DOJ blocks Trillanes’ media access;campaign goes online

Last Monday Navy Lt (s.g) Antonio Trillanes asked permission from the Makati Regional Trial Court to be allowed to grant media interviews. The DOJ is opposing it. Click here.

Meanwhile, the Magdalo Group has launched an online campaign for Trillanes in defiance of an earlier warning by the military leadership against engaging in partisan political activity.

Click to www.magdaloparasapagbabago.blogspot.com

“The Filipino people deserve a better life. Let us unite and save our country from despair. With one voice, let us support change. Support Trillanes…Support Magdalo…Little things bound together can be the tipping force for change,” said the magdaloparasapagbabago.blogspot.com.

The blog contained a membership form “Kaisa ni Trillanes at ng Magdalo Para sa Pagbabago” for members who may want to serve as volunteers in Trillanes’ senatorial campaign.

“Join our volunteer brigade. Sign up and be counted!,” the group said.

The detained Magdalo leader is running under the Grand Coalition.

The military earlier said soldiers found engaging in partisan political activity would be tried in a court martial for conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman and could be dismissed from service.

The blog also contained Trillanes’ biodata, his proposed legislative agenda and various studies – including a thesis at the University of the Philippines entitled Corruption in the Philippine Navy Procurement System.

The Magdalo Group said the blog “is dedicated to the officers and men of the AFP who went out of their comfort zones and sacrificed their personal well being to stand up and fight for a better future for the Filipino people and the Motherland.”

It posted in its blog the Magdalo Group flag and its slogan “The duty of every Filipino patriot is to love God, serve the Country, and protect the People.”

The military has said it still has jurisdiction over Trillanes and will continue to try him by court martial.

Military officials said Trillanes will not be allowed to get out of his detention cell to campaign because this will be in violation of the rules on the confinement of officers and men.

Gunggong Gonzales is so frightened of Trillanes in the Senate. If he opposes granting Trillanes media interviews, meron naman kaming campaign online. Sinong tinakot ng DOJ?!

Ako ay KAISA NI TRILLANES AT MAGDALO SA PAGBABAGO!

  2. I think in light of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty or until conviction, it is within the rights of Trillanes to be allowed media access.

To put security as a reason is insufficient since Trillanes is willing to take the risk (although, the legitimacy of the threat is questionable)

What about other avenues such as phone interviews? A complete media blackout is definitely unconstitutional.

Pls allow me to post this most relevant issue of the day.
While we are so engrossed with the boiling hot politics, we should not forget that it’s Valentine’s Day and let’s have something to read about LOVE. The issue of the day, above all issues!

“Put no demands on love, and love will bring you much. Give love away, and it will be yours in greater and greater abundance. With love, what was weak will grow strong. With love, what was impossible becomes real.

Love can find the beauty and value in even the most desperate situation. Love will bring hope where nothing else can.

Though love cannot be explained, it can never be denied. Love has its own reality that transcends the most oppressive limitations.

Love elevates what it touches to a higher dimension. When love is present, fears are calmed, wounds begin to heal, and joy is gloriously within reach.

Love, not because there is a reason, but because there is the possibility. Love, and you will know what you cannot understand.”

    Friends/Allies,

The Anti-Terror Bill has now been approved by both houses of Congress. It has passed the scrutiny of the Bi-cameral Conference Committee. Its approval by the president is a matter of course unless it is met with a resounding rejection from the people.

Among others, the bill’s provision on arrest without warrant has very serious human rights implications. This will certainly infringe on the people’s freedoms that are enshrined in the Constitution and upheld by international
conventions. We are proposing for an immediate leaders’ summit of human rights advocates, civil libertarians, political groups to come up with concrete steps
    to confront this bill.

It is therefore with urgency that we are inviting your organizations’ leaders to attend the Leaders’ Summit to Defend People’s Freedoms: Responses to the Terror
Bill. This will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on 15 February 2007 at the Conference Hall, Balay Kalinaw, University of the Philippines, Diliman Quezon City. We have invited a panel of competent resource speakers for this very
    important meeting.

Attached is the program for this Summit.

    Thank you very much.

  7. To not grant Trillanes the opportunity to speak to Philippine voters directly even via the Internet, etc. is infringement of even voters’ right to free speech and assembly. This Secretary of Injustice does not even have any right to be imposing such ruling because he has not been confirmed and does not have the full consent of the Filipino people to rule over them.

Is that difficult to understand? If so, BOBO nga!

Just shows takot na takot sila kay Trillanes, because he is the man of the election according to relatives and friends in Manila. I have not heard a dissenting opinion against him from them as a matter of fact. Sabi lang ng isang kamag-anak ko sa AFP, “Just don’t quote me please.”

