Noong Miyerkoles, natagpuang patay si Carmelo Palacios, reporter ng Radyo ng Bayan, sa Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija.
Si Palacios ay pang labingpitumput- isa (51) na journalist mula nang umupo sa Malacañang si Gloria Arroyo kahit hindi binoto ng taumbayan.
Natagpuan ring patay ang sampung araw nang nawawalang si Julia Campbell, ang Amerikanang Peace Corp volunteer, sa ilalim ng bangin sa Batad, Banaue, Ifugao. Mukhang pinagnakawan at pinagsamantalahan si Campbell, sabi sa mga unang report ng Cordillera pulis.
Ito namang si Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales, sinisi pa si Campbell. Bakit raw kasi naglakad na mag-isa? Despalinghado talaga ang pag-iisip nitong paboritong cabinet secretary ni Arroyo.
Noong Huwebes, binaril si Delfin Mallari, Jr., correspondent ng Inquirer sa Southern Luzon, at ang kanyang kasamang DZMM reporter na si Johnny Glorioso, ng isang hindi nakilalang lalaki na naka-motorsiklo habang siya ay nagma-maneho sa Lucena City.
Natamaan sa likod si Mallari ngunit swerteng buhay siya. Hindi nasaktan si Glorioso.
Ang pinakalagim na nangyari ay ang pagpugot ng Abu Sayyaf ng ulo ng pitong construction workers sa Sulu noong Huwebes din.
Ang pito ay mga trabahador ng BJ Construction na pag-aari ni Sulu Gov. Benjamin Loong (tingnan mo naman gubernador na may construction company at may kontrata na road project sa pamahalaan) at may ginagawa silang kalsada sa Parang, Jolo.
Humingi ang Abu Sayyaf ng P5 milyon. Nang hindi nagbigay si Loong, pinugutan ang ulo ang kawawang mga trabahador. Una nilang pinadala ang ulo ng dalawa na nakalagay sa sako sa headquarters ng Alpha Company ng 33rd Infrantry Batallion. Pagkatapos ng dalawang oras, ang ulo naman ng lima ang dinala sa Charlie Company sa ibang barangay. Nakuha na rin ang kanilang mga katawan na nakagapos.
Demonyo talaga itong mga Abu Sayyaf.

Hindi nga dinedma ngunit binastos naman ni SirRaul Ounghoi isang dispalinghadong alipores ni Gloria Arroyo. Sinisi pa ni SirRaul O si Campbell by saying “she is partly to blame for the tragedy that struck her”.

Yuko, other countries, particularly the first world ones like the US and Japan have superior intelligence group(not corrupted like what the tiyanak has which is so bugok!) with their network and advanced surveillance equipments, that’s why they can predict. It may also be a political positioning. We all know that once a leader is perceived as ineffective, the ally countries can engineer the removal of that leader. Look at what they did to Marcos and Saddam Hussein? The Philippines is an ally of the US. The Philippines’ decay is an issue to the US as well. I also read that a group in Japan is trying to stop Japan’s aid to PI until the judicial killings are addressed. The first world countries have the dough which the Philippines always look forward to having. Unfortunately, most of these aids go into corruption. So now these countries have gotten wiser, instead of aids, they give these foreign aids as debts instead. So now, we are in debt above our heads! The charter change that the tiyanak and Ramos had been pulling through would allow more foreign control over our industries and patrimony. Foreign ownership in our country will be freer after the charter change goes through( the tiyanak will try pushing this through again if her party wins in the May elections).
Since tiyanak is becoming to be a burden rather than an asset( being the most corrupt country in Asia in her watch!) these first world countries are concerned that their interests will not be protected. The death of Julia Campbell is another black eye to tiyanak! If she can not protect the lives and livelihood of her people, all the concerned nations will band together and do something about it! Of course using the existing resource and resources we have. Naghahanap na sila ng ipapalit kay tiyanak ngayon. Someone who can protect their interests better. This election may be their way of getting her out! If tiyanak has the money to spend, these first world countries have of course MORE. Bill Gates alone can own the Philippines with his current assets. He is just one of the many multi billionaires the US have. Kaya magingat ingat lang si tiyanak. Her days are numbered and she knows it! She can not take the check and balance that the super powers have. Kaya ngayon nagpapabango siya kay China! Because when these powerful nations say, she has to go, she has to go! I am very anxious for that day to come!!!

Over here, our police is not run by any ministry. It is an independent entity run by a commission composed even of civilians, not politicians that is why the police can arrest anybody breaking the law in this country. Even the Prime Minister is not allowed to abuse and can be held legally responsible for his actions.
I should know. I have worked in the Japanese police as contracted civilian interpreter (English, Tagalog, Ilocano, Spanish and French), and saw why the Japanese police is efficient, not really because Japan has money but because of the dedication and sense of commitment of the people running it. The teamwork is something that I really take my hat off for.
The Japanese police in fact has been patterned after that of Britain’s Scotland Yard of more than a century ago. The first police superintendent went there more than a century ago when London in fact was terrorized by that fiend called “Jack the Ripper” to study the rudiments, etc. of the Scotland Yard then mixed it with German ingenuity and Japanese discipline, and you have a 99% no miss police department.

Can you imagine they announced already the identity before Ms Campbell was officially identified, already speculated as to the cause of death before an initial autopsy and already speculated to many probabilities without any evidence. And the next time you’ll see, they’re going to parade the suspect or suspects before the media, if ever an arrest or arrests are made.
And here’s the Secretary of Justice, that every time he says something, exposes the insensitivities of the leaderships to the grieving of the victims’ families that the “crimes” causes, that the same administration time and time again to eradicate. There is the Abbu Sayyaf, extraordinaire extortionists, criminals for profit, an handful of hooligans and the whole PNP and AFP can not even contain.
We can lament and wonder why Cho did what he has done, but the Virginia Tech killings was the deed of a single mentally disturbed youth that could happen anywhere. But what was happening in the Philippines, the killing of a defenseless Peace Corps Volunteer, the beheading of struggling breadwinners, the murders of journalists are even more gruesome. And they are all to blame for their own fate as per the Country Secretary of Justice, the master “criminal.”

BK, you can not compare the number of deaths in PI to that of US because the US is much much bigger than the Philippines. Besides, the occurence of the Virginia Tech massacre is an isolated case that does not usually occur on day to day. BK, my apologies for misjudging you. Just do not take pleasure in comparing the Philippines to the US. It is night and day! Malayo pa tayo sa kalingkingan ng US. But if we have a good moral leader, never mind if we are not as rich as the US but if our citizens and visitors can freely enjoy to walk around and enjoy our sceneries without being killed, our journalists can truthfully write about anything withourt being killed, if everyone is really free to be what they want to be and be given a chance to have a simple decent living without resorting to abandoning their families, then we do not really have to look outside of the country for contentment!
The Abu Sayyaf are a bunch of cold-blooded murderer, They disregard the full enjoyment of the most fundamental human rights, right to life, they have no justification under any pretext and they need to be exterminated. The people they beheaded were an ordinary citizen trying to earn a few bucks working a tedious job just to have a cup of noodles for their families. Those are illiterates and careless about human life and dignity. No soul and no moral. Can we blame them?
