Wives, children and gandchildren of the detained Marines and Scout Rangers were at the Supreme Court yesterday to give moral support to each other when Atty Rolando Cipriano, lawyer for Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda; Atty. Vicente Verdadero, lawyer for Brig. Gen. Danny Lim, Atty. Vicente Caoile, lawyer for Col. Armando Bañez; and Atty. Dante Xenon Atienza, lawyer for Maj. Jose Leomar Doctolero and Capt. Wiliam Upano, filed the petition for certiorari, prohibition and habeas corpus in connection with the detention and court martial of the 28 military officers.
They, too, are victims of the injustice being perperated on their husbands, fathers, and grandfathers.

I can just imagine what these people are going through.
Justice will never see the rays of light as long as the doblecara, lying, cheating sanabagan is there to curtail the rights of every Filipino.
But we cannot rest. There are work to do……
thanks to the devil with a toothy grin…
and those who work for them!
These families need our support and prayers until Justice is delivered…and I hope SOON!

Ms. Ellen:
Pls forgive me on this, its a bit off-topic:
During yesterday’s rally by the LAKAS-CMD, they said they will produce 9million votes for TU(TA) candidates, my question is??? where are they going to get the 9 million votes, unless they cheat right. With this proclamation, people should be wary of the outcome of the election next month. People should bevigilant in the counting of the ballots.
Back to your topic, what do you expect form this administration, they are the one who is purging their ranks, they are purging those who are against the LEPRECHAUN and her MINIONS, They say the CPP/NPA/NDF is purging their ranks, maybe, but the administration is also doing the same thing.

Ms. Ellen:
Again this is a bit off-topic:
According to a friend, GSIS funds is running dry again, how come??? pesnioners are having difficulty getting their hard earned pensions, maybe someone/somebody has to take a look at GSIS, the money of the pensioners might be used for this coming election.
THis also goes to our shelter agencies, its also a money milking govt agency. The money might also be used for the election.
prans
You bet, they’re going to cheat. In 2004, the bruha asked only a for a million difference, and she got them votes. No thanks to Garci, Esperon, et al who got their wishes afterward, and making them bolder to step on the Constitution, and suck the blood of Filipinos dry with this Garci for instance now saying he will run and win the election in Bukidnon by labelling community leaders opposed to them as “communists” to justify killing them by the military and/or the police.
God, wala na bang katapusan? Hopefully, the Filipinos are much wiser now except that I see these crooks being able to cook up even the OFWs whose community leaders being cajoled by embassy officials and being groomed as promoters for the TUTA.
It’s how I see the recent receptions and entertainments for these supposed community leaders to flatter and convince them to promote the TUTAs. I still have to check in fact the information I have received that they are being given voter’s ID even without going through the rigid registration procedure that in Japan, for instance, would encourage a national boycott that is taken as displeasure with the government over here and can force the ruling party to step down, but unfortunately not in the Philippines. I have been told that they are being encouraged to go TUTA.
I can only sympathize with the Filipinos. On the other hand, if they don’t stand against these crooks the way the Americans for instance stood against Bush, and voted Democrats for the Senate and Congress, after seeing Bush turning into a dictator ala-Hitler, then, what can we say but they deserve what they get!!!
Hopefully, the numbers of these families of these aggrieved soldiers standing up for their rights now is a reflection of the general trend and sentiments—SAWA NA ANG MGA PILIPINONG MAKITA ANG PAGMUMUKHA NI TIYANAK, MIKE PIDAL, ESPERON, ET AL. Sana nga!
Filipinos, by all means, should not allow their 9M votes to be stolen. They should be told that this election is in fact being made into a mockery with Pichay even admitting that they are running for the Senate to make sure that it is abolished after the election with the Tiyanak assuring her TUTAs that they will be able to get commissions as members of the peerage if and when she is able to declare the Philippines as a new kingdom and proclaim herself as a queen. Bakit nila papayagan iyan? If the TUTA get the 9M votes, and the Filipinos do not do anything about that, then, they deserve what they get, but that should not mean the end of this resistance against these shenanigans, but just the beginning!