Hmmmmmm, labas din yata ang tumbong! 😛

The campaign sorties in every town and cities starting to kick on, The Unity senatorial slates will start appearing together with there freak shows and the sound of BOOM-TARAT-TARAT. Gloria want to appear in every campaign schedule because she want to impress the audience with a copy cat choreograph erotic dance of Luningning and Milagring. The senatorial candidates are stupid not to understand her plea to be included, she wants to be there, to be a crowd pleaser, without her presence the Unity ticket will spend another millions for hakot, and she don’t want to withdraw from German account anymore. She want to make sure that she’s the first one to speak in the microphone before the crowd started to leave. Defensor will silently plead to the crowd not to BOOO before she speak or else she won’t dance. As the people are listening, the Mole will telling them story, about how she incarcerated Erap, How she helped Bolante flee to avoid senate inquiry of the anomalous fertilizer scams, how she was able to accumulate millions and deposited it in German account, how she was able to survived the bogus impeachment complaint of Oliver Lozano and Marcoleta for the second time, how she was able to speed the mutiny trial of the Magdalos.–the crowd will applauded her because it is mandatory. Clapping in every hands who are presences.–Then, here comes another salvo, Mga kabalen, as you all know I have a master degree in economics and Bill Clinton was my classmate at Georgetown that is why, our economy improved. OFW’s are all over the world because no jobs for them in our country, if they got raped, abused who cares! As long as I have a remittances dollars coming to fatten my bank account. Because I loved every Filipinos as an example I brought home Angelo Dela Cruz who was been hostage, and I command my executioner to silenced all my critics specially the journalist. You see, Sotto, Oreta, Recto and my husband relative Joker is with me because the UNO could not afford to pay them hundred million each. You all want Trillanes because he is handsome, I do too, but,I am sorry! I kept him in Jail for me.—-Now, do you want me to dance? Lani Misalucha: Aaia’s Nightingale
    Regine Velasquez: Asia’s Song Bird
    Christian Bautista: Hearthrob of Asia
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo: Mole of Asia

Come to think of it, di ba one time time nandoon si Ate Ellen sa Mall of Asia, sa pwesto ni Mikey A?

  12. BLACK KNIGHT BLACK KNIGHT

    Ellen,

Trillanes has another website at http://www.trillanes.rules.it. This does not mean that I am campaigning for Cadet Trillanes. Actually, I am campaigning for his defeat/loss in the election. Assuming that all his classmates from PMA Class 1995 and immediate relatives will vote, together with the “bloggers” (who are registered voters) and his supporters, the power of COMELEC is still there to manipulate his votes.

Assuming that Cadet Trillanes is as good and intelligent as Senator Honasan. Senator Honasan, for the past so many terms as a Senator (to include Senator Biazon), he was not able to raise the Combat Pay of the soldiers which is still P 200.00 per month and the Subsistence Allowance which is still P 60.00 per day. These two senators were not able to help the AFP get its share in the sale of Fort Bonifacio and the rest of the camps of the AFP. And where is the housing projects they have promised to give to the soldiers?
Soldiers have already learned their lessons–they will never vote another former military officer to the Senate.

The AFP is tired already to these “promising” former military officers who were elected in government positions and never put priority to the interest and welfare of the soldiers of the AFP. At the end of the day, what matters most to them is their personal interests.

We will never learn…We have very short memories..God bless our country!

“You all want Trillanes because he is handsome, I do too, but,I am sorry! I kept him in Jail for me.”

  14. I sympathize with the Philippine soldiers, BK. All the more reason now why I am determined to help stop making the military in Japan stronger. I like the present pacifist condition as a matter of fact, and the military not dipping its hand in the affairs of the civilians, vis-a-vis the Japanese police. At least, over here, I know that as a citizen, I still have my say!!!

My sympathy to all Filipinos for allowing a criminal to lead them. Frankly, I am amazed at how someone in jail can even file his candidacy unless of course this government knows it has violated a lot of rules, and may just as well be fair to someone in jail who in fact should have been pardoned long time ago!!!

I agree with you about Biazon. Wala rin magawa when in fact the reason why he is there is to at least be the voice of his aggrieved fellow soldier. On the other hand, Trillanes may prove to be the antidote! He may prove to be different with the injustice he and his friends has been subjected to.

So, I support his candidacy, because out there is someone different from the two guys you mentioned, and Trillanes can be him!!! Kailangan kasing may magsimula! At least, he and his friends had the guts to do even the failed Oakwood mutiny!!!

God willing, he will win!!! Next will be how he can serve his country and people, and yes, his fellow soldiers well so that they can be what they should be—decent, honorable and dignified soldiers, not the kind of sundalong kanin the criminal has made them to be!!!

You bet, God bless the Philippines! It is no longer my country but it is the land of my birth!!!

I’m sad to read that you are campaigning for the defeat/loss of Trillanes. You certainly have the right of choice. We have been plugging for Trillanes and a 12-0 for the UNO candidates but it seems, you’re too blunt in downgrading Trillanes to a mere Cadet Trillanes.

You clearly wrote: “Soldiers have already learned their lessons–they will never vote another former military officer to the Senate.”

You didn’t make exception, ibig po bang sabihin noon, hawak ninyong ang pagiisip ng lahat na sundalo? Not even one will vote for Trillanes? In your previous post, you manifested your dislike for Trillanes to the extent that one time you wrote that Trillanes is the exact “copy cat” of Honasan. I was wondering what do you exactly mean by that? I asked you to enlighten us on it, I am again asking for it, if you may.

Although I’m not yet sure that I will vote for Trillianes…there’s an 80% chance…it’s really unfair that the DOJ prohibited media access for the man. Gwapo pa naman. Honestly, what are the main reasons why women will vote for Trillianes:)

  21. The truth is a visit to magdaloparasapagbabago.blogspot.com tells you all you need to know to support him, thats he’s straighttalker, honest, sincere which makes Trillianes stand out amoung a crowd.
Furthermore he’s proved himself beyond doubt to feel for his country and ALL the people. If he can encourage the AFP to clean up their act as a bonus then he’s done every Filipino a big favour.
His policies are sound and unchanged over a long period of time so vote for him. As far as his looks it seems to me that some guys have an inferiority complex. So if your into UGLY then support Glo, they don’t come much uglier than her.

  22. As far as the D of J is concerned nobody listens to his big mouth anymore. Unfortunately he will never retire, just sort of fade away… the sooner the better!

