Montano, who was raised in Bohol and is fluent in Cebuano, also committed a blooper by introducing Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia as “Gwen Garci,” a sexy starlet, to the delight of the crowd.
But before his utterance of the name “Garci” could spoil the rally, Montano smoothly salvaged the situation by suggesting that the governor looked like the starlet, anyway.
“Kasi nakasama ko sa pelikula yun. Nalito ako, parehong sexy (It’s because I once worked with her in a movie. I was confused because they both looked sexy).”
In a separate article also in the Inquirer, Nini Valera reported: “Asked who would finance his campaign, which political experts had estimated would run to P160 million for a senator, Montano said it would be the administration party which would spend for it and his supporters who had already pledged financial contributions for his campaign.”

But going to the candidacy of cesar montano and richard gomez, mabuti na rin ang tumakbo sila. Mabuti na rin yong matikman nila kung paano matalo at sa ganitong paraan, maaaring magbago na ang pananaw ng mga artista na hindi komo celebrity, pwede nang maging mambabatas kahit ni katiting ay walang alam sa batas. And it will include Pakyaw.
BTW, I’ve watched just now CNN news on the Filipino hostages who came home after their ordeal. Nakakasuka talaga itong si Pandak na nakikiagaw na naman ng eksena para makuha ang boto ng mga OFWs at mga pamilya nila. Palabas niya sa sarili niya, siya ang Joan d’Arc ng mga OFWs e siya itong bugaw na nagpapain sa kanila, at kaya nililigtas para ipain muli sa ibang lugar!!!

A story to think about and share before the elections . . .
While walking down the street one day a Philippine senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and met by St. Peter at the entrance.
“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”
“No problem, just let me in,” says the man.
“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”
“Really, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the senator.
“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises …
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, “Now it’s time to visit heaven.”
So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now
choose your eternity.”
The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: “Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.”
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around shoulders. “I don’t understand,” stammers the senator. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”
The devil smiles at him and says, “Yesterday we were campaigning …… Today, you voted.”

Comelec justifies printing of 4 million ‘spare’ ballots

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is reportedly printing four million “excess” or reserve ballots for the May 2007 mid-term polls.
Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. over the weekend argued that the four million ballots are “spare” in cases when voters need extra copies should they committ errors in filling up ballots or when some ballots get lost or damaged during transportation.

REVIEWING CEBU CASE
Binay said the body will start its work by going over the case of Cebu province where a very remote barangay turned in a voting rate of 92 percent during the 2004 elections in favor of the administration.
He said the Cebu case should be reviewed because the suspicious registrants are still contained in the official list of the Commission on Elections.

Former senator Ernesto Maceda said the UNO headquarters has already received reports on cheating this early.
He said UNO has placed the suspected cheating operators under “observation and surveillance.”
He said an anti-fraud body must be established to counter the well-oiled cheating machinery of the administration whose line-up boasts of a “Sultan of Brunei.”
Maceda was referring to Team Unity bet Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, who was erroneously introduced by President Arroyo as “Sultan of Brunei” in one of the campaign sorties.

US not keen to call for public access to Melo Report

The United States is not keen on joining the bandwagon calling on the Arroyo government to make public the controversial Melo Report.
US Embassy spokesman Matthew Lussenhop said in a telephone interview they are leaving the decision of whether to make the report public to the government.
Lussenhop, however, reiterated the US government’s concern over the continued unresolved killings in the country and the immediate need for them to be addressed.
“We have certainly raised the issue of unsolved killings and we have registered our concern,” he said.