Let me propose a scenario from left field here:
What if the “cheating” president is somehow removed from power and maybe (just maybe) these “innocents” are released from jail by presidential pardon of the subsequent president.
The first question is when will it end? Are our aspirations for justice dependent on the next president (or the next one, or the next next one?)?
If the next one pardons this current crop of incarcerated people then imprisons another set of “political enemies”, then we’re back to square one, right? All because our justice system is now driven more by presidential edict than by any actual due process.
Arroyo may be removed from office. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the “injustices” will disappear.
And all the while a culture of crime will continue to prevail (I expound on this reality in an article I wrote way back which you can view by clicking on the following link).
http://www.getrealphilippines.com/agr-disagr/16-3-cultcrime.html
Excerpt:
================
Presidents have to personally oversee law enforcement. Presidents routinely parade criminal suspects pre-trial. What happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty? High-profile crimes are given “deadlines” to solve by no less than the President. So if Juan de la Cruz’s daughter gets raped and murdered by her uncle, will the cops sit around until a President comes around to order them work the case?
And then we collectively go off each year to celebate the replacement of presidents extra-constitutionally. This one simply takes the cake. We had in recent memory removed a president in a blatant disregard of constitutionally-prescribed procedure and installed a new president who then proceeded to govern by virtue of the very same Constitution that her ascent to power had trampled upon!

Tsk tsk.

BenignO,
You have point when you say that “Arroyo may be removed from office. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the “injustices” will disappear.”
We go what we deserved. Had we been more vigilant, maybe we would been better at picking the right leaders. Had we been more discerning, we would have a better understanding at what it means to love our country.
Maybe it is our fault. I just hope that in the May elections, we will not compromise ourselves again by having a loser’s mindset by taking the “let’s-not-rock-the-boat” attitude.
A better Philippines will not happen w/ the current status quo.
A better Philippines will not materialize w/ Gloria.
If we want change, the boat HAS to be rocked. It’s either we hang on or fall off.
“If we want change, the boat HAS to be rocked. It’s either we hang on or fall off”
.
It also depends on how much rocking we are willing to take.
For example, you say that you “hope that in the May elections, we will not compromise ourselves again by having a loser’s mindset by taking the “let’s-not-rock-the-boat” attitude”
Well, that “hope” rests squarely on a variable that is beyond the control of that miniscule proportion of voters who actually think. That variable is the Philippine Masses. They will vote yet again with their palms outstretched at the wads of cash being waved by the politicians we love to hate (yet to whose tunes we continue to dance to).
How much boat rocking are we willing to consider to mitigate the effects of such a wildcard variable as the ignorant masses in an exercise as critical as elections?
We hope for an intelligent outcome this coming elections yet entrust said outcome to an ignorant lot.
.
See the irony there?
.
– 😀
Everyone of Filipino citizenship over the age of 18 years has a RIGHT to vote. Who is to determine whether a voter is intelligent or ignorant, YOU!
Ow, kawawang mga musmos. Dahil sa power-tripping ni Tianak ay nagdurusa!
Hang in there courageous little guys, we will kick the Tianak’s butt so your Dads and Grandpas can go home and play with you again.
“Hang in there courageous little guys, we will kick the Tianak’s butt so your Dads and Grandpas can go home and play with you again.”
.
Wow, ganun ka-simple lang pala yan ha. 😀
When Arroyo is gone, all the OFWs will come home.
Now that is a real gem of a concept.
Maybe we fail to remember that Pinoys have been churning out babies and then becoming OFWs to feed said babies over the last several decades.
.
– 😀 😀
They deserve to be evicted.
Our tax money will one day be spent on cleaning up the mess they made there.
.
– 😀
Sadyang mapagpasensiya at madaling magpatawad.

When Arroyo is gone, all the OFWs will come home.”
It’s safe to say that Chi was referring to the incarcerated officers. But seems a certain quarter in Ellenland has now considered the incarcerated officers OFWs? Well, well, well… I’ll be damned.
OK, let’s replace “go home” with “come home”. meron bang pinag-iba sa meaning considering the topic here of jailed military officials?