Well BK, if you’re campaigning against the defeat/loss of Trilanes? So be it… I don’t know why and don’t care, maybe it’s just envy running through your veins on the jailed Trillanes or maybe you just lose hope on military representation. All I know is, I’m gonna vote for him and we’re gonna campaign for him even more to get hime a seat in the Senate. Someone like him needs to keep that dream alive for the AFP/PNP which will benefit the nation as a whole. It all starts with a dream…

Just like to pass this on as to my personal experience in Baguio. I spent two days in Baguio and was doing sight seeing with cousins, one of the numerous stop was the Presidential Mansion. At the main gate, there were some vendors, and as soon as we got out of the car they all seems to jumped on us trying to sell whatever items they’ve to sell, including big knives, I meant big knives, etc. They were pretty persuasive, I must say. Nevertheless, I wasn’t interested and we kinda ignored the vendors and we proceed at the gate were three soldiers in uniform with lackadaisical attitude and couldn’t careless if we enter the compound or not. They didn’t even bothered to check us when we entered the compound. Three soldiers in full uniform just looked at us as we walked passed them at the gate. Again, they seemed not too concerned. I guess, they knew we can only go as far inside the gate, on both side of the sidewalks to the mansion on the hill there were signs, No visitors beyond the sign. So we just stood there, inside the gate, and took pictures with the presidential mansion as the background. After picture taking, and as we approach the gate to leave, one of the soldier came toward me and asked me if I would be interested of buying a hammock netting, concealed inside his uniform. He did took it out to display it in full view. I just looked at him and I couldn’t believe that this is really happening, the soldier on guard is having a sideline job while on duty at the gate. It’s an amazing experienced. I guess I should’ve bought the hammock netting to help him financially, but I just couldn’t believe what I’m seeing. I’m more shocked than anything else, since no one ever approach me on something like this, let alone a soldier on guard. When I was back inside the car, the thought came to mind, the Buckingham Palace Guards in London. Quite sad! I’ll know next time, support your military. Hopefully, Lt. Trillanes could do something to the Armed Forces/Soldiers when he become a Senator.

  25. Guapo? Who? A Filipino guy charged with murder, dismemberment and abandonment of corpse once asked me, “Ate, sa palagay mo guapo ako?” Then, I looked him in the eye, sabay simangot,”Ikaw anong palagay mo sa sarili mo?”

Sorry, but I don’t fall for guapo.

Trillanes, OK, kasi matapang! Iyan ang tunay na bayani!!!

  26. Toney:
What a sad story you tell, maybe the soldier is bereft of cash but it sounds as if he’s bankrupt of any military pride he should have. Its right to compare them with the Buckingham Palace Guards in London, who are serving military, but respect their chain of command from the top of the British Army who look after the welfare of the soldier. Whilst the AFP chief has no respect from anybody and certainly fails to respect his own men, period.
The fault is with the Chief of Staff of the AFP being out of his depth, in fact Bogus. The AFP will get worse before it gets better, in line with their Commander in Thief with the continued stealing, lying, killing spree.

    wwnl:

Now that I’ve the time to think of it, why shouldn’t the soldier cash in while on duty when the commander-in-chief is setting the precedent to follow. It really getting back to illegitimate Gloria of what she’s doing to the armed forces and the example she is creating. If she could give millions to the Gererals and promoted them at will, why not this lowly soldier also make few pesos while on guard.

Also, I’ve some mixed emotion about the experienced I had and some knowledge that probably the soldier is underpaid with bills to pay and kids in school. Nevertheless, it doesn’t look too professional. I could just see if it was a foreigner instead of me, could you just imagine what message the soldier is conveying about our armed forces.

Something must be done to help the soldiers, this just can’t go on.

If the demonstratively corrupt Sabit Swing-son and a third grader Pacman can run for elective positions, Trillanes definitely is a gem, a picture of unadulterated love for ones country, not equated with money and power. I hope though that if he ever wins, he will not have the air that these professional politicians have. Corruption is very contagious!

As I was reading your post, I come to a conclusion that you are also a Men in uniform. It seems to me that you hate your fellow soldiers. Is that because of revenge, envy or jealousy, because you want to campaign for Trillanes defeat. As I remember from your previous post regarding Col.Querubin and Co. you called them sick in the head and all they need is sex You called them a whiner. The same day the purple heart Col. was rushed to the hospital. Don’t you have any tiny pity left in your heart for them? Just like during the previous impeachments, MIDGET and HER DOGS are resorting to Technicalities.. Remember when Oliver Lozano was in a rush to file the impeachment complain?.. Then that was used as one of the grounds to say that impeachment was invalid because it was filed prematurely..

Now, technicalities issue is being used again. This time, for this coming election. Some nuisance candidates have filed their COCs already to confuse people and to invalidate votes for AQUINO, PETER CAYETANO, etc.. Then, two days to the election period, people who are posting for opposition candidates are being held up, posters are being removed or confiscated, and given cases like posting on not designated places, etc… Call these as dirty trIcks as you may but for me, it means only one thing… MANANALO ULI ANG MGA TAGA-ADMINISTRASYON AND WE WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT HIT US AGAIN AT KUNG BAKIT NAGKAGANUN NA NAMAN.. NAISAHAN NA NAMAN TAYO..

