Opposition’s duty to the people

The senatorial campaign is going on its fourth week. Both sides are fine-tuning their organizations based on realities on the ground after their initial salvos.

Team GMA has brought in Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone, who is supposed to take over the media and logistics aspect of the campaign, according to campaign manager Reli German.

Team GMA probably thinks Evardone, being a former reporter, could make media sing more praises to their candidates. Although, I was thinking, what can Evardone give to media that Ike Gutierrez, media operator of former President Joseph Estrada who is now deputy to German, has not given? Probably as in -charge of “media and logistics”, Evardone will have a bigger budget.

In a TV interview, Evardone said that he is bringing to the campaign his network with the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines The ULAP and Sigaw ng Bayan spearheaded the People’s Initiative which the Supreme Court thrashed as fraudulent.

It’s interesting that after working for the abolition of the Senate, Evardone, like four of Team GMA’s senatorial candidates, is now working for election of senators.

Evardone and I were pioneers of Malaya during the Marcos regime. I used to admire him because he courageously went on covering the Comelec for the 1986 snap election even when he was in the list of those with a Preventive Detention Arrest order. (He never got arrested.)

Evardone is an example of a student leader turned trapo politician. I’m so disappointed with him.

I can imagine that Team GMA needs Evardone’s services because despite its well-oiled machinery and glitzy campaign, its candidates are trailing that of the resources-handicapped opposition candidates. In the February 12 survey of Pulse Asia of Manila voters’ preference precommissioned by the opposition, seven GO candidates are in the top 12: Loren Legarda, Ping Lacson, Chiz Escudero, Alan Cayetano, Kiko Pangilinan, Noynoy Aquino, Gringo Honasan, Ralph Recto, Tito Sotto, Manny Villar, Joker Arroyo, and Koko Pimentel.

What I find most interesting is detained Magdalo Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes, prohibited from media interviews and without TV ads, neck to neck with the over-exposed former presidential chief of staff Mike Defensor at number 15 and 16, ahead of Boom Tarat-Tarat Miguel Zubiri (No. 18).

On the other hand, GO also has to really do something with their organization in the provinces, where Gabby Claudio, presidential political adviser, boasts of 90 percent control of local officials.

Being a coalition has its benefits in the sense that it gathers under one umbrella several political groups of different persuasions. But it has also its problems as was manifested in the cancellation of the Iloilo City rally last week.

The Liberal Party-Drilon wing, a member of the GO coalition, was supposed to be in charge of that rally. They have Gov. Niel Tupas, Sr., who gained national prominence a few weeks ago, when heavily armed policemen attempted to take him out of the capitol building, as their highest official there.

Opposition representative Rolex Suplico, who is nephew of Tupas, is with the breakaway LDP group of Ping Lacson.

Apparently, Sen. Frank Drilon and Tupas failed to mobilize people for the Feb. 28 rally. They had to cancel it, giving security threat as their lame excuse. To make up for the Iloilo fiasco, the LP in Roxas City, led by the LP matriarch, Judy Roxas, showed that Capiz is very much Roxas country.

The rally in Antique was also cancelled due to “local issues,” GO campaign manager JV Ejercito said.

The local issue is former Assemblyman Arturo Pacificator, a suspect in the killing of Ninoy Aquino leader Evelio Javier. Pacificador is the GO gubernatorial candidate against incumbent Sally Perez of LP (Atienza wing) . Another Arroyo ally in Antique is Rep. Exequiel Javier, who is at odds with Perez.

Pacificador is a bad name nationally but he has his supporters in Antique. He had arranged a rally in the town of Bugasong. The problem was, Noynoy Aquino, LP’s candidate in the coalition, cannot be seen consorting with Pacificador. So the Antique rally had to be cancelled. No problem with front-runner Loren Legarda, whose roots trace back to Antique, who visited relatives and friends.

The opposition cannot be lax in their organization given that the Arroyo administration is in a survival mode. She will do everything, by hook or by crook, to remain in power.

This election could be our last chance for peaceful change. Survey after survey shows that the people want Arroyo out. They are banking on the political opposition to carry that out. GO should not fail the Filipino people.

  1. The Opposition should firm up to do its best not to be perturbed by the usual black propaganda, the same gimmick and tricks being employed by the Pidals and their tutas in 2004.