Right Anna, our issue in this thread is the incarcerated Men of Honor, di ba?
Bakit nasingit ang OFW? Wow, really a gem from someone ‘genius’ in the kingdom of the kangaroos.
Don’t allow others to divert or dictate the trend of the discussion. As much as possible stick to the issue posted.
Re “Napakabilis niyang magpatawad.
Nasabi ko man yan ay paniwala ko na noong panahon ng impeachment (botched nga lang) against Erap, whether we like it or not, his government didn’t shortcut human rights in spite of the fact and allowed people great leeway to demonstrate against him. On that score, we may very well admit that Erap may have been done in by his own misappreciation of events but in the end, he had more decency and respect for the general Rule of Law than the misfit in Malacanang.
Benign0,
You have a point in your answer (April 3rd, 2007 at 5:38 pm). It does seem to be irony that “We hope for an intelligent outcome this coming elections yet entrust said outcome to an ignorant lot.”
Although I am tempted to be cynical, yet I don’t think feeling despondent will do any good, & so I hope that we can draw “strength from each other.”
If the soldiers who are incarcerated continue to hope despite their conditions, we should, too. I am almost sure they await the outcome of the people’s votes to redeem themselves.
Old fashion or baduy as it may sound, I still believe that miracles can happen.
Wow, really a gem from someone ‘genius’ in the kingdom of the kangaroos.
*****
Kaya pati iyong ikinulong itinuring na parang mga OFWs on some homecoming tour back to the Philippines. Sira rin ang ulo ha?
BenignO;
Re:
Arroyo may be removed from office. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the injustices will disappear.
At present the Arroyo regime is a government monopoly of justice by a corrupt powerful politicians to shield them from prosecution, likewise the names of Raul Gonzales, Merceditas Ombudsman and now the kangaroo military court of Assperon. They are a bunch of fundamentally corrupt justice that is more concerned in protecting the privileges of the illegitimate president and they become the guardian of grafters, murderers and kidnappers to enrich and empower themselves in the offices at the expenses of a tax payer, they ignored the right and freedoms of common private citizens which they are supposed to protect.
If GMA’s senatorial candidates whom she paid each one of them a hundred millions each will win the majority of the seat, she will transform the present government in parliamentary system.
The problems of an ordinary Filipinos that is suffering today will remain the same, or even worst considering its present trend, rampant corruptions in every agencies.
She could not even stop suspicious acts of corruption by her husband and her close relatives, how much more can she possibly stop graft activities by dishonest military generals, prosecutors, cabinet officials. Recently, Jun Ducat is complaining about corruption and Singson heard him Chavit asked him,”Ducat why are you calling me?” Is this the kind of scenario we want to see on TFC everyday, BenignO?
It’s about time we need to change the guard. The midget has proven corrupt and useless, She is a malfunctioning CPU in our computer.
“It’s about time we need to change the guard. The midget has proven corrupt and useless, She is a malfunctioning CPU in our computer.”
.
Despite all what you said, you still did not address the point:
What makes us think the injustices will disappear when Arroyo steps down?
.
– 😀
Hoy, naiintindihan mo ba?
BenignO
Re; What makes us think that injustices will disappear when Arroyo steps down.
If you read what I have written above and you comprehend the messages, it was clear that corruption is the main cause that tainted her regime.
Now, if you are looking for a solution to solve this problem here is a simple formula, Artsee, elaborated injustice will be gone when the midget is gone, in short those corrupt officials appointed by her will also be gone.
A corrupt leadership endangers the stability and security of society, undermines democracy, and jeopardize the social, political, and economic development. It facilitates criminal activities such as money laundering, hinders economic development, inflates the cost of doing business, and undermines the legitimacy of the government and public trust. These corruption practices can not be eliminated while under her regime. She ruled her governance under a silent Martial law. She pampered more the military generals under her skirt than the giving freedom to everyone, because she definitely sure that she cheated and she need the military protection. As you can see. in every TU campaign sorties all you can glimpse on TFC was her moled face on TV. because she knows that if her administration candidate lost, her interest is in hot water. There is no freedom and democracy under her rule, even you ask Satur Ocampo and Jinggoy.Time for her to go.