I hate to say this, but for me parang nawawalan nko ng respeto sa election process natin.. parang palabas n lang.. for sure, nakalatag n lahat ang mga makinarya ni MIDGET at ang mga spawned-GARCI boys nkapwesto na…

I do not think this election will change the trend.. ALAM NA ALAM NI MIDGET NA MATATALO MGA BATA NYA NGAUNG ELEKSYON KAYA WAY BEFORE, PINAGHANDAAN NA NILA ITO.. THEY ARE TEN STEPS AHEAD OF US.. Tsaka i have noticed that they attack not with just a double barrel gun but rather with a muti-barreled gun.. pra hindi mo alam kung alin ang puputok at papatay syo..

I didn’t like what Trillanes did in Oakwood: trained his guns on the civilians in a civilian area. I would’ve approved had he taken his fight direct to the institutions he hated and be done with it but that’s all water under the bridge.

I do accept his grievances were and are still legitimate (save for his having whitewashed RAdm Domingo in his papers, published in PCIJ).

As to his running for Senator, I’ve long made up my mind that I will not campaign against him and perhaps, might vote for him because mine is a protest vote against Gloria.

I believe that he’s having taken his fight to the national political arena to contest Gloria and the likes of Esperon is a good thing, hence, those who are opposed to his standing in the elections had better think things over: give the guy a chance, allow him to campaign – let the people/voters be the judge as to his worthiness to serve his nation but to those who can’t help him, I suggest they refrain from campaigning AGAINST him.

Just think: The man is locked up and cannot avail of the campaign tools easily available to his opponents. He IS at a terrible disadvantage. Those who oppose him must bear that in mid.

    Leave him be.

  45. Joeseg, thank you for the reminder. Happy Valentine’s Day and God Bless!

  46. men0k men0k

Just open your eyes Cocoy.. I am also against MIDGET DOGS winning in the election, but it is the impending result…

How they will do it?.. Legally or otherwise?.. Your guess is as good as mine..

  47. Ellen,

Just read the link you put up there.

Some stupid, idiotic prosecutor apparently said:

“People might take advantage if there will be leniency in accepting visitors. It’s quite risky,” state prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera, a member of the government’s panel of prosecutors, explained.

Risky for whom? For Gloria? Tough!

Juan Pedro Navera is a total moron!!!! So what if it’s “quite risky?”

The soldier-senator candidate is a trooper.

And if this total bungling idiot of Navera thinks it’s risky because Trillanes might escape, well double the f****ing guards but let him have his goddamn visitors.

Has this idiotic ass of a moron of a prosecutor heard of the United Nations fundamental bill of human rights? His prisoner has been shitting it out there for 4 years with no end in sight, no trial, no legal conviction, no results… Frigging incompetent!

Where did Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera get his law degree? From Claro M Recto Street?

  48. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

    Bk,
Ikakampanya ko si Trillanes not becoz he is “pogi” but I do believe this guy is really apt for something good!
Tama na sa akin ‘to, as in, sa edad kong ito, one is enough! Another One, more than enough! Plis lang, before I cry for help, plus Trillanes pa!

  49. Even my teen-age daughter could show this Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera moron a thing or two in terms of human rights.

    Moron!

  50. Menok is right: Gloria has the guns, goons and gold but don’t let that stop anybody.

Freedom and democracy are and were won with much less than that, i.e., Sukarno’s Indonesian revolt, Ho Chi Minh’s revolutions, French Revolution, American War of Independence, the dismantling of the USSR, Romania’s toppling of the Caucescu couple, etc., etc., etc.

  51. Chabeli, you asked, “Just curious..what if Triallnes wins ? Will he be able to get out of jail ?”

If his cases are not resolved in his favor, it is expected that the government will not release him from detention even if he wins. Trillanes said he will insist on participating via teleconference which is easy in this high-tech age. He also said he will not leave his fellow detainees behind.

That’s one thing I’m attracted to Trillanes candidacy. One, it’s based on fight for good governance, truth and justice.

    Two, it’s innovative.

    Three, it’s replete with challenges.

His candidacy is different and interesting.

  52. BK, I think it’s unfair to judge Trillanes based on performance of Honasan and Biazon. He should be judged on his own performance. he should not be deprived of a chance to prove his worth.

  53. mac.bh mac.bh

Philippines politics does not normally count on the academics matter. It does count more on other factor such as, awa (being the underdog), sikat (like the actor and actress), kakaiba (different tune), kamaganak system, utang na loob, money matter, pogi points. And base on that Trillanes has a very good chance of winning this election.

If he wins and Tiyanak won’t be release..so what, may telecommnucator naman! Di ba may lusot pa rin?
Truly, Trillanes makes a difference…kaya Trillanes na tayo!

  55. vic vic

Rizal was right during the context of his time, but that was more than 100 years ago, by this time we should have been ready and already have matured fully, but it was not just the politicians at fault here, they are just taking advantage of our immaturity to further advance their own personal interests and agenda instead of the collective good of the whole. But we allowed them the “freedom” (there is your freedom) to abuse us, to exploit the limited resources and impound them all for themselves, one group after another, then comes another. I for one, can no longer trust anyone based simply on their words and their backgrounds and whatever qualification they may have. I would like to see them walk the walk and the personal sacrifice for once. It just seem that whoever the people voted, once in power, they are as hated..

  56. Trillanes could have been out of prison by now if he were a Japanese because of the speed of justice here. The judge would have been sympathetic especially if they could bring all those concerned to justice and punish the guilty starting from the Commander in Cheat!

BTW, a member of our group in Tokyo who had gone to the Philippines for a check up has been held at the airport and being questioned for her “subversive acts” daw against the Burot for trying to prevent her from disposing freely of the Philippine patrimonies in Japan that rightfully belong to the people of the Republic of the Philippines not the illegitimate or better illegal/bogus president of the Philippines. She is Filipino and she is prevented from coming back to Japan where her husband and family wait for her after getting her physical exam as she has been diagnosed with cancer over here and she needed a second opinion.

