I recall that the Liberal Party had earlier come up with a party stand that he should be allowed to perform his work as a senator. He is after all innocent unless proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt.
If the senator is not allowed by the court to attend the opening of Congress on Monday, then my colleagues and I have no choice but to respect that decision. However, the Justice Department, in continuing to oppose the senator’s petition, must not delude itself that having such an empty chair will sit well with our people.

rose, I’m not too sure if the Department of Justice is under the Judiciary Branch of the Triumvirate, but to my knowledge it is under the Executive Branch as one of the Cabinet. Therefore it can not even interpret the law, which is the domain of the Courts, the Supreme Court as the Head. That is how the process of Democracy works as far as practice in our case, but then again our Executive and Legislative are one in the form of the Parliament, with the Governing Party as the Head of the Executive Branch.

Armed Forces Chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and acting defense secretary Norberto Gonzales issued this ultimatum to the Muslim rebels on Saturday, adding that the pursuit operations had the approval of the Cabinet’s National Security Cluster.

But sometimes, things go awry and from a figment of my imagination, here are some reasons why they will not allow Sen. Trillanes.
1. The media will be too unkind to other personalities because they will be more focused on Sen. Trillanes.

With the HSA, my friends at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo are saying that Senator Trillanes will be unable to attend to his duties and responsibiities as a Senator as he is considered a threat to the idiotic criminal calling herself “President of the Philippines,” whom majority of Filipinos now complain about but lamentably and horribly cannot do without.

15 senators want Trillanes to attend sessions
A total of 15 senators on Monday passed a resolution asking a lower court to allow jailed Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV to attend sessions of the 14th Congress.
Sen. Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. presented the resolution minutes after losing his bid for the Senate presidency. Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. retained the post after getting the majority of votes, 15-7.
“It is a near unanimous expression of the will of the Senate that a duly elected senator like Antonio Trillanes IV should be allowed to discharge the function that has been saddled upon his shoulders by the Filipino people,” Pimentel said.
The veteran senator said the resolution was signed by himself, Villar and Senators Benigno Aquino III, Ma. Consuelo Madrigal, Rodolfo Biazon, Panfilo Lacson, Loren Legarda, Mar Roxas, Francis Escudero, Alan Cayetano, Ramon Revilla Jr., Lito Lapid, Gregorio Honasan, Pia Cayetano and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada.
In explaining the resolution, Pimentel cited the case of Sen. Honasan who was allowed to participate in the May 14 elections despite his alleged participation in the Oakwood Mutiny in 2003. The Department of Justice later dropped the rebellion charges filed against Honasan.