Artsee;
‘Tul okey lang iyan, gusto ko ngang BenignO will debate me in any issue, kasi I know mayroon siyang itinatagong mga idea sa baul niya, mayroon siyang “golden arinola”na nakatago doon katulad ng kay Quirino.
“What makes us think the injustices will disappear when Arroyo steps down?”
Nothing but hope and faith.
No matter how hard we try, we will never have a hundred percent assurance that tomorrow will be brighter if it comes at all.
These officers who are now incarcerated only had their faith in the Filipino when they voiced their sentiments out. This same faith holds their family together.
Will injustices disappear when Aling Gloria steps down? We will never know for sure. But chosing between a known perpetrator of injustice and an unknown quantity, I’d rather go for the unknown. If the cycle brings us back to square one, at least, we did what we thought was best for the moment.
As to looking beyond Aling Gloria, an overhaul of the system is indeed necessary. This isn’t going to be a walk in the park but we have to start somewhere.
This, I don’t believe at the moment, Anna, especially when the whole country is left with nothing, not even hope, much worse than when the Americans airlifted Marcos and family to Hawaii and left the palace free for all to loot. It was in fact shown on TV when the unruly crowd looted the palace, and actually made me wonder if they left anything for the Aquino government to be able to display still what they said were Imelda’s shoes leaving the caption that a lot many of those replenished shoes were not the same Marikina shoes shoemakers presented Imeld for helping promote their products overseas.
This time, the Philippines does not even have such kind of industry. The ONLY EXPORT the Pimp can brag about are the Filipinos, whom her emissaries even brazenly label as “the Philippines’ No. 1 Export.”
There are no other signifificant export since the Philippines lost the bid for those nata de coco that Japan for instance now prefers to import from Thailand, Vietnam or Indonesia.
Susmaryosep!
Oops, I was referring to this quote: “Re “Wow, ganun ka-simple lang pala yan ha. When Arroyo is gone, all the OFWs will come home.”
Frankly, when Cory took over the reign of government, a lot many Filipinos in KSA I was told went home to the Philippines with hopes that their lives would be better with her as president. A year after, a lot of them, who could not get back to KSA were diverted to Japan by a labor attache who was kicked out of Singapore, but instead of grounding him at the home office, he was sent to Japan, where he helped divert these male migrant workers to Japan.
By 1989, the Japanese police created a translation center for easier handling of cases of foreign offenders with Filipino ranking No. 1 then among the undesirable aliens.
If the Tiyanak is removed, definitely there will be a big decrease in the number of Filipinos being deployed overseas especially if the new government will make it a policy to try to provide Filipinos good paying jobs at home. Puede naman sa totoo lang, for it is just in fact a matter of will. Pwe!
Pareng Cocoy:
“Now, if you are looking for a solution to solve this problem here is a simple formula, Artsee, elaborated injustice will be gone when the midget is gone, in short those corrupt officials appointed by her will also be gone.”
Once she goes, her equally corrupt ilk would also go- I agree. Kaya lang, we really cannot be assured that the replacements won’t be as corrupt. With the Pinoy’s short memory, I’m afraid these people would only get recycled. Then again, an unknown quantity is better than a known perpetrator of corruption at the moment. Only time can tell whether our choices now are indeed the right choices.
“especially if the new government will make it a policy to try to provide Filipinos good paying jobs at home”
.
A ganun pala ka-simple yan. Just create “a policy to try to provide Filipinos good paying jobs at home” (my italics) and PRESTO! all the OFW’s will come home and live happily ever after. 😀
.
Never mind the minor issue of where exactly those jobs come from. Basta they will be magically pulled out of a hat by the next president and doled out to every Pinoy hanging around Malacanang with their gaping mouths waiting for the proverbial guava to fall into it. Bahala na king baga.
.
– 😀
One thing true about the removal of Marcos and why the EDSA 1 was a failure was because they only returned the old crooks. This time, hopefully, we see a new breed of enlightened politicians like Alan Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, and yes, Sonny Trillanes. Iyan ang mga maginoo. Masarap ang mga palaban tulad ni Trillanes who will hopefully be like that former president of Ghana, whose efforts to improve his country amidst the cynicism, etc. have born fruits that the Ghanans now enjoy.