This time, Filipinos should not allow themselves to be duped any longer by the likes of those elitist crooks manning the NAMFREL or manipulators like JdV and Kiko Noted that when they say who wins the election, nobody has the right to protest against it, and accept their verdict as final and absolute!!!

But as Ellen has asked, where do they seek redress for their grievances? All the agencies supposed to investigate these anomalies, arrest, prosecute and convict the criminals are in cahoot with these criminals!!!

Bloody revolution ba ang kailangan? Heaven forbid! Porbida man gid!!

GO must be focus-driven; keeping their eye on the ball at ALL times. The GO candidates should not deceive themselves into thinking that because they have majority of the people behind them they can relax. On the contrary, what GO is up against is a “well-oiled machinery and glitzy campaign” of Team Gloria who can also cheat big time. They should NOT, at any time during this campaign period, blink for one second ! They must bear in mind that the desperate Team Gloria, when they see any weakness, no matter how minute, WILL strike immediately !

  3. Chabeli Chabeli

Although money can do a lot in electing public officials into office, the recent surveys have shown, however, that money is NOT, apparently, the end all anymore. This could explain why a “..detained Magdalo Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes, prohibited from media interviews and without TV ads, neck to neck with the over-exposed former presidential chief of staff Mike Defensor at number 15 and 16, ahead of Boom Tarat-Tarat Miguel Zubiri (No. 18).”

The effect of this survey result on Team Gloria would be DESPERATION – to win at all cost. It would be interesting to see how GO will handle a frantic Team Gloria ?

  4. Chabeli Chabeli

Team Gloria will throw everything at GO, including the kitchen sink.

GO must remember that they bring w/ them the aspirations of the majority of the people who want to throw Gloria OUT from Malacañan.

This could be our last chance to kick out the B*tch. We gotta get it right this time.

I pray & place my hopes on the GO.

What are the weak spots of Gloria’s TUTA team?
The opposition should keep pounding the legitimacy of the Arroyo presidency and never ending graft and corruption. One of the TUTA’s weak spots is they are identified with unpopular leader. Like dogs with tails on their back hiding under her skirts. Gloria has negative ratings since she grabbed power in 2001.

I still believed that she never won the election. She cheated her way thru “Hello Garci” and everybody knows it. Kahit pagtakpan pa nila. She is the illigimate President. Period. I never call her as a president. She is always a liar. Tatak na ng arroyo yan.

I believe in miracles. Sometimes, it is when one least expects that they actually happen.

I have faith that God willing, even when the Pidals attempt to cheat much worst than they did in 2004 with the help of Mr. Noted, et al, Sonny Trillanes is going to win. His own confidence in his own ability to tackle the job of a Senator even from jail should be inspiration enough to those who have volunteered to help him be the kind of Senator they believe he is capable of doing!!!

He will surely make a difference!!!

  15. Inquirer reports, “DUMAGUETE CITY — A political gathering of Team Unity senatorial candidates was disrupted Saturday night when Negros Oriental Rep. Herminio Teves of the third district was rushed to hospital after he suddenly wobbled and vomited from what he would later call indigestion.” The rest of the story is found in http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/regions/view_article.php?article_id=52818

This, Chabeli, is how God sometimes deal with those who are sleeping with the enemies, and/or in cahoot with people whom God are displeased with. They should have known that the Bansot that they want to help stay in power is the embodiment of all that God hates: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” (Proverbs 6:16-19)

There are others coming I believe. Let’s just keep having faith and wait for the things to come!

  16. Holy mackerel! I just mentioned about miracles likely to happen to the more favorable United Opposition, and here comes this news from Inquirer: “A political gathering of Team Unity senatorial candidates was disrupted Saturday night when Negros Oriental Rep. Herminio Teves of the third district was rushed to hospital after he suddenly wobbled and vomited from what he would later call indigestion.”
    (newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/regions/view_article.php?article_id=52818)

Anyone sleeping with the enemy will suffer this kind of malady. It’s amazing how these people can be friends with the Bansot who is an embodiment of all that God hates: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A PROUD LOOK, A LYING TONGUE, AND HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD, AN HEART THAT DEVISETH WICKED IMAGINATIONS, FEET THAT BE SWIFT IN RUNNING TO MISCHIEF, A FALSE WITNESS THAT SPEAKETH LIES, AND HE THAT SOWERTH DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN.”(Provers 6:16-19)

Isn’t the Bansot all these things?!!!

