Post-election statement of Kapatiran’s Martin Bautista

The election is over. It is time to examine, and to both skeptics and sympathizers alike, explain my participation in it.

I gave up a flourishing medical practice in America, joined Kapatiran and ran for the Senate because I wanted not merely to prove a point, but to live by it.

And the point is this: we can change our country, help our people, not by talking or theorizing but by actually doing something about it. One cannot simply make a statement. He must apply it in his life, by example, by involvement, by action. Our political campaign was such a statement.

With early 8-2-2 count, massive cheating feared

by Dennis Gadil
Malaya

The Genuine Opposition Opposition, despite an early 8-2-2 lead in the senatorial race, last night shifted its focus to Visayas and Mindanao on reports that administration cheating operators were set to unload at least five million filled-up ballots during municipal, district and provincial canvassing.

Sen. Serge Osmeña III, GO campaign manager, said the opposition had been prepared to concede 600,000 to 1 million “dagdag bawas” votes, primarily in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao, but was not expecting cheating on the reported massive scale.

Perfecting a crime

If Gloria Arroyo had some shred of conscience left in her, she should have learned from her stealing of the 2004 elections that no crime will remain hidden forever.

But Arroyo and her cohorts are a rare breed. They are using the lessons learned from the 2004 elections to perfect a more vicious crime against the Filipino people.

Luz Rimban, formerly with the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism and who now teaches broadcast journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University, took note that today’s election is the third under Arroyo’s presidency. The first was the mid-term election in 2001, the second was the presidential election in 2004.

To avoid confusion, write Alan Cayetano

It’s glaringly clear: there’s a method to all these madness.

After affirming late Friday afternoon that Joselito Cayetano is a nuisance candidate, Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos said writing “Cayetano” on the ballot will make it a stray vote.

He says the matter is still appealable to the Supreme Court.

In an interview with Alan Cayetano in Camp Bonifacio where he attended the boodle fight hosted by fellow senatorial candidates Antonio Trillanes IV, Alan said, “Comelec is supposed to clarify, not confuse.”

Bumoto at magbantay

Above pictures were taken when six Genuine Opposition senatorial candidates visited their detained fellow candidate, Antonio Trillanes IV, at his detention cell in Camp Bonifacio and participated in a boodle fight this morning.

A boodle fight is a fun , unruly tradition in the military. Food is laid out in a long table lined with banana leaves.