Ellen, is there anything you can do to help just in case? If this is not intimidation and harrassment, what is? And what right does a bogus president and her lackeys to do such a thing! Unbelievable!

The husband, BTW, used to be a member of the Japan Volunteer Corps who went to the Philippines and was assigned to Mindanao where he helped in some irrigation project there, and met his wife there. The wife is Moslem.

Now, can you blame me if I don’t want to go back there?

  57. Vic,

While I may agree with you one one hand, I am inclined to be MORE harsh on the other hand. Too easy to let them off the hook with: “but it was not just the politicians at fault here,”

In my book, those who possess the political “maturity” or the sophistication are greatly, hugely and seriously at fault – they should be rightly and duly condemned by their equal with no ifs and buts. It is they who should have taken it upon themselves to impart political maturity or sophistication to the “immature” and to the less fortunate.

The Filipino people did not JUST “allow” them the freedom to exploit but rather they, the politically mature and the sophisticated took it as a license to exploit and to abuse.

  58. Mac.BH:

why call LtSg Trillanes, Cadet Trillanes?
Is he an underclassman? He has wounded many senior officers when he wrote those case studies in the PN. And shouted corruption from the rooftops of Oakwood.

The tragedy of an institution is reflected on the accomplishments or misaccomplishments or lack of it, of its graduates.

Honasan and Biazon failing to do something beneficial to the lives of the troops is indicative of a flaw in the doctrines of the institution. The fact that so many military and police generals had been perceived by the people to have acquired impossible benefits for themselves and their families, exacerbates the dirty image of the military. WHO CAN THE SOLDIERS TURN TO? Not their own officers who they die for?

The records of Congress should speak for the
lawmakers who passed laws that benefitted the troops. As Senate committee members, Biazon and Honasan when they did not interposed any objection to across the board salary increases and retirement benefits involving the AFP
during deliberation of the Annual Appropriations Act certainly have done something beneficial to the foot soldier

Our politicians or our own people are known to take care of themselves and their families first; their relatives and clans, second. Third are all whatever who are OUTSIDERs, they get something in return for something bigger and lasting. What do military men who made it into Congress get from the soldiers? Not even something? Just nothing?

If this is our scheme of things, from Honasan and Biazon, our soldiers can expect nothing.

Nelbar (in another thread, not here)

Thanks for that comment on our national budget. It’s one of the many keys that open the doors of corruption in our country. The number one keyholder is COA who (the people there) is inutil. NO SINGLE CENTAVO NOT AUTHORIZED in the General Appropriations Act, shall be spent for any purpose. COA is our Rip Van Winkle for more than forty years. Dreaming and snoring.

Number two keyholder is Congress. Get Alan Paguia to study their violations and Congressmen and Senators will also be behind bars for hundreds of years.

COA and CONGRESS are insiders that guard our country’s wealth, that protect our people from social (labor, health and education) malaise. Those in EXECUTIVE BRANCH –led by the alleged fake president –is the soulless thief that titiliates the libido for power and wealth of insiders.

What happens every day in the Philippines is an INSIDE JOB.

that’s contextual and theoritical, our political system is such that the authoritative allocation of values (distribution of benefits) is such that nothing goes to the people with out approval of politicians.

In short, In the ulitmate analysis Biazon and Honasan can not be said to have zero contribution to the lives of soldiers while they were serving as senators.

Letseng Sir Raul O. Gonzales yan!

Sagot ba naman ng buwang, “I am a legitimate secretary, GMA appointed me ad interim so it is legal.”

At this point, the niece Ali had to butt-in to defuse the tension.

She calmly and politely said, “Secretary, of course there is a procedure that will put an end to this, di po ba, like filing it with the courts to settle this problem once and for all..”

Arroganteng sumingit ang gunggong ng: “E di, you file it in court, bukas!..no, hindi bukas, i-file mo ngayon na!…today, not tomorrow!”

It is the unending story of how this bogus serpent, er, president, her charlatans, especially this one at DOJ who is a master conjurer, come out with moronic declarations on the constitution and the laws, or what’s left of it, after twisting it, crapping on it, and wiping their asses with it, beyond the spirit, to achieve their diabolic ends at the expense of the innocent and the devastation of our institutions.

It’s a continuous savage rape of our democracy when leaders do not respect the citizens anymore. It is unmeasureable evil to even think that the laws were written to protect them from the people, when these should be protecting the people FROM them. They put people in jail for the flimsiest of reasons when it is THEM that the people ought to put in jail!

If that’s not enough reason to put Trillanes in that ballot, then I don’t know what is!

A vote for UNO is a vote against this marauding government. Every UNO name you put there is one rebuke of its manipulations, its knavery, its deceptions, its manic morons. Think of ONE vote as ONE horsewhip whacking across the Midget’s stinking little ass.

Maximize! Make that 12 whacks on every ballot. Go for 12-0! No need to be choosy…NOT IN THIS ELECTIONS…Maybe next time! For now, vote straight UNO!

    UNO LABAN SA UNANO!

  107. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

Jay, what you’re describing is simply ministerial or routine. It’s beyond that. I can’t point to the links in the Senate website ‘cuz it’s down right now. (I hope the webmaster didn’t disable it just because of what I said about Joker’s “very clean” record in a previous blog) It’s actually more than that.