  18. Another good news is that Serge Osmena has accepted to be the GO’s new overall manager! He is replacing JV Ejercito who has to concentrate on his own candidacy for Mayor of San Juan.

  19. parasabayan parasabayan

I am very disaapointed in Drilon. I have this feeling ( based on his previous statements) that he is a balimbing! It did not surprise me at all when the GO campaign in Iloilo did not go through.

The polls may be showing the GO to be leading but it is quite a long journey for them. In other countries, elections are thought of way in advance. Candidates have political analysts who would suggest the plan of action a candidate would have. Then the campaign managers would design a plan to boost the image of the candidate. These are not done in a haste. Because of the Cha-cha marathon, all these candidates are not prepared for the May elections. They are all like loose cannons, not knowing where to direct their efforts. I agree that they have to be so focused and just like basketball, keep the eye on the ball and not lose sight even for just a second. The key too is fielding in watchers on election day. The poll surveys may say something but the cheaters are positioned in all polling places to do what they are now very good at-replacement and padding of ballots. More than anything, this is where the candidates should concentrate on. WATCH OVER YOUR VOTES! As early as now, the watchers in all polling places should be in place. These should be die-hard opposition followers, not the balimbings. Watchers who are ready to fight, if needed.

I like the Cayetano campaign about the Fatso. I also like the ASO campaign. Cayetano has a humungos job of educating all voters on how to write his name. Maybe he should have just a jingle just for his correct name to be written on the ballots. Since the Filipinos are big on jingles, he should have one just for this-the way the voters should write his name on the ballots.

On the debates, the legitimacy issue should be the main focus(Garci Tape). The gross disregard for the law( the dictatorial tendencies of the tiyanak-1017 and the EOs gagging government officers to testify), the corruption headed by no other than the Fatso, the lack of services and infrastructures for the poor(60% of the population are in this category), the extrajudicial killings, the exodus of workers migating to other countries for lack of employment opportunities in the country, the incarceration of the officers who are illegally detained by the tiyanak and Assperon( inspite of the PTI report clearing them of the offences of mutiny and rebellion), the abuse of power by tiyanak’s appointees-the GUNGONZALES topping the list, all these are issues against this regime.

Trillanes will hopefully be the dark horse sprinting to the finish line! That is if he does not get cheated!

  20. PSB:

Parang hindi ka naman pilipino! One thing Filipinos, in general, do not seem to have is foresight. Political analysts or analysis there just do not work as Filipinos live for today for tomorrow may never come!!! They wouldn’t even remember what had happened yesterday!!!

Another thing is they are very trusting! I should know, I have tried to improve on those traits that I have learned and developed as a child, very bad and disadvantageous indeed especially when you are surrounded by people with more wisdom and think more of tomorrow than now!!!

As for Trillanes not getting cheated, it will depend on how people like you will defend their votes for Trillanes!!!

  21. Now, just a warning to the Pidals in case they plan to pay someone in Japan to do their tricks here. I can ask the police to check how much money they are laundering to them just in case. But I guess the paid lip server will be one from the embassy to avail of the immunity privilege accorded the diplomats. Still we can file a complaint to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should we learn of such anomalous activity and cases of electioneering!!!

Evardone’s job is simple: Encash the checks, make sure he gives it to his brother at National Printing Office, then tell him to provide Arroyo’s camp with rolls of Comelec security paper where the fake tallies will be written. The old game.

  23. florry florry

Surveys show that the oppositions are leading in the senatorial derby. However they should not allow themselves fall into a trap of assuming that the coming election is in for them to lose. It’s when entertaining such notion that complacency sets in, get off-tracked and lose focus in the campaign. Considering how desperate the Glue and her group of TUTAs to get the upperhand and a majority in the senate at all cost, including using her private army in the comelec, the opposition could not afford to ease up in pounding and bringing the real and hard issues to the people.

There should be no let up in exposing and stressing the sins of the glue and company, most especially the massive corruption and cheating by the evil couple. They owe it to inform them every now and then and in turn the people look up to them as a savior to save the country from going further down the drain and they should not fail them.

That’s a duty and a mission imposed to them and to accomplish it they have to unite, do their best and exert every effort to win this election, or else Filipinos will be under the thumb of a tin pot dictator, her fat boar husband, their private military army, police and their circle of thieves from then on up to when only god knows

  24. This time, Filipinos should not allow themselves to be duped any longer by the likes of those elitist crooks manning the NAMFREL or manipulators like JdV and Kiko Noted that when they say who wins the election, nobody has the right to protest against it, and accept their verdict as final and absolute!!!