BenignO;
Re; A ganun pala kasimple iyan;If you have any idea please share us.
We can achieve that goal in combating poverty and improve the living of our kababayans;
Here are some solution that our government need to pay attention. They must adopt a consistently make wise policies in vital areas such as:
1)Recognizing the importance of good governance and a competent public administration.
2)Encouraging private enterprises through market-oriented mechanism.
BenignO;
Sige,nga! kung may idea ka!
“Recognizing the importance of good governance and a competent public administration”
.
And you think focusing all your energies on ousting “Tianak” (not my words) will achieve that?
.
.
Oh so now we are banking on the charitable goodness of big corporates to have pity on the small businessman? Come now. Big corporate exist for the sole purpose of making money. As soon as people come to terms with that reality, we will be able to focus more on self reliance than on this debilitating victim mentality that characterises our society.
.
And yet, SM malls and the Chinese banks that finance these obnoxious structures that house the equally noxious food served by Jollibee and Chowking are the favourite tambays of these “victimised” masses.
See the irony there?
Kawawa nga naman.
.
– 😀
BenignO;
When I said recognizing the importance of good governance and a competent public administration,
The government must take responsibilty for creating the institutional conditions and incentives required to encourage productivity and individual enterprise. These depend on our solons to pass an enterprenueral lawse, enforceable policies, stable and transparent government laws that exist.Eliminate corruption.Corruption is far too pervasive and remains an enormous barrier to both domestic and foriegn investment, tax on economic efficiency and social progress that’s what we need. But,if the government officials are corrupt, this is impossible to attain and achieve. There is no alternative solution for the country to move forward unless we get rid of corruption. How can we do that, remove all the corrupt officials in government.
BenignO;
Now,on small business entrepreneur, the government should help boost productivity in borrower’s economies and remove economic constraints that hamper progress.Strengthening the regulatory systems necessary to support competitive in small, medium and large enterprises,by providing access to seed capital especially to small business so that they can start. That’s an initiative that government provides an opportunity to improve the economic prospect of those poor people.
Do you realise that most who start a small business for the first time will give up and close down within six months. The reason mainly because of red tape and expense of various business permits, DTI name reistration, Fire Dept. inspection, Health Dept inspections and if handling food the employee requires to attend seminars to obtain Health Cert. to be able to serve customers food etc. and so on even before opening the business, whatever business it may be.
When closure arrives, as the business no longer exists the tax’s due by that small business is no longer collected, how small minded the government is.
These government requirements bleed the business venture dry even before it starts. What is the reason for all these permits being issued by so many different agencies. Is it a form of tax? if it is then only the Local Government get revenue from all these permits & inspection & seminars and the National Governments BIR get nothing, when the business closes!

Time and again it is stated by different commentators that here we are still a young democracy, and thats true. But it is my opinion that within the last six years the Philippine Republic and its failure of democracy has been made to do a lot of growing up. The feeling in the air at the moment, for the first time in a long while, that changes are possible. It has become more noticeable due to a fact that the whole nation knows that in a few weeks time it will have the chance to change it from this lousy administration and its up to them, the people.
Whatever view a person may have of Marcos, he used the Military but never lost control of the Military, always keeping them in their place by giving them limited power. What we see today is a Military having gradually got the power over the Administration and because this Administartion have been hiding the TRUTH of the Garci tapes that revealed the Military, among them Haemorrhoid Assperon, did all they could to assist cheating the electorate the Administration are unable to regain the lost power for fear of revealing the TRUTH.
So, the ‘growing up’ of democracy of the past six years will have a big impact on politics in that by junking the Administration candidates at the elections will show proof that if politicians don’t abide by TRUTH & JUSTICE they have no right to and will not be supported by the people. Schzoglo and Haemorrhoid Assperon cannot decide for us, the outcome of the election, only the PEOPLE can decide.
TRUTH & JUSTICE will be the reason for their downfall!