Biazon, specifically, had passed into law in every congress at least one bill that would benefit the soldiers. Not to count the carried resolutions. Damn! These guys are still complaining when they, together with the cops, have received more benefits than any government worker under Gloria’s watch. Not that they’re already paid enough, but who in government is? Hey, wasn’t it because of Gringo, too, that you guys got pay upgrades several times during Cory’s term? Never mind.

But making that as a reason not to vote for Sonny Trillanes is illogical. Punishing one for the “uncommitted sin” of two others is unthinkable. Trillanes is a different man, I trust the idealism of his youth, hischarisma and bravery will inspire the others to work for good of the country. We’ve tried everything else before, I think it is what people lacked these days, INSPIRATION!

Again, think of ONE vote as ONE horsewhip whacking across the Midget’s stinking little ass.

Maximize! Make that 12 whacks on every ballot. Go for 12-0! No need to be choosy…NOT IN THIS ELECTIONS…Maybe next time! For now, vote straight UNO!

    UNO LABAN SA UNANO!

    Ms. Ellen,

Thanks for your answer (February 14th, 2007 at 7:03 pm).

It would be a slap to Gloria’s face if Trillanes wins.

  109. You bet. It will be a great slap! Trillanes is now a big name! Panalo na siya kahit hindi siya mag-campaign. Ganda nito, nakatali siya sa loob ang people doing the campaign for him. Iyan ang tunay na Bayanihan! Come to think of it, this is what we call innovation!

Iba naman siya kay Jalosjos, no! Si Jalosjos pera ang ipinagalaw. Si Trillanes, tao ang gumagalaw!!! Love this guy, really for making me have faith in the Filipinos again.

You bet, Chi, I recognize Trillanes to be good looking but the hubby is much more guapo. Ka-type ni Ken Watanabe, the actor! Of course, di tayo pipili ng pangit! I like Trillanes for his idealism, patriotism and guts!!!

Come to think of it, Trillanes, Cayetano, Escudero, Pimentel III and Aquino III have this in common, full of guts and bravado, and most of all clean bill. Kahit si Noynoy, I believe he is not guilty about the political killing at Hacienda Luisita. He is not his uncle that’s why!

Yehey!

BTW, the pro-GMA in fact are no longer as showy as they used to. Nagtatago na nga e. Iyan ang mga duwag!

STOP GUTOM! STOP KURAKOT! VOTE STRAIGHT UNO VS GLORIA M. PIDAL ARROYO!

  111. PV: I didn’t like what Trillanes did in Oakwood: trained his guns on the civilians in a civilian area. I would’ve approved had he taken his fight direct to the institutions he hated and be done with it but that’s all water under the bridge.

    *****
Nope, PV, Trillanes, et al did not point their guns on the civilians. You got your information wrong. They planted TNT around Oakwood (own words of Trillanes when he was explaining what his men were doing that fateful day), and then had all the civilian residents there to leave the place. Of course, the civilians were inconvenienced but they were happy to leave and not be embroiled in that mess with majority of them foreigners (lots of Japanese among them in fact).

Trillanes, et al definitely were not aiming their guns on the civilians, but were asking the Filipino public to support them in airing their grievances against the corrupt and bogus government that I think and believe does not deserve their loyalty nor should they abide by protocol of a government that they should not in fact uphold and serve!

You bet, though, they should not have allowed Cimatu, et al to persuade them to lay down their arms.

Apparently, up to that point they must have thought they were dealing with someone with even just a little decency left in her veins!

I am for discipline, too, you know, but not when the ones running the country like hell don’t even know what it is all about.

  112. Mrivera Mrivera

  114. Yuko,

“Nope, PV, Trillanes, et al did not point their guns on the civilians.”

I did not say “POINT their guns AT” someone but in the context of a coup d’état attempted FROM Oakwood which is a busy, very busy area, populated and inhabited by civilians, the military group of Trillanes effectively “TRAINED their guns ON” civilians in order to get their message across.

This is military jargon or if you want a figure of speech.

  115. Mrivera Mrivera

black knight, you mentioned earlier of trillanes as “cadet”. were you his senior in the academy? but those days are long gone. even if he was your junior in your days in the academy, it is unbecoming addressing him as a mere cadet being already a commissioned officer like you in the regular force, AFP.

this only proves there is a BIG INGGIT in your head!

    Ystakei,

In any war the victor write the history.

Which come first? The chicken or the egg?

  117. PV: I did not say “POINT their guns AT” someone but in the context of a coup d’état attempted FROM Oakwood which is a busy, very busy area, populated and inhabited by civilians, the military group of Trillanes effectively “TRAINED their guns ON” civilians in order to get their message across.

    *****
OK, so it was not pointing AT the civilians but ON, but literally there was not even a gun being pointed at/on the civilians that to non-military mind, the expression has the same same connotation!

Anyway, military jargon or not, it failed because there were a lot of these pakialamero who pretended to be on their side but just tricked them to surrender. Laking sisi nila no doubt!!!

Still, these young soldiers were brave and daring, and that is a fact!

  118. John Marzan:

You said it. Marami silang mga Internet bloggers here pretending to be both, and the purpose is to mess up the discussion here, and make everybody including their own selves look stupid and unlearned. Ugaling pinoy talaga! Sobra ang yabang! Parang mga langaw sa ibabaw ng kalabaw! May bagon alyas na naman!

  119. Yuko,

Of course “these young soldiers were brave and daring, and that is a fact!”

Otherwise they have no business being soldiers.

  120. PV: Otherwise they have no business being soldiers.

That’s why perhaps they have become rebels! 😛

They cannot be soldiers because they are brave and daring!!!