The problem is there is no single source of truth. When there are two oversight bodies checking accounting for the votes, there will always be that reasonable doubt that clouds any election outcome. I keep harping about this tendency of Pinoys to focus on quick fixes, stop-gap measures, and pwede na yan solutions to address festering issues. That NAMFREL still exist today (just like jeepneys still do) is a testament to that utter lack of long-term outlook in our society.

There is no Tagalog word for efficiency. To have two regulatory bodies overseeing vote counts is inefficient and prone to dispute. The solution lies in fixing and working with the COMELEC. Otherwise, there is no point in having elections.

    .

I still believed that she never won the election

Is her legitimacy an election issue in the first place? If any crime has been done, then that is a justice issue and is technically within the jurisdiction of law enforcement and justice authorities.

Congressional Elections are about platforms and issues that can be addressed by legislation.

A favourite argument is that the matter when referred to the justice and law enforcement authorities is not addressed satisfactorily. Well, even then, that does not make it an election issue.

When the matter of presidential cheating first came up in 2005, Pinoys, in all their shortsightedness, attempted to resolve it on the streets rather than hold their institutions accountable for facilitating the resolution of the case via due process. The congressmen and senators they themselves elected settled the matter in an outcome that people were still unhappy with. Nevertheless, the process still worked and it still yielded an outcome. Whether this outcome was favourable or unfavourable is a matter of opinion and a function of the people who were executing due process.

Elections are about selecting our representatives who we entrust the responsibility of executing due process to serve the our collective interests.

Of course most Pinoys will be unable to grasp this simple concept. And unfortunately shallow political discussion and debates will prevail and cloud what is really a simple concept underlying elections.

As a noted Pinoy economist based in New York observed way back in 2000 (referring to the quality of our national debates:

They are droll and unintelligent, focused on the trivial or the irrelevant.” When the issues are of some significance, it’s the wrong arguments that prevail, the wrong side wins. Logic and common sense take the backseat to political arguments and the views of the poorly-educated. There seems to be some bases for her disenchantment.

Yuko, I travelled a lot to Japan in the late 70s and early 80s. I know that the culture you are in is heaven compared to the hellish Philippines. If the Filipino candidates trully value any election, they should prepare themselves for it. Huwag lang tira ng tira.

Benigno, the truth hurts. You speak the truth about our culture, politics etc… Criticisms are great but unfortunately, most Filipinos are not endowed with the wisdome that you have. You come across like you are in an entirely different plane.

You analyze a lot but offer very scarce solutions to what is going on in our country. You can not compare the Philippines to civilized countries that you yourself has said time and again that these countries have centuries of known culture and values. Let us realize that the Philippines, although existing for over 500 years had been colonized by so many powers before it took its own identity. It is almost like a child who was adopted then thrown from one household to the other, never loved and nourished. Now this child is evolving to an adult and now it tries its own life. The child makes a lot of mistakes but mistakes are empowering. It is the basis of maturity. This is the stage we are in now. So, instead of being a constant critic that you are, offer solutions and not just be cynical about everyone’s views and berate everyone!

Nakupo. Being negative is not in short supply in this blog.

The only solution known by bloggers here is “PATALSIKIN NA NOW NA!”

‘Someone asked “Is her legitimacy an election issue in the first place?”’

    Anna,

Nakakatawa naman ang tanong na ito. Tianak’s legitimacy is the alpha et omega of questions in this election.

This is the very issue why pinas is in disarray.

  46. The only solution known by bloggers here is “PATALSIKIN NA NOW NA!”

    .

Precisely. Any schmoe on the street can mouth such slogans. You’d think the wired elite of our society would be even a small cut above such tired old rehetoric.

As I mentioned before, the discussion needs to be taken to a next level. Otherwise, what we see happening today is no different from what’s already happened in the past.

Insanity is expecting different results while doing exactly the same thing.

    – 😀

  47. Tianak’s legitimacy is the alpha et omega of questions in this election.

    .

Is that so? No wonder we keep stumbling from one crisis to another rather than actually implementing sustainable solutions — because people cannot see beyond vindictiveness.

Madame Cory herself was a victim (or rather a prisoner) of such shortsightedness — which is why all that social capital built up in 1986 was squandered. Because all that she (and the whole Edsa “revolution” cast of character) was about and all of what fuelled that little exercise was that all-too-familiar “PATALSIKIN NA NOW NA!” mentality. It was then as it is now the “alpha et omega of questions” as one quaint commentor here put it.

