Semana Santa

Ang Semana Santa ay mahalagang linggo para sa mga kristiyano dahil yan ang panahon na ginugunita natin ang sakripisyo ni HesuKristo para sa sanlibutan.

Nagsimula ang Semana Santa noong Linggo, Palm Sunday, kung saan ginunita natin ang pagpasok ni Hesu Kristo sa Jerusalem at ito ay matatapost sa Easter Sunday o Linggo ng Pagkabuhay.

Walang pasok ang araw ng Huwebes at Biyernes (April 5 at 6). Dahil tumama ang Araw ng Kagitingan sa April 9, Lunes, dire-diretso na rin ang holidays hanggang April 9. Marami sa mga ustong magbakasyon ay ngayon pa lamang umaalis at babalik sa Lunes. Maganda mag-plano ng bakasyon dahil mahaba, sulit ang gastos.

Drawing strength from each other

Wives, children and gandchildren of the detained Marines and Scout Rangers were at the Supreme Court yesterday to give moral support to each other when Atty Rolando Cipriano, lawyer for Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda; Atty. Vicente Verdadero, lawyer for Brig. Gen. Danny Lim, Atty. Vicente Caoile, lawyer for Col. Armando Bañez; and Atty. Dante Xenon Atienza, lawyer for Maj. Jose Leomar Doctolero and Capt. Wiliam Upano, filed the petition for certiorari, prohibition and habeas corpus in connection with the detention and court martial of the 28 military officers.

They, too, are victims of the injustice being perperated on their husbands, fathers, and grandfathers.

Lim, Miranda ask SC to stop court martial

Military officials tagged in last year’s failed coup plot against President Arroyo yesterday asked the Supreme Court to order their release from detention and to stop the court martial proceedings against them.

Marine Major Gen. Renato Miranda and Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, Army First Scout Ranger Regiment commander, filed a petition for certiorari, prohibition and habeas corpus before the SC against AFP chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and the Special General Court Martial No. 2 (SGCM2), which ordered their detention for alleged violation of the Articles of War.

Schizophrenia: Arroyo’s survival

Maj. Gen. Ben Dolorfino, head of the National Capital Region military command, is now acting as spokesman for Gloria Arroyo.

He gave to media Arroyo’s supposedly exact quote when she visited the Baseco compound slum last Saturday, which was: “Congratulations and keep up the good work.”

We have no reason to doubt Dolorfino’s report because Ignacio Bunye, the one who holds the title of presidential spokesman, has not denied Dolorfino’s quotation of his principal.

Naisahan ba tayo ni Jun Ducat at Chavit Singson?

Tinatanong ko ito kasi ng mapakinggan ko si Ducat sa radyo noong Miyerkoles, nakisimpatiya naman ako sa kanyang crusada laban sa corruption at sa kinabukasan ng kanyang mga pinapa-aral na mga bata kahit na hindi ako sang-ayon sa kanyang paraan upang maparating sa publiko at sa kinauukulang ang kanyang mga isyu.

Ngunit ng gabi na yun, medyo nagtataka na ako bakit nandoon si Chavit Singson, ang kandidato ng Team GMA. Lumalaban ka sa corruption, tapos magkasama kayo ni Singson.
