Mataas kasi sa survey itong apat sa oposisyon na sina Manny Villar, Francis Pangilinan, Ralph Recto at Joker Arroyo. Ibig sabihin noon, kilala na sila ng mga botante at kunting tulak na lang, mananalo na.
Gusto siyempre ng oposisyon na kanila itong apat para mas maraming oposisyon ang mananalo. Kailangan yun para hindi makontrol ni Arroyo ang Senado. Si Villar at Pangilinan mukhang mas sa UNO sila kumikiling.
Ngunit itong si Recto ay kung saan maaring kumita. Si Joker Arroyo naman, ayaw gumastos ng sariling pera. At kampi naman talaga si Joker kay Gloria at Mike Arroyo sa isyu ng Hello Garci at Pidal. Kaya hindi nakakapagtaka kung sa “Unity” tiket sila.
Bukas na ang last day ng filing ng certificate of candidacy para sa mga gusto kumandidato ng senador. Kaya malalaman na natin kung sinu-sino sa Wednesday group na ito ang para sa “bayan” o sa “bayad”.
Sa UNO, naiba ng kaunti ang unang walong kandidatong kanilang na-ipahayag na dahil sa pag-atras ni JV Ejercito para mapagbigyan- daan ang kandidatura ni Sonia Roco, ang balo ng yumaong si Raul Roco ng Aksyon Demokratiko.
Ang mga nakapag-file na ng COC ay sina Loren Legarda, Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, at Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, III. Sa Lunes na siguro sina Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, John Osmeña, at Alan Peter Cayetano at Sonia Roco.
Kahanga-hanga itong ginawa ni JV lalo pa na lumabas sa pinakahuling survey ng Pulse Asia na ang tsansa niyang mananalo ay panglima, ang pinaka-mataas, hanggang pag-siyam.
Sabi ni JV, medyo masakit man, buong puso pa rin niyang isakripisyo ang kanyang ambisyon sa pagka senador, para mapalawak ang koalisyun ng oposisyun. Magpapa-re-elect si JV para mayor ng San Juan. Kung mananalo siya, na malaki naman ang posibilidad, ‘yun na ang magiging last term niya. Sa 2010, baka matuloy na ang kanyang kandidatura para senador.
Kahit na hindi na siya kakampanya para sa nasyonal na posisyon, gusto ni JV tumulong sa mga kandidato na gusto niya katulad nina Chiz, Alan Peter at Trillanes.
Umaasa pa rin si JV na makapasok si Trillanes sa UNO. Sabi niya, “Malaki na ang nasakripisyo niya para sa bayan. Suportahan ko siya.”

President Arroyo desperate to fill up her 12 man Senate slate with “winnables” has reportedly been bribing and buying off senatorial bets from the Wednesday Club, in a bid to get them included in her “Unity Team” ticket with very tempting offers, which include, among others, a P100-million cash gift for each reelectionist senator upon his joining her slate; all expenses to be incurred in the campaign of these senatorial bets, estimated to amount to more than P150 million each are to be shouldered by Malacañang; the unlimited use of helicopters for their campaign sorties nationwide, if they wish to campaign independently; the cost of ad placements, on an unlimited scale on television, radio and print to be paid for by Malacañang; the assurance of their being featured prominently in TV talk shows, both on the government channel and radio programs, as well as in other networks that are “sympathetic” to the Arroyo government plus the guarantee that any charges of the violations of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) rules will be “taken care of” and “dismissed” by the Comelec.
Ito na ang height of desperation. But I think that Recto and Joker are still trying to up the ante, baka kasi tumaas pa ang offer ni bansot. But come to think of it, the delay these two causes would put the opposition’s timetable in disarray. I hope the opposition would just leave these two out of the slate and finally force them on the administration. If these two actually end up with the administration, they will lose all credibility, if there is any, and would surely lose the senate race.
Although Mr. Noted is unacceptable to most of us, at least he had the balls to ask for the bansot to resign (better late than never). Unlike his two colleagues who are obviously fishing for more concessions than taking a definite stand.
There should be maximum, reasonable limits to Election Expense and limits to Election Financing not only to assure level playing field to all candidates, but also to assure that no governments funds will be used to finance the incumbents or re-electionist or current ruling party candidates.
Just a summary of the Limits in our case. Maximum cntributions for individual to any party or candidates in one calendar year is $5400. And that includes candidates themselves. Maximum expense for every candidate is $2 for every registered voters in his/her district. any campaign funds over the expense limits should revert back to the party funds or return to the donors. registered party Max is 70 cents per voters for every district where a member is running. And most of the expenses and contributions are re-imbursed partially by the government or tax refunded at certain percentage.
And the campaign period maximum is 45 days, usually shorter. The voters usually look at the isues and party platform and program,not the personalities, but a charismatic and a good communicator of a party leader, sometimes but not always is a big help…

As I trudge along the streets of Pasay, Baclaran, Makati, Manila, Quiapo and neighboring areas, along Pasig River and many others that time has forgotten, I can’t help to notice the poverty, dilapidated un-maintained building stuctures, filt, foul offensive odor, trashes/debris scattered all over the place as if it has been there for years and no one to care. I couldn’t even find a single trash can to rid of my personal trash. I’d assumed it’s the way the standard of living in major areas of the Philippines, at least those who can’t afford the basic homes. Now, the wealthy is a different story, of course, the rich of the rich, that can afford to build high concrete wall fences with broken glass on top to keep out all the unwanted rip-raps. The concrete walls also serves as the screen between wealth and poverty, boundary between the haves and have-nots. After decades, nothing much improvement for the better, the rich getting richer and the poor still having babies that couldn’t even afford to feed.
This coming election this bitch mutineer Gloria Arroyo is giving away billions of pesos so she can assure of staying in power and money is no object since it’s not her own money will be spent. The gall of this bitch Gloria, when the poor are starving and mutineer Gloria providing helicopters for campaign purposes while many Pilipinos couldn’t afford transportation to go to hospital and are dying on the street.
To top them all, squatters squatting on the beaches of Manila Bay without plumbing facilities, raw sewage being dump in the Bay, was sickening sight to witness. As to your limitations on election matters, it works out there but not here. I know the intention is good, but what’s the use if it is not applicable. What is happening now is the best illustration how election in this country is conducted. Si Pangilinan, wala talaga siyang choice kundi mag Independent, kasi sa kaso ni Mr. Noted, kinukuha siya sa Unity ticket ng mga Magnanakaw, Ayaw niya…Gusto niya sa UNO pero may mga sector na taga opposition na ayaw sa kanya..kaya wala siyang magawa kung hindi mag solo…Kaya sa election Mr. Pangilinan…NOTED ka rin !
Ang mainit na issue itong election ay ang issue ng pagbabago ng saligang batas o charter change. Ano ang position ng mga kandidato mula sa administration at opposition? Paano na ang mga kandidato ng administration na gutong buwagin ang senado; tapos tatakbong pagka-senador din pala? Iyan sina Pichay at iba pa. Dapat itanong sa kanila ang mga botante. Sa issue lang iyan, talo na ang mga gunggong na iyan.