So once the “ousting” part is done and dusted, we find an ideological/platform vacuum. Because all the thinking was focused on ousting, we will find ourselves with an empty slate once Gloria is gone.

And the whole cycle starts yet again from there.

    Sad, isn’t it?

  50. “Is that so? No wonder we keep stumbling from one crisis to another rather than actually implementing sustainable solutions — because people cannot see beyond vindictiveness.”

While I may concede that Aling Gloria’s legitimacy is not an election issue per se, I would like to see the candidates’ stand here.

Since the surfacing of the Garci tapes, very reasonable doubts were raised against her poll victory in 2004. As far as I know, proof beyond reasonable doubt is required only in criminal cases. An issue involving the collective will of the people needs to only to have a cloud of reasonable doubt, then, it should become a cause alarming enough for people to raise their voices up to the heavens.

Aling Gloria, instead of trying to come out clean, started silencing those who dared to ask. Hence, this issue did not get the needed closure.

For me, closure would mean either of two things:

-Aling Gloria proves that she actually won in 2004 fair and square, sans the intervention of Garci, Esperon, et. al

-Aling Gloria admits to her mistakes, repents, resigns and calls for a snap presidential elections where she would no longer run

Where a candidate stands on this issue is of paramount importance to Pinoys who would want to raise their families in a culture where adherence to values, ethics, and the sense of common decency is exemplified by those we entrust our common destinies to.

I am not blaming Aling Gloria for the sad state we are in. I am holding her accountable. Her accountability is something she had sworn to in 2001. (She also swore before Rizal’s grave in 2002 never to run for president because, as she correctly observed then, she was one big factor in the country’s divisiveness. She ran, anyway.)

“So once the “ousting” part is done and dusted, we find an ideological/platform vacuum. Because all the thinking was focused on ousting, we will find ourselves with an empty slate once Gloria is gone.

And the whole cycle starts yet again from there.”

There has never been any vacuum in terms of ideology. However, there has always been this failure to unite the nation in adhering to this ideology. This failure to adhere becomes apparent when a leader, once given the mantle of trust by the people, start corrupting the system to satisfy his own greed for fame and fortune. This failure to adhere becomes more reinforced once the people decide to close their eyes and shut their mouths to the plunder (of both the wealth and the moral values) that takes place within and around them.

If we always hold our leaders accountable to their actions, then, we may be able to sustain a nationhood that every citizen will be proud to call his own.

    .

I agree. But the way to do so is not through street politics and jokes and after-the-fact teeth gnashing of the type we are seeing today.

The way mature democracies hold their leaders to account is to ensure that the institions tasked with keeping power balanced and in check are robust and transparent. It’s called institutional reform.

If you look through the quality of discussion in blogs like this and other forums, the majority of discussion is centred around petty partisanism and personalities. There is hardly any discussion at the systemic level. Such is the shallowness by which Pinoys regard the otherwise venerable concept of democracy.

Democracy is not just about freedom and elections. It is about discipline, procedure, consistency, and transparency. The hard work is in the latter four. Pinoys, on the other hand, only understand the earlier two.

  67. Mrivera Mrivera

By a scheduling “accident,” Team GMA and GO senatorial candidates crossed paths in western Batangas over the weekend.

GMA candidates Ralph Recto, Miguel Zubiri, Cesar Montano and Jimalul Kiram barnstormed in Balayan, Nasugbu, Calaca and Lemery on Saturday followed by GO senators Loren Legarda, Noynoy Aquino, Ping Lacson, Nikki Coseteng, Sonia Roco and Jewel May Pimentel, wife of Koko, on Sunday.

The result: A knockout (KO) for Ralph Recto and company. In Nasugbu, both tickets held a rally at the town plaza. The attendance, 700 for the Team GMA. 5,000 for the GO-UNO bets. This despite the fact that Mayor Antonio Barcelon is with Lakas and, of course, team leader Ralph Recto is also from Batangas.

Until the recent global sell-off – that started last week -hasn’t Gloria & her Dogs been harping on how great the Philippine economy has been under the Pygmy ? In fact, the battle cry of Team Gloria is how good the economy has been w/ Gloria at the helm.

