfected the art of deceit and plunder.
Abalos, is now more than ready to engage in a lecture circuit for the Family in Chicago, in New York and in Sicily, itself !
Don Ben Abalos holds the master-key to many Gloria’s closet secrets that dates back in 2004 and in May 2007, thus without any visible scratch, he escaped the 1-Billion pesos computer scam before, and obviously emboldened, he is now eagerly looking forward to the 100-Billion pesos frontier, and could already smell it !!
and remember, the contract papers between the Government and ZTE Corp., allegedly got lost just hours after it was signed , and witnessed by the Usurper herself !
and one wonders where Lintang Bedol, got his prompt and declared that his CoC’s are nowhere to be found, too ?
reportedly, the Don, the demons in cassocks, and the squatters in Malacanang; likely, together with their spinsters and paid hacks are very, very busy these days, akin to scurrying rats.
they should, for when the people will catch-up with them, they might be burned at stake, like rats which are often the source of scourge.

Since MBC is controlled by the Concepcions and the Concepcions are close to Cory Aquino, they might just do it. But Cory herself is quiet these days. She might have changed her position. Baka wala tayo kamalay-malay eh kakampi na naman uli niya si Gloria.
There is another culture the unano administration is propagating, the culture of demotion. Just today, CNN had it flashed on the problem of doctors “retraining” themselves to be nurses. The CNN announcers were flabergasted.
Who won’t be? I don’t think they have heard of such overseas about doctors wanting to be nurses to be able to get paid right!
CNN reports that this has been going on for 5 years now, or after the unano was installed as acting president and now as an illegal president, and that 80 percent of the doctors in the Philippines are opting to be “retrained” into nursing instead of attending special training on their respective expertise in the field of medicine.
Parang iyong titser na gustong maging domestic helper and fools herself and her relatives by tagging herself as a nanny even when basically her job is to do the household chores such as washing clothes, cooking, etc., or the civil engineer overstaying in Japan and working in constructions sites as a day laborer!
It’s pathetic that they are being brainwashed “to forget about honor and dignity (“Nakakain ba iyan?” asks a Japayuki I once interpreted for at the police in Japan) as long as one can have enough money to feed himself and his family! Basta malaki ang sueldo, OK na!
OK nga ba? OK siguro kung kasama ang pamilya. Still, I hope and pray that these Filipinos, who are demoting themselves, are doing so only temporarily.