Lt. Col. Ariel Querubin, Philippine Marine Corps

    MUSINGS
    Ronald Roy

    02/16/2007, Tribune

It was Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo herself who pinned the Medal For Valor, more popularly known as Medal of Valor (MoV), on Lt. Col. Ariel Querubin of the Philippine Marine Corps. She was so proud of him, always addressing him “my hero” and, with a ring of fondness, called him by his first name every time they met. In fact, she never failed to abide by the tradition of saluting first a soldier if he was an MoV awardee. For your information, a soldier always salutes the President first, per force of law. The only exception is if the soldier is an MoV recipient, in which case the Commander-in-Chief is the first to salute, per force of tradition.

In the entire history of Philippine soldiery, Ariel Querubin became one of only a handful of MoV awardees. He officially received this recognition for acts of conspicuous courage, gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty as Commanding Officer, Marine Battalion Landing Team-1, Philippine Marine Corps, Philippine Navy during a 24-hour firefight against an estimated 800 fully armed men belonging to the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front at Barangay Inudaran, Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte from March 18 to 19, 2000.

I am going to print this story (based on military files) of the bravery of Col. Querubin in bold letters, and hang it in the wall, so that I will always be reminded that courageous and caring soldiers in this benighted country are not lacking, only good politicians!

  123. chi chi

Anna, this time, my heart is so heavy for this great guy!

  124. Chi, really there are many of them but as ever, courage is not enough – they, the valourous and the courageous need a leader too.

They need one whose pronouncements aren’t hollow, one who has the moral and physical courage to lead, a person who has the highest sense of honour, and degree of valour, one who respects people, be they big or small and one who will not kowtow to the baser insticts of the “powerful”, etc.

You have that leader, Pinas is saved.

  125. chi chi

I really don’t know why I’m crying over this story, probably I’m crying for my country!

  126. Don’t worry Chi, tears are a healthy sign…

They, those valorous officers and men, Querubi, Lim, Aquino and the others, deserve our tearful praises.

  127. chi chi

I have to run to the mountains, Anna.
Got to work out on my “heart and tears” for our “men of honors”!

I apologise if I sound like ordering people what to say. I wasn’t saying do this, say that. I just react to what I think you meant by what you write, hoping that you can get an idea how people can NEGATIVELY read what you said. In short it was “ito ang dating nyo sa

So I got the point, careful with what I write I could hurt people by misreading or correctly reading what they are saying. People may not like others who correctly (or incorrectly) reads them. Which is more. I am not to guess.

I repeated that for emphasis Ellen. There are few (or are they many?) bloggers here who can issue veiled threats like that even in a joke.

I was once caught jay walking and taken to a police station jail in Quiapo because I refused to pay the bribe. That drunk cop from San Pablo had to let me go because of pity. I was in college then. So Artsee I already had experience being caught jaywalking and put behind wooden bars.

So what do you suppose they should be if not “rebels”?

    Tin soldiers?

  133. The above story, Chi, only shows what a great creep the wannabe criminal squatting at the palace by the murky river! Plastik talaga!

I hope and pray Querubin will tide it over and will be well soon.

  135. No, not Trillanes, but the soldiers who surrendered easily that day because probably of the emissary sent there by Max Soliven? Is that it?

Trillanes was/is made of a much harder stuff! I did not see him surrender.

  136. “of the emissary sent there by Max Soliven? ”

Max Soliven WAS ONE of the “emissaries”, a member of the negotiating panel.

As to being soldiers, they are EITHER SOLDIERS or they ARE NOT.

I suppose you or anyone else may use an adjective that you or anybody may deem fit or appropriate.

  137. Yuko,

Some of the foot soldiers or maybe, many of them didn’t know what Trillanes and some of his friends actually had in mind – I think some of them admitted that they obeyed an order by their superior officers to be there but didn’t realize what was going to happen, hence a few of them backed out or “surrendered” immediately.

I cannot tell you whether there was a willfull abuse of command here but I can very well believe that SOME foot soldiers were caught in the mayhem and wouldn’t have gone there had they known what the Trillanes group was about to do.

  138. Anyway, if they are not soldiers, what are they then? Rebels? As far as I am concerned they were no rebels but more of concerned soldiers airing their grievances after being rejected by the woman up to then they wanted to respect as the acting “permanent” president of the land judging from what transpired and what Trillanes told the media then he did before that asking for an audience with the Midget who did not want to listen because she did not want to take any action against those sipsips in the military she was apparently cuddling and wanted protected from the wrath of the lower ranking officers like Trillanes, et al.

I doubt, PV, if Trillanes and Company would dare defy their superiors if they (superiors) were also acting according to military rules that they apparently were trampling upon themselves.

As a civilian, I don’t see any difference between Trillanes and Company, and the other soldiers now in jail who dared defied the Midget much later. Frankly, I don’t even see any reason why as a civilian I should treat these soldiers as more superior than any civilian like me, nor should they be different from any of us mortals!

  139. “Frankly, I don’t even see any reason why as a civilian I should treat these soldiers as more superior than any civilian like me, nor should they be different from any of us mortals!”

    Ah, right you are!

Courage is not a monopoly of the members of the armed forces.

  140. Those foot soldiers, PV, must be stupid not to know what Trillanes and Company were doing. I understand that they even had a lot of meetings before that for it could not have happened at the spark of the moment. Trillanes, as I have mentioned, showed the media what they were doing. The diggings, etc. were done by what you have called “foot soldiers” and they apparently knew what they were doing and for what when they planted those TNTs, etc. around Oakwood.

You probably did not see that on TV because those footages were actually not shown even on Japanese TV. What I saw were unedited live transmissions for translation and review before they are spliced to be included in the news to be aired on TV.