The recent global stock tsunami has not spared the Philippines. Obviously, this had nothing to do w/ Gloria. In the same way that when our economy is excellent, it also has NOTHING to do w/ Gloria. External forces is the driver really.

Since Gloria loves to give herself a pat on the back for her excellent economic fundamentals & take credit, she also be given credit then for the recent economic earthquake !

The duty of the opposition to the people:
    1. Before elections – to assure the people of good governance.

    2. When elected – is to fulfill the promise.

But with GMA around, i firmly believe she will continue her madness. The result of the elections will not reflect the true sentiments of the people nor will it threaten (should GO win a landslide) gma’s administration.

Let’s not forget that Gloria did great ”miracles” and miracles will she do again and again and again.

Chabeli, exactly! Gloria’s definition of “sound economic fundamentals” does not go beyond the stock market and currency exchange rate. Despite her much-flaunted PHD in economics, I’d say she is one helluva joke.

Now that the Shanghai and Wall Street bourses are hardly slaying the bears, and judging HER market by what she always trumpets upon, it does not at all depict the resilience she has painted it to be. That it is as vulnerable as any country’s. That’s what differentiates the PSE during Ramos’ time from hers.

From that critical stage of being pummeled by the blatant use of force to wrest power from the duly-elected President Joseph Estrada followed by the use of massive electoral fraud to keep herself in power has resulted in the collapse of our democratic system. The people are now bracing for the prospects that anytime the elitist democracy is finally going to expire by the fitting circumstance of self-contradictions.

What kind of a Filipino are you? You are actually happy that the progress at the fiscal sector may have been derailed. You might not like Gloria but you should not be delighted for a bad economy. Although majority of the Filipinos have not benefited from the current economy – just imagine if the stock market tanks and value of the peso goes down. They might not feel the benefits of a good economy but they certainly will feel it when the economy deteriorates. You are a real crab.

  92. edg edg

And Chabeli, Please do not include God in politics. Religion should not be mixed with politics. As what a preacher said – Religion and Politics is like Ice Cream and Manure – If you mix it together, it does not make the manure any better but it really messes up the Ice Cream. Although you believe that it’s God will be done – how would you know. I know you implied that God’s will is what you want – that the opposition will win. Are you telling God what to do now? Would it be also possible that it is God’d will that for Gloria to be the President of the Philippines? If it is – what do you think He will do to you – calling His President Tianak? Are you feeling a vomit coming?
I don’t know Rep. Teves -but according to you, God punished him – that is why he vomitted – What do you think God means when he gave Erap crippling arthritis? Was he sleeping with the enemy also – or maybe because he was just “sleeping around”. Please keep God off of partisan politics.

    “…are a real crab”

That’s what 99.9% of all bloggers here are. The hell with the economy, kick out GMA first.

They’re like the US forces which ‘liberated’ Manila from the Japanese in 1945. Yes, the Japanese was thrown out, but not before devastating Manila. The US forces’ bombing made Manila the second most devastated city in World War II, after Warsaw. Ganun din ang 99.9% of the bloggers dito. Collateral damages? The heck with them. Kick GMA is first and foremost.

They are creating the noises which scare investors away, both foreign and domestic.

    To nelbar:

    “Pinagbabasehan ay BPO?”

    Take note of the numbers:

The BPO industry employs around 200,000 people. That’s 200,000 with spending money. The industry is still expected to grow exponentially. In 2000, the industry employs less than a thousand.

Indirectly, each of these 200,000 supports a few more Pinoys. At least 1 million Pinoys supported.

The BPO industry also moves the real estate and the telecom industries. Indirectly, jobs are created in these industries as well, due to the BPO push.

The vibrant BPO industry gives the Philippines a good image to the world as a great place for investments.

Yes, kulang pa yan, pero its a great start. Those are 200,000 less unemployed, not to mention the jobs created indirectly by the BPO industry.

True, GMA has nothing to do with the growth of the BPO industry. Its purely private-sector led.

The stakeholders in the BPO industry quickly realized that shouting “PATALSIKIN NA NOW NA” ad nauseam ad infinitum does not create jobs.

Considering the resources at their disposal. Tapos, di pa known ang makati for CIVIL SERVICE EFFICIENCY and CLEANLINESS.

Iyong “sayang” can have different meanings depending on what the speaker wants to convey as in “Too bad!” “What a waste!” “It’s a waste!”

Translation in writing naman maliit ang 50 dollars per page compared to 30 dollars per page kung ingles.