I don’t know what Max Soliven told you, but what I saw was more than good enough to know that Trillanes and Company were desperate to seek redress for grievances and injustice done to them and the other members of the military doing the dirty works while their superiors do nothing but go golfing even in times of crisis and war!!!

For all you know, they were in fact serving the republic for refusing to continue to be subject to the rule of a bogus president. Unfortunately, not a lot many “foot soldiers”, et al failed to understand and join them. Those who did must have understood them well. If any among them said they did not, it must be cowardice!!! Natakot magutom!!!

  141. PV: Courage is not a monopoly of the members of the armed forces.
    *****

Sinabi mo pa, Mahal! We can go on and on, Sweet, but you cannot dissuade me from not supporting Trillanes! I will, even just to mobilize the Filipino voters here to vote for him! We’re not breaking any rule as a matter of fact! Iyan ang ipinaglalaban ng UNO, the return of the rule of law. I am 100 percent for that!

Frankly, I have already consulted the police on this, and they are giving my friends in the movement ample protection from intimidation and harassment for which the Midget’s lackeys are well-known for.

  142. Yuko,

I cannot and don’t want to categorize those foot soldiers as stupid or what…

Let me repeat what I said: “I cannot tell you whether there was a willfull abuse of command here but I can very well believe that SOME foot soldiers were caught in the mayhem and wouldn’t have gone there had they known what the Trillanes group was about to do.” (Before they arrived at the assembly point.)

If you really want to know, when a captain of the Marines issues an order to his unit, the ordinary marines under him, in theory should obey the command blindly – if it – the order – is onward to the battle front against the enemy, they go without asking why. Much like the pilots of “tora tora” fame.

They never really ask what or where or why they should fight.

If they are asked to assemble in a distinct place, they go without much fanfare nor questions asked.

The order, for instance, to plant explosives in Oakwood may have been carried out by a few, ok, let’s say by many, but understand that even FOOT SOLDIERS become wary and may back out of a superior command when THEY FEEL that a command or an order is not a LEGAL ORDER.

Or even you would accept that an order to plant explosives in a civilian neigbourhood IS NOT REALLY A LEGAL ORDER.

Therefore, it is not a question of “not to know what Trillanes and Company were doing” because by that time even FOOT SOLDIERS who perhaps are not allowed to think for themselves began to realize that the order of their commander was not in keeping with what they had sworn to do.

Perhaps, that’s why many of those FOOT SOLDIERS, you know the privates and the rest, decided that they didn’t want anything to do with what was happening and so agreed to “surrender”…

Not a question of lack of courage, not at all – many of those FOOT SOLDIERS’ courage in the line of fire and battlefronts can never ever be questioned.

You may call that cowardice but I won’t – the fact that there may have been a willfull abuse of command is something we have to reckon with too – whether we like it or not.

  143. ” We can go on and on, Sweet, but you cannot dissuade me from not supporting Trillanes!”

But Yuko, WHOEVER DISSUADED YOU FROM SUPPORTING TRILLANES?

Never, did I dissuade you, nor anybody else in this forum… Point one and one line to me where I tried to dissuade you. Tactically, I didn’t even want to further discuss Trillanes here to avoid delving into a problem and could prove only detrimental to his own efforts because your and my, our discussing the issue might not be helpful to him…

If you read my previous post, (where all these back and forth discussion stemmed from – where you sourced the “train their guns on” issue) I even said that Trillanes running in the political arena is a good thing so he may prove his worth.

Did I dissuade you from supporting Trillanes at all in that post?

  144. Sorry, PV, but that’s the impression I was getting. Buti na lang we can talk openly about this.

I used to hear that from Tia Dely when I was a kid. The other day, I turned on DZRH on eradio, and hear this Tia Dely program with a drama and it brought back memories—at least, when the president was not yet as bad as it seems it is now. There were all those corruptions still, but it was a time when the soldiers acted with more propriety. Never heard of the kind of ass-licking done by these “foot soldiers” promoted to ranks for helping the Unano grab power or become president even by cheating and stealing ballots!

I am for Trillanes because he refused to be one of these cheapie military officers!!!

  145. Ooops mali (antok na kasi ako), but this should read, “and HEARD this Tia Dely program with a drama and it brought back memories…”

It’s 3 am here. Gotta go to sleep. May trabaho pa ako sa umaga. Mahirap ang executive. Can’t afford to be a bad example to my staff.

  146. Yuko,

I beg to disagree! This is not quite true: “Never heard of the kind of ass-licking done by these “foot soldiers” promoted to ranks”

In the strictest sense of that phrase and ONLY that phrase – lest there be ANY misunderstanding again, I must call your attention to an example, You HAVE HEARD OF A FOOT SOLDIER who rose to the highest ranks of the AFP – FABIAN VER!

As to dissuading you, you are absolutely wrong and I believe that to hone in on the saying, ““ang nagsasabi ng tapat ay pagsasamang maluwag!” “, you must admit that I NEVER, EVER TRIED TO DISSUADE YOU…

  147. Mrivera Mrivera

PV, general ver was not the real foot soldier promoted to ranks as he was a member of the UP vanguards. it was bgen vicente evidente who rose from a mere private to a star rank officer. and, another one following his footsteps is abe purugganan who was a corporal in the 10IB when he passed the qualifying exam in the PMA.

  148. Mrivera Mrivera

Thanks for the input on Ver. Teka, teka (hehehe, love that FVR and Rene de Villa favorite expression!), di ba TSgt lang dati si Ver before he was adopted by the UP Vanguards?
